Surisan is a solid Asian/Korean fusion brunch spots in the city for birthdays or Sunday brunch, but lacks a bit in the actual food department, by sometimes not fully embracing its Korean roots or trying to be too snap worthy. Chicken wings + ricotta pancakes were great - very yummy. Wings were crunchy and had a nice glaze while the pancakes were bouncy and just sweet enough with a nice lemony kick. The bibimbap was ok. You'd get a better one at a tofu house elsewhere. The flavors were one note and the spicy sauce it came with wasn't spicy + didn't do too much for the dish either. The galbijjim benny was good but it didnt really taste like galbijjim at all. It just tasted like braised soy sauce beef that's been cooked up until the meat could be torn apart thinly. When ordering I was imagining whole chunks of tender fatty short rib. This tasted like a leaner chunk of beef for sure. However, it was still delicious, dressed up with a poach egg and good veggies will do that though. Not pictured here is the shin cup dish that we got too. This was a disappointment. Noodles were overcooked and clumped together, texture was gone. Flavor was alright too - nothing special that you can't remake at home. The person who ordered it still enjoyed it though and it was a fun dish to see. This place is for the vibes. I think it does a lot of things very very well. The brunch foods and the basic items are yummy. The more complex Asian fusion foods are a slight let down but they still taste good for what they are. We were so excited to try Surisan on our most recent visit to the SF. We got there right when they opened on a Friday morning, and were quickly seated. We had a reservation, but it was pretty quiet in the restaurant until 10:30AM. I would still recommend making a reservation to ensure a table during brunch hours. I ordered the ube latte, and it was the best ube coffee I've ever had! Huge kudos to the barista who was crafting beautiful coffees and cocktails behind the counter. Our food was pretty good. The breakfast potatoes were the stars of the show. I would not order the carnivore scramble again - I wasn't a fan of the chicken mango sausage, or how they season their bacon, but all the ingredients were fresh, and the serving size was generous! The service was wonderful - we never had to call our waitress over, she was always checking on us and refilling our water glasses. 10/10 service! I took my family here for brunch. I was worried there would be a very long wait time like most brunch places in the city, so I made reservations. We got there a little early. The staff here were very nice. It was busy, but they were able to get us seated on time. Our sever was super friendly too. We started with some drinks for brunch. I got the Matcha Mojito and my niece got the Passion Fruit Cocktail. The drinks were decorated very nicely! I like mojitos and I like matcha, but I didn't like this drink too much. I feel like there was too much lemon flavor in the drink. Mojitos are supposed to be made with limes, not lemons. The passion fruit cocktail was good. For food, I got the Bulogi Japchae Rice. Definitely make a reservation! I had one for noon but was able to move it earlier, and we were seated around 11 AM with no issue. For a Sunday brunch, I expected it to be a lot busier, but it was surprisingly not, there were still quite a few empty tables. The ambience is on the louder side, but not overwhelming. The ordering and seating process was smooth. They took our order quickly and food came out quickly right after, but service started to go downhill after that. Our food and drinks were brought to the wrong table--not once, but twice--which happened to be a table that had already finished eating. I had to remind the staff to bring us our drinks (an orange juice and an iced latte) which I believe they forgot about. It was pretty frustrating and definitely made the service feel inattentive. As for the food, we weren't really craving anything from the Korean-inspired brunch menu, so we kept it classic. I got the Carnivore Scramble, and my girl friend got the Classic Two Eggs with bacon. Both were solid--great meat quality, eggs cooked well, and the potatoes were perfectly crispy. The popover was just okay; kind of hollow and not very satisfying. If I'm eating bread, I prefer something denser with more texture. It did come with some butter (which I enjoyed) and fruit (which I skipped). Overall, would I come back? Probably not. This restaurant is across the street from the Alton hotel where we're staying and I wish we had gone to this restaurantsooner! Nice ambiance and food tastes really good - they have a lot of interesting combinations. You can also go a little more traditional if that is more your jam. At