Chill bar in the Oahu airport. My friend ordered a beer which came with a shot for $7 more. Really good deal for an airport. The biggest con is that their menu seemed small so I couldnt really find an item i wanted. It was mostly nachos, etc. Also they close at 6pm. I'd say more like 3-1/2 stars. Was skeptical due to Yelp pics/reviews but had a lot of time to kill and was only dining eatery near my gate. Yes, it's pricey like ALL restaurants at airports. A 20 oz. draft beer is $11.50, cocktails $18! We ordered a lemonade $4.25 and a draft beer and then shared to entrees, the crispy chicken sandwich and the pork nachos. The food looked better than expected and everything tasted good, pleasantly surprised. Server was pretty good as well and meal came out in about 10-12 mins. Overall I'd return again if hungry with time to extra time to kill. Although it did set us back $60 w/tip, ouch. read more

It was decent for an airport restaurant. They were understaffed when my group came in, but our server was able to attend to our large party. We were able to switch tables to a private section so that we could all sit together. It's an airport. I wasn't expecting much, but the appetizers were great. Oof. Two stars for nice service and a good sitting area. There are very few choices here so this might be as good as it gets in the HNL airport. Food was terrible. We came here for a quick bite before our flight. They have a pretty typical bar food menu. We got the nachos. They use an artificial cheese sauce which wasn't the best, but the portion size was decent. My boyfriend also got the boneless buffalo wings and enjoyed them. Service was pretty fast. read more

When your vacation is cut a few hours short due to an especially rigid car rental agreement (ahem Budget), what do you do??? You say eff the man and take that car on a joyride until the beautiful Hawaiian sun sets! Just kidding, you follow the contract in order to avoid a $400 up charge, and retreat to Stinger Rays in Terminal 1 to get your grub on and get a little tipsy. When you walk in to Stinger Ray's,no one is there to greet you, but after asking the bartender, I found out it is a "seat yourself" arrangement - so that is just what we did. The menus are available at the table along with a handy little call box that had options to request for a server and to tab out. I ordered the Ahi Poke Starter and a Bulleit Bourbon with Diet Coke. The waitress expertly offered a double, to which I kindly obliged. Hubby ordered a Mai Tai and two plates of Island Hot Wings - one for him and one for our teenage son. We were all happy with our meals and drinks and when we were ready to leave we were pleased with the prompt response to the call box. I come to this restaurant frequently when traveling to and from Hawaii for work. I don't understand why is has such low stars. It's a good simple restaurant/ bar. Food is good, fresh and comes out fast. Service is very good as well both in their seating area and bar area and prices are reasonable considering it is an airport. First off, how can anyone not be thankful to be in HI, even during a stinking pandemic?! So I'm grateful this establishment is open for business or my hangry headache would be . They didn't give me over bringing in my sugar/caffeine from another estblishment, for which I'm also grateful. Got seated right away even though they're busy, and their QR code menu is amazing. You can order directly to the kitchen and use your pay. Also a plus. Seating can be a little too close together, just depends on where you are in the restaurant. It's all indoors, so a bit risky if you're the cautious type. Service was quick and friendly and the french fries were so on point. The sadness happened when I tasted the BBQ pork which was so salty I couldn't finish it. This is where the fifth star fell off. If it wasn't supposed to be the whole point of my being there (quality protein ranks high on my plate), it would've been a five star visit. read more

Came here cause we were waiting for our flight and wanted to watch the NFL games. We love football that much. Friendly service. Got the Loco Moco and didn't have much expectations. It was a good sign that the patty wasn't perfectly round. That meant that there was a chance it wasn't one of them frozen ones you get in a box. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the loco moco. There were sesame seeds on the rice. I ate it all and was filled up. That's all you can ask for for airport food. I would say that the loco moco was about on par with L&L. If you are a diehard NFL fan and can't miss the games this place will be your lifesaver. The service was terrific but keep in mind that you are in an airport - set your bar accordingly. After reading the reviews, it kind of deterred me from wanting to eat here. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my dinner here. There's a sign that says "seat yourself" and the workers there also let you know that it's open seating (which is helpful). It was quite busy but we found a table to sit on. We were greeted shortly after sitting by our waitress. It took a little while to get our waters, but that's because our waitress was busy with a bunch of tables. We ended up sharing the house burger with substitution of French fries instead of chips. I'd say it was a great choice to share! The burger was a good size with a lot of fresh garnish. My favorite though was the French fries as it was double fried and super crispy. Yummmmmm. If you ever have the time at the airport to check this out (delayed or just early), I would recommend it. read more

