We went there for my birthday yesterday. Let me say that the food and service were both amazing, as always. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Sides were delish. Here's the issue that I have... Major- when we got the bill, EVERY ITEM that we ordered was 8-10 dollars more than what was on the menu- appetizers, drinks (liquor), and entrees. This made our bill about $75-$100 more than it should have been. We didn't want to raise a fuss about it so we just paid it (which is totally the opposite of what we normally would have done), but I definitely feel deceived. That deeply impacted how I felt about my experience there. Minor- I decided to wear a hat that day because I didn't have time to do my hair. They told me that I would not be allowed in the main dining area with my hat. I understand that normally hat rules apply to men, but as a woman I've never been asked to remove a head covering and it was a little upsetting for me. I had to go in the bathroom and style my hair as best as I could to be suitable for their dining standards. I also didn't raise a fuss but I was very unhappy about this. Since it was my birthday, the waiter offered to take a print a photo of us, to which I declined because of my hair/hat issue. I eventually just allowed him to, and needless to say, was not too pleased to be immortalized looking undone. He also shared with us that his management once turned a guy away with a ball cap on, only to find out that he was a NASCAR champion. Their pretentious policies actually cost them customers and ultimately, money. Probably won't be back there. read more

Pricey steakhouse. They were very nice to help us celebrate our anniversary with a card/picture etc. The steaks were huge with a huge price. Really way too big. I would have loved a smaller option (not because of the price, but no one should eat 20 ounces of steak!) What turned me off was the server asking if I would cut into my steak to see if it was cooked properly. Ok. If your chef doesn't know how to cook at $65 steak-you've got bigger problems. That is something a Ponderosa cheap steakhouse would do. The food was ok, but honestly $200 for dinner without any wine is a bit much. I know, all the steakhouses are expensive, but the food better be exceptional-and this food just wasn't. Place needs a decoration overhaul. "Art" that looked like cork board, and chairs with the backs all worn out. I just expected better. read more

I brought my 2 daughters to Sullivan's on Christmas Day. My youngest is quite picky and they were so kind to make accommodations for her. The service was excellent, our waitress was a very nice and attentive woman. I ordered a glass of Malbec and my girls had Kiddie Cocktails. We started off with salads, each of us having different versions, and each was delicious. My entree was the ribeye with porcini mushroom shallot sauce. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a perfect topper. My oldest daughter ordered the strip steak with gorgonzola butter, which she thoroughly enjoyed. And my youngest just wanted a baked potato with butter only. She at the entire potato and loved the crispy skin. Our sides were the brussel sprouts and mushrooms, both were very good. Perfect for a special occasion! Came here for Mother's Day and safe to say she was impressed. Starting off with a rose for my mom, our waiter Ian was phenomenal. All of the seafood we got for our starters were very fresh! The crispy shanghai calamari was a crowd pleaser with the sweet and spicy sauce, and we loved the mashed potatoes that came as a side for my dad's "the sure thing" course (it's a salad, entree, side, and dessert for $58). Both ribeye steaks were exceptionally cooked and very tender. For the quality of the food, the diverse flavors and menu options, and the ambiance, we'd have to say it was worth the price. Everyone left very full and satisfied. We'll be returning for sure! Morton's is our other steakhouse fav, but this is up there. I saw other reviews complaining about small portions/high prices; I'd have to agree, but I'd recommend getting gift cards through Costco for a better deal! read more

I love hanging out at the bar area in Sullivans, bonus points if it's during their happy hour. Kelly and Dave are both very attentive and personable. Everyone I've ever seen working here always looks professional. I'm a big dirty martini girl and they make a good one, plus aren't stingy on the olives. Their happy hour consists of $8 bar bites. We got the blue cheese chips and spicy shrimp egg rolls. The egg rolls have a little kick because of the sriracha sauce but not overwhelmingly spicy. I really like both of these apps. I've also previously had the crab cakes which are yummy. It's more of an upscale place in Naperville but nothing super fancy. read more

