I used Stanley Steemer for years in my old house, but when I moved, I had a Groupon for a less expensive cleaner. They didn't do the job that Stanley Steemer did, and I called SS for this recent cleaning. They came when they said they would, and were very professional. They moved some of the furniture that I thought that they would clean around. They were very friendly, and very fast, cleaning my 3 room and 2 hallways in just over an hour. Since the early nineties, I've employed Stanley Steemer to clean our carpets. The company has also restored our marble and cleaned upholstery; plus, they've stretched our Great Room carpet--all to our satisfaction (and at great cumulative expense). Guys like Ezekiel and Lou (today's crew) are why I've continued to use the company. They do good work for us. For years, upon scheduling appointments, I've answered questions to the best of my ability in agreeing to a reasonable bid. Problem is, once workers arrive, they inevitably dispute the written, in-hand bid I've been given. Truth be told, workers don't seem at all comfortable with the script their company managers hold them to, but they want to keep their jobs. In no way do I blame workers for trying to do what they are told. Given our Great Room (main floor) and Master Bedroom (top floor), I understand why it's difficult to agree to labels for spaces that are not defined by walls. But that problem was resolved (I thought) some three years back when I asked the phone rep to store my information in a master computer file so that, whenever I call, they know precisely what spaces I'm asking to be cleaned; plus, they would have on hand previous bids for the very same spaces. At one point, if I'm not mistaken, I even passed on an 8-1/2 x 11" Floor Plan to simplify the discussion. When I called for our latest appointment, the rep started up again with standard questions--e.g., "Is that a hallway, or is it part of a room yet to be labeled?" Thankfully, upon reminding the rep that Stanley Steemer has all that info stored on file, she had no trouble accessing it. Straightaway, she issued a bid to which I agreed; and she informed me that servicemen would honor the 15% discount that had yet to be applied. On the day of our appointment, immediately upon arrival, Ezekiel insisted that his manager would not let him do the job for the sum quoted (Confirmation # 2149605). Ezekiel called his manager from our home, but I was not allowed to speak to him. The inflated price would stand. Minutes later, when I called the manager's 800-number (with extension), he was "not available." Not to me anyway. To avoid contention, my husband and I agreed to pay the inflated bait-and-switchc harge, but we informed Ezekiel that--no fault of his--we'd be dropping Stanley Steemer as our service provider; and we'd be posting negative reviews on line. To curtail further use of bait-and-switch trickery, I am inclined to notify the Attorney-General's office as well. When we were told we'd get a call before arrival (somewhere between 8 AM and noon), but didn't, we were inconvenienced; but the oversight was no deal breaker. We knew floors would be slippery, so we didn't complain that the usual caution signs were not posted, nor did we fuss when wood furniture was placed directly on wet carpet without protection. We simply moved the furniture to dry ground after the crew left. However, "bait and switch" is a dishonest ploy that we cannot and will not tolerate, especially given the extraordinary effort over many years that we've put into securing an honest, reliable bid. I have been using Stanley Steemer for a year now. Every 4 months I have my carpets cleaned. They have cleaned my car as well and my furniture. Every time they perform excellent quality service and provide perfect customer service. Their staff is friendly. No complaints. Carpet always looks like new. read more

Folks, I would strongly advice not to hire these folks. I had a water damage due to washer box/laundry box valve connection, which created leakage through the walls and floors were wet. Two gentlemen came with surface/ipad's, did showcased as they were experts in taking care of water damage and removing molds. They were recommended vendor from my insurance. Folks were clearly cutting corners, taking instructions from insurance like saying no need to cut drywall which had water leak. We can just dry from outside and we will get another mold detection company who can pinpoint if any mold or not. They did not check if drywall had insulation or not and left a dehumidifier machine for 7 days without any further follow up's. I did my homework with two another water damage and restoration companies. Through insurance paid ~$575, for absolutely no work performed from these Stanley Stealers. Lesson learnt, never believe insurance guys completely and don't let preferred vendors do the work. Do your homework by getting your estimates from other vendors and go with your choice. read more

If I could indicate NO STARS, that would be appropriate. We wanted only traffic areas through the living room and dining room and the hallway. Online quote was $127. The guy with the clip board arrived and said they had to turn a corner to do the 3 feet in the hallway so the job would be $168. I cancelled the job. Don't call this place in Lynnwood. read more

