Comes with the aoli sauce that personally I skipped to dip in spicy fish sauce. Tom Yum Soup is my favorite so far in Austin because they give you so much seafood, even if we got the large size there were muscle, shrimp and some more of the big and tender calamari. Spicy Fish Fillet was also delicious even though I was looking for authentic Plad Pla Cha (found at Little Thailand). The fried batter soaked up all the good sauce and it was served piping hot. With amount of fish, it thinks it needs one extra bowl of rice. Drunken Noodles was not the typical drunken noodles that we were expecting. This was more like pad tai with flat noodles however it was delicious nonetheless. Let's start with the good and that's the special Lamb Shank Curry! If you enjoy tender juicy lamb, this is the dish for you. The service was nice and the place is clean with a nice open feel. Unfortunately, the basil fried rice had a sweet flavor which was strange for me and the drunken noodles were just okay. I didn't try the Tom Som salad or Tom Yum soup so no opinion there but my buddy wasn't very impressed either. Verdict: 3 stars all around but not for me even though that lamb shank was really good. My true rating is more like a 3.5 but the service was exceptional, the restaurant was clean and pristine, food came out fairly fast, and flavors were good. At the tail end of our trip to Austin, the hubby and I were seeking something fresh that wasn't brisket, biscuits, or slathered in mayo or bbq sauce. We dined at Sip Saam for a late lunch and were greeted by such a nice group of employees who were all smiles. We started with the cream cheese wontons which were stuffed with cream cheese, imitation crab, garlic and served with a sweet chili sauce. The hubby ordered the pad Thai with chicken, no garnish or peanuts and loved it. It was very saucy, had the hint of sweetness he loves, and was tasty. I had the ribeye salad which had nice charred hunks of steak, dressed in a bright lime dressing tossed with mint, cilantro, romaine, red onion, tomatoes, and cucumber. My only critique is that the ribeye could've been sliced in smaller pieces and trimmed a little more. I have always loved this restaurant when it comes to Thai food. The staff is welcoming and polite, Nice & clean and the vibe is great, the food is always to the point and excellent. Service is quick , easy to select your spice levels and a lot of vegetarian options as well. They also have lunch specials . I have tried a lot of their menu items over the course of time and everything has been wonderful - it's never disappointing here ! They have a kids menu as well and are accommodating with kids. My wife ordered the Panang curry with chicken. The sauce itself was flavorful, with the creamy depth you'd expect from a well-made curry. However, the dish was strikingly bare: just the curry, a modest portion of sliced chicken, and bell peppers. No green beans, bamboo shoots, basil, or other traditional components that typically round out this classic Thai dish. Without the accompanying white rice, it would've bordered on a snack rather than a meal. I chose the garlic and pepper stir-fry, expecting a balanced wok-tossed medley of seasonal vegetables and aromatics. Instead, I received a sparse plate of intensely pungent white onions--barely caramelized--laid over a bed of lettuce and topped with just five shrimp. The dish lacked texture, color, and the kind of layered flavor profile one expects from even a basic stir-fry. Both lunch specials--priced at $15 and $16--came with a single potsticker (unfortunately served lukewarm) and a small salad topped with a peanut dressing. The salad was fine, and the dressing added a mildly interesting twist, but it wasn't enough to elevate the experience. Overall, the meal felt minimalist not in a refined, intentional way--but in a cost-cutting, corner-cutting one. There's a clear distinction between focused, clean cooking and simply under-delivering. Moo Ping (pork skewers) was perfectly charred and loved the flavor with the fish sauce dipping sauce. It was a lot tastier than I imagined. This was my favorite. The Tom Kha with shrimp was solid. I get this one a lot and it is consistent each time. Tamarind Duck - deep fried. Not a fan of the sauce. It reminds me of mole with a little bit of tamarind and I'm not a fan of the mole flavor. So delicious! I love that North Austin has such a solid spot. Their portion sizes are humongous, and the food is really good. BEST THAI SPOT IN AUSTIN I have found my local Thai place in Austin! When I first came here with a friend who's a local, I was instantly hooked. The ambiance is very woody, lots of woodwork and traditional Thai decor. Food was spectacular and was delivered very quickly surprisingly. Sip Saam is the only Thai place in the Austin area that I have genuinely enjoyed and has kept me coming back for more. It's one of the restaurants I always recommend people to eat at when they stay in Austin. Granted it is slightly more north of Austin, but the food and experience is more than worth it. Concerning parking, it shares parking with a couple of other restaurants along a decently sized plaza but I have never had difficulty finding parking. The restaurant itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere due to its primary of use wood for its decorative interiors. Every time I've eaten there, my food has always come out fresh and steaming. My favorite dish to get is the Pad Thai with