I'll get this out of the way first: I hate this building, all the other ugly cookie-cutter copies of it, and generally the way they've ruined Showplace Square and northern Potrero Hill in the past ten years. I do hate this building, but I'm not factoring the building into my review of Street Taco in any way. The third Street Taco I've tried is . . . the best? Possibly. I've been twice, once around four p.m. and then near closing, and while they were friendly, the workers were trying to get me out of here that second time. Fair enough. Of the three Street Taco locations I've tried (Upper Haight, Inner Sunset, and here), this one has the best ambiance. It feels fun and festive inside, and there's plenty of seating. I rather want to return when it's a little bit fuller. They have very lovely picnic-table outdoor seating, and if you really want to enjoy yourself, get it to go and walk it across the street to Daggett Plaza, the nifty little park/green space those awful developers sandwiched between two horribly ugly buildings (including Street Taco's). The food is the food is the food. The menu is identical to the other two locations (and probably to the third one as well), and the food preparation and taste are the same as well. That means it's serviceable. You could do better just a quick 22 ride down 16th Street to Pancho Villa, but if you're stuck here for whatever reason, it's not bad. In fact, I want to return and take my own advice and eat outside. read more

Street Taco is a 10 minutes walk from Chase Center if you cut through the open plaza. I would avoid this area if there is a home game. They make an OK taco salad $14.45 (called street bowl.) Right when you walk in, there's a trompo (vertical rotisserie.) That made me pick al pastor as the meat option. When the salad arrived, I was disappointed it didn't come with pico de gallo. I asked the cashier for some pico and it was free. The al pastor tasted OK. It was missing that smoky flavor and missing the caramelized edges if cooked on a trompo. Toward the bottom of the salad, it got soggy and that diluted the taste. Service was fine for an order at the cashier type of restaurant. I was the only customer at 7pm. Tables were extra clean. Conveniently located on the way to or from the Chase Center. My first time I picked up shrimp tacos to scarf down on the way to a game. This time I sat down and enjoyed a full meal with a friend. Two shrimp tacos and two fish (tilapia) tacos. Wow. I'm really glad I took the time to savor the food. Shrimp and fish grilled to perfection with delicious spices. The tacos are filled with generous helpings of ingredients and the prices are very reasonable, especially for the location. Limes, fish sauce, and fresh guacamole made for great accessories. I also couldn't even stop eating the corn tortilla chips. Addictive. Had to get two servings with green sauce as well. I can't wait to visit again! read more

Gee, I was so used to the tight quarters in their other locations in SoMa and on Haight that I was surprised how cavernous this space was on 16th Street. I actually don't walk in this area very often, but I was on my way to Chase Center for a Warriors game and stopped by figuring it would be cheaper than eating at the venue. I was right about the price but less than impressed with the food. 'Middling' is the only term that came to mind when it comes to Street Taco. I ordered the $10 Street Caesar which was simply a plate of chopped romaine sprinkled with cotija cheese crumbles and croutons with a scoop of pico de gallo. It was drenched in their own Caesar dressing but was unlike any Caesar I've ever had (Photo 7). It just didn't linger in my palate for very long. Only marginally better were the $10.70 pair of Tacos, one with Carne Asada and the other with Carnitas. Let's face it. They're really just bar bites with the slightly dry meat overwhelmed by pico de gallo on a very small corn tortilla. They hide the evidence with a pile of tortilla chips and a couple of salsas (Photo 8). Just wasn't that satisfying for something a bit more than twenty bucks. Good: - Portion sizes are huge and the size is good value - The taco salad was super filling - I liked the taco shell the most, it was very crispy. I got pork for the inside and it was very savory! - The staff are very nice, and the food comes out super quickly - The place is beautiful! Weighing in here (quite literally after eating a Street Burrito). Stopped in today with a few coworkers and I was really surprised. I wasn't expecting much given the location and 3.5 star rating but I really loved it. The staff is really friendly and eager to discuss the options on the menu. I opted for a Street Burrito which is much more like the famous burrito at La Taqueria up the street with no beans or rice. I ordered it with Al Pastor and BAM. It was spot on. Juicy with nice crunch from the pastors and drizzled with their hottest salsa it was delish. I liked the simplicity of the menu and the tastiness of the food. The order of tacos are overflowing with meat. While I was on keto the sides of meat were an easy meal. Quesadilla (with all the extras on the side) are an easy kids option that lasts a few meals. We were hungry and wanted food fast as our blood sugar dropped post work out! My wife have driven by Street Taco several hundred times since we live in Potrero Hill neighborhood. We stepped into the very open restaurant and placed our order. My wife ordered the beef Taco and I ordered the Street Salad with apples, walnuts and added shrimp. Our orders were ready within 5 minutes and a first day of March a Friday in 2024. The restaurant space is very large with indoor and outside seating. My salad looked very colorful and tasted very good! Amble portion and very fresh ingredients. My wife Taco was appealing and she was very happy with her selection. I LOVE this place. First let's start with the people. Everyone here is incredibly nice, with the best customer service. They are always very smiley, and always make me want to come back. Next the food. It's very fresh. I personally tend to judge Mexican places by the quality of their Pico, and it is amazing here. There other sauces are quite good as well. The chips are not overly greasy, and are nice and crispy. The price is also very reasonable! Finally, the last thing I really like about this place is how clean they keep it. It's spotless. The design of the store is also cool. It looks like a chain, but by the way the people running it act, it feels more like a mom and pop store. Great vibes! Would definitely recommend! read more

