Stopped because I was in the mood for Chinese. This place was empty when I walked in. After eating there I know why. The fried rice was little more than rice, soy sauce, and a single egg thrown into a five gallon pot to cook. Pretty much flavorless. They serve a good amount of food on the lunch plate for a very reasonable price. Sadly it is lackluster and the house special beef has an unidentifiable flavor and causes numbness in the lips and tongue. This is far from the worst Chinese place I've been in, but it is one I won't be frequenting again. It's sad that grocery store Chinese has become the bar and Panda Express seems to be who everyplace is emulating. read more

I have been getting lunch here for the past few weeks and I am never disappointed. Easy parking, very quick service, amazing lunch deals. Under $8 bucks come on you cant beat that. Great little lunch spot! Probably great for dinner too! The restaurant was pretty empty, but we were early. The phone rang a lot for Take-Outs while we were there. Lunch was about $7 and that included an entree with rice, choice of white, brown, or fried. Wontons with a nice sauce, a crab rangoon, Spring Roll, and a choice of soup. We had the Hot and Sour and it was delish! We thought the portions were pretty big for lunch and we brought enough home for supper. Definitely worth a try. read more

Is it really 5 stars? I don't care - what I do know is that this is the best Chinese in the area. The food is great because it is cooked just right. The vegetables aren't the limp cheetos in sauce that you get at other places, and the Szechuan is just what I like. (To be sure, you may want to ask for more spice if that's what you like). Once, I ordered takeout and it wasn't ready when I showed up. There was a mishap with an order for delivery and a fender bender or something that put off all the orders by 5 minutes or so. The owner could not have been nicer, apologizing and heaping extra egg rolls, soups, and rangoons in the bag with my pre-paid order. I live a bit farther away now, and I have tried a couple of places closer to my house. But each of them seems to charge an extra $1.50 or $2 for entrees over Spicy House. Summary? Definitely the best Chinese I've had in Longmont to date. I love the jalapeño chicken, Szechuan beef, beef & broccoli, and all the fried rices. The only thing I've had there that wasn't to my taste was the Mongolian beef, but everyone else loved it. Had more of a smokier/grilled flavor. The delivery is fast and the staff is friendly. Not just the worst Chinese food, but some of the worst food I've ever had period. Ordered the appetizer combo, veggie tofu soup and beef with broccoli. 1st issue, ordered through their website and after I placed the order it never updated and they didn't ring or knock so I had zero delivery confirmation. Then when it did finally arrive it was lukewarm at best- the place is less than 2miles away, red flag. The shrimp in the combo were mushy and if they didn't have the tail stuck on I would've never guessed they were shrimp- definitely not fresh, trashed. The beef satay was literally shoe leather and could not be chewed- trash. Egg rolls and wontons were so mushy they joined the garbage pile after barely a bite a piece. The ribs were the only ok thing flavor wise but they were so dried out there wasn't much meat left to enjoy. So after trying to find anything edible in this combo we moved to the beef and broccoli which smelled more promising- nope. The broccoli was cooked ok but that's were it ended. The beef was the same rubber as the appetizer and yet there were mushy pieces of something, what really stopped us from eating was the salt level. After about 4-5bites my tongue started to hurt from the excess salt. Bleh. I added it to the growing garbage. Veggie soup- meh. I think at this point I was so disappointed I gave up. It was edible but that's about all I can give it. Bland and little variety of veggies but it was edible. Overall this was a pathetic excuse for food, save your money and tastebuds go somewhere else- zero stars! read more

Very good and filling Chinese food. I plan to order more food from here in the future. However, I will order for take-out and not dine-in like I did this time. The atmosphere is dull, my party was the only one in the restaurant, and our server was not very knowledgeable about the menu. I was quite diaappointed with my meal tonight. I had a simple order - bowl of Hot Sour Soup and Drunken Noodles - I specified "very spicy, 4.5/5" which at every other Chinese/Thai place usually has me sweating by the end of the meal...Thai hot is HOT but for a Thai dish at a place called Spicy House, it was so mild I literally could have fed it to my teenager kids and they wouldn't have called it spicy. There were a few slices of jalapeno thrown in but even they had zero kick to them! The hot sour soup was neither spicy nor sour. In fact, the overwhelming flavor was salty/sou sauce and the color was an unappealing very dark/soy sauce brown. I won't be dining here again. read more

