Their Beef Buritto (aka Beef Wrap) was incredible, the tender beef with the perfect ratio of sauce and green onion --the best thing I'd ever had. The Sweet Soymilk and Salty Soymilk were on point. Soong soong is definitely an OG for those of us that grew up in South Bay. The food selection here is huge, so I like come here when I can't make up my mind. The Jian bing was just alright the skin is too thick, but also not the worst one I've had (that would be at dough zone). Beef burrito contents were really good, I like the beef slices a lot. But it is a little dry so I wish they would put a little more sauce or some more sliced green onion/cucumber to make it easier to eat. We also got the salt and pepper pork lunch special and WOW. The pork was seasoned perfectly and fried crunchy and juicy. The portion was also very generous and for 12 dollars it came with a soup and rice. I've seen stores charge 18-20 dollars for the same portion without the rice and soup. Will definitely be back to try more lunch specials next time. The food is good! Lunch time is busy especially on weekends. Servers are busy and service sometimes can be below expectations. Pricing and portions are all better than many other restaurants here in the south bay, I would therefore recommend this restaurant. Well, they've changed the menu again, and this one is very impressive. Huge, huge list of lunch specials, many of them the kind that westerners would be unlikely to order, but there are plenty appetizing to my taste, The cumin lamb, a favorite you don't often see on such menus, was cooked in a western-friendly way, with very light spicing but chewy and interesting lamb with onions. Chinese restaurants have both Chinese and English names that never seem to match up. For instance, Soong Soong makes no sense to me but in Chinese it means something like "Waiter's second restaurant". This is like deja vu because I then realized that I have returned to the same restaurant that I had been to decades ago before Yelp existed. Anyhow, a bunch of my colleagues and I came here and we had an assortment of dishes. Some of the more noticeable ones were the custom small appetizers, tea smoked duck, and the onion pancakes. Why something as trivial as the onion pancakes... this jogged my memory a bit. So back in the hay days, I remembered coming here for their Northern-Chinese style snack foods such as millet porridge, 5-spice beef tendons, pig ears, pan-fried beef cakes. I think the reason why I wasn't too thrilled about the food for this review is because my group did not order the same kind of food that I had in the past for which they were originally known for. Soong Soong may not look like much on the outside, but it actually has some legit Chinese food! It helps if you speak Mandarin, but that should not stop you from eating here. Some of my favorite dishes include the green onion pancake, salt & pepper pork chops and lion's head meatballs. Portions and prices here are fair and the food seriously does not disappoint.
