We wanted to try some place new. We showed up about 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. This place does an amazing take out business. So much so that I don't think the kitchen can keep up. It was very obvious as the people in the restaurant were not getting their food while the long line of take out people were getting them. After a long wait we got our pot stickers. They were over cooked. Then another 20 minutes we got our entrees. My husband ordered the Singapore Noodles and I got Pho Brisket. My Pho was extremely salty. Happy hour is from 3 to 7 includes $3 beer only. They are very slow in answering the phone. It is irritating to listen to the phone ring over and over. Around 7:20pm you could see the tables in the restaurant getting food in a timely manner. The decor of this place is also very odd. Very western and they serve Asian food. It looks like they moved in and kept the previous tenants decor. They have a second location in Marble Falls. We would probably give it another try at a different time. read more

This location absolutely is the worst. My wife and I ordered from here last night 3 simple dinners and 2 orders of pot stickers and 2 order of egg rolls. The appetizers were warm. Are fried rice that came with her sister chicken was really mushy and there was clumps of hard rice. My wife wanted a sesame chicken with white rice, in the white rice container had a lot of condensation in it. All of our meals were cold beyond the point of enjoyment. My wife tried to rewarm the food up in the microwave but it still wasn't good. Beyond that point I lost my appetite. I took some rice and a few other samples of the stuff I didn't like back to the restaurant to show the manager. When I arrive to the restaurant, I asked to speak to the manager and a boy greeting me asked me why I wanted to speak to the manager. After I told him it's about the food and how I wanted a refund. He went and got the manager and told her something and then called her back to him and whispered something in her ear. When the manager approached me she really looks irritated and I simply told her how my food was cold and we tried warm it up in the microwave and it didn't taste the same so we threw it away in the trash can. I brought her some of the rice to show that I wasn't just making this up for free food. The manager looks at the rice and ask me what do I want her to do about it . I simply told her I want a refund so I can get my family some food somewhere else. If she tells me we'll bring the food back and I'll give you a refund so I explained how we threw away the food because it was no good my wife explained how the food was in the trash can at the house. The manager woman told us to come back and bring the trash bag if we're not lying. I have video proof of her making her employees go to the trash bag in the middle of the lobby while people are eating their food. She got mad because I was videotaping my experience I'm having with them. She denied my refund saying saying you couldn't find the food. Accusing me of eating it first of all the portion sizes are small one plate has about six pieces of chicken on it in a little side of rice. In my opinion it's not worth to send your five bucks, I spent for cold food and crappy service. Never in my life in the restaurant business have I seen some service like this. I spend a LOT of time in SE Asia including Vietnam. This place serves white peopled up Vietnamese food. They also attempt to make Thai, and Chinese food which is ALWAYS a bad sign. Their Pho is terrible it's Watery and they use dried rice noodles which are never as good as fresh ones. I had their Pad Kee Mao ( Thai) and it was bland and dry and included those damn Hard rice noodles. I just noticed that on their menu, the Pad Thai, Pad Kee mao, and Pad see ew Have NO MEAT included... for $11.50!!! Are you kidding me?? It astonishes me when and ethnic group opens a restaurant and then proceeds to second guess American tastes and ruin the authentic essence of their own food. Pass on this place. read more

Any alternative to Mandola's in Bee Cave starts looking pretty good after the twelfth or thirteenth straight spaghetti-and-meatball meal out. I'd had a great tofu pad thai on a previous solo visit so took a big risk and brought my son here for something new. His delight with the Thai wings and orange chicken was immense. The sauces are wok-made, fresh from scratch, mind-bendingly unusual these days when most Asian chicken sautees are thick and gloppy and indistinguishable. The sauce for the orange chicken features chunks of actual fresh orange, and I understand it is very tasty. The grilled pork in the spring rolls is warm and smoky, just cooked, meaning the rolls are freshly made as well. Some fresh basil or mint in there would make them perfect. The potstickers are actually just deep-fried dumplings, which usually means frozen out of a bag, but the fresh gingery filling tastes homemade. Hmm, a paradox. Noodle dishes like pad thai and the bun are really very good and fresh. However, anything wok-made is pervaded (invaded?) by a big pile of sauteed onions. As far as I can tell, their main purpose is to cheaply bulk up the plate (portions are relatively small for the price). They are not pretty or tasty, and it would be better for everyone on the planet if they were not there. The space is somewhat schizoid: fake exposed brick (pizzeria), multiple TVs (sports bar), big wooden signs with shark bites out of them (beach bar), mirror-mosaic steer skulls (steakhouse), all to the tune of 80s rock songs you've spent most of the intervening decades trying to forget. But somehow it hangs together. Maybe Buddha takes care of the cohesion element, from his spot on top of the beer cooler. read more

