I came here with my wife and friends, I really wanted this to be a new found go to place but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hope. The appetizers were the best things we ordered, the Sugar Bacon was good and better than some reviews had described. There's flavors queso was also really good and worth going back for. We were eating at 1:30 on a Saturday so the available options to order from were the appetizers, sides and brunch items. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which came with two eggs cooked to order, the gravy was better tasting than a lot of other restaurants but it was given sparingly, I had to ask for more and even then it still wasn't enough gravy. My wife had the shrimp and grits which was ok, nothing to get excited about. Overall the food was just MEH... our waiter was great and accommodating. The manager or owner stopped at the table to say hello. It's in a great location and could be an above average restaurant (food) but we all decided that we wouldn't be coming back. We stopped by this last weekend. When we walked in we both said, "wow what a cool place!" Ambiance was on point. But, it was a really nice day so we opted for patio seating. So did everyone else, can't blame them! Ten tables outside and we were seated with a few tables still empty. There appeared to be at least 3 waitresses/waiters covering the patio area yet we sat for quite a while before whom I assume was a manager approached us and asked if we needed anything. We let him know that we had not been waited on and he says he'll send our server right out. She did arrive shortly after that with apologies and water for the table. Because we had been there so long we were already ready to order. We ordered a drinks, appetizer and our entree's. Another 10 minutes went by and someone brought our entree's... we let him know we still hadn't received our drinks or appetizer. Drinks came next followed finally by our appetizer? I ordered the Brussels sprouts SIDE dish. Good lord it was huge! Enough to provide a side dish for a whole family! Although it was good, the quantity was insane. My husband ordered the grilled cheese which was again, ok, but way too much cheese. After he deconstructed it and removed some of the cheese it was edible and tasty. Sadly the appetizer, the Sugar Bacon we ordered, wow, it was bad. SO much chewy unrendered fat, and the small amount of actual meat was so dry and tough it was almost beef jerky. Very disappointing considering the restaurant is named "Sugar Bacon". We ended our experience by waiting another 20 minutes or so before the sever ever came back to check on us and by that time we were ready for the check. We went here when there was only one other table in the restaurant. It took about 40 minutes for the food to come out. The Short Ribs, Tacos, and Shrimp and Grits, and Pork Belly were not good. Fries were okay but not enough Parmesan flavor. The Brussel Sprouts was the best dish. I didn't think it needed the mascarpone cheese but it sure was different. If you park out front watch the curb. It's very high. You could hit the bottom of your door. I warned my wife and of course you can guess what happens next. The menu was limited for Father's Day and I was surprised there were no steaks options available. They even had a showcase up front of aged steaks. What father doesn't want steak? I was sad. Lol it was quickly made up for with spot on service from Kelsey. She made us (toddler included) feel at home. I ordered the Smokey Old Fashion. It was so smooth and slightly refreshing. Usually you don't hear this type of cocktail, "quenching your thirst"...at least for me. It was delivered table side by the bartenders. When they poured it, it was like liquid nitrogen smoke was flowing into my glass. It was actually the 'Smokey' part and it had a cigar tobacco scent with some other notes. It was pleasant and not stinky. You know how when you caught a whiff of someone smoking a cigar and its horrible? This one was the polar opposite. It was very pleasant. He took our order fast and made some recommendations. We started with the deviled eggs, and ordered the brunch burger and ribeye and eggs as our meals. We also ordered mimosas they were delicious. The deviled eggs came out quickly, but they were so salty. The burger and truffle fries were amazing. The ribeye and steak was pretty bland plus they didn't have steak sauce. Also it took forever for our food to come out. There was not a lot of people in the restaurant so we were confused. The waiter apologized several times. They even have out roses to the moms... nice touch. They did have a set menu for Mother's Day. I had checked out the menu online before leaving home and was going to get the Short Ribs but they sure not on the menu...bummer!! I believe the server said they were in the process of updating their menu but it should be brought back. We ordered the Sugarbacon as an appetizer. Came here on a Monday night for dinner and had such a great experience! I've only come one other time before during brunch so I was excited to be able to try their dinner menu which is extensive and has many options. We started off with the ham and cheese board, grilled gulf oysters, sugarbacon, and pork spare ribs for our appetizers. (Yes, our group was