What an unprofessional service and unhelpful experience. Firstly, the the man in charge of my job parked in front of the parking garage, blocking everyone's ability to get in and out of our parking garage - I got a very angry phone call from the property manager. Secondly, he was sweating all over the place - I had to wipe up all the dripping sweat from the floors and the walls and the towel is currently in the washer - yuck! Lastly, he barely made an effort to actually clean the area rug and the chair like he was hired to do. He ran over each item a couple of times and didn't try to remove some of the heavier soiled areas and stained areas - the entire reason that I got this service in the first place. I'm now going to have to order service from somewhere else so I can get the experience that I expected. Do NOT use this service. read more

I had a bad experience with Stanley Steemer. They claimed they could get build up and dirt off of my hardwood and Marmoleum floors. They made it worse and scratched the kitchen floor with their machine. And just pushed the dirt around on the bathroom floor, making it much worse than it was before! Then they came back for a redo. I had specifically said NOT to send the same guy, and of course they did. I sent him away. Then the 'manager' back to see the floors. And they tried a third time to redo the floors, and didn't. The guy said he had to have the manager come see the floor. And that he couldn't do anything. They also kept calling the wrong number!! I gave them the correct number numerous times, to no avail. They finally sent me a refund. I am sure they wanted to be done with me! So no recommendation from me!!! read more

Great Job Carpet Cleaning! I am a landlord and my tenant chose this company because of their low pricing. The tenant moved in with brand new carpet and after 2 years, the carpets were trashed. After 7 years they finally moved and I had very little hope that the carpet could be saved. Ezekiel did a great job and, although I did not add any additional upgrades, he did a very thorough job. The carpets came out much better than any of us expected and we were all amazed! Ezekiel was professional and explained options without being pushy. The cordially introduced themselves, quickly set up, and within 2 hours were finished cleaning our sectional. I will never use this company again. They cleaned my carpet twice within 2 weeks. I am still not satisfied with the way my carpet looks and feels. My carpet is only one years old. When I walk on it with bare feet it's rough and has a dry feeling to it. They did come out the second time for free but they don't take their time to really deep clean. I have used my own Bissell carpet shampooer through out the years in other places I have lived and I am very satisfied with the result so. No more Stanley Steamer for me! read more

Roger Grant, allegedly from Stanley Steemer of Seattle, called me about the poor patching and cleaning of our Berber carpet in Lakewood, WA by the Tacoma Stanley Steemer. He said the technician admitted the patching was poorly done, using bits of our carpeting instead of padding so that it is not level and is hard, rather than the softness of the rest of the padded carpeting. There were 4 and 6" threads poking out of the patch. They said they could fix the carpeting patches and cleaning. He wanted to get a sample of the padding in this home we rent out. I said he could look at the carpet, but to get a sample, he'd have to open up the carpet patches to get to it. I said I'd be glad to pay for the work after they did it properly. He threatened that I had to pay for the work.... no matter how unprofessional and unsatisfactory the work is.... or else he would send it to collections. Never hire any Stanley Steemer franchise unless you want to be threatened and shaken down for money for shoddy work. My attorney says until they do the job adequately, don't pay them. read more

I had Stanley Steemer come to my condominium unit to clean the carpets. After cleaning the carpets, while leaving the property the Stanley Steemer employee dragged the equipment up the exterior stairs damaging them. We showed a Stanley Steemer representative security video showing their person damaging the stairs. They refused to take any responsibility for causing the damage. My HOA made me pay $1,000 to fix the damage! I will never use Stanley Steemer again. read more