I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews. My first time there was today and I was extremely disappointed. We ordered shrimp fried rice and it looked like it came out of the frozen section, no sauce, tiny shrimp and no flavor, plus the prices shown online are cheaper than what I got charged (very overpriced for what it is). Then I ordered pho with no meat and usually that is cheaper but I was charged for brisket pho. I ordered a taro bubble tea and every other bubble tea I have ever ordered comes with tapioca, but I was charged extra for the tapioca. It is like they are scraping every penny out of their customers and offering sub par quality food. I won't be eating here again and I don't recommend it for anyone. read more

We ate at Simply Pho last evening. It was our best experience of all the times we have eaten there. The service was excellent despite the restaurant being very busy. This would have been a 5 star experience save for the lack of curry flavor in the Singapore Noodles. I suspect the usual bold curry flavor is tamed a bit for the US palate but I learned to eat Singapore Noodles in Asia and these at Simply Pho were under flavored a bit. read more

Staff is always nice and only one complaint: when you order a glass of wine, it's never cold- you always have to get a side glass of ice. Was craving good Generals Tso's Chicken and coffee boba. Walked into the wrong entrance which looks like a completely different cafe. Retreated out the door to go next door to the Pho section. Was seated immediately and could see that I was basically in he same place but in the food area. Not a problem but worth noting in case you bail thinking it's only a place for cafe drinks. The menu is large and varied, good use of imagery. I ordered a Viet Boba and was asked if I wanted 'tapioca' to go with it. Which is fine, but it's like going to a sushi place and ordering 'sushi' and being asked in I wanted fish, and seaweed wrapped in a rice roll as well. The waiter was pleasant and the service was prompt. Someone started playing the Ukulele, not badly but that could have gone in either direction. Food arrived nice and hot, General Tso's was crispy and not overly battered, the heat was perfect and the broccoli was flavorful and crunchy. If you are going to have a pseudo Chinese-American staple dish it's a great place to get it. Boba was a strong sweet coffee drink with tapioca.. ;-) Great place and reasonable for the price. Amazing place! My husband and I came in while waiting on our dog to finish his grooming and we definitely don't regret it. The waitress we had (Kelly I believe), was amazing and she was the only waitress in an almost full house. We loved how quickly she brought our food and refilled our drinks, I feel like at other places we always have to ask but not here. Now the food......I had never had pho, always felt that it smelled like canned soup at other places but from the moment we walked in I could smell the freshness. We had the eggrolls and the pho. One server/seater who I suspect is the manager was keeping a list of the people and party size as they came in. Two other servers/seaters didn't understand there was a list and just took whoever was at the front of one of the two places people were standing. Regardless of when they got there. People that just walked in got seated immediately because we said we weren't next - ugh. Then they pointed to us and we said that the people on the other side were waiting longer and there was a list. The server took them. Still apparently oblivious of the list. They TOSS your credit card at the end of each day if it is accidentally left there. I used my credit I paid and accidentally left it in the folder. When I returned they had closed EARLY (supposed to close at 9 but the lights were out by 8:45). Then I called when they were open and they said they THREW IT AWAY... for "safety" reasons. This is NOT an acceptable nor even a common practice. The credit card company actually owns the card--and a merchant is supposed to send the missing cards back to them (they even receive a fee for doing so). I checked the internet and then called around local restaurants and COMMON practice is to keep it in the cash drawer (or office vault) for at least 48 hours. It wouldn't have been too bad--except the person that I spoke with was rude as heck and told me they threw it away at the end of the day (but then again, they didn't even stay open until the listed time) and then he actually HUNG UP on me!! I had to pick up my daughter from the dance studio a few doors down, so I came in and actually ended up speaking with the