hungry!) The ham and cheese board was huge and had a variety of cheeses, fruits, meats, spreads, and pickled veggies and is great for sharing. The grilled gulf oysters were very tasty and topped with smoked monterrey jack cheese, cilantro, and chives. Great option if you like oysters! The sugarbacon was also very delicious and the huge chunks of smoked pork belly and watermelon was an unusual pair that worked surprisingly very well. The pork spare ribs were super tender and had a nice peach-bourbon glaze on it with a side of pickles. Very tasty and probably could've eaten another order of this. For my entree, I went with the sea scallops which came with creamed corn sauce and cilantro crema. The scallops were seasoned and cooked perfectly! The rest of my table ordered the short ribs, long bone porkchop, and crawfish pot pie. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We finished our meal off with a hummingbird cake which has marinated pineapple, banana cream, and raspberries. It was light and refreshing and a great palate cleanser. We stopped here on the way to Heard museum mainly because of its diverse menu. But on a Sunday they have only a brunch menu until 3pm so that was a disappointment. In fact, the entire experience was a disappointment. After we were seated for lunch, we sat for a solid 10 minutes and were ignored as waiters walked by us. We were on the verge of leaving when our waiter finally arrived. I got the "modern" Caesar salad and it was not bad, but the portion was small and the chicken was tough and chewy. The menu said "shaved" chicken but it was not shaved, it was strips. And not a lot of chicken, maybe 5 small strips. The modern take was ok but not a huge improvement over the traditional Caesar. I give them points for the avocado which did not have brown spots. The wife had shrimp and grits and she said it was not bad but she did not like all the onions on top of the grits. She never saw that before and did not like it at all. The portion was small and there were hardly any grits. The flavor was good though. The waiter was able to arrange a kid's portion of French toast because they have no kid menu. That was nice. It was ok, but the bread was too soggy and fell part from way too much butter and then syrup. We don't go to McKinney often but if/when we return to McKinney we would not return here. There are so many other restaurants to try and this place was not compelling enough to warrant a return visit. read more

We had a great meal there. And their craft drinks are pretty unique and amazing. Watch the video about the purple haze. It's unparallel as a creation. There's not a lot of alcohol in it but it's a pretty WOW drink. The bee sting cocktail was also pretty amazing especially if you like. Spicy margarita with jalapeño and touch of honey. Very interesting pretty darn good. On the food side, meatballs with bourbon sauce were fantastic and the Ménage Á Hog was super unique, extremely good dish and, I'm not sure about the chocolate bacon, but if you're a chocoholic, this is for you. The other two bacon pieces were incredibly good. The sauces that came with it were a fantastic molasses sauce and a spicy mayo. Both were pretty super good. Warning, DO NOT ORDER THE SUGARBACON. IT'S WARM, FRESH PORK RINDS SCATTERED OVER SOME OVERLY FATTY PORK BELLY STRIPS with a weak sauce. We started with mimosas and Sugarbacon - which isn't bacon at all! Perfectly cooked pieces of pork belly in a watermelon chutney, crispy edges and melt in your mouth pork belly, beautifully garnished - here's a tip, don't cut the pieces, think sushi, all the flavors meld together in your mouth, truly a work of art. We then had the newly added to their menu brunch burger and the pulled-pork Benedict - both were amazing. Perfectly cooked eggs (poached on the Benny and an over easy fried egg on the burger), sauces on both were delicious. They really knocked it out of the park - we will be back for sure! read more

Both of the bartenders worked in concert for flawless service. The food came out timely, I'm sure if it was extra servers or if it was the QAC. They were very on point as well. With tip it was $71. One would think for $71. I could get caramelized onions on my burger when it says its caramelized onions. What's next no truffles in the truffle fries? Grilled white onions are not caramelized. This is a high end eatery with super expensive aged steak. And I am sure that they are delicious as I'm hoping the trimmings were in my burger. Decided to meet up with a friend to grab some food for the first time in McKinney. The food overall was delicious and the atmosphere just added to it. Started off with the Sugarbacon which had me a little nervous because I was thinking it was going to just be bacon which I'm not a fan of but it was some incredibly well cooked pork belly with a nice crispy exterior and a nice tender center bursting with flavor! The bee sting was a nice pairing too. For mains I went with the pork chop which was nicely cooked and served with a delicious peppercorn sauce. However, I wasn't a fan of the cauliflower rice it came with because it tasted a little too earthy and that was a bit overwhelming. Other than that the food was delicious and if you're in the area looking for food, this is a great option! P.S.
