This review is long overdue. Made reservations to come here with my husband and 2 teenaged kids since we all enjoy Indian food. The minute we walked in the staff was very rude. Although the restaurant was fairly empty I told the waitress out of courtesy we had reservations. She looked at me funny and said, "okay" with an irritated tone. The service, as well as the way the staff treated us was so bad I thought we were being punked. We were seated in the middle of two other groups and it was apparent we were being treated differently! I even tried ordering basmati rice (it's on the menu) and 2 different waitresses acted like they didn't know what I was talking about even mimicking me, then I heard the table to the right of us order the same thing with no problem! This is only 1 example of how rudely we were treated. This was our first time going to this restaurant and the worst experience we have EVER had going out! Our children even noticed how awkward it was. It was so bad we had to laugh about it. We even joked that maybe my husband reminded the waitress of a bad ex-boyfriend! We went there around 9:25 & their closing time is 10 but they welcomed us & we were the only customers in the place (4 of us). Sai took care of us with his chef (who has 30 yrs experience in cooking different dishes from around the world). Pomfret (one of the best tandoori fish from Bombay) was amazing & i even took one to go. Truffle chicken as always delicious, cheese with jalapeños kul ha was great starter. Great service yet again. Made a reservation for this restaurant over a week ago for New Year's Eve, was so looking forward to it as my husband and I love Indian food and just moved nearby. We walked in and were told that the restaurant was booked for a private event, I never received a text, call or email regarding the closure. Not to mention I received a confirmation email and text about my reservation. I speak to the owner who claims we can eat but have to be out within 45 minutes, we wouldn't have enough time to order our food and enjoy it. By the time we order and receive our food we'd probably have less than 20 minutes, not acceptable. Such a let down on a holiday no less, we were looking forward to it . Normally I am not one to leave a distasteful review but this visit definitely deserves one. My family and I decided to try out Spice Social for lunch today and I am genuinely appalled by the service quality. The food was very mediocre which already made us not want to return given the amount of other Indian food options in the area. Back to the horrible service tho. Let's start off with my Mom's drink. The people behind the bar were some of the most incompetent and clueless bar staff I have seen. She at first attempted to order a mixed drink off their menu which somehow confused the staff due to the lack of knowledge of their menu. She changed her order to one of the beers on tap which we then realized was a mistake. It took their bar staff 4+ full glasses to correctly pour a beer. It was clear the staff have 0 training which is not their fault but still very disappointing. After ordering our food and making it very clear the plain naan could not have butter on it... the plain naan came out with butter. After sending it back and watching them fail to remake it without butter. Wasting more time. The third batch finally came out with no butter. The woman who brought it out to our table appeared to be a manager or owner of the establishment. With no apology from staff or her, we kindly let her know that the food was now cold and that we were unhappy with the situation. Her response was laughter along with saying "they didn't write it down". That is an absolutely ridiculous way to act infront of customers who are unhappy with the service your staff is providing. We will never be back and I strongly recommend you avoid this restaurant and make your way to one of the many other Indian restaurants in the area. read more

If you didn't like authentic indian, you may like this. No serving booze yet as of April. FYI... If you have a big party, an 18% service charge is added to the bill, the server told us that the owner keeps all of it. So leave extra gratuity on top of that. read more

I had bookmarked this restaurant for a while. Even though I had tried their food via doordash, something told me to go try it in person. Eating in a restaurant is a wholesome experience when you see people behind it and chef Gursagar does it right. He cares about his patrons and what's being served at his establishment deeply and it shows. He's in the scene, busy working at the tandoor, interacting with people and bringing food over, taking feedback oh so positively. We started with north Indian specialty, papdi chaat. Right from the first bite I could tell papdis were made fresh and so were the chutneys. Generous portion, though I would have been equally happy with half of what I was given. Delish. For mains we got mixed breads with kadhai paneer and veg korma. Kadhai paneer had a hint of smokiness with soft, melt in your mouth paneer. Veg korma was a delicate cashew based sauce with broccoli, peas, carrots and snap peas. I am not a fan of kormas generally and I was skeptical seeing that it had broccoli but I was pleasantly surprised. There was no off-putting smell from the broccoli rather it was so good I kept taking more. Lastly we were surprised by chef with a plate of Kulfi that gave this dinner a perfect ending. Rich milk and nuts based kulfi with a hint if saffron topped with strawberry sauce. It was too good and we almost licked our plates clean. So darn good. I will be back to try their meat dishes very soon. Lastly, their tandoor team needs a special mention. Fresh breads from the oven instantly reminded me of India. It's hard to find good tandoori breads in US but they know how to get it just right. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner. We ordered Ambarsariya Kulcha as an appetizer. And Chicken Tikka Masala, Ludhiyana Da Special Chicken with rice, garlic naan, and Ras Malai with dessert. I have been here few times with friends and the food is amazingly delicious. Very clean, well maintained and classy place.