pork, but I also highly recommend their Cream Cheese Wontons and Calamari as an appetizer. I can also attest to how delicious their Pad See Ew and Panang Curry is because I alternate between those entrees every time I come back. Their servers are kind and helpful, but when it comes time to pay I dislike how they bring the card reader to you which makes you pay for the meal and the tip right in front of them. Three words. Amazing Thai Food!! Sip Saam is one of my all time favorite Thai restaurants. Every time you come here, always expect fresh food that is steaming before your eyes. My recommendations (go-to classics) are pad se ew, pad Thai, cream cheese wontons, and the Thai Tea. Servings are big and I normally bring leftovers home to eat for lunch the next day! The pad see ew always has a nice sweet and savory balance, while the pad Thai has a strong savory component that makes it great. The Thai tea is given in huge mason glass jars, and the cream cheese wontons are a good simple appetizer to start off. The staff always have a smile on their face and service is always great. Typically, the restaurant is always busy whether by to-go orders or by dine in customers. Thankfully, there is a lot of seating available so you shouldn't have to worry about getting a table. What's also nice is that Sip Saam can accommodate for large groups and there is plenty of parking outside within the complex. I think out of all the Austin Thai restaurants, there is no other place that comes remotely close to Sip Saam. Definitely deserving of a 5 star review! read more

Kinda regret coming here and not sure why the rating on yelp is so high. I tried to order a sweet tea older waitress said they didn't have any only thai ice tea so ok ordered thai tea and moments later I looked to my right of me and I saw another patron drinking sweet tea. While the service was good however the food was nothing special. The pad thai was too sour and didnt have the traditional firm tofu and eggs like you would see at other restaurants. It was only noodles and whatever protein you pick. The best thing on the menu was the calamari which probably came out of a bag. Fresh rolls were ok it didnt have rice noodles or enough shrimp. Whenever my friends ask me which Thai restaurant we go to, I always recommend Sip Saam Thai! I'm a huge yellow curry fan, and theirs is SO good! The potatoes are well-soaked in the broth, and the broth itself is ADDICTING. Whenever I'm there during lunch, I always make sure to have their Thai iced tea with my meal. It's refreshing and very concentrated! I also love how clean the restaurant is and how pretty the place looks! This place used to have very good service and authentic food however we visited yesterday and were disappointed with both the quality of food and the service we received. I asked if we could have the chicken subbed for a vegetarian roll on the appetizer dish and the waitress responded "no we can't do that". The we received our pad Thai which was gritty and the tofu in it was bitter and spongy (double fried, I assume). The tom kah was served without rice and we were charged extra for the rice. The soup was the least authentic tom kah I've tried in the Austin area. When we wanted to pay the waitress came and verbally told us the total and was showing us the card reader to pay! We had to ask for a bill!! Their system starts with an automatic 18% tip calculation option, what happened to the 15%? Honestly we should have left no tip but ended up tipping any way. My daughter always orders from Sip Saam Thai, so after her graduation, she wanted to dine in. I was not mad at her choice, since it was my first time trying them out. The food was great! We had some delishes dumplings to start our dining experience off with. They were hot and fresh. *Let it be known that there were some errors on the menu, so we had to ask for pork dumplings since they were not listed. They have different spice levels from 1-10. I ordered my meal with a spice level of 3, and it was not spicy whatsoever. I would probably try a 5 next time. My daughter had a level 7 and yikes, it had some heat. We got there in the knick of time because shortly after we sat down, the place filled up quickly! Luckily, we got our food quickly and it was everything I expected and more. You get a lot of food, so you'll probably have some leftovers for lunch. Let me tell you, my lunch the next day hit the spot! They are short-staffed, so be patient. Came in on a Wednesday night and was not expecting it to be as busy as it was. The kitchen was short staffed, and the wait staff was left scrambling the floor but the food was well worth the wait. We came on a busy Friday night. We weren't greeted at all upon walking in because there were tons of people at the register. They have a sign that says to wait to be seated, but nothing really was obvious about having to get our name down on their clipboard at the register. It felt a bit unorganized when trying to get seated. No one acknowledged our existence until we were the last couple waiting to be seated. It was date night for us, but we were asked if we wanted to share a table with other guest. Very strange, we politely declined. Everything we had was delicious. I had to take off one star because we were approached so many times by so many different servers asking us the same questions throughout the night. I mean four different people asked about the check when we had literally just ordered dessert.
