Is Egg shells a thing to have in sandwiches? Because just about every time I give this place a try I get egg shells in my eggs and it's a significant amount. Next time I order should I say hold the eggs shells? I mean seriously. I haven't gone here for eggs in over a year bc of this and I try to not leave negative reviews but everything seems good about this place except for the eggs. I started going to the Stuff A Bagel in the Massapequa/Amityville shopping center because they are way better. Woah. After 2-months of living in Farmingdale, we finally got around to trying Stuff A Bagel. What a Sunday morning hot spot! I chose to "build my own omelette sandwich" (an awesome deal really) and it was INSANE. I had a big, buttery, everything bagel with a spinach/broccoli/onion/jack/cheddar omelette. So yummy and greasy. It looks like any other bagel shop really, but the vibe is different. It's cozy and casual and bustling. Less like a deli and more like a happy diner. I just stopped here and had a chicken salad on a bagel. It was so fresh and delicious. The macaroni side salad was also very good! I will stop in again when I'm in the area. The first and only time I decided to redeem my free lunch, the staff had no idea what to do... I gather not many people bother claiming this free lunch, which includes : any sandwich, a drink, and a bag of chips... or so they told me when i claimed it... after the manager rang me up and charged me nothing, I was in a good mood regardless of waiting 20 minutes for my order. I then sat down, took a bite out of my sandwich, and was actually DISAPPOINTED in my FREE LUNCH... that's how bad this place is. Expect a dry, small, not what you ordered, piece of plastic. I had a rye bagel, a pumpernickel, an egg onion, an everything and a bialy. Yum! Also scored some scallion cream cheese. Drooled over (but resisted) the pastries. Treated my sweetie to his first New York bagel and first bagel with lox. He's a convert now. : ) Great service, great bagels. What makes the NY bagel so much better than all others??? This place is over-rated, and inconsistent. I've had a bunch of things here including, pancakes, eggs, egg sammies, potato patties, cheese blitzes, muffins and bagels. They have gotten the order wrong multiple times, served over cooked bacon, eggs and rolls. The iced coffee I have to say is very delicious though. The daily specials seem to be your best bet here. The cheese blitzes were yummy and decadent (as you would expect). The potato patty is only served on the weekends and is stale and sitting behind the glass until you order.. Bleh. They always have samples of muffins and whatnot to try which I always look forward to. :) They rave about there pancakes but mine were over cooked and lacked dreamy fluffiness. The service is friendly and fast and it's a nice sit down deli, a ton of variety. I think it's a bit overpriced. Try this place out if you are willing to risk your meal... Gotta try their creme brulee shake! sooooo good! I've also had their frozen hot chocolate and that was delish! I tried their Craisin Chicken and Tuscan Chicken -both on a poppy seed bagel roll- and it was pretty good, I felt like I was eating healthy, but I doubt that because it was too good to be completely healthy lol. The chicken was tender and not dry (who's a happy camper?! Me! so many times did I have chicken salad at other locations and it was dry but this place? Perfecto!). The roll tasted fresh -but wish I asked for it to be toasted slightly. I think I'll ask for romaine lettuce in it next time to add a nice crisp bite. I've only had one experience when I felt that the cashier was annoyed because I asked questions... BUT i totally understand because there was 2 people waiting behind me (I'm still a Newb). I think Stuff-a-Bagel now has a location at 1253 Melville Road which is across the street from Farmingdale State College. This is a great spot to pick up a quick breakfast or lunch. The manager should not be employed here. I asked for well done potatoes with my omelette a few weeks in a row now and I've only received well done potatoes once. Today, I made sure the girl taking my order knew I wanted well done potatoes with black on them because I'm tired of not getting what I'm ordering. I opened the box to find out that they are the opposite of well done. Once I got the manager and asked for well done potatoes again, he said it would take at least ten minutes and then my omelette would be cold. So I brought that up and he said he wouldn't waste the eggs and make new ones. So the only choice I had was to get my money back. On top of that, they were extremely difficult. Some cook with a bad eye starts grilling me and shaking his head. Then he comes out the kitchen to try to handle the situation as if it's his job yelling at me to leave when I wasn't rude to anyone. I've cooked for a living for 15 years and understand mistakes happen. But to refuse me well done potatoes with my breakfast and then to be bullied by the manager and some cook that doesn't know his place or how to cook potatoes well done is insane. I've grown up in this town and always came here throughout the years. This was extremely disappointing to find out that Stuff-A-Bagel can't produce well done potatoes and actually employed these people and had the nerve to make one of them a manager. I can't even discuss this problem with anyone in charge because there is no phone number for anything to contact someone that the manager answers to other than the store number. Very rude!! I can confirm that if they don't like you they throw your change at you. Happened to me today. I ordered my food, and asked for a little cup of water for my dog that was outside with my husband. The young girl behind the counter gives me the cup first to go and fill. She then states she has to charge me a dollar for the plastic cup. I get times are tough but $1.00 for an empty cup? I than question her and she says I have to. I said that's ridiculous and she says you know what forget it and throws my change at me. Disgusting behavior. Then another customer comes in and it was a regular and she was sweet as pie. He asks her about school and for some reason her financial situations and she says it's not good. A worker should not be telling anyone that on the job. The owner told me their place is self serve and that's why they don't clean off the tables!!! Their napkin holders are embedded with dust and floors never swept. Masks were not required by customers as a few were able to order without wearing masks and employees were not consistently or correctly wearing masks either. Girl with glasses at the counter should really learn to be friendly. Walked up and when I got to the counter, she just walked away and started doing someone's order. Just say something. Don't just walk away. After a minute or two of her just looking at me standing there without saying anything, she says "Staying or going?" After I order, she says how much and that's it. No "thank you" or anything. Just silence. Then the egg sandwich comes out and 1/2 way through, there's something crunchy... spit out egg shells, next bite had them too. I don't understand why it should be so hard to order a bacon, egg & cheese omelette to go. A simple order always turns into you having to explain how an omelette should be made & then you're asked whether you want it on a bagel or a roll. I seldom visit Farmingdale, and I recalled that Stuff-a-Bagel on Main Street was pricey. Today, I learned the lesson again. There is a commuter special $2.70 plus tax, buttered bagel and coffee. Otherwise, it appears that coffee is not included. Two eggs on a roll with sausage (skip the cheese) and tax came to over six bucks. ---- Other reviews praise the quality of their specialty items. I was not in the mood for cream cheese but if I was I probably would have tried the cinnamon raisin cream cheese or the maple walnut, which also looked good. A few reasons, their selection is infinite. If they don't have it on the menu, they will make it. I've been going here for almost 15 years. Always a Farmingdale favorite. They have a great selection of salads, wraps, and even coffee. It has always been clean when I've gone there. I particularly love their red skinned potato salad. It has hard boiled eggs and I believe celery. It's perfect with tuna on a plain bagel. The bagels at Stuff-a-bagel are fine, your standard Long Island bagels. I picked up a dozen (they gave me 14, much appreciated) and the guy helping me was very friendly and patient as I picked them all out. I also got a 1/2 pound of scallion cream cheese. Total price? About $21 and when I checked, I noticed I was charged about $6 for the cream cheese alone. I'm not saying they overcharged me, but the prices are very high IMO. I've gone to places and gotten the same thing for closer to $15. When I asked others, they all agreed, their prices are way higher than most other places on Long Island. There are plenty of other places to go that charge much less for the same quality product so unless I'm in a situation where this is the only place I can get to like this time, I'll probably go elsewhere. read more