I used to be a fan. But not after today. Took a vacation day to stay home for the convenient 4 hour window. They missed their window of time. After talking to the guy (let's call him Peggy) on the phone, he finally offered me 10% off. Woopee! Decided that 10% off was not worth sitting at home for 4 hours and losing a vacation day. So I jumped on FB and instantly had 10 recommendations of other carpet cleaners. Tried to explain the value of social media to Peggy. But....it was Peggy, so it went on deaf ears. The only thing that made me feel better was waiting till the crew arrived and had all their stuff at the door and then let them know I was no longer available and would have to cancel. They said...um...you can't cancel this late. Me: Oh really....watch me. I cancel. Bye bye now. So my teenage son walked them to their truck and supervised to make sure nothing was damaged on their exit. My advice? RUN away....don't call Stanley Steamer. Jump on FB and get recommendations from your friends. Now my 785 friends all know that Stanley Steamer is not in my list of recommended companies. Hmmmm. the power of social media. My dad did something dumb: he rented to 20 somethings that did not care about maintaining wherever they lived. Obviously, he is a bit of a pushover, he's incredibly generous, but made some less than ideal choices... Anyway, the house is quite large (approx 3000 sqft) and the majority of it is carpeted. In addition to the 5 kids that lived in the house, there were also 4 medium to large sized dogs that had horrible bathroom habits. There were also parties and drinks spilled EVERYWHERE. Needless to say, the carpets were in deplorable condition. I called Stanley Steemer and set up an appointment: there were many that were available the next day and then also for the following week. To give my husband and I time to clean up a little (since they left so much trash and stuff in the house) we made the appointment for a Monday morning. I had them clean all of the floors in the house: the linoleum in the kitchen and the bathrooms, the carpets, and the hardwood floor in the foyer. I also went ahead and scheduled for them to deodorize all of the carpets as well--that many animals with bathroom problems, they were smelly! The window was for an arrival time of 9-12... I didn't realize it was an arrival time window and not the actual time they would be there. That part was a little annoying. But around 11, two guys showed up to clean. My husband and I had basically emptied the house, so there wasn't any furniture to maneuver around or anything, which I'm sure those guys appreciated. They started upstairs and worked their way down. I kept out of their way for the most part and anticipated the carpets looking better when they were done, but had no idea what it would actually end up looking like. They were finished around 1:45, not bad for how large the house is! Once they were finished, I went upstairs and looked around at some of the worst spots and HOLY COW! They looked sooooo much better! It smelled a lot better as well, but with that many dogs and the very low level of care that the previous tenants took in the home, I won't be surprised if the smell starts to come back soon. It's likely all the way through the pad, and the carpets will ultimately need to be replaced. Some of the worst stains didn't come out at all--it's hard to remove set in red soda and spots that looked bleached, and I didn't expect those to go away. But some of the worst pet stains are now gone which is amazing! I would absolutely use these guys again! read more

They spent less than 5 minutes on each room and afterwards my carpet was still dirty. I have a beige rug and It was just my husband and I in the home. We never wore our shoes in the home BUT! I had never moved the furniture when I cleaned my rugs. So when the furniture was moved you could see how dark it was from dust and dirt that had settle under there. The men who did my rug Ezekiel (He spelt it differently) and Jorge (Horhay). Any way I had 1,880 square foot of carpet. No stains just needed to be cleaned because of people coming in removing their shoes at the doorways. Also dust on a beige rug looks very dirty after a few years. It was 8 rooms, walk-in closet, hallway and stairs. They called me in less then 50 minutes to say they were done. I said you can't be done! He said they were done. I called the main office and said there is NO WAY they could do all of my rugs in 50 minutes and when I got to the house Ezekiel said Jorge does the rooms in less than 5 minutes per room (only Jorge does the cleaning). I asked how many houses do you do in a day he said 6. I looked at my rug and all they had done was get my carpets wet. Where the dust under the furniture had been looked like mud because if you put water on it dust it looks dark and muddy. I put a towel on the spot and it came up dirty. I took pictures of me rubbing the towel on the rug and turning it over. I told them I could not run with my vacuum cleaner and get this whole room done in 5 minutes. I looked online and it says it takes 20 minutes on average per room. DON"T use these guys...I had to call the manager MOE who told me he did rooms in 5-7 minutes and I told him then you didn't clean the rugs just like my home. They sent over 2 other guys the next day and they cleaned the carpet. The stairs still need to have the under part of the steps done (online it shows them cleaning this part and I asked the second guys to do it but...) I am letting this go. I have never been so unhappy with a carpet cleaning service. We are selling our home so we wanted the carpet to done right. We have rentals and have used other carpets services but never had a rug that ended up not being cleaned. The first crew only got it wet! I don't have a way to put the pictures on this review so I will try Google to see if I can let everyone see how my carpet looked. Stanley Steemer is about how many homes they can do per day...And I spent almost $400.00 on the carpet! Shame on you...You need to live up the this great reputation the commercials on T.V. give you. We have always used Stanley Steemer in the past, but this time they really let me down. We paid an extra $100 for pet stain and odor removal, and the stains are still visible. I have had Stanley Steemer come out to do my carpets for years now. I buy a new contract every year. They are generally flexible, thorough, and respectful. The Carpet in our home is 1 year old and I had it cleaned for the first time by this company. The carpet was extremely wet when they left and it took 4 days to dry. After it had finally dried, my beautiful brand new carpet looks all matted down like it is 10 years old. I have called Stanley Steemer and had to jump through hoops to even speak to a managing person. He sounded like he was 15 years old, not interested at all in my concerns. He finally agreed to come by in person to "have a look". I had the weird feeling that he wouldn't show, and I was right. He sent a carpet cleaner who (according to his work order and him) was suppose to get us an estimate. I explained the situation, he then tried to rake our carpet, thinking that would fix the problem although I had mentioned to him that I am raking and vacuuming on a regular basis but it's not helping the carpet to stand back up and be fluffy as it was. I also showed him one room that hasn't been cleaned by them and there was a crystal clear difference. He agreed, took pictures and said that someone would contact us with a game plan. I am still waiting on that! No one has contacted me. I am extremely upset about this. My brand new carpet looks old and worn now. I will NEVER use this company again as they clearly don't feel accountable for their mess up's and clearly don't care about their customers satisfaction. So sad! read more

