Top tier Korean food. Does not disappoint! Their cold noodles are sooo refreshing and massive portions. Noodles are perfectly chewy and the broth is sweet savory perfection. My friend also loved her spicy bibimnaengmyeon! The bossam also hit the spot and I think $26 for the bossam + cold noodle combo is worth it bc it's definitely shareable. Service was super quick and all the banchan was spectacular and great variety. They were very attentive and food came out quickly. There's plenty of seating here and a nice space! Will be back for sure.

Came here for dinner with my fiancé because I was craving bossam and cold noodles. We were seated immediately. They took a little bit to take our order but the food was served quickly soon after that. The restaurant was spacious and wasn't too busy when we came. They have 2 jinro frogs in the front which are super cute too. They have combos so we ordered the combo with bossam and cold noodles to share. They split the cold noodles in half for us which was very nice and unexpected. Their Banchan was also really good. I'm a little picky with my cold noodles, but these ones were still good. The bossam was really yummy. Definitely give this place a try if you're craving Korean food! :)

This restaurant is located on the corner of Lincoln and Beach, down the street from Knott's Berry Farm. It's in the corner of a strip mall, so there's plenty of free parking. Met family here for lunch. We ordered dish #1, which they are famous for, like a hot pot; the Korean seafood pancake that was the size of a large pizza; and jap-chae, not pictured here. The main dish came with two small bowls of purple colored rice that tasted better than it looked. Many unique side dishes, along with the traditional kimchi. Complimentary, as always. Service was good. They greeted everyone who walked through the door. Atmosphere, same as other Korean bbq restaurants. The place was clean. Bo-dee-cha and cold water at the table. Chopsticks and soup spoons in a container at the table as well. I would definitely come back again when in the area.

Came here with a friend on a wednesday for lunch and it was pretty empty. few tables with older korean uncles and aunties and felt like we went to the right place. There was one lady who was serving running the food and cleaning and she was doing amazing. super sweet! bossam was delish! it was cooked with a marinade which helped give it more flavor. but the banchan??!! there was so many and i love their kimchi! the cold noodles were good but i'd rather save more space for the bossam next time. overall would come again!

My friend and I came here on a weeknight and we got the grilled octopus bibimbap rice and galbi full size. Although staff and service were very nice and friendly, I thought the food was just okay. The galbi portion was very small when it came out and I was very surprised, because it was expensive, $35! But the size was more of a combo size when you order with tofu at a tofu place... it was only two ribs cut up... I know you can def get a lot more at other places. The octopus bibimbap was flavorful and very spicy, this was okay also. Their banchan was also just okay. Overall, it was okay.

Came here on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy surprisingly. No wait for a group of 8 people. First impression of this place was that it was authentically Korean, and the Korean aunties were very nice. Service was actually better than the service I would get in LA K town to be very honest. Prices seemed on average with the other traditional Korean places out there. Got the bibimbip and beef bulgolgi combo, and both items were delicious and top quality. The food was not heavily salted/greasy, and I didn't get that heavy feeling after a Korean meal. The group I went with really liked their dishes they got as well, and they really liked the portion size for their meals. Also they were very generous with their banchan dishes, and they were of good quality as well. I really like their fish cake banchan the most. In my opinion, this is one of the best Korean restaurants to try in So Cal, and if I'm ever back in the OC area, it would be worth to try their other items as well.

Overall 3.5. Customer service: 3.5 stars Food Taste: 4 stars Very Pricey: 2 stars This was a very expensive late dinner meal for two. We walked in just a touch past 8:30pm (their last call). They first refused us, saying they were closed. They did however allow us to be seated and wanted us to order some kind of bulgogi casserole which we didn't want. We ordered spicy squid stir fry. It came with too many noodles and boiled bean sprouts. We just ate the stir fry. $32 My friend ordered LA Galbi. Just a normal portion. $32. The taste was deep and savory. The grilled onions were nice. Rice we got served was white. It wasn't really warm. It was kind of dried out. But when we wanted a refill they brought out a really nice multi-grain rice that was fresher, tastier. The ban chans were delish. We were able to get a few refilled. They gave us the check as soon as we ordered b/c she said she had to pay her workers, their tips. Maybe if I go back during normal hours, it will be better next time. It's a good sign when you see senior Korean golfers eating somewhere that means the food is legit.

