Pretty uninspired. I got a Mac and cheese delivered because I can't drive recovering from a surgery. I've been to Stanley's once if not twice before.. I wasn't impressed with the food before, nor the service in-restaurant. It was bland. Yesterday's Mac and Cheese: I was hungry, otherwise the cheese thin, which had no relation to the delivery. Plus the macaroni was clearly store bought dried to boil. I didn't expect fresh made but to use kids macaroni, no. If you like unfulfilling food on a nice suburban block, busy but not Ventura Blvd, just be prepared to not remember the meal. Delivery? Whatever. This ain't NYC where your delivered food is brought by employees of the restaurant not a profiteering company taking it out of both sides and it's no longer almost right out of the kitchen. I want to start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE the food at Stanley's. My go to's that NEVER fail are the grilled artichoke, the chicken and the chopped salad with the Caesar dressing!! The service is on point most, if not all the time. Stanley's has a cooL ambiance (a few playing multiple sports games) and an outside dining area on both sides of the restaurant. There's a casual feel to it!! I've wanted to write a review on Stanley's for years now, but never got around to doing so. In the past, this would have been a glowing review with 4.5/5 . However, my friends and I just had an EXPERIENCE that left such a NEGATIVE IMPACT, that we've all decided to find another restaurant to enjoy from here on out...saying goodbye to Stanley's and its piping hot sourdough bread (I can't believe that they have now added $4 for extra ). Long story, long...we were wrapping it up, figuring out the bill, while still talking when the manager, DANIEL, came over to the table and asked us to leave; we had just signed the bill and were heading out when he came to the table. One of my friends stated that we were just handed the bill and the MANAGER, DANIEL began to argue with us, saying, " No, no...I've been watching you and you've been here for over 2 hours." My friend repeated herself and added that we were just leaving and he continued with the I've been watching you and I saw and that they had a long wait. BTW...there weren't. There were two women waiting and a woman picking up her carry out. Now I'm the first person to apologize and make things right, HOWEVER, when you approach me and any other frequent visitor and paying customer the way in which he did.... During his banter, he also stated that there was a 90 minute sitting time??? Whatever the case may be, his approach was rude, demeaning and distasteful! And the attempt to argue and tell us no, no, no...I saw you? Who does that? Not one time did he come over and ask if all was well...not one time did he come over and ask if we needed anything! It caught us all off guard. Never have I ever been approached and spoken to like that at a restaurant! With that being said...DO BETTER STANLEY'S!!! Work on your management skills and being kind and respectful to your customers! I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for a nice dining experience!!!!! read more

The good news first: the food is good. I've eaten here many times so now the bad news. The Rudest manager ... Luis. He would not seat me as he put it I'm not complete.... And said it very rudely . The party he sat first had 3 people .... Then 4 .... Then 5. I had me and was waiting for my friend who was parking. So the larger party didn't want the last booth do he gave it to me as no one else was waiting. After eating, we were there maybe a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes he comes over and says .... We need this table as we have people waiting .... And then says it again ... I said I heard you the first time. So rude ... a man who shouldn't deal with the public ... there is a nice way to say anything but not today . Waiter was good and food was good. Although the food is delicious, highly disappointed because I order each time on the way home to be delivered at a bar nearby. I ordered corn chowder and confirmed that Stanley's had it. They told me they did. I drove down specifically for this. When I arrive they said they didn't have it. I went to the manager LUIS who only offered pathetic excuses. He has no clue what customer service is. I will NEVER return. I even gave Luis the opportunity to salvage the situation but he had no interest. I suppose they have enough business that they don't need to worry about their customers. If you want service l, steer clear!! If you still decide to go, make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes early as parking is full and the valet is as well. The chicken tostada came... it wasn't a tostada, it was a tostada SALAD. That was absolutely gross, had no dressing and the lettuce was bad. When I asked for a replacement the manager said "we can't waste food" um? It's already wasted. The server told me this was a dish that frequently got sent back AFTER getting it! They refused to replace it. Refused to take it off the bill. Not to mention, they immediately judged us based on how we are dressed and did not bring us bread. read more

Nice restaurant, bad parking, good food, average service. The vibe of the restaurant is trendy but welcoming. They have a nice menu a bit pricey, but unique choices you don't find at your everyday restaurant. I was there for dinner, so that is what my review is based on. They also offer zucchini noodles for those who want a low carb option. My mom had the Chicken Pot Pie. She didn't like it. She felt it was bland and way too soupy, it did not have a thicker gravy like consistency which she would have preferred. This is getting picky but she said the Caesar Salad had so much Parmesan cheese on it, that it overwhelmed the salad. My husband had the Short Ribs, he loved them. They were so succulent and tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. The BBQ sauce was an in house recipe and it was very good. I had the Turkey meatloaf. It was a large portion, and tasted good. I just didn't like the choice of roasted vegetables they used. My Brother had the Chinese Chicken Salad. He liked it, the dressing was good and not as sweet as most that come on that type of salad, which he enjoyed. I will definitely go back and try new items. read more

