I visited the Atlanta History Center for the afternoon. I was traveling from the Los Angeles area. I was leaving the Center and decided I would check to see if there was food available. I happened into Souper Jenny's and I'm glad that I did. I wish we had one near where I live! I had the turkey chili and a couple of really good cookies. The chili was great and if I would have been staying in Atlanta another day I would definitely have gone back. Food looked great and it's a fun atmosphere. Easily one of the best, low key kitschy restaurants in Atlanta. Service is wonderful, the menu changes daily and the staff is really cool. The line can get a little long sometimes and you may be waiting but you also get your food immediately once you get to the counter. It is amazing. read more

its a counter, folks,,, you stand in line, order, get your food, then toddle off to find a table NOT occupied by someone staring at their laptop & talking to space thru earphones or whatever those people do when they sit & just stay. rather rude, isn't it ? but there's no management to this place & the behind-the-counter people have no interest - no one steps up anymore. everything's made off premises so no substitutions when ordering,,, chili is spicy so beware. turkey is bland so that's normal. evidently a change since feb - no tasting/sampling offered yesterday. 2 blocks e is capital grill where they serve BEEF & other normal foods laced w/GLUTEN ! ! ! There is always a line, and in that line, I always wonder why there is only one Souper Jenny. It wouldn't be so unique if there weren't only one. Here you can always get a guaranteed homemade fresh meal, the $12 lunch, usually makes two meals for me. Nothing tastes rehashed, except for the menu sometime. Jenny's got some staples, but thankfully, as of late, she's mixing it up a little more. Grilled Cheese Night is the only night they're open for dinner. This night is almost magically, definitely a girl's fest. Bring your own bottle of wine, enjoy the comfort of a spiced up grilled cheese, and make smores, just don't get stuck sitting in the kids room. read more

We continually frequent the Brookhaven location. A few weeks ago, we had an issue with our lunch. We made their team aware of it, and they were so amazing with their customer service. Within an hour, two people from their team had already contacted me to resolve the issue. We love the food at Souper Jenny, and we love to support local businesses. Their customer service and smiling faces behind the counter have certainly made an impact on us. I love the food here and have been coming here a long time. However, I came here today and was very disappointed. The man behind the counter was extremely rude and angry for no reason, and gave me very small portions of $10+ worth of food. I ordered a salad with avocado, and he gave me a tiny amount of greens with no avocado on them. Seems like a waste of money. read more

Nice Healthy Lunch. Went here for lunch with a co-worker. Great soup! I had the Tomato, Artichoke, Parm Soup. I was looking for something light, and this place hit the spot. It's everything you have heard--super good, fresh, creative soups, salads and sandwiches in a fun, colorful, personal space. You get whatever at the counter and sit down, maybe at a communal table. Many many veg choices--weight watcher points on the menu board. All the staff are actors, and our counter guy proved it by projecting a funny, well modulated tenor self deprecating speech to entertain us while the line snaked out the door into 20 degree weather. One of the select few gems of Buckhead. Get past the ridiculously girls-college-dorm-room decor and enjoy some good soup. Check the menu on their site before you head over so you know what you're getting into. The chicken tortilla is probably my favorite but I've only been a couple times. With the name Souper Jenny I assumed there would be lots of soups but only 4 were offered--2 being cold soups. Ehhhh. I did the 12/$ lunch special--chicken soup and half a sandwich-canned drink and obviously not a made in- house cookie. Soup was pretty good and generous portion but not hot ---barely warm. Sandwiches are pre-made---I had the veggie and it was good although the pita bread was somewhat soggy. The cookie made me mad--for 12/$ have some creativity! Not some Sysco frozen cookie!!!! I think with Souper in the name there should be at least 6 soups offered daily---at least --and more hot than cold. read more

I love this place for lunch. It's exactly what you want on most days - a good sandwich and a variety of soups to choose from, all good and all very flavorful. They have good prices and great quality. It's so good, I don't even care that it's cramped on most days and that you may have to give a dirty look to someone who is obviously done eating but chooses to linger in order to snag a table. Really, I don't mind. Just wish it was in a more convenient location. read more

