Thought it'd be a good time for an update since things have changed a little bit since the last time I reviewed and Covid really flipped the world on its head. Happy to report that Star Night is still poppin hahaha. They're definitely taking the right precautions with socially-distanced tables, temperature checks at the door, rigorous cleaning, and mask requirements. They also moved a bunch of tables outside which makes everything feel more expansive. Even with more ground to cover, the workers are all still really friendly and on top of their shit. There's a QR code menu and call buttons on each table that really smooths out the process of ordering. For food, I really love the Kimchi Fried Rice here and even when I want to try other things, I end up gravitating toward that lmao. If you want a break from Soju and are down to try a cocktail, the Clay's Day and the Lychee Martini are delicious. Covid sucks but I'm glad places like Star Night are offering some respite. Had a really refreshing but safe night out here and will def be back again soon :') read more

This place is a hidden gem! Great place to chill, nice atmosphere, attentive service and great menu choices! There's pretty much something for everyone. We ordered Seafood Leak Pancake, Pan Fried Spicy Squid with noodles, Pan Fried Chicken Gizzard, and Clam Soup. I loved their Pan Fried Chicken Gizzard. Amazing soju and beer. Our server was so attentive and accommodating. We were seated quickly and the meals came out immediately. Really solid food. The ambience is subtle but effective. I came here twice before and the first time was amazing. The food and service. I came the second time and it was just mediocre. I got the teokbokki and fish cake soup, kimchi fried rice and army stew. The teokbokki could've been more flavorful. The fish cake soup was standard and so was the kimchi fried rice. On a brighter note, the sweet and sour beef and the army stew was good! if you're out in LA/Ktown with a large party I would recommend this place. I was so happy with the COVID precautions they put in place. We came by at 7:30 on a Friday night for some food and drinks. The host wrote down all of our names and took all of our temperatures. They went over COVID guidelines and all the tables were well separated. They even gave us bottled water instead of tap water to minimize exposure!! We ordered the ddukbokki, spicy chicken wings, sweet potato fries, popcorn chicken, and kimchi pork belly. It was a lot of food for 4 people but we were starving and just the perfect amount! You really can't go wrong with ddukbokki in any Korean bar. The spicy chicken wings were very spicy and it was a little disappointing how little there was. The kimchi pork belly had to be our favorite. The popcorn chicken was surprisingly really good and juicy. It wasn't just covered in fried dough. The sweet potato fries are the skinny ones with powdered sugar. We thought we weren't going to like it but it was a really good sweet snack. There is valet parking available but a lot of drunk people driving here so I wouldn't recommend parking. The smoking area is outside and because COVID requires outdoor seating, you do get a lot of smoke from the people. read more

I love this big open dining space right in the middle of Koreatown. We were hungry and wanted a chill place for bites and drinks so we stopped in here. They have downstairs restaurant patio style dining and karaoke upstairs. We ordered the combo platter along with a ramen. Also ordered a bottle of soju and the chamomile honey old fashioned. Depending on how hungry you are, the combo can feeds about 2-3 people but might be a little too much food for two. $45 makes it worth ordering this combo, especially so you can try their food for the first time. The prices here are seem reasonable for Korean bar fares in Ktown. Our drinks were delivered with complimentary popcorn to munch on while we waited for our food. The Combo: Asada, sausage, cheeseburger steak, hash brown w/fried egg, 1/2 fried chicken, spicy chicken wings, cabbage, & salad. The fried chicken was over cooked and chewy. The wings were all flats (just the way I like it) and was sweet but flavorful. The Asada, grilled sliced short rib, was tender and juicy but bland. I just dipped it in the BBQ sauce that the cheeseburger steak was smothered in. The hash browns topped with a sunny side egg was crunchy and went well with everything. Next time I would probably just order everything a la carte like the wings and the Asada. I can pass on everything else. The ramen is perfect for a quick bite, served in a very hot, thick cast bowl with an egg. I would skip the chamomile honey old fashioned as this tasted watered down and is not a typical old fashioned and not worth $13. I love the big breezy open space, very cute and trendy to hang out for drinks with friendly service. They even have heat lamps! Valet service makes itso no need to hunt down parking nearby or take the Metro purple line subway to Western & Wilshire, walk one block west after you get out of the subway. I'll definitely be back to try the many other Korean dishes on the menu and maybe some karaoke if I've had more to drink! read more