I was very pleased with the upholstery cleaning that we recently had done. Jose and his partner, Michael, were on time, friendly and very professional. They immediately set to work, making sure that our everything in the entry & family room was protected from their equipment and any water that might leak out during the process and used 'footies' to ensure that their shoes didn't leave any dirt or scuff marks on the hardwood or carpet. The furniture, which had never been cleaned in 6 years, was done very well. Only reason I don't give it a '5' rating is because I think the service, although it is good, is a bit pricey, in particular, how much the additional cost is for the protectant or deodorizer. While I know that's not the technicians' issue, I feel that my review is not only for the technicians, but the company itself. read more

i posted a review on october 3rd that was not favorable at all. i had ss come to my house to clean carpets in car after someone had gotten sick. the carpets may have been clean, but the odor was as bad as initially (i paid to have it deorerized) and the carpet on the passenger side had not dried out, two days later i called ss to complain about the smell and the wet carpet. they sent someone out within 2 hours.....the gentleman used a high powered vacuum to soak up the water and the smell. i am now very satisfied with stanley steemer from auburn office. read more

I went with this company because Consumer Reports gave them the best rating for carpet cleaning companies (by 'them' I mean they rated Stanley Steemer in general, not this particular company). CR was right. They were on time, quick, courteous, professional and, best of all, they cleaned my carpets so well that they got out stains a previous cleaner could not. The head cleaner, Issaga, claimed their system is a proprietary one that others don't have. Perhaps that was the reason, I really don't know. But it sure cleaned the hell out of my dirty carpets. They did try to sell me some of their cleaning products, but it was not at all a hard sell and I felt comfortable declining. They aren't particularly inexpensive: $197 for my 580 s.f. Fremont condo's carpet. But, because they cleaned so well, I felt it was totally worth it. Also, both the head dude, Issaga, and his assistant Brian were really nice. Issaga would ask me after cleaning an area if it looked good to me and if I wanted him to go over any spots I felt didn't look good enough. I appreciated that. read more

True to form, I called Stanley Steemer again to come clean up a few spots and do my stairwells....I have two teenagers and they have a lot of friends...add in two dogs and well, my carpets need constant maintenance. Once again, Zack Parker with Stanley Steemer came out to clean my carpets. He was on time, professional, quick yet thorough. He appreciated the repeat business and it came through on the quality of his work. The consistency in his professionalism and work will always bring me to Stanley Steemer to get my carpets cleaned. Its refreshing to see a company hiring quality workers who provide quality service. They are clearly investing in their workers as Zack exemplified this not once, but twice. The worst customer service ever. I cannot express enough how frustrating dealing with this company is. I wanted the tile and grout cleaned in two bathrooms located in a condo. Because it is a condo I needed a portable unit not a truck mounted one. First appt. they sent a truck mounted unit. I rescheduled and the day before the appt. I called and confirmed a portable unit would be sent. When the guys arrived they had a truck mounted unit. They said this happens all the time. When you call the 800 phone number you talk to the corporate office not the local office. The two offices do not have efficient communications. Horrible experience. Booked on-line, was told I'd get a call from the service person to discuss my job. Did not receive that call, only an automated reminder. I called the 800 number, was told I would get a quote prior to them performing the service. I was nervous about the price changing - this is a rental house and I can't spend a lot of money. My husband had called and spoken with the 800# and described our exact set-up. Given window of 11-3. Got call at about 9:30 saying they'd be there in 20 min. Told them we could do that. We called back at 10:50, were told they had taken another job and would be heading my way in 15 min. At 12:55 I got a VM saying they were on their way. They arrived at 2:10. Immediately we were told it would be more. The guy mis-read what I'd written about our tile. Tried to pitch ADDITIONAL services right away. Had to call to confirm the deal my husband had been told on the phone. Finally did the calculation and came up with what we'd been quoted total - but without carpet or sealing. Offered to "throw in" about a 1 ft sq accent area of tile for free. Gee, thanks. Told him we didn't want his services. He left without a word. His assistant was at least nice enough to apologize. A neighbor had come over to ask for him to look at his house. When they left our house, they weren't even polite enough to move their van out of our drivewey. Note: the neighbor didn't use them either. NEVER AGAIN WILL I ATTEMPT TO USE STANLEY STEEMER. read more

