Options they offer but close seating area here

Edit: HEALTH SCORE is C... I didn't know that before coming. Definitely not coming back!!!!! I was really looking forward to Sofeh because Persian food is one of my favorites and since we were already in Monterey Park it was an easy drive to their Los Angeles location. The reviews were strong so I went in with high hopes. Parking was the first headache because it's extremely limited around the area and we ended up walking from a few houses away after circling for a while. When we arrived, we realized it's all outdoor seating with no indoor option and on a warm sunny day that definitely made things uncomfortable. We approached the lady at the window to figure out how to order since there were no clear signs and the setup was a bit confusing. She wasn't outright rude but she wasn't friendly either, and that lack of warmth made the first impression feel cold. We ordered the lamb chops, chicken, and beef mix plate which came out to around sixty dollars for two people. The food took about twenty minutes to come out and you could tell it was freshly grilled by the smell, which I appreciated. When the food arrived it looked great and the portions were fair. The lamb chops were juicy and flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the beef was average. The rice had good texture and the salad was fine, but the sauces were laughably tiny, barely enough for a few bites. Unfortunately the biggest issue wasn't the food but the bugs. There were flies and bees constantly landing on the table and buzzing around our plates which made it impossible to relax. We tried to enjoy our meal but spent most of the time swatting them away. The fans they had running helped a little but not enough to make a difference. Another major disappointment was the lack of a restroom. For a restaurant serving food that you eat with your hands, that's a serious problem. They had hand sanitizer available but it's not the same as being able to wash your hands properly. Overall I would give Sofeh three out of five stars. The food itself was tasty, especially the lamb chops, but the overall dining experience fell short. Between the bugs, lack of shade, confusing ordering system, and no restroom, it's not somewhere I'd dine in again. It's better suited for takeout because while the food has potential, the atmosphere just doesn't make it worth sitting down for.

Second time here and came with my family. Beef lover plate was the best of the best. I never ate lamb and it was the bomb! Highly recommend this plate. Enjoy!

Ordered the lamb chop + chicken lule combo, some fries. Fries were delicious, but the lamb + chicken were rather dry, which was the main course of the meal. Portions are very generous. We definitely over ordered. Overall, a nice decently cheap meal. Good to stop by if it's convenient and you're hungry, but not worth a trek. Theres no indoor dining, but the patio area is pretty nice.

This is a small place with a very cute outdoor seating. There's not much shade from the sun though so bring your sunglasses or a hat. I got a plate of food. The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. I'm not sure what the other meat was as it tasted funny. I really liked the salad though.

Celebrated my boyfriend's work anniversary here! It's a bit pricey (and their hummus portions are very small) but the portions make up for it. Everything's always fresh, service is quick and attentive. There's and indoor outdoor side patio with lots of seating. Parking can be a challenge to find sometimes. Overall a great spot to fill all your Mediterranean cravings!!

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for so long but just haven't had the opportunity so this past weekend I was in the area and decided to go. The restaurant is really cute with outdoor seating patio. Staff at the order counter were nice. The price point is a little higher than other similar cuisine establishments. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. The chicken was soo moist and flavorful!! The rice is ok, not very flavorful. The portions were great. I also ordered the lentil soup. The lentil soup needs more lentils, it was mostly liquid. I would definitely try this spot again and try something else on the menu.

Food is amazing. Heard about it through friends from Gas Co. we were not disappointed. BUT NO RESTROOMS! And it's dine in. We came in from Beverly Hills. The ride was long we needed the restroom. FOOD IS GREAT!

It is better than their beef koobideh and barg, though those are still good. I have had better beef koobideh at other restaurants like Raffis or Shekarchi. Their bread is so fresh and is an elevated experience compared to the usual lavash bread that restaurants give. My friends had the salmon and they really liked it. The maast o khiar is really good too. The service is excellent - all the food came out quickly and the servers were nice. I will say I am Persian (and look very obviously so) and for some reason one lady only looked at/spoke to my husband and not me. I would say it's 4.5 stars because I was put off by this. Because large parties were gathered near the entrance, we were asked to move into the bar area while we waited. (The restaurant does not take reservations for groups smaller than five.) While waiting, I noticed several tables for four sitting empty on the patio. We were told we could check our place in line via text, but the message never updated beyond "You are 11th in line and should be seated between 7:03-7:09 p.m." After several trips back to the host stand, we were eventually told it would be another 11-12 minutes. We were finally seated at 8:06 p.m.--after waiting more than an hour. I would never wait this long for food anywhere. Unfortunately, the service after being seated did not improve the experience. We had to request menus, and initially were given only two. After placing our order, two additional menus were brought. We asked for water three times before it finally arrived. Later, when our entrées were brought out, the server had removed our silverware and we had to ask for replacements. We started with the Tahdig (crispy rice) served with two stew toppings: Ghormeh Sabzi (slow-cooked beef with sautéed herbs, kidney beans, dried lime, and special seasonings) and Gheimeh Bademajan- eggplant stew. The eggplant stew was definitely the better of the two. For salads, we ordered the Beet and Feta with Persian cucumbers, lemon juice, olive oil, feta, and mint--it was just okay. We also had the Shirazi salad with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, parsley, onion, olive oil, and lime juice. This is a classic combination and hard to get wrong, and it did not disappoint. For entrées, we tried the whitefish (charbroiled), which my friend felt was not as good as on a previous visit, and the Shish Kabob, which one of us really enjoyed. The true standout of the night was the Juicy Chicken. It was honestly one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had--boneless chunks of incredibly tender chicken, perfectly marinated and charbroiled over an open flame. It was the redeeming quality of the meal. I would give the Juicy Chicken five stars. That said, I would never wait over an hour for it again. While the Juicy Chicken alone would have warrented 5 stars, the service and wait time knocked it down to three. Unfortunately, dining in was not a pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. My family and I went here one afternoon and as we sat down, the attendant from the restaurant told us that the specific table we were sitting on wasn't part of the restaurant and we were not going to be served if we sat there in a very rude tone. We went ahead and moved. Then we went up to the cashier to order our food and the two people that were there were busy talking to each other in farsi about a customer that just came and didn't tip along with some very vulgar language. Then as we were ordering, we told them it was our first time and we got no smile or anything, very still faces like whatever. We ordered two Koobideh wraps and a few other things. It was very uncomfortable. The Cashier didn't even speak to us. As we sat down we were "served" after we HAD to ask if we get bread and onions and water because we saw that they were taking those things to other tables. The Koobideh wrap tasted like Rubber and you could barely hold it together as it was drenched with the sauce and all soggy. Even my 1 year old wouldn't eat it. We had to open up the sandwiches and eat them with a fork. It was not a good experience. Tip for the owner: You should probably remind your employees that some of your customers are Persian and they will understand them talking shit.