My family went here for a special occasion. I seem to remember Sullivan's being higher quality when I was younger, but it's still a good dinner out. We did have a larger party, but was surprised how long we had to wait even though we had a reservation. Waiting isn't a problem though, as they have a nice bar area in the front with tables so you can get a drink while you wait. The food is pretty good, but you definitely pay for it! Still dreaming about the wonderful anniversary dinner we had at Sullivan's a couple of Fridays ago. We love steaks and love red wine, and together, it's the perfect combination. We got to enjoy a beautiful 2019 Sequoia Grove bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (which happened to be the year we got married) which had so much flavor and paired so well with all of our food. Sullivan's service was top notch, with our server bringing rose petals and a card for the table. Plus, we got a little momento of a black and white printed picture of us from dinner too (not pictured). Food wise, every dish was on point! For appetizers, we shared calamari and oysters. For our main course, we had a filet mignon (me) and a rib eye (hubby). And dessert was a yummy strawberry cheesecake. I wish we could always eat here but realistically, I'm so happy we chose to celebrate 5 years of marriage with such a special time at Sullivan's! This was my first time coming to Sullivan's, and the inside was so much bigger than I thought! It was a Thursday dinner and the place was pretty packed; My mom and I both got the set meal that was $48 (which you have to ask for a separate menu for). We got Caesar salad, shrimp and lobster bisque, filet mignon, ribeye, cheesecake, and bananas foster bread pudding. The bisque was tasty but way too salty. The steaks were also well cooked, but very salty. I likes the mashed potato side and complimentary bread! Been wanting to check this place out and finally made it to pop my cherry. For apps we tried the charbroiled oysters and seared ahi tuna. The winner was the oysters for the night, literally 10/10 so juicy, creamy, but kind of sad it only came in orders of 4. The seared ahi tuna wasn't accepting to my taste buds and heads up slightly spicy. Just wasn't a fan that's all maybe I can't handle my spice levels and need to do better ! Lol .For a steakhouse I will say the steak was marvelous! The garlic sauce to add on was beyond yummy! However the stuffed crab shrimp belongs on the appetizer menu. For 46 dollars it feels like a rip off when you like to eat good food. Besides it being expensive and fairly small it wasn't even that good. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was a good pick to be at on Valentine's Day. Very kind hostess to greet you upon walking in. It didn't take long for them to seat my wife and I. Every employee was super friendly and kind. Low light ambiance and classy environment. Perfect place you want for an intimate occasion. They offer valet services & public parking across the street is available. It's in the heart of downtown Naperville and walking distance from the river walk. The food was definitely tasteful. The service staff here was very friendly and attentive. Our hostess chatted with us as she seated up and our waitress checked in on us the perfect amount of times. They have a great drinks selection, I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and my boyfriend ordered bourbon and we both were very pleased with our selections. They give you bread and butter and the bread is warm and soft which is what I love in bread! I was so pleased and wanted to eat it all before my entree arrived. I ordered the Chilean sea bass and my boyfriend got a steak and we shared a side. My boyfriend really enjoyed his steak and we both enjoyed the au gratin potatoes. I was so happy with my sea bass. The sauce that they pair with it was delicious. They were out of bok choy so my fish sat on spinach was equally delicious. I ate all of my fish and was so contentedly full that I couldn't even think about dessert. I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner once in a while. The good: The ambience was modern and not a distraction. Tables far apart to not overhear others. The service was attentive and on time. The filet was seasoned well and cooked to tempt. The ribeye was seasoned well. The bad: we were sat adjacent to the bathroom, we didnt use gift cards, coupons, or bought on credit. There was a fly that was present most of the time near our food. THERE WAS PEPPER AND SALT ON THE TABLE. BIG SIGN OF DO NOT GO HERE. The person seating us unfortunately had an ax to grind not sure why as there were plenty of other open seats. Drinks: margarita was spicy water and gross. Food: the calamari was slightly under seasoned and the texture was tough and over cooked, i do not believe it was frozen so thats a plus. The lobster mashed potatoes were the same as you would get at chilis, the asparagus was nicely cooked and seasoned, the mushrooms were soggy and not cooked through but was seasoned well. The ribeye had large sinew running through it and the fat caps were not rendered down properly. The ribeye was under of what was asked more blue rare which is typically not a sticking point but aggregated with all the other negatives, it hammers my point of a sub optimal dinning experience. The filet tasted nice but for the fact the middle was stabbed multiple times due to the testing of the temp of the cook, amateurs. We were offered leftover and searched for a homeless person to give it to, even he said throw it away. A huge disappointment we went to gordan ramsays restaurant after for more drinks and dessert. I strongly advise to avoid this place at all cost. If you want better steak go to ruth christ or maple and ash in the city. Sullivans is an expensive Chili's. read more

Came here for my birthday and was underwhelmed considering how classy of a reputation this place is suppose to be. I ordered the wagyu steak and lobster mash potato's and they hardly put any lobster in it. My partner ordered the filet mignon and Mac and cheese which was good. When I went to the bathroom, my partner did tell the waitress that it was my birthday and it was really nice that they left a message but usually they will take it off the bill as a treat. We also ordered gin and tonics throughout the night and I had said I didn't want one but she brought it out anyway so we had to have it. It could have been some confusion but I had talked to her directly about not wanting it so I don't know how much confusion their could have been. Had SUCH a lovely dinner date here!! My husband and I went on a Monday night around 7 and had no problems getting a table without a reservation. The inside is dark, cozy and intimately lit with candles on the table. We skipped appetizers since we had stopped at another place beforehand, but had complimentary bread & whipped butter with our wine. I had the brick chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, cherry peppers & balsamic onions. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and had amazing crispy skin. Mashed potatoes were silky smooth with great flavor. Nothing needed additional seasoning which is always big for me. I loved the addition of the cherry peppers & soft balsamic onions. My husband ordered the NY strip steak with garlic butter & a side of mushrooms. He ordered medium and it was overcooked, more to medium well. He still really liked it and the bite I tried was very flavorful with a nice crust. We just wish it came out medium. The mushrooms were some of the BEST I've ever had. I'm honestly still thinking about them. If you like mushrooms you must order them here!!! Most importantly, our waitress was so nice and gave us great service.