Sonamu is tucked in a small plaza and you could totally miss this gem! This is definitely your hole in the wall type of place and I would be gatekeeping if I did not tell you how amazing this place is. First of all, this place is huge so you don't really have to wait in line. The food is delicious and the portions are huge! I tried the Korean hotpot, Korean pork rib, Korean kimchi stew, and the veggie pancake! Everything was delicious including the banchan they give you. The veggie pancake was flavorful and not very oily. It had a crispy top and the veggies were fresh. The pork ribs were on the spicy side but had enough kick to keep me wanting more. The hotpot was interesting since it was fried but had a good amount of soup to balance out the flavors. Served with purple rice, this was a lovely combination of flavors. This is the place for you to have a large gathering. They were able to fit all 16 of us and it was super fun getting to know the owners. Sonamu is authentically Korean and everything was very homestyle. Coming here again when I am in the area!

First time coming here. Was looking for a great gopchang stew. Hard to find one around anywhere that does it right without smelling bad. I came here as I was told this was the place to go to. I'm glad a went. This place was really good. The gopchang stew didn't smell at all. The broth was nice and packed really good flavors. Good portion, and probably one of the better gopchang stews I've had anywhere. Also had the noodles in white bean soup. This reminded me of when my mother used to make this for me. Glad you cannot taste the salt like many places. Instead you get this rich bean flavor. Very delicious. The who things we ordered were both extremely good. The service was great, and the staff were extra friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for good food. Based on what I've tried and the good tasting banchans, I would come back again for sure. Must try. Good food. Good service. Need I say more. read more

This was probably the worst dining experience I had. We went there in a Saturday afternoon. There were only two other tables that seemed like they were pretty much done with their meal. Even though they were not busy the service here was absolutely horrible. The waitress was argumentative and the service was completely non existent. She came by our table to take our order and drop off food. That was it. We literally had to go to the counter to pay our bill. They made a mistake and gave us the wrong food. We were trying to flag down the waitress to tell them but we literally couldn't get them to come over. We finally decided to give up a d have them take it off our order. When we went to pay the bill the waitress who never came back to our table after dropping off our food claimed we at the food. How could she know???? She literally never came to our table??? Service is absolutely the worst I've ever had. Besides the service the food is insanely expensive. They are sooooo cheap with the food it's crazy that they charge sooooo much. Avoid at all costs. This is one of the worst restaurants I've been to. AVOID! read more

Had the seasoned sliced beef, it sort of reminded me of shabu shabu but Korean style. I really enjoyed the quality of the broth/meat/veggies! All the sides (banchan) that came with the food were amazing! Parking is ample and service was awesome. Excited to come back and try other items on the menu :) read more

Incredible service and food! We got beef with beef broth and seafood pancake. Not only was it super flavorful and delicious, but the portion size is perfect for a group of 4. Super delicious food! After the recent change in management(October), the food quality went up and the menu changed but they kept some of the popular food items, such as the buckwheat noodles and yuk-soo bulgogi. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were greeted and guided toward the table. We were then given hot barley tea, which was perfect since the weather outside was cold. I ordered my favorite: soft tofu soup and my friend ordered spicy noodles and LA beef short rib. We also got a side of the mung bean pancake. The food was extraordinary and it made me wanting more. The service was really good as all the waitresses checked up on us multiple times during our meal. I know this will be one of my go-to restaurants whenever I crave a home-cooked meal! read more

First time having truly authentic Korean cuisine, not the atypical tofu soup and KBBQ. My favorite dishes were Spicy Pork Ribs and Kimchijjim! If you're feeling adventurous, I got the Black Sheep Cassorole. On top of the food, the service was fast. My side dishes never ran out. I don't say this often and considering how far it is from my home, but I would go back! I want to try the rest of their menu read more