As I was driving home last night, I decided to use an alternate route because the 405 was backed up going south so I took the 101 to Van Nuys and started up to Beverly Glen when I I noticed Stanley's restaurant on the first corner above Ventura Boulevard! I have so many-fond memories of the old Stanley's restaurant which was on Ventura Boulevard manny many years ago so I decided to take my husband there for lunch today, what a treat! We started off with their fresh chips, salsa and guacamole, oh my they were terrific! We then shared a perfectly marinated piece of salmon cooked to perfection with a mango salsa, sided by crispy, french fries and cabbage salad! We can't wait to go back! The hostess greeted us and was very friendly, our server Irena was also the bartender was excellent!! We finished our lunch & and met Greg the owner ! What a great guy!!! Shocked at the low rating so I had to say something. Amy's grapefruit salad is the best salad I have ever had. Probably the best meal. My wife loves their pesto pasta chicken. Everything I have ever eaten here has been great. Parking can be tough so I leave my guests off and park on Ventura. Not had to park too far. Went to Stanleys tonight for dinner with a friend, and the experience was an interesting one with the food on a lot of levels, so this will be pretty detailed. First thing, walk in, place had a lot of people having dinner and drinks but there was no wait, which was great, and we got the big booth that I was eyeing, so thumbs up there. My friend comes, looking at the menu, and the first heartbreaker: NO CHICKEN POT PIE!!! - I was devastated/ or sad anyway, since I'm a huge CPP fan, but they told me it was only seasonal, like around Thanksgiving time. So if the kitchen could bring that back for always that would be great. She gets The Steak, The Calamari, and I get the Ahi Noodles and Chicken Soup. The soup and Calamari were the best parts. The calamari rings are huge and crispy, also dipping in the sauces is KEY, all the sauces for most enjoyment. The soup was hearty, lots of chicken, carrots, potato sticks, and full of flavor. Recommend. However, the Ahi Noodles...Sucked, plain and simple. Bland and Weak. Pretty much to the point where I was convinced to send it back, so this one AVOID which kills the star rating for the food. However, the waitress Alexis was super sweet and understood, so it was replaced by the Chicken Tacos which were awesome. Big portion too, great chicken, sauced it up, and it was a winner. Overall, it hits 3 stars because any restaurant that has a dish you legit need to send back, might have other landmines in the menu. read more

We came for lunch on a weekday. The place wasn't busy and the waitress was very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly, given bread, and had coffee brought out right away. The food came out quick, but wasn't particularly impressive. The Mac n cheese side was watery rather than cheesy. The food was just somewhat a letdown. I called in an order about 30 minutes prior to closing for pizza, mac n cheese, and ribs with sides. My order wasn't read back to me but I assumed it was fine. When I arrived to pick up my order just after 9, I found out that they didn't hear my order for the ribs. They ended up making me the order of ribs with the two sides at 9:15, after they'd already closed! Very nice of them. The food was great, especially the mac n cheese and big warm bag of bread. Let me start off by saying I love the food - my wife is handicapped and we were parking in the Handicapp designated spot and the valet man demanded we pay him $7 before we walk in the restaurant! Uh? What? Huh? Last I checked these spots are designated for people who need them and have placards - not for valet parking and even more so , trying to collect $7 is criminal . I spoke with Stanley's manager and he said "it's not my valet company " . Yes he is right , however upon further research Stanley's owns the lot and Handicapp spot is assigned to them . Also Stanley's hire's valet company to park cars, so indirectly they do have control over Valet and who parks their customers cars and what they charge and how they intimidate Handicapp people to pay $7 to what should be free! JUST DESPICABLE STANLEYS SHAME ON YOU . NEVER GETTING MY HARD EARNED MONEY AGAIN . Shame on Manager for lying about it as well . read more

