They dont even have a system to put your name down at the door and get an alert when your tables ready. You have to line up outside of the venue. The first time I visited last year in december, my friends and I had to wait in line outside in the cold with about 45 other people for over an hour...... Please open up reservations bc thats WILD. Your order (and everyone elses) comes with skirt steak cooked how you want, a delicious chimichurri sauce and endless refillable shoestring fries. They have additional sides like garlic bread and mashed potatoes, grilled veggies etc for purchase And you can add a bottle of wine to your meal for an additional cost. Got it! Here's the updated version: 1/5 stars Came in with my group -- the restaurant was completely empty. They refused to seat us until every single person in our party arrived. We had to stand and wait even though there was nobody else there and plenty of open tables. No flexibility, no common sense, just a rigid policy applied to an empty room. I love the concept. Offer only one dish cooked perfectly. The problem is they don't do their one dish perfectly. My steak came out rare even though I ordered it medium. That's strange since they only offer one dish. I should have walked out when they told me my steak comes with unlimited French fries. A happy meal also comes with fries. It's a heeeeell no for me based on the incredibly steep prices. The tiny piece of skirt steak is $48 and a mocktail of soda water and orange juice is $15 - the same price as a glass of wine. I paid $85 including tip just for a small piece of steak, plain lettuce, greasy fries and a soda water a splash of juice. It's insane. Granted the steak tasted good. But for the amount you get and the sub par fries, it's definitely not worth it. And they don't do medium well - just rare, medium and well done. Well done was still tender though. I had such a great experience at Skirt Steak! For $48, the prix fixe menu is honestly one of the best deals in NYC. Stumbled across this place two weeks ago while visiting NY and loved it from the second i walked in. I came for a drink and the fries. Love the ambiance of the place. It was a very busy night and staff was super friendly. Gin and tonic perfectly made and fries cooked to a good crisp. I came back to NY and stopped here again yesterday! Ordered the pre fix meal with blooming onion. I ordered my steak medium and it was tender and flavorful. This steak meal was just what i needed after a travel day to NY and starving! To begin, the rating does not reflect the food rather how this establishment conducts business. I was here about 2 weeks ago and in town from Los Angeles I was excited to try this place for a while. Their $48 prix fix is not a bad deal. The steak is good but nothing to call home for. The salad was probably the best of what it includes. The bottomless portion only includes the fries which is not bad but if they were trying to be like Relais de l'Entrecôte they could've done a second serving of steak at-least. $3 for an extra steak sauce is also criminal but here's the kicker. After paying and leaving tip it came out to $400 for a party of 5. A few days later once everything settled I had seen they added an extra $10 for themselves unauthorized. They can keep the little $10 but it is the principle of them going out their way to steal that on top of what I already gave. If you're coming here the food and ambience isn't bad but take a picture of your receipt to avoid having this issue. read more

This place is underwhelming and a scam. I went here with relatives and my fiancé as we saw it on instagram and was excited to try this "excellent steak with unlimited fries". The steak was fine, I paid for Wagyu and it was highly underwhelming and I even believe the base steak was better. The unlimited fries is their main selling point, yet you barely feel the need to get more fries, unless you are capable of consuming large orders of fries over and over. My bestfriend and I did the pre fix me up which you can upgrade if you want the wagyu . I loved the steak. Im pregnant and had to get mine well done unfortunately, however I was so surprised how flavorful and tastey my steak was still. Service was also amazing . It gets super busy . Nothing negative to say! My friends order the potatoes with cream. I never eat them because the steak and fries are enough for me. A few leaves of salad, the dressing is good. Skirt Steak is a moderately large and very popular restaurant which only serves one thing which is a prix fixe with a salad, a skirt steak, and endless fries along with some add-ons and desserts. I sat at the bar due to lack of room which is fine and the lighting overall was a tad dim so some of my photos are subpar at best but oh well. It's normally $45 but if you go here at certain times, it's "steak hour" where it's $10 less which makes it a much better deal as the food quality itself is alright. With the reopening of Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte, I prefer the latter partially as I find the steak quality to be better but also because I prefer the sauce there and there's other cheap steaks which are better as well especially if you don't want to eat a mountain of fries. Anyway, the drink I had when I went there a while ago was a Spiced Blood Orange Shrub for $7 or $8 which was pretty tasty. The bit of citrus sourness was nice with the warming spices. The first thing that arrived was bread which was warm and fine. The "Field Greens Salad" which is the first course was alright. The greens had a bit of bitterness to them which was appreciated and the dressing was light. It was simple and perfectly okay. The "Prime Skirt