I finally got to go when I was visiting in May... and it was awesome! I had carrot and ginger soup and a salad with like feta cheese and tomatoes and it was delicious... I saw jenny wandering around and working while I was there and wanted to tell her of my plight to finally taste her food... but she seemed too busy to ever catch her. I went back to LA and a few days later randomly caught her appearing on the Today Show... I do love Souper Jenny and hopefully they will be open when I am home in November - so that I may go again! read more

These are my people! I love how Souper Jenny supports the arts and our community. I may hate driving into Buckhead because I live and work OTP, but Souper Jenny is always worth the trip. I would go more often during my lunch hour, but I would spend most of it waiting in line. You know a place is amazing when the line wraps around the entire parking lot. Everything I've had has been "souper" tasty and healthy. I especially love to go on Grilled Cheese nights....the sandwiches are always so warm and filling. I work around the corner but never had the chance to stop in until yesterday. I agree with a previous review on here- I was a little surprised to see only a couple of soups offered. I think I was expecting more of a Hale and Hearty (soup bar in NY) kind of place with a wide variety of soups to choose from. There were 2 hot soup selections and the rest cold selections. Perhaps in the winter time they offer more hot selections? The staff at the counter was friendly but when I walked in I felt like they were looking at me funny- like "What are you doing here?" Still they were friendly enough- even it was "faux friendly." I chose the "Greek" soup and took it to go. It was a bit pricey- a small container of soup (a little over 2 cups) was $6.00. It was delicious though- not quite sure THAT delicious though for the price. They also gave me a tasty seeded roll to go with it (not sure if they charged me for that) Also what a found strange is that I was looking to also purchase a bottle of water but they only had sodas and juices. I think this is more a sit down place than a to-go place. I will give it another whirl when I crave good soup. Sadly, I didn't fall in love. read more

What an adorable place for lunch! I really enjoyed the Yellow Squash and Corn soup, it was so sweet and had the perfect texture. I typically stop eating bread halfway through any sandwich that I eat, but the onion roll was so tasty on the Grilled Chicken Sandwich that I couldnt help but enjoy all of it. The staff was extremely polite and I loved the feel of the restaurant, 'very homely'. The only down side to Souper Jenny is that I live in New Jersey and I can only enjoy it in Atlanta! Souper Jenny. The only thing I don't live about this place is that I don't find myself there often enough. And having to wait in a line outside when it's cold. Apparently, other people don't have the problem of not finding themselves there! I had the butternut squash-apple soup and a roll when I was there (vegan soup, vegetarian roll) and it was awesome. Fresh, warm, filling, smooth (without being too smooth)... So tasty! My friend had the chicken tortilla soup and half of a pita. The bowl she got was ENORMOUS! (I had soup envy there for a minute) She said it was perfect, though. We got a table, but I think we were lucky. It's the kind of place that you can linger at, but there are always people looking for a seat, and you don't really want to get the evil eye. I love Souper Jenny because of their selection- always have several vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and "normal" options. I am not all of these, but I have at least drifted into them at some point in my life (remaining vegetarian for the duration), and I love having places where it isn't an issue AND I sacrifice neither taste nor selection. read more

What more can I say that hasn't already been said here about how great Souper Jenny is! She serves a choice of 4-6 fresh made soups, as well has a couple of unique sandwich and salad choices. The food is delicious, and the menu changes everyday. The restaurant has an eclectic feel, favoring the performing arts as most of her staff themselves are performers. She also sells "take-out" soups. Her wholesome concoctions have saved me many a night when I needed a break! The line winding into the parking lot can be overwhelming, so I recommend going during off peak hours. If you get there when they open at 11am, you are sure to get in at the front of the line. read more

This place is amazing! The daily deal is the best value in town. Sandwich and soup or salad, generous portions, plus lots of little extras like homemade bread and cookies that make you want to slap your grandma. I had the turkey chili and a grilled zucchini salad. Both were hearty and filling, while somehow managing to remain light. The portion sizes are very generous but I managed to eat it all. Jenny has thought of everything, from providing an insanely large drink selection to putting the wastebaskets and to go boxes in convenient locations.