Stopped by Street Taco on the way to Chase Center for game 6 of the watch party! It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be, seeing as how it was close to game time, but I realized it was probably going to be a good idea to grab a bite to eat before I drink at Chase Center haha. There were only a few people in line in front of me, yet it took almost 10min to go through them for some reason. I ordered and paid in 30 seconds. Food also took a bit longer than expected to come out, so I ended up being a bit late to the game. I got the steak burrito. It came with chips and salsa. Overall, not too bad! Wish they had given a few more chips :P I did notice a lot of people going back and forth to the kitchen mentioning their order was messed up, so that definitely didn't help the wait time. I am so excited to share with you how much I love this place! Street Taco is a family owned restaurant that makes you feel like you are a part of their family. We came in on a Sunday evening with 23 people and they were able to host this large party with plenty of room for other customers. The owners are super friendly and will go above and beyond to make sure that your food and experience is nothing short of spectacular. Food: I got the pozole and WOW, it tastes like it was made by abuela herself ! We pretty much got one of everything on the menu and there were lots of to-go packs. The serving size of the burritos is pretty big and the fillings of the taco's are really fat! Their in house sangria and margaritas were superb and super tasty with the tahjin rimmed glasses... yum! If you are in the neighborhood or would like a space for good food, drinks and team bonding (the teammates went to the grass area outside to hang out and make tick toc's) you have to come here. So I apologize that the photo that I'm going to post it doesn't show the food because it was so good. I snarfed it down quickly. The service was amazing. They didn't seem to mind that I came in in a wheelchair. They were very accommodating the one thing that I had to do as I had to use my Google translate which not a problem that's not an issue, but once we got it figured out that I could indeed pick up for taco with one hand I ordered the two taco plate. Ordered the Carnitas and boy was it tasty I highly recommend street taco to anybody looking for something quick and tasty. Another nice touch was all the photos of Mexico on the wall kinda gave you the feeling of being just a little bit in Mexico. Which was really nice. I've never been there. The Carnitas tacos are 10/5 delicious. The watermelon agua frescas is 8/5 so yummy with chunks on watermelon to snack on after you drink it. The fish taco is -10/5 sadly and that's why they get an overall 4/5. The math adds up when you consider the great customer service (except for the person who takes your order...for some reason whomever they have in that position is consistently terrible at their job. Sorry but it's the truth.) The fish taco is really bad. Just do not order it. Carnitas is so good it had me coming back three days in a row. Slightly more expensive than a taco should be but that's how good the Carnitas is...makes you not care. Pineapple Aguas Frescas is also terrible. So while I'm still loyal to my roots, sometimes I have to branch off and try new things, especially when it's so close to my work. Anyway, I digress. Street Taco is our go to whenever we're craving Mexican food. My personal fave are the Street Bowls. I love the shell. My coworkers love it too. We place large orders and rarely do they ever make a mistake. There's different protein options. They are also on time and labeled all our food so we didn't have to rummage around figuring out who got what. I placed my order online the day prior and called just to make sure they could label each item for me. Picked up our orders to see each of our names on colored labels. Had me wait outside trying to get their attention for 20 minutes. Never got my order, and told me to leave in such a rude manner. Very disappointing. Born and raised Latino who's from Costa Rica and lives in SoCal here to tell you this place is amazing. Food- 10/10 best quesadilla with carnitas spicy I've ever had. Service- was top tier with food being ready in minutes. Clean bathrooms as well. Ambiance- 9/10 with the music being perfect. Great calm atmosphere that felt great to enjoy food. I was less than impressed. Street Taco is on the corner of a new apartment complex. The restaurant is full of windows and offers indoor/outdoor seating. There is also a nice public park where you can eat or relax. Street Taco is a upscale taqueria. The menu is basic and prices are higher than a normal taqueria. The service was mixed ( one was ok, the other was great). Don't get conned into ordering chips and salsa ($6.50?!??) as your dish probably comes with it. My biggest complaint is the menu. No where on the menu does it specify next to the non meat dishes the cost to add meat. As the menu is laid out it appears all dishes have meat. Normally it will say +$ to add meat. The menu mentions homemade corn tortillas, but no mention of homemade flour tortillas. There are * next to the seafood dishes, with no mention of what a * means (I'll assume is the standard raw fish disclaimer). The same * is used to promote the tortillas. There is a separate sign noting beef is more, but somehow the restaurant created a menu that can't be edited. If your going to be an upscale taqueria can you at least fry the tortilla chips every hour? Eating day old chips when the restaurant isn't busy is not ok. Is it possible to make horchata to order (customize the sugar), instead of serving it like all the other taquerias (store bought from a jug)? read more