Husband and I stumbled across this restaurant/bar because we were looking for some food and drinks before our flight. It's kind of misleading because it looks empty like it's closed, no receptionist in the front to greet you. The worker was sitting outside and he welcomed us to come in. We sat ourselves at the high top. Moments later a server came by and took our drink orders. If you order a shot with your beer, it's cheaper. We got a tall Kona Longboard Lager and a shot of Jack Daniels. It was $18. Usually the shot alone is $10. So I guess it was cool that we got a deal. Husband and I shared the drinks. And decided to look at the food menu as well. Their calamari sounded yummy. But we settled for their shoyu ahi with white onions & no macadamia nuts. It comes with white rice, greens, 3 big slices of avocado and wonton chips. $15 -- Poke was perfectly cubed. Not mushed like some places. We also got their house cheeseburger with the mayo aioli on the side. Burger was pretty small but it was filling because of the bacon!!! It was so crunchy and delicious. To add fries to our order, it was an extra $1. Their fries were yummy as well. Overall experience here was AWESOME!! Great customer service. Our server was friendly, he conversed with us & also checked up on us frequently. Price was decent.. usually airport food is extremely expensive but it was alright! Food was fantastic. We had a layover at the airport heading to Maui on Hawaiian Airlines and Stinger Rays was very convenient and they had a table. I had Loco Moco and my wife had a Chicken Caesar Salad. We were not expecting much at an airport and found the food and service quite good. Later I checked my records from the 1990s and we had also eaten at Stinger Ray's when in a similar situation, so they have been here a long time. read more

Stinger Ray's is a great place to go if you love spending a lot of money on food that tastes like soggy cardboard. I ordered fish and chips that were incredibly dry and it was served with ketchup packets and some type of flavorless garlic aioli sauce (they did not have tartar sauce). That alone was $25.00. The booth we sat in had old food on it, the menus were a piece of paper inside of a plastic binder sheet that was shriveled and well past it's prime. As a PDX home base flyer (voted best airport in the nation over and over), I had way higher hopes for the Honolulu airport...after security, my hopes of a decent lunch seemed to quickly vanish looking at a snack bar sandwich, ice cream, and thinking just drinking beers and counting my carbs might be my best option. The line was hella long because it was one of 2 open places at the Hilo airport. They suddenly announced that they were no longer seating tables without any explanation or reason. You order, and pay, on your mobile device, up front, and your plate eventually gets placed in front of you by your waitress, the only service that she performs. 3 stars for an experience that meets expectations (considering that it's in the airport). Read below for a breakdown of the review by food/drink, service and ambiance. Food/Drink: Since I was just killing time before I could board my flight, I ordered a 14oz. Kona longboard ($9) and french fries that turned out to be about the size of a medium order at McD ($5). In my opinion, that's pretty pricey anywhere outside of the airport but in the airport, that seems about right. Service: It's what you would expect at an airport. People aren't necessarily rude (that I experienced), but they're not really friendly either. It's open seating and there's a call button for service so when you sit down, don't expect that someone will come to greet you at your table until you push that button. But that being said, I had to push the call button 3 times before I was able to get my check. That part wasn't so great. My guess is that there were probably several of us trying to catch the same flight and we all were pushing the "check" button around the same time. Ambiance: Though it seems like the intended ambiance is "cool, chill relax spot," it feels very transactional and all business. Servers briskly move through the crowd of travelers without smiles on their faces, just trying to keep up with the current rush, clearly looking forward to the next lull. Customers are sitting around looking anxious, probably thinking about the flight they've gotta catch. Again, I think that's to be expected for a restaurant in an airport. Final words: Keeping in mind that it's the only place to grab a beer in the inter island terminal (I think), I didn't hate it and would go back again. After all, what other options do I have? This is the second most regrettable meal of my trip. The quality of the food is a huge contrast from all the fresh items I had on the island. We thought the poke would be good - every poke bowl we've ever had has been good, but theirs isn't even fresh. The fish tastes fishy, to the point that I was nervous about eating it. The Grilled Fish Tacos were made with "blackened mahi", but it didn't look blackened at all. The chunks of fish were very hard and dry, and the small spoonful of pineapple salsa didn't improve the lack of flavor. It was like a different country. I don't know how the food went from spectacular to shoot-me-now between the airport and everywhere else on the island, but next time I'm at the airport, I'll just starve. read more

