I went to my friend's birthday party in the Karaoke Room at Sushi Bay 17 and it was so much fun. It's an awesome venue to have an intimate birthday party and to rent the room is only 15.00 an hour for up to 20 people. The food and drinks were great and the server was constantly refreshing drinks and running food he had some help but he was really on point with service. I was really looking forward to this place but I wasn't blown away. I came on a Sunday and wanted to try the all you can eat. But I found out it was HH too so I didn't think I can eat $30 worth on HH so I didn't go with the all you can eat. I thought it was weird they offered both on a Sunday. I think they have the best happy hour sushi menu. 3-6pm. The regular menu is great too! The gyoza is delicious. Every roll I have had here did not disappoint. The service is friendly and they pretty much leave you alone. It's a cute set up and I enjoy the interior as well as the patio seating. I am on a hunt for the my favorite sushi restaurant in Denver. I've been to around 15 almost 20, and this one is really up there. They have Sapporo on tap! Yummmmm. Wow, what a neighborhood gem! I strolled in for an early dinner Sunday night with my boyfriend and another couple, anticipating stuffing my face with the All You Can Eat Sunday special. Boy was it good! We debated eating off the happy hour menu instead, but dove in to the AYCE menu so we wouldn't have to worry about pricing. Ultimately, we probably should have stuck with the happy hour menu - the nigiri were HUGE. And I mean HUGE - giant pieces of raw beautiful salmon, tuna, halibut (seasonal and in season, yay!), striped bass, red snapper, yellowtail and more draped over balls of cool rice filled our table up faster than anyone would have thought. We were literally stuffed after our first round. Whoops. But we forged on and ordered 4 rolls that were simply amazing - I forget the names, but they included a double salmon roll, a shrimp tempura topped with mango and a white fish, a lobster tempura roll, and a spicy salmon with tuna...perhaps. It was all so good. I've been to almost every AYCE sushi joint in the city (Sushi Train and Mt. Fuji were my old faves) and this is without question my new favorite. Throw in the fact that it's walking distance from my house and this earns a solid 5 star mark. Plus, the service was AWESOME. Boom! read more

We've gotten delivery sushi from sushi bay twice now and both times it was excellent, were from Florida so we're pretty spoiled when it comes to fresh fish but this did not disappoint. Everything tastes fresh and is prepared as described, and came on time (actually early) the only issue I've had is rolls falling apart which is a little inconvenient but honestly not a big issue for me at all so we will be ordering again! read more

Sushi Bay is great, we've been here dozens of times and they have never failed us. The sushi is always very high quality and delicious no matter what, and the staff is very friendly. I especially love the garlic butter edamame and the spicy crunch salmon roll. The presentation of the food as well as the ambience of the restaurant are always great. I fully recommend! I wish I could leave a review with no stars. So I ordered $50 worth of sushi tonight through their website. The food arrived promptly but with its issues. First, the driver calls to let me know he's outside...well okay, I'm not in a locked entry gate apartment, you can just walk to my door. So I get my socks and shoes out and head outside. I'm staying in the rain, for almost a minute now, waiting for the driver to bring my order. He finally exits the car and hands me the bag. He and my bag sushi reek of cigarette smoke. I finally make it back to my apartment and prepare the food. I'm only able to eat the sashimi and vegetables before the smell of smoke gets to me. My friend was able to eat a few pieces of the roll. We couldn't even eat half of it. I've been there before, actually sat in the restaurant and enjoyed it, but this enough to no to go back. I called the restaurant and got a "so sorry" from a server there, not even the driver. I'll be calling tomorrow to speak to someone. I'll update my review after that. UPDATE: the manager refunded my money for my order and was extremely helpful and polite. read more

Unfortunately, Sushi Bay switched owners and not only did they increase prices, they managed to decrease the quality of the fish at the same time. Also, though the names of the rolls are the same, they are different. So double check before you order your 'favorite' roll. We are on the prowl for our new favorite sushi joint. read more

Been stuck in PSL Hospital, for a while, so I got my son to bring me lunch from sushi bay 17. We ordered a variety from the sushi menu, including California rolls, tuna rolls, crab, and a Spiderman roll, among others. I dont claim to be a connoisseur of sushi and sashimi, but my son and his wife are more so than I. We all agreed that this was in general some of the best sushi we ever had. We all will be going back, and trying out many more of the delicious food here. The Spiderman role is unusual, and excellent, and though the crab was not very spicy, it certainly was very tasty. The California rolls were exceptional. There was nothing I wouldn't happily order again, and most certainly will. read more