If you are a party of 2 or even 10, this is a great place to meet up with friends for good food and drinks. It is what Koreans consider a "pocha" which is a version of a Korean street vendor/bar that serves Korean comfort food. Parking: It is possible to find street parking in the area, but they do have the option of valet Vibes: They have a pretty large outside seating area. At night, it is dimly lit with some lighting and heat lamps on days when it gets cold. It is a fun environment as everyone is there to have a good time, can get pretty loud as well, so be prepared for that! Food: The portions are quite large and generous here. Everything comes out hot and fresh, wait time depends on how busy it is, but food comes out relatively quickly. I highly recommend #3 Spicy chicken hot wings, #9 Pan Friend Spicy Korean Blood Sausage, #10 Pan Fried Spicy Octopus, and #23 Tofu & Kimchi (Pork)!! More than enough food for 5-6 people. Go-to menus are chicken wings (original and marinated), muk muchim, stirfried squid with added noodles, all the buchimgaes, tofu kimchi, pan fried blood sausages and kimchi fried rice. The only thing I've had here that's not good were the chicken feet. It's chill on weekdays, and gets really busy/loud on Friday and Saturday evenings. I was recommended this place, and it was such a fun place to get some comfort foods and drinks with my friends! It's pretty crowded, so you might have to wait if you're going at night on the weekend. We ordered some soju bottles for the tables ($16/bottle), which were a bit pricey. It felt worth it for the experience of drinking there though! We also ordered the sweet potato fries, which were so unique. They were super thinly cut so that it tasted more like crunchy chip straws but I liked it because it didn't feel heavy. They were covered in powdered sugar, giving it a nice touch of sweetness. One note is that on the weekends (including Fridays), you have to order at least 1 food dish - you can't just get only drinks. read more

Most (not all) of the staff made sure you knew they were annoyed to help you and gave off the vibe that serving you was an obligation. The real reason why my review is so low is that they give different tip "calculations" on their receipts. The receipt we got after payment showed a HIGHER tip rate than the previous receipt with the same subtotal. Absolutely suspect at best. My review is solely based on my dining experience on ground level. PARKING: They have a private lot with one (1) valet guy handling the cars. On the particular evening I visited, we weren't aware that there was valet service available, and we self-parked. Seems like the owner was yelling at the valet guy for not serving us, and the valet guy still had the nerve to come over to ask us for $3 to valet service when we self-park our vehicle. Hmmm... PATIO: Really like the patio area at STAR NIGHT. Even though I visited in the middle of winter, the staff were really helpful and turned on both heaters on both side of the table. After settling down and having a couple drinks, I had to take off my jacket because it was getting too warm. Since you are literally dining under the stars, it is pretty chilled and I would recommend coming here on dates or hang out with friends. FOOD: Ordered the Soondae Tteokbokki (Korean Rice Cake with Sausages) and a few skewers for the evening. Generous serving size and everything was good. But as usual, I think I over-ordered for our party of 2. They even offered a BOGO Soju for giving them a 5 star Yelp review. Tempting offer, but I like to adhere to the Yelp rules. I love Star Night! I had a magnificent birthday dinner that my boyfriend took me on here and absolutely loved all of the food, as well as the soju!! My boyfriend found this place and thought it would be a nice spot to have a casual but really good birthday dinner, and I immensely enjoyed it. First off, they have a valet parking in front of it, but I was able to find street parking behind it instead. The restaurant has a gorgeous outdoor patio area, which I definitely recommend being seated in. We came in the evening, so it was dark, and they had beautiful string lights above the patio, and space heaters everywhere to keep you warm. It was beautiful and wonderful. Inside, they have rooms you can rent out if you want to do karaoke with friends, I'd love to come back some time to do that with a group! For food, we ordered corn cheese, as well as one of the seafood pancake and some chicken. I also got the green grape soju for a drink. I can't express enough just how much I loved all of the food. The soju was so tasty and sweet. As for the food itself, the chicken was definitely some of my favorite chicken that I have ever had. Period. I couldn't get enough of it. It came with an incredibly tangy and spicy sauce as well that I loved immensely! The seafood pancake and the corn cheese were both very delicious as well. I couldn't get enough of the food here!!! It was all sublime. Yes, yes, and yes - I love this place! The food here is delicious! Tasty fried chicken wings, tender squid, less common items like intestine. It's definitely for family style eating since the dishes are pretty big (worth the price to me). They also have a few karaoke rooms on the side that you can book. The American song selections were mostly pop and R&B, would love if some 90s/00s hip hop got into that catalog . There were only two stalls in the ladies bathroom but didn't really have to deal with any lines luckily. There's a few spots to park at in front, if you're lucky, otherwise valet takes your car to a different parking lot. Will I come back? For sure. My favorite dish here is the pan fried small intestines as there is sooo much flavor and tons of whole garlic pieces.