Walked in and a female waitress said hello and directed us to the outside seating over looking the A gates. When we came out side we sat down and others were seated in that area. A older philipino male waiter who was a couple of tables away, yell and said it's closed go.inside. we told him the female waitress said we could come.out here. He yelled and said who, who.told you. I pointed to the waitress and we could hear him from inside yelling saying it's closed at 1:15, it was 1:25. Then the manager came and she said can you come in I told him it was ok that you can sit there. I told her he didn't have to yell and we also heard him yelling at them. This is a regular stop for us every year. This year, we were there on 3 different occasions. The MaiTai's were somewhat inconsistent this time around which is an oddity for us. The Kalua Pork Nachos were plentiful, if not the most tasty things ever. They weren't terrible. They weren't terrific. HOWEVER. Our server, Moana was true Aloha. The reason I am giving five stars, is for our unforgettable waitress, Mrs. Annie!! My husband and I got married this past weekend, and choose Hawaii for our honeymoon and have encountered so many beautiful souls on our journey--Mrs. Annie being one of them! She reminded us as we were getting ready to fly back to San Francisco that we are all Ohana, and treated us like so as she greeted us, took our order, and just engaged in conversation with us. Mrs. Annie didn't know it was our honeymoon, but treated us as if we were special any way. The food was expensive... it's an airport, and it was busy... again, it's an airport... and yes, it did take a tiny bit longer to receive items, but the team working there were hustling, cleaning, and we're taking the time to engage with customers! There I something special about Hawaii, and people like Mrs. Annie are the reason why we will come back. My husband ordered the chicken quesadilla with a pineapple salsa... SO GOOD! And I ordered the Blackened Mahi-mahi burger, really good... just a bit small on the portion of fish. My husband and I had a great experience here and I hope that this restaurant takes care of Mrs. Annie because it's people like her that makes others keep on coming back... **cough cough** raise for Mrs. Annie! Wow, did we step into a 4-star restaurant? With those prices, we could have... Atmosphere: The theme is tropical beach, I think. Big bar with a cool overhanging metal roof. Didn't have any food, just some drinks before our flight back home to Maui. Our 3 beers (22 oz. Stella, Heineken bottle and 12 oz Bud Light draft) came out to $23!? Geezuz. Checked out the food prices. Burgers around $17, combo platter around $42, salads around $15. Probably not a shock to the tourists who pay those prices but in their resort hotels! Service: Our female server was very friendly. Fast service and down to earth. Overall: Great place to grab maybe ONE beer before your flight, or not drink at all and have some Burger King, Starbucks or Lahaina Chicken Company right next door. ;) read more

Service is fast and fine but the food is sub par. Tolerable is the best I can say about their cuisine. I recommend staying away from their hamburger meats because they're very bland. Pork ribs were ok. Truffle fries were fine as far as appetizers go. The sides that came with our meals were rice and canned corn - on paper that seems perfectly fine but I can't convey how stale everything tasted. On the bright side the ambience is nice with a beach house theme and ok music but I don't go to airport restaurants for the aesthetics. Just wow! Stinger Ray's nachos were an offense to all that is nacho. Tortilla chips -stale. "Cheese"... all I can say is that it was orange... tasteless mush . After an 11 hour flight we tried to eat what was in front of us. So shocked that anyone would sell a plate like that much less over price it at almost $20 after adding bland add on. Eventually we complained and was given a pointless discount for a plate that should not ever have been sold. Im OK that I have to give one star but the waitress was at least nice though not "permitted" to be more reasonable with offering a full refund or another dish. read more