same person who hung up on me on the phone--he turned out to be the manager! He seemed more apologetic, but also tried to defend his policy (it sounded like he was the one who implemented it). I just finished my meeting and was wearing my scout master uniform--or I probably would have verbally blasted him (if anything for how he responded over the phone). I have gone to this restaurant since the first week it opened, and again under new ownership. One of my sons worked there for over a year (longest running waiter they had). I'm sure I have spent THOUSANDS at this location (with a family of 7, plus at business meetings). First, I disagree with their policy. The manager explained that they had had a false charge from one of the cards that was left--but this would indicate a bigger problem (just as easily from receipts as cards)... so they setup THIS policy (Really? Are you trying to tick off your patrons?). Second, if they are supposed to be open until 9, then don't close early (I could have picked it up). Third--if the manager thinks it is fine to be rude and hang up over the phone (when a customer had every right to express his frustration)--then reign him in or get someone else. BTW, it was the first time I ever left my card anywhere. I didn't lose my card--I knew EXACTLY where I left it (they were the ONLY place I had used it), but they just threw it away before I could get it back from them. So, until my card is replaced I will not be able to use any ATM (I will have to take work time to go to the bank and get a lot of cash out), I can't get gas without going inside, I can't order my online movie tickets (my number is cancelled), won't be able to get groceries without cash, I will have to change my kid's lunch money account, my cable account, my propane account, my electric account, my ATT account, my insurance account, my Amazon account, my Apple account, my Vonage account, and every other account that used the prior card number (even once it is replaced). Their "policy" is to throw the cards away immediately at the end of each day. Fine. My "policy" is to give a POOR rating and explain this bad policy until I can get my card replaced (which will take 3-5 business days--next week). I recommend they change their approach and consider a 48 hour hold (and store them where they put the VISA receipts)--that should at least help those that know they left their card there (since it appears to be a COMMON), and will give them a much more reasonable policy to explain--rather than "I threw your card away" (even if you try to collect it the very next day). I like their food and have been there a lot, but this is such a POOR policy they need to change it immediately. They are better than this. read more

I'll start out by saying that I was in the food industry for over 20 years. Culinary Institute of America trained. Traveled the world and experienced food from over 13 different countries. This was one of the worst meals that I experienced. The sesame chicken was dryer than a bounty paper towel. The sauce was bland and it only had 2 peices of the saddest broccoli in it. Worst Sesame chicken ever!!! Our Pad Thai was also dry and lacked any flavor. The Tom Kha Soup was not a traditional Tom Kha soup. It has been an hour after our meal and I can't get the horrible taste out of my mouth. I only had 4 spoonfuls of soup before I gave up. When I called and asked why it was different, the manager said it was an fusion of a different style of Tom Kha. The problem is when I order a specific type of soup I expect that soup. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, why serve me pork. I gave them 1 stars because my wife liked her meal. I spent over $80 on a meal that was horrible. I would say it was one of the worst meals that I have ever ordered. There will be no leftovers, because it will be in the trash. If they don't like my review, then cook me a meal worth $80. When they first opened. They were so good. The food was really good. The chef at the time was John. He did a great job but he has gone now and when I took my dad there for lunch a few weeks ago, it was embarrassing. He thought it was, well, yuck! I knew John had left a while ago and was hopeful that the food would still be as good but sadly, it has consistently gotten worse. The pho broth was really sweet and the chicken fried rice was not good. It tasted like the chicken had been microwaved and thrown on top of yesterday's rice. And the prices went up. I don't like to pay more than what something is worth. That trip was my last. I won't be back. Also, the ice cube size they use is too small for boba tea.
