Soby's has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Greenville. The shrimp and grits are amazing! The Brussels sprouts appetizer is absolutely delicious. It's a wonderful place for date night or just a lovely dinner. You can request a table in the front by the windows to take in the view of the street or they have outside space with twinkle lights too. They have a lovely loft space. Be sure to check out brunch too! The eggs Benedict is tasty and the pecan bun is absolute perfection! The she crab soup is delicious too! The staff are friendly and very professional. They are happy to make recommendations, tell you more about your options, and meet your needs. I highly recommend making reservations and they have complementary valet parking! read more

This place is amazing! We had several appetizers (fried green tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, and the pimento cheese). Everything was so fresh and delicious. We had the tiger river salad that was INCREDIBLE. We ended with the shrimp and grits and absolutely loved it. Great service and very kind staff. You can tell that Soby has established itself as a strong withstanding restaurant in the Main St Greenville area. A good restaurant to stop by with family, including kids and grandparents, as there is something on the menu for everyone. While the cuisine, itself, isn't extraordinary, it is consistently good. What we found impressive is their attention to evolve with a) the times and b) the growing diversity of greenville's visitors and new residents. There's action being taken to meet consumers' interests, such as incorporating more local ingredients (like South Carolina Peaches on the French toast) and creative culinary dishes, like the salmon avocado toast. The shrimp and grits had plenty of shrimp, and satisfied both appetite and hunger. While TopSoil in Traveler's Rest had a superb Shrimp and Grits, Sobys certainly met the expectations. read more

Crab cake is another level. Just delicious. (Apparently award winning). The beet salad is really delicious. I think the only reason I did not give a full 5 stars is that I wish they offered the option of 2 crab cakes with the salad. The crab cake portion would be perfect with 2. (Which is I believe how they serve the entree version with potatoes. I tried to order the entree & sub the potatoes for salad. So we may have had a bit of confusion in ordering. And maybe I'm just craving another crab cake as I'm writing about them.) Service was top notch. Friendly. Attentive. Multiple staff checked on our table. I got the short rib. Amazing! Sides and all. Girlfriend got the salmon. That was good. But she had mashed potatoes and sautéed cabbage as sides. Both were incredibly over salted. Neither of us could eat her sides. I'm sure it's not the norm. Maybe it was an accident, bc my dish wasn't over salted at all. She's a dessert person and she loved both. We had dinner at Soby's a few nights ago, and I've been trying to compose the correct review. Last night at home, enjoying a dinner of hot dogs and homemade coleslaw, my wife suggested that it was much better than our Soby's experience. She was entirely correct. Our server ( Zachary) was great. ( One Star ) The ambiance was very enjoyable ( Add Another Star). The rest was truly lame: Poor menu variety, steak not cooked to order, cold soup, waaaay too much salt, miniscule portions. Summary? Fine dining at its worst. I've been looking for a new restaurant to entertain out-of-town guests. Soby's will not be on the list. read more

Soby's was recommended by our hotel and we were told by our concierge that it has "won several dining awards" but they must be based on industry politics because this place was just not it. The food itself was mediocre and nothing profound at all. The service is also mediocre and the building is nothing great. For the price go elsewhere. The only thing better than the food at Sobys, is the service. Candace was incredible! So attentive, so accommodating - it was as if you were having dinner in her own home and everything had been personally prepared. The venison best I've ever had. The shrimp and grits and the fried chicken I was nibbling off my children's plates. The truffle Mac is so decadent! Candace provided butter and honey with the most delicate biscuits. My son was insatiable. A very memorable dinner and a wonderful introduction to Greenville. I would strongly recommend to anyone who comes into town that your first meal is at Sobys. Pros: Server was nice and accommodating! The restaurant is clean. Bathrooms were clean; this was much appreciated. My meal was served hot. I could see when plates were put on the table for servers to pick up and our meals were not sitting for long. Cons: I ordered the Fried Chicken with Mac and cheese, haricots beets (also known as green beans). I give this meal a 2/10. Again the meal was hot, but I didn't care for the Mac and cheese with ham chunks or the chicken. I couldn't quite put my finger on what was off, but I just didn't enjoy it. What I did see that looked really good was the shrimp and grits and salmon and avocado. I will try again to give this place another try. read more

Went here with some amazing people and my friends had the beef short ribs which looked amazing. My other friend had the pork. I had the crab cakes which were delicious and the salad with Clemson blue cheese which was stellar some wine and good drinks and who could forget that ricotta cheesecake which was sooo good! I decided to visit Soby's for a work dinner with my boss, and it was a great experience. The restaurant is located downtown, and parking was convenient. The atmosphere was beautiful, and we were promptly escorted to a nice table. We were given the specials for the evening, and I chose the special a Brussels sprouts salad with chicken. I thought I shared about my wonderful experience at Soby's. There was a lot right next to the restaurant that was valet and operated by tip-based. The gentlemen were very nice.    I loved the atmosphere. There's outside patio seating, and then the inside is open. They also have an upstairs, which is where we sat. It was small but nice for a small group dining affair. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. They also provided great service.   The crab cake with the remoulade was delicious. It was a good size as well. The caesar salad was amazing, along with the cheddar biscuits. The braised short rib was really good. The macaroni and cheese was okay. Overall, the food tasted great, seemed of good quality, and was well prepared. read more

What a difference a chef makes. My wife and I went here about 2 years ago and were not very impressed. However the new chef seems to have revamped and improved on most everything in the menu. The she crab soup is much more flavorful and does not have that gummy texture it used to have. Could still use a bit more crab though. Shrimp and grits were excellent. Coarse but flavorful grits, with flavorful and nuanced sauce. The highlight was the grouper. Maybe the best fish dish in all of Greenville. Perfectly cooked fish with a counucopia of layered flavors which are too numerous to name. Great service and food. A definite winner! read more

Sobys is a downtown GVL staple for good reason. Above all though I love their weekend brunch. The shrimp and grits just won best in all of sc which is a big deal!!! They're sooo good with the best Tasso gravy and andouille sausage. The fried green tomato Benedict never misses either.
