Fun breakfast place - great for families. The "make your own pancakes " is the big draw here. Prices are reasonable, we paid $70 for 2 adults with breakfast entrees and two kids dong the pancake thing. There is a griddle built into the table and the pancake batter comes in squeeze bottles so you can let your inner artist out. There are a variety of toppings to choose from, fruits and savory choices as well as chocolate chips and nuts. They don't take reservations, we waited 30 minutes on a Sunday morning at 8 am. The wait was extremely long... both to get into the restaurant and to get our food. We got there at 8:10 am ish and got our food after 9:50 am. I understand that things maybe harder because of COVID-19 and socially distanced spaces, but even then our waiter was so slow. She spent so long just inputting our order into the system, and then they got our order wrong and had to remake it. Even then, the serving amount was disappointing -- there was only a little plate of food for the "classic breakfast meal" It was not a meal at all. Very disappointing for the long wait. read more

I would have given it 3 stars based on the generally tasty pancakes, but the coffee was weak and tasted "dirty" for lack of a better word. The service was the worst I have had in a long time. This is a fun concept with griddles at the tables to cook your own pancakes. They offer a choice of four batters and assorted add-ins and toppings. I chose chocolate batter with bananas and strawberries and was very happy with the quality and results. Here's the thing: the foods pretty good, the bartenders are quick and personable, but what happened at the end of my dining experience trumped any positive things I have to say about this restaurant. I decided to buy a shirt from here for my dad, and purchased it at the bar because the rest of the staff members were too busy doing things like folding napkins than to help a customer. I paid and walked outside to their waiting area to wait for my boyfriend. A staff member came outside after a few minutes of me sitting there in direct view of the doors. Instead of saying something like hello, she said "do you have your receipt for that shirt" in the rudest way possible. Now, I know critical thinking skills are hard for some, but do you really think I would pay my way to a Hawaii to come here and steal a shirt, then sit in front of the restaurant where I'm being accused of stealing said shirt. Needless to say I went in and got my money back, but no apology for accusing a paying customer of stealing. Save your money and time and go to somewhere else, there's plenty of incredible breakfast spots in Maui that isn't this one. read more

The food was delicious, pancakes are very fluffy, they asked if wether we wanted the custom pancakes or not and we didn't. So we got placed in a shorter line. My kids LOVE Slappy Cakes--wish there was one in California. We ordered simple options--a buttermilk batter and a chocolate batter, and let the kids go to work. They had a blast making their own cakes, and with the fresh fruit that went with it, it wasn't the worst breakfast we could give them. Long line for seating, business does not take reservations. There are technically two lines when you check in, a line for tables with cook tops and a line for normal tables. The cook top tables for the make your own pancakes is not worth it. The cook tops only have one burner under it, so, you can only efficiently cook one pancake at a time, in the center. Looking at the food the kitchen put out, it is a much better decision to have the people who do this for a living to cook your pancakes. Also, the stove top really puts off a lot of heat. We had the avocado toast and the classic breakfeast from the kitchen. It was good. The avocado toast was just a spread and not fresh avocados. Potatoes were good. Timing to have all food ready didn't work when you can only cook one pancake at a time. Service was super slow, lots of waiting around. read more

This restaurant lives on the tourists. If it had to rely on locals it would go bankrupt. Bottom line up front very little value. Save your money eat elsewhere. Our bill for 6 was right at $100. Remember this it's a pancake house not a fine dinning establishment. Two orders where wrong. My $6 biscuit and gravy was the worst I have ever had including navy chow halls. The biscuit was dense and over cooked. After eating about one quarter of it I decided to quit. The make your own pancakes is a great money maker for them. A small bottle of batter for $10 and anything extra at $2 an item. Except for fresh fruit which is even more. They say you will get 4 to 6 pancakes per bottle but to get 6 they will have to be very small. The only redeeming quality was the staff was very friendly. Fun place. My husband was skeptical because of all the kids (we are in our 50's) and it seemed so "juvenile," but I convinced him to chill. It was great and fun! We split the carnitas eggs Benedict and then made dolphin and starfish pancakes on our table top griddle. Only drawback, we arrived at opening time at 7am (still adjusting to time change) and we couldn't get a mimosa or Bloody Mary til 8, silly liquor laws.