The ambiance is great. The exposed brick and industrial lamps give it a very different look compared to other Indian restaurants. The food was delicious with decent portion sizes. They do not serve alcohol but it's in downtown Fullerton so plenty of bars at walking distance from the restaurant. For appetizers we ordered gol guppay - they were mediocre especially for the price. For the entrée we ordered goat curry with garlic naan - the goat curry was very flavorful and something we would definitely order again. For dessert we ordered gulab jamun - they were light and not super sweet but delicious. 10/10 recommend checking this place out! read more

We had the jalapeno and cheese kulcha, spice naan wrap, and chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. Everything was flavorful and delicious! What an amazing meal! The flavors and spice was just phenomenal! We got the Aloo Tikki Chaat and the Samosas to share. The tangy sweet tamarind and spicy green chutney were so rich and flavorful. I've never had authentic Indian food until I came to Spice Social in downtown Fullerton last night! As I enter the restaurant, I was greeted by Gursagar with a big welcoming smile. The restaurant setting is contemporary and very clean, including the restroom. We ordered Murgh Tandoori Chicken which is creamy, luscious, and spicy; Goat Curry which I never had before, was full of flavor and the meat, cooked perfectly tender and juicy; Dhabha Chicken delicious curry that's hot, fragrant made with ground spices, onions and tomatoes; Biryani rice was cooked to perfection and of course, we had the fresh garlic naan. It was a gastronomic experience! My only regret is I wish I took some photos of this delicious food! We were so hungry and couldn't wait to eat with the aroma permeating the air. They're not serving alcohol yet as they're still waiting for their license, but the bar is looking very good. I will definitely come back here again and try some more of the wide array of food on their menu. Kudos to our lady server who is very friendly, the chefs, and to Gursagar for a very warm welcome. Spice Social (formerly Miirch Social) is under new ownership so we decided to try it out because we used to enjoy the food and atmosphere of Miirch. They currently don't have their liquor license, which sucks, but we still decided to give it a shot. We ordered: Samosas (3/5) - good flavor, bf thought they were dry. Mine were covered in tamarind and chutney so I didn't notice. Smoked Chicken Tikka (4/5) - great flavor and well cooked but at $20 for 5 pieces and a garish salad, it was overpriced. Chicken Tikka Masala (2/5) - nothing special flavor wise and it doesn't come with rice. For it being $19 for a small bowl, it should come with the option of rice or naan bread at that price point. Garlic Naan Bread (5/5) - hot, fluffy, crispy. No complaints! Chicken Biryani (4/5) - great flavor. I love the raita that comes with it, though I wish there were more pomegranates and avocados like Miirch had. Also, on top of the chicken, there were 2 large pieces of beef in it. Not a deal breaker but a little random. Service (0/5) - our drinks never got refilled until asking and we had to ask drink by drink for refills (e.g. water vs soft drinks). If all cups are empty, wouldn't you think to refill them all? Especially given the water cups are so tiny. We weren't the only ones experiencing this because I heard TWO other tables flag down the server, asking for water. She also never stopped by to take our entree order and we were just sitting there with empty plates, trying to flag her down. But the crazy thing is that she wasn't busy. Instead of tending to the tables, she was hanging out at the register, talking to her coworker. Overall, Spice Social is a good 3/5 but paired with the overpriced menu and lack of service, we decided to drop it down to 2/5. We likely won't be back simply due to the food being overpriced. Sad because we loved having a second Indian food spot to choose from for when we felt like going out. read more

Let me start off by saying: I don't like Indian food. I just don't. It's not at the top of my list of foods "I crave." So when someone suggested this place I rolled my eyes, but since everyone else wanted to eat here I tagged along. Holy hell, this place is delicious. Like so so good. Every recommendation was spot on. The waitress was really sweet and I'm assuming the owners were so so nice and kept filling our waters. The only downside about this place is that it is place is in the process of getting their liquor license. Wahhhhhhh. All we wanted was a glass of wine. You can look at and admire the booze on the shelf but you can't order anything. You can bring in your own wine, but my only hang up on this place is that it charges $25 corkage. That's outrageously high. $10-$15 okay. $25?? That's like the price in Newport Beach esp bec we would have order drinks in house. Buttered chicken Samosa (the sauce is def homemade and so good) Mala truffle chicken Ludhiyana da special chicken Chicken tiki masala Bhatti ka jhinga (We ordered a few other dishes but do not recall) We always get garlic naan but as a recommendation from the waitress we order a flaky bread (don't know the name) so so good!! Finally tried this place today and had a wonderful experience. Friendly, quick service and delicious food. I got the butter chicken poutine. Others in our group got the kheema pav which was also delicious. I love that they have a variety of mocktails on the menu. We ordered three of them - katta lemonade, aampanna, and watermelon cooler. All 3 were very good. When we came in, the music they were playing was just regular American pop music. We kept commenting amongst ourselves how we wished the music was Indian. The guy sitting next to us with his family made the comment to the waitress - that he'd enjoy his time more if the music was Indian. They immediately changed it and it really did change the whole atmosphere. It was so nice to see that they listened to his feedback immediately. I made sure to also comment on how much I loved the music change, it fit much better. We will definitely be back to try more food!! We weren't as hungry today so we got small bites. Looking forward to trying the biryani and other main courses so happy to have an amazing little Indian spot like this right here in Fullerton! read more