I was delighted to discover that Stanley's Restaurant was back in business! So, I had to stop by during my last trip to Los Angeles. The menu is basically unchanged, which is great. They also still offer that yummy complimentary piping hot sourdough bread and butter. I ordered my usual - the house made veggie burger. It was as almost as good as I remember. However, it fell apart and contained green leafy things (not sure if it was kale or spinach) that could do without. I opted to pick it out of the patty. Anyway, the sweet potato waffle fries were delicious. The warmed chocolate chip cookie pie was as amazing as it was during years past. The service wasn't fantastic as my server went AWOL for over ten minutes; so, I waited awhile for a drink refill and extra ketchup. This is my old colleague's go to lunch spot bc she says it's always easy to get a table even when it's busy. She wasn't wrong. We had lunch on a bustling Friday - place was packed but we were seated right away. Service was attentive. They're famous for their Chinese Chicken salad - which I ordered - it was massive - good but honestly nothing mind blowing. I hate to say, I think Tender Greens makes a better one. Parking was valet only - cash or credit card ($1 more to use card). I wouldn't mind coming back here but I think Crave Cafe or Aroma Cafe in Studio City is yummier. read more

I really enjoyed eating the salmon because it wasn't so fishy and just melted in my mouth! I was trying to be healthy with my salad and salmon, however I had to order their french fries. We have been loyal customers of Stanley's Restaurant since they had there original location on Ventura Blvd. We really have always found it a great place to go with good service and good value. Until our last two visits. At both times we were a table of two adults. About a month ago we went and when we asked for more bread we were informed that there was an additional charge of $2.50 for it. It certainly made my guests more than uncomfortable, since it was my guest that requested it. Last night we went again to meet my adult kids. We all ordered club soda from the tap. On the bill I saw we were charged $20.00 for 4 club sodas from the fountain. This is a bit over the top. I guess the server should have mentioned it, but it has to be a new policy since in all my years of drinking club soda from the tap at Stanley's I have never been charged as early as just a couple of weeks past. The great thing is it makes us now look for a new go to restaurant that doesn't nickel and dime us. read more

I got the greek kabob and my friend ordered the chicken piccata pasta, hers came out a shrimp Scampi as we waited a while and my chicken kabob was undercooked. I hadn't been to the new location until three months ago - good as ever I'm happy to report, with the BEST wait staff anywhere ever. I've learned when to go in and not have to wait, which is very clever of me. I tend to always have the chicken pasta with cashews and stuff in cream sauce - it's never less than brilliant. The bread is to die for, and their Caesar salad is tops. When this craziness began, the stay at home stuff, I ordered in via Chow Hound and despite a deliver mess-up where the guy didn't show up ever, they made a new batch and offered me a free dessert, which I passed up in favor of a starter salad with the Caesar dressing. That came very quickly and it was all great. Sometimes when you deliver in it's never as good, but this was really excellent - hot and tasty. I'm just five minutes from there, so that part's easy. Highly recommended, especially delivery or takeout during this insanity. It's just wonderful to have a great meal at home that you don't have to cook or clean-up. read more

So we usually don't dine in at Stanley's because the idea for dinner usually doesn't hit us till about 730. And, sometimes getting a table around this town isn't the easiest route when everything you do is last-minute. But we are frequent take-out fiends and Stanley's is part of our circle. And of course, unless you have medical issues (I have an ancient yeast problem (eww no not that) i just love sour dough bread) the sourdough puts Cheese Cake's to shame (change my mind). Anyway, we ordered later than usual one night and when we asked for bread (duh) the hostess said there wasn't any left! Wha wha what do you mean? Crushed with an instant loss of appetite, i placed the order anyway. I knuckle-dragged myself in through the door moping all the way, and as always, cheerfully acknowledged- "I'll get your order!" In my head i'm screaming "How dare you be so cheerful knowing the sourdough is gone!!!" It's the secret crap in life that makes it fun- those that know, know...and the poor sufferers of celiac's have made the leap at times (ancient yeast versus baker's yeast blah blah blah)....it's that good. Anyway, alas, they threw some SD into the oven after all as they had two late additional orders coming in, so hurray for us! Big shout out to the manager for saving the evening and my crusty addiction (stop!) The grilled salmon was cooked to perfection but the veggies were a bit, um, mushy? I attribute that to the late pick up, but the last meal out of the kitchen should look like the first out of the evening- the streamy SD made me over look it. But once inside, I felt like I was seated in a booth at the old Ventura Blvd location, but here it's much brighter & open. Everyone in our group enjoyed & raved about their food. The service was nice & friendly. Great menu that's not too overwhelming yet it's still difficult to decide what to eat with all the great options - which gives more reason to come back - especially for the best ROASTED vegetables medley in So Cal. Have always had nothing but positive experiences in the past and it's nice to know some things don't change. I was there yesterday 2ish. They were great, been years since I've been there. Staff kind as I put in to go order but decided to have few bites since I I had a 3 hour commute. They wouldn't allow me to sit inside but said yes to the patio since it was a to go grub hub order, which I did not know which service was used since I ordered in yelp. I understood, enjoyed my salad and brought the rest of the orders to go. Almost $90.00 for 2 salads, zucchini noodles, cup lentil, chips with guac.