Steak" afterwards was OK at best. In general, it was bit chewy even for skirt steak with some toughness. The meat also ranged from a proper medium rare for the thicker middle which was a tad chewy to medium well at best for the ends which was more dry and also a bit chewy. The portion size was decent enough but I didn't think it was worth it for the quality. For the fries, The "Endless Handmade Fries" were pretty good. Nice and crispy though perhaps a bit too salted. If you're looking for a steak prix fixe and you don't want to have stronger sauces or flavors, this place is decent enough. However, for more flavored and much more tender steaks, there are much better options which are also pretty cheap as well, let alone L'Entrecôte which I prefer heavily. I would also compare it to Medium Rare but I haven't been to the latter yet unfortunately. At $45, the food would have been a bad and not worth it for $35, it's subpar. 2.5 at the highest though I'll round down as without that deal, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I saw this place online and also a few of my friends recommended it but honestly, I wasn't blown away by it especially for the price that you pay. It is a good deal with a $45 fixed menu of steak and unlimited fries with a salad to start you off. The salad was honestly not good at all. I was hoping for a classic Caesar salad, but this salad was very weird and was mostly lettuce. No other vegetables in it and the dressing was very light and it tasted like licorice. None of us really touched the salad so you can count that out. The steak was good, but a lot of of us ordered the same cook of our steak at to be a medium, and with us almost all ordering a medium cooked steak they were all different somewhere were more well done and some more than others so the consistency is lacking a little bit. The service was good, but I also felt like we were kind of being rushed by our waiter. He kept coming over to us kind of insinuating that we should leave. I'm not sure if that was totally fine but that's what I felt. Also, you have to be very on top of the person who has the extra french fries because if you don't call him over sometimes they won't fill your plate up again. The place itself was very nice. It was very cute acquaintance inside it felt just like an upscale steak restaurant. My friend and I both dined here for the first time last week. We tried to go the previous week, but their kitchen was unexpectedly closed. We arrived around 6:30 pm and had no wait to get a table for 2 on a Thursday night. By the time we left around 8:30 pm, there was a long line outside. The restaurant itself looks like the inside of an unfinished construction project. Raw untreated wood. Minimal décor. There is a square bar in the center, tables around the perimeter and some larger family style tables at the back of the restaurant. I'm glad we didn't have to share a table with strangers and had a table for 2 at the front by the windows. Our waitress was really friendly. Everything comes out super quick - very fast dining experience. The menu is super straight forward - we did the regular steak and added a side of these cheesy, bacon sliced potato dish. The sides rotate and are $12 - the table next to us had Brussel sprouts and it was a small portion and looked like nothing special. The potato side we got was delicious and a decent portion- more value than the Brussel sprouts. They come around several times and offer you more fries - fries were nice and crispy. Steak was fine - medium temperature is more like medium rare, which was fine for us. They bring the dessert cart around at the end - we opted to try a slice of this almond fig tart pie. The slice they cut was puny for $12 and it wasn't very good. I'd skip dessert next time given the portion size. They make their $$ on alcohol - the wine is pricy. Will I come back here again? Not sure. Is it a great value? Maybe if you come when its $10 off at 5 pm or 9 pm. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you can find other restaurants in NYC that offer steak & frites for $45. read more

Saturday 4/11 I went to this place and have been there MANY times. There were seats available at the bar where I typically sit and I know the drill. Let the hostess know you want to sit at the bar and you usually don't have to wait in line if there's availability. Well, I STILL HAD TO WAIT. She sent me right back to the line to wait for nothing. There were 4 seats available for the course of the time I was waiting. This hostess needs to be schooled on how to seat properly. I have never had to wait in line if the bar was available. It's a simple formula and it works. There's only steak and you get a salad and fries by default but can order a few add-ons like garlic bread. The steak is perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. Really great! Its the star attraction and lives up to expectations! Its paired with a peppercorn sauce that tastes more like a bearnaise sauce and is also very good. The fries are ok, and while they give you unlimited amounts, one serve is enough as they are not particularly memorable. Salad is also decent but not memorable. We had the garlic bread which was also good. The bread is fresh but it's more like a butter-herb bread. Good but not amazing. Also frustrating is the butter-herb seems to be spread between the slices instead of straight through the middle. Its the best part and you'll wish there was more butter-herb... Now it's 48 dollars and 6 months ago it was 45 dollars. but I recently went for a birthday with my 10 month old son and their high chairs are clean and perfect! my one wish is if they offered a small cut of steak for the baby!