Came here for a birthday dinner, very unassuming place, but the food is amazing. I can eat their side dishes here as a meal, they're so good but I had to stop to make room for the seasoned sliced beef with beef broth! The usual staple like japchae was also amazing! Came here with a group of 14 people, and we had an amazing time! The owners are very sweet, and they were very attentive! We ordered a lot more dishes that are meant to be shared. BEST NON BASIC KOREAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD!!! TRUELY A HIDDEN GEM / HOLE IN THE WALL. Seasoned sliced beef (bulgogi) with sliced white onions and a lil bit of potato noodles (the one used in japchae) accompanied with beef broth to pour in the moat of the grill while the bulgogi is cooking in the middle IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. There is a deal for the bulgogi dish with 2 choices of 3- 1) cold noodles in cold broth 2) spicy cold noodle ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND ) 3) wheat cold noodle AND ITS ALL FOR $22.99!!! (A GREAT DEAL, def can feed two female young adults, probably 3) My friend and I left the restaurant defeated, with food on the table (we were too full to finish... maybe we both shouldn't have ordered rice), but every bite from my spoon that consisted of bulgogi, the juices if the meat in the broth with the rice was absolutely delicious. We went on June 19th. The restaurant is quite big & had dividers between most of their tables with a bottle of hand sanitizer on each divider. All employees had a mask and gloves on and were extremely friendly. Our table was two tables long so they would place our orders at the opposite end of the table where we were sitting, showing effort of maintaining the 6 feet rule. **Dining procedures might have changed due to the virus** I absolutely enjoyed eating here, and if you choose to try Sonamu, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. read more

I came here last week for the first time. My parents bought it cause they really love it. And i was so surprised and how tasty it was. I don't know the names of the dishes we ate, but there's a dish that similar to shabu shabu. Soo delicious. Another was a spicy octopus dish with noodles mixed in. Very very good. The location isn't so great but please come visit. I've been to all the Korean restaurants near garden grove or Buena Park. So sonamu was a nice change. Really good traditional Korean food. I will definitely come again. :) And also they have good service!! read more

Great service and bomb authentic Korean. The Braised Cod is so savory and melts in your mouth. It mixes so well with the rice, so make sure you get a scoop of cod and the stew and eat with the rice. We got the Cold Noodle with the Napa Wrap! The cold noodles were so good and they give a really generous portion! The Napa wrap was more okay, I wasn't a huge fan of how the Napa was flavored. But the combo itself fed two people and the ban chan was so good! It's definitely been my go-to spot for cold noodles for the last two years! read more

Came was seated but they are extremely short staffed. If you do not alert the staff they will never know you are there lol! I also observed that they would serve every one without rice! Ask for rice when you order so they don't have to come back 30 minutes later! This is Saturday dinner so just a warning. Some people actually served themselves! Also the portions are really bad. Do not order the combos. After our food arrived they ran out of rice and had to make more. 20 minutes later after our food became cold the rice is still not here. The kimchi jigae was okay and the mackerel would have been okay, but our rice came 30 minutes after our meal. Not coming back ever. Not worth the wait. read more

My husband and I went there for lunch today. looks very quiet and there were less than 10 people inside restaurant. Anyway I don't like too many people around me. My husband got beef tofu w bulgogi combo and I got the spicy red pepper bean stew(kotchujang stew). We were waiting for the entrees and tasted their side dishes, small radish kimchi, reg Napa cabbage kimchi, salad, acorn jelly, spinach and soy seasoned black beans. To be honest, the first time was a lot better. I can say I regretted to come here for the 2nd time. Not fresh, not tasty, not attractions...any side dishes for me. For Entrees, Bulgogi was not tender at all, hard to chew it. My Kotchjang stew was just sweet w pork, tofu, squash. Dissapointed w quality and taste. I didn't take a food pic this time that is why... I told a male server to improve first at least side dishes, choose more tender beef for the popular dishes. This makes the new restaurant successful down the road. I suggested more affordable prices w good foods bring more people all the time. Should be consistent to maintain the taste and quality for the customers. DO Not go to this resturant. The service is so terrible. We went for dinner on Christmas day and waited 10 mins to be seated and the owner totally ignored us. Finally we got seated and waiting 10 mins to get the menu. The waitress was very rude taking our orderes and couldn't even get that right too. We ordered white rice and she gave us one barley rice and just throw it on our table. The resturant wasn't even busy. A few customers left before their food came out because they were fustrated and the owners were so rude about it. We decided to just for our food but the worst part was that the food was not all that. Whoever wrote these good comments on yelp was their family members or they were paid to this these reviews about this terrible resturant. read more