first, it might seem that the dishes are pricey, but honestly, I think for the amount of food you get, it's reasonable. (Esp for SF!) If you share or stick to the main breakfast dishes with a regular coffee ($4 for coffee), your bill will be reasonable. The service was top notch, but there were only a couple tables occupied, so I can't vouch for how service would be if it were crowded. I think my favorite thing might be the Ube Milk. Never had that anywhere else, and it was perfectly balanced with fantastic Ube flavor. The Jook (rice porridge/ congee) is really rich and filling. It really hit the spot for me. I couldn't finish past a third of it, so I would recommend sharing it. The carnivore scramble was also rather epic. We liked stuffing the popover with the eggs and eating it like a pita! Although the Millionaire's bacon flight might be a good conversation starter, at $25 for 4 slices of candied bacon, I would skip it. Or just try it once to see what you think of it. Maybe it's because I'm a local, but when I think of where to get brunch in SF, areas like Fisherman's Wharf never really come to mind. No real reason for that, other than just associating it with touristy spots and how it's not the most convenient area to get to (parking isn't exactly the cheapest). However, you'd think I would've learned after visiting The Codmother - touristy or not, there are some legitimately awesome restaurants out here! And honestly, if there was ever a place that would inevitably catch my attention, it would be Surisan with their Korean/Fusion brunch options and Millionaire's Bacon! As soon as I learned that Surisan is one of the many restaurants in the Sweet Maple/Kitchen Story family, I had high hopes for this place. However, even if they weren't, nearly everything about this place is fantastic. The ambiance is chill, the decor is pretty cute, the vibes are great, and, most importantly, the menu is packed with so many appealing offerings. Whether you're looking for traditional brunch staples, like scrambles or French toast, pure Korean dishes, like bulgogi japchae or dolsot bibimbap, or various amalgamations, like galbi jjim benedicts or Korean fried chicken tacos, there's plenty of tasty options to choose from. So many, in fact, that I practically had to come back before writing this to try more! -- ICED BANANA LATTE with Whipped Cream...$8.50 Admittedly, I saw this going either really well or really badly (especially for the money). Thankfully, this was fantastic! The banana wasn't overwhelming and complemented the latte really well. Honestly, 10/10 would get this again. -- GALBI JJIM BENEDICT - Braised Boneless Short Rib, Tomato, Arugula, Meyer Lemon Hollandaise, Sriracha...$31 The most expensive benedict I've ever had, but also one of the best I've had, too! The egg was cooked perfectly, I liked the potatoes and muffin, and the Meyer Lemon hollandaise is really unique, but the star was clearly the galbi jjim - very tender and packed with flavor. -- MILLIONAIRE'S BACON SAMPLER PLATTER - Original, Citron (Orange and Sea Salt), Cinnamon (Sweet Cinnamon with Chipotle), and Rosemary (Savory Rosemary with Pepper)...$24 This may be their signature dish, but I thought it was disappointing. Although the strips of bacon were all pretty long, a good portion of each was entirely fat. As for how they tasted, surprisingly, the cinnamon was my favorite (not super potent), followed by the Rosemary and then the Citron and Original. -- LOCOMOCO - Angus Beef Cutlet, Sauteed Kimchi, Fried Egg, Rice, Gravy...$23 This was SO GOOD! I'd never had a slightly battered patty in a Loco Moco before, but it worked really well - a bit crispy on the outside yet meaty and juicy on the inside. I also loved how the gravy was more like a jus and how the kimchi helped to cut the dish's richness. -- COUNTRY BENEDICT - Korean Fried Chicken, Tomato, Spicy Country Gravy...$22 I was really scared that the chicken would lose its crispiness, but they were still super crispy despite sitting between the tomato and the egg. More importantly, the chicken was moist and delicious, the tomato added a nice freshness, and the gravy was terrific. Plus, the potatoes are great! Along with how terrific the food is, the service here isn't far behind. While it was a little slow the time we sat outside (there are just less workers to flag compared to when you sit inside), everyone is really friendly and food/drinks come out promptly. Yet, even knowing it may take longer at times to hail someone, I'd still opt to sit out front in the patio area if given the choice, especially when the weather is really nice (love the vibe out there). Plus, it's awesome how they're able to accommodate large groups pretty easily, which is not insignificant considering