Really homey Chinese restaurant. I find it to be the perfect balance of being a 'hole in the wall' and feeling comfortable, haha. Anyway, the staff is incredibly friendly and the food.... it is AMAZING!!! Really close to being fully authentic. Tastes incredible and they give generous portions. The prices are also really low. This place is delicious! I was very impressed. We stopped in for take out and it was quick. The food was piping hot and fresh. I got the Hunan Tofu with brown rice (love that they have that option) and it was perfect-spicy, I didn't even have to add Sriracha, which I almost always have to to make it as spicy as I would like. We have ordered a few times, and it's been hit or miss. The only constant is that spicy food is actually spicy which we enjoy. Too few places will make good spicy. We have had issues with our order every time though. White rice instead of the rice we ordered. Items being left off the order, we weren't charged for them but they were things we wanted so it sucked. The non spicy food is a bit bland, like they aren't good at seasoning if it's not spicy. We keep ordering because it's good food mostly, but every time we know it's a gamble. We sure would like to have everything right on our order! read more

Have been eating here for a while. It's very close to my place of work but the food quality has been going down pretty recently. I use to love the sesame chicken but now its hit or miss (either super spicy or very bland). If I was to get take out Chinese in this town I would go somewhere else if I have the opportunity. I ordered the mushroom chicken, the mushu shrimp, and the lomein chicken. I also got seafood hot and sour soup as well as crab cheese wontons. This place is perplexing. When its good, its really good, but they do little things to bomb good dishes. Case in point. The mushroom chicken had canned mushrooms in them. The mushroom chicken tasted like it came from a can. The lomein was good, and the Mushu was excellent. The hot and sour soup had bad artificial seafood in it. if they had added a few shrimp in it, it would have been great hot and sour soup, but the artificial crab was nasty when put in this soup. In short, they cut a couple corners on fresh ingredients, and runined a few dishes. I will not be going back here. You should never get canned mushrooms in a mushroom chicken. This is the worst experience I've ever had not to mention the most disgusting burnt black hard unidentifiable food substance I've ever been that unfortunate to receive, after paying over 35 dallors. After receiving the order late there was about 15 minutes left until their closing. So I called and no one answered. Then I called again the phone rang over and over again until someone picked up the phone and hung up on me. When I called back and finally got through the woman who answered the phone was very rude and unprofessional. She told me that the hard black hunks of food was how they prepared that dish. I explained that that was not what I wanted and I would gladly give the food back if I could get a refund. This is the closest Chinese food place to my house and it sounded good when I researched it, the experience however is much different. I've attempted to eat here 3 times. The only sign of life is the bright neon open sign, beyond that I doubt it's even inhabited. The doors are locked which I assume is due to Covid. First time I went I knocked and nobody came to the door. I noticed a sign saying to call, so I did and nobody answered and I left. Second time I went similar story but this time I was looking in the window, I could see workers in there but again nobody answered the door or phone. Third time I didn't attempt to get out of the car I sat there and called over and over for around 5-7 minutes before I decided it wasn't meant to be. Couldn't tell you about their food because they don't seem to want to serve it, it feels more like you're going down someone's house and they don't want to be bothered by you, you never ever see any cars in the lot, it's a wonder they can afford to stay open. read more

I ordered takeout for my girlfriend and myself tonight. - Crab cream-cheese won-tons, - Mongolian beef - Combination Chow Fun - Scallion pancake The Won-tons were fine, nothing to mess up there - cream cheese in a Won-Ton wrapper fried. Does any Chinese restaurant actually put crab in them? I think not. The Scallion pancakes were actually inedible. They were incredibly dense, dry and chewy. I failed to detect the presence of a single scallion. Mongolian beef is basically fried beef in a ton of onions, scallions and a brown sauce. The scallions were cut in into large pieces and were too raw. The white onions were pretty raw as well. Both should have been cooked to tender over a hot flame to char for flavor and get rid of the sharp bitter flavors of raw and to soften the texture. The sauce was bland on both main dishes. I'm bummed that this turned out so bad. The reviews I read were generally favorable. I won't be ordering from Spicy House again. read more

Smelled unclean as I walked in, but I thought maybe it was just me. This was a total disappointment, especially since the yelp reviews were so good. I got the Kung Pao chicken, which came out with the peanuts uncooked on top, obviously thrown on at the last minute. The sauce tasted bland and canned. The ingredients were not the traditional ones in good Kung Pao. When my husband complained to the server, the owner came out and argued with him, even though he was very polite and even toned.