Food heaven!!!!! We ordered for pick up and they had to roll a cart out with all we ordered. And we are so glad we did! The #54 lettuce wraps with beef bulgogi (beef bbq) is amazing. I also had #59 soft tofu stew with beef and it's just amazing. Our crew also ordered #56 beef bulgogi bibimbap (rice bowl) and they just loved it. The sides dishes are so perfect and plentiful. All in all one of the best places we've eaten at in so long. Only negative is of course the styrofoam containers but I'm hoping post-covid i can just eat inside on the regular! So much more i plan to try from Sonamu! Just delicious and wonderfully made. read more

Hands down best Korean restaurant in Orange County area! They are doing take outs and also patio dine in! Nengmyun (Korean cold noodle) is only $4.99 and it is HUGE and delicious. I love cold noodle and tried many places but this place is the best. For its quality, this is a crazy promotion. Best dish for hot summer. They also have yooksu bulgogi and many other delicious dishes. I came here with my wife today (shes been fan of this place since they were in Garden Grove) and we left happy with full stomach. Owners and staffs are super friendly and generous. Really hope others can also support honest and great local business like Sonamu during the whole COVID pandemic. read more

This cute Mom & Pop Korean Restaurant was amazing! My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here and loved how authentic everything tasted. Our favorite was the seasoned sliced beef with broth We were also able to meet the owners and they were so welcoming and helpful! Portions too small, even their rice was half the size of other places e.g. BCD but they charge so much. $28 for Kalchi grilled fish for 3 small pieces and banchan side dishes so small. Tasted ok but they'll lose business this way. Delicious Table is better. read more

Truly authentic Korean food with an amazing variety of side dishes! The food is just like a Korean home-cooked meal and the place gives off a warm and welcoming vibe. All I can say is the food is really delicious and reasonably priced. We usually have combo (beef stew and cold noodle), and for less than $30, two people can have a nice meal. I really don't know how they still make profit, allowing this price. Side dishes are tasty as well and waitresses are friendly and ready to serve you. Thank you Sonamu. I can't wait til this pandemic is over so we can dine in again. read more

While staying in Anaheim, we were in search of a Korean restaurant and came across Sonamu, a cozy spot tucked away in an older retail shopping center. Despite its modest location, we were warmly welcomed by the wait staff upon entering, which gave us a good first impression. Curious to try something different, we noticed 육수불고기 (Yuksoo Bulgogi) on the menu--a seasoned sliced beef dish served in beef broth, which is not commonly found in most Korean restaurants. Since the dish required a minimum order of two, we decided to go for it. Along with the main dish, the restaurant served a variety of banchan (side dishes) that not only looked fresh but tasted good, adding a nice touch to the meal. However, when the 육수불고기 arrived, I couldn't help but feel that the presentation and the overall quality of the dish fell slightly short of expectations. The beef slices appeared to have more visible fat layers than I preferred, lacking the lean, high-quality cut that elevates this dish. The accompanying vegetables were standard and didn't add anything particularly special or flavorful to the dish. Once everything was cooked, the broth itself was just average--pleasant, but lacking the depth and richness that could have made it memorable. Service-wise, while the staff was friendly at the beginning, they were not consistently attentive during the meal. Even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, it was difficult to get assistance when needed, and we often had to help ourselves before any staff stopped by again. I searched here to eat the giblet hotpot. The restaurant was clean and the amount of giblet hotpot looked small, but I ate full. The food was delicious and the dumplings are also recommended. read more