how that can eb a bit of a challenge at a lot of other places in SF. All together, it's not had for me to say that Surisan has quickly established itself as one of my favorite brunch spots. Of course, it also helps that I've found some non-meter spots to help me avoid having to park in the nearby garages or pay those ridiculously high parking meter rates. Great place a quick brunch, then a walk along the water! Got here around 10:15ish on Saturday and the place had a couple tables already eating. I got the spicy pork tacos, and don't be deterred by the fact they only come with two, the amount of filling and the fries are more than enough to fill you up. I have been super curious about the Jook, rice pooridge on the menu. Yesterday I finally ordered it even though the reviews I read were already mixed reviews. My first bite was warm and tasted of nothing but watery rice. I wanted to taste the pooridge itself first and then stir in the toppings. It was a huge disappointment and the rest of the bowl fell flat from there. When I make any kind of breakfast pooridge I always cook with milk and add a pinch of salt. This had my mind thinking of what I would add if I made it, I would add chicken base to the pooridge. The menu isn't too large, but there's a good variety of meals based on any dietary restrictions you might have. I started with an Ube Latte that was pretty good, not too sweet. We also got spicy sweet wings for the table. They were fried super nice. The sauce was a bit too sweet for me, but they were good. My main was this skillet with rice at the bottom, glass noodles on top, and bulgolgi beef. The noodles and beef was really good. The rice on the bottom wasn't seasoned or flavored so I mostly avoided it, but it did get a nice crisp from the skillet. The portion size was great. Overall, pretty good! Starting with the drinks, I ordered a strawberry matcha latte but ended up switching with my husband who ordered the ube latte. I really loved both, but especially the ube latte. It was a little difficult to pick a dish because everything looks so good. I really love that the IG is full of photos of everything on the menu, categorized. I really wanted to try the million dollar bacon, but I couldn't eat an order by myself so I'll have to save that for another time. For an appetizer we went with the Korean fried wings, sweet and spicy. OMG they were so good. My entrée was also amazing. I ordered the dolsot bibimbap and what a great choice. I didn't expect to have so much rice, nor did I expect the meal to stay hot for so long I mean, that was piping for about 15 minutes no lie. They don't call it hot pot for nothing. Portion was really good, so was the flavor. I also got a side of crispy potatoes, just because my eyes were bigger than my stomach. And they were good. I just couldn't finish them fortunately. The staff was so nice, the server who waited on us looked like he could've been an owner, but I'm not sure whether or not he was. But everyone was very, very nice and I'm so glad that we came here for a weekday brunch. I can imagine how amazing dinner must be. read more

Anytime I am in SF, I come here for brunch like it's mandatory. The last time I went, i met up with a friend who happened to be in town as well. It was just us 2 so we were seated within 5 minutes, I do not like where they sat us only due to It being extremely warm in that spot (back area hall going towards restroom) I got the pork belly with rice, over easy egg & a brown gravy that was soooo good. My friend got a similar dish but tofu instead. We of course had mimosas, is It really brunch without mimosas? read more

I would say a little overpriced but great food! The French fries were some of the best ever-/ super crispy and flavorful! I thoroughly enjoyed my fried rice, but I just thought it lacked some flavor. Overall I would recommend if you want some Korean fusion! It's definitely worth a try! read more

The ambiance was great. The seats, table and lightning were fantastic. Definitely a place for IG pictures. 5/5 The service was good. The waiters came to take our order immediately. They also came refill our water numerous times and check-in on our meal. 5/5 The food was average. Nothing to write home about. The bulgogi fried rice tastes like it is from Hmart hot food section. The only good thing about the country benedict was the fried chicken. The biscuits were too tough. The potatoes and the eggs were too undercooked for our liking. Potatoes were also a little underseasoned. The food came out warm as if it was sitting there for a while. Overall, food was 3/5. I would also like to point out that they charge for SF mandate that is no longer legal as of July 2024. The staff was accommodating and removed charge.