Had our carpets cleaned on 11-15-16. One guy showed up (usually it's 2 guys). It normally takes 2 guys about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to clean the carpets. This guy was done in a little over an hour. Carpets were SUPER wet! We did the usual fans on them after he left but in the morning they were still soaking wet. By Thursday 11-17-16, the whole house stunk! We tried putting some febreeze on them, burning scented candles and air freshener. By Friday am it stunk so bad it made us nauseous. I called them and explained we have been using them for 20yrs with no problem but this time I am very upset. The soonest they will come back out and try again is Monday, 4 DAYS AFTER I COMPLAINED! I am so angry! We have 20 people coming for Thanksgiving and our house STINKS!!!!! My husband also said he did not hook up to either of our hose nozzles outside. We know this because the hoses were both still pressurized. What water was he using? He also put on deodorizer on them but that can't even begin to cover up the stench. NEVER EVER AGAIN! I put a post about it on their facebook page, NO RESPONSE!!!! GRRRR.....Calling an attorney on Monday in case we have to replace the carpets. read more

Never again. Talk about a company with so many problems. First they didn't call when I asked them to give me a target time that they would show up. They gave me a target of 2pm-6pm. So after taking off work to be there @ 2 I waited 30 minutes before I called them only to be told that they wouldn't be there for another 2 hours. I said ok but have them call me when they get close so I could return to the house. I got a call at 3:22 PM that they would be there in 35 minutes. So I came back to the house at 3:50 PM. When 4:20 PM rolled around I called again...just to be told that they were "around the corner and that they would be there momentarily." At 5PM I called and ask them how they defined momentarily because I didn't define it as more than 40 minutes. They apologized for the delay and offered me a 10% discount (and that the driver was informed of the discount) and a new time of 5:20 for the arrival of the crew. They arrived at 5:37 (3 minutes before I was going to fire them). The crew was obviously in a hurry and was decidedly unapologetic for making me wait with false promises for over 3 hours. After about 5 minutes the up sell started "We can do your entry way or we can do your marble counter tops...you know it's important to have the house look good when you are selling it..." I told them no and to get on with the job. At the end when I went to pay the driver said he didn't know anything about a 10% discount but that calling the office would be too much trouble and he would give it to me anyway at his discretion. I understand traffic was bad that day but to string me along with false promises and making me listen to their phone commercials while on hold which promised "We value your time..." tells me this is a poorly run company whose services I will not use again nor recommend to my friends. read more

My cat had vomited all over my bedroom carpet in about 8 different spots and I was not able to get the stains & smell out with Resolve. Even though I had just had the carpets cleaned about 3 months ago, I could not stand the smell &, on a whim, called Stanley Steemer about 10am on Wednesday. After explaining the situation & telling them I did not need all the carpet cleaned, just some spots in my bedroom, they told me about their $99 minimum & then offered up to use the deodorizer as well. They were able to come out THAT VERY SAME DAY. When I showed the technicians what I was talking about, they offered to clean the whole carpet for the same price. He also encouraged me to buy their spot remover & deodorizer which I gladly did because it was just about $26 for both & will be a lot cheaper than having the professionals have to come out next time. They were on time, friendly, professional and did a great job. I have never used Stanley Steemer before & they are now my carpet cleaner service of choice. read more

Had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience with this company. I live in a 700 sq. ft. apt and chose to do their promo deal going on (2 rooms & hall cleaned for $99). When they guy showed up he told me my family room will be split up as two rooms and I don't qualify for that deal. I turned him away and told him there is no way I will be spending $140 for less than 500 sq. ft. of carpet, TOTAL, to be cleaned. I called the 1-800 number and the woman on the phone said basically if you are utilizing your space to the maximum, as I am, by having a kitchen table in your living space you will be charged for two separate rooms. EVEN THOUGH the fine print on that deal stated "One area equals any room up to 300 square feet; combined living areas MAY be considered as 2 rooms." She told me they charge the same for me, using less than 300 square feet as a family room and a dining room as they would for two rooms in a house, totaling 600 feet together. Also thought I should add in that I asked for only the traffic areas to be cleaned and didn't need my furniture to be moved, giving them even less carpet space to clean. Absolutely ridiculous, never giving this company a dollar and making sure none of my relatives or friends do as well. read more