Not sure why this place wasn't rockin packed with customers. regardless, I'd recommend this joint if your looking for simple decor, a chilled atmosphere and top notch customer service. Oh and fantastic food!!!The sushi/sashimi was incredibly fresh, well plated (worthy of a magazine cover) and delicious. We didn't go for the typical seating table so opted for the bar. We prefer to be up and personal while eating sushi/sashimi. The chefs were friendly, knowledgable and gave us tips on different rolls to try out. Sushi delivery? Yes please!!! Fishy beef? Well that was just wierd. I ordered from here last night and was profoundly unimpressed till I got to the meat. Tempura combo was so-so, tuna tacos: so-so, seaweed salad: exactly what you'd expect. The salmon sashimi was delicious, the tuna sashimi: not so much. My cat didn't even like it. It didn't taste spoiled, it just tasted like cold moist cardboard. The beef and asparagus roll? You might want to sit down. I was impressed by a distinct fishy odor as soon as I opened the carton. I thought to myself "no way thats the roll. There's no fish in it." I decided it must have been something on the outside of the carton. I was wrong. Not as wrong as that first bite of beef and asparagus! My reflexes kicked in and the roll shot out of my mouth and my face twisted! I was wholly disgusted by $60 of takeout rendered inedible by the one thing that shouldn't have tasted like fish or ocean or poopy water at all. *sadface* read more

I came here last night and this place is awesome! Especially since it's so close to home. I came on a Sunday (when happy hour is longer) with 2 friends. This place is more like a 4.5, but I rounded up. The only reason being they served hot edamame which I am not a fan of. The crispy tuna appetizer is amazing and like nothing I've ever tried- a ball of tuna and fried rice wrapped in avocado served with a drizzle of thicker (think caterpillar roll type) sauce. The gyoza was pretty good and the caterpillar roll was same. My favorite was, hands down the 17 roll. If you love tuna, and spice you gotta try it - crispy tuna and avocado wrapped with fresh tuna. I will undoubtedly be back here SOON and can't wait to try more! read more

I have made several attempts to reach out to management/ownership regarding being overcharged, with zero response in return. Sushi Bay 17 has become our favorite sushi spot in town. We go every couple weeks and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. There is minimal staff turnover and the experience is always a good one. All you can eat on Sundays for $29.99 is the way to go, the spicy crispy tuna appetizer is awesome along with great sashimi and specialty rolls (Hot Night, Hangover, Pacific to name a few). Their late night happy hour is also a good deal, especially for beer and sake. read more

Finally went to this nearby sushi place last night. It was still pretty full at 9pm with diners. The sushi was great! We loved the speciality rolls best, our favorite being the one with sweet potato. Unagi roll was very good too. The presentation of our sushi plate was awesome. We are big fans of fat tuna sashimi however this wasn't are favorite at this place :(. FOOD POISONING ALERT! Wish I could leave zero stars. We used to love this place. Sushi was never out of this world but the wait staff is friendly and food is reasonably priced. HOWEVER... BEWARE! The last 2 times we ate there - within a month and a half of each other - there have been incidents of food poisoning. My boyfriend ate sashimi the first time that I steered clear of, and was horribly ill that night. We were there on 12/18, 2 nights ago, and ordered mostly cooked fish to play it safe along with a raw spicy tuna and yellowtail which we have had in the past. Within 30 minutes after our meal we were both horribly sick, and no we did not consume any alcohol. I had to call out of work - an hourly paying job, whereas my boyfriend got sent home from his for getting sick at work the following morning after going through it all night as well. So not only did we both lose money and have to bail on our teams at work, I called the following day and was told a manager would contact me the next day. When I got no call I decided to give them another ring. I explained the situation and received no apology or even remote kindness. I'd be easy to say this could be a cultural difference, but based on our conversation I'm ruling that out completely. I explained to the manager, Wesley, that I've been a loyal patron from years, to the point that some of the staff recognize us when we go in. The meal was only around $50 bucks but he refused offer any time of compensation. After working in customer service for 10 years not only do I abide by "the customer is always right", but also a simple apology that we both got sick would have sufficed. He told me no other patrons had called about food poisoning, but that obviously doesn't mean that there haven't been other cases. Shoot, we didn't even call the first time it happened. There was no budging whatsoever on his side, in fact I am offended by how resistant he was when it came to coming to any type of compromise. I would've been pleased with a "I can't refund your meal but let's discuss how Sushi Bay can make this right". I know you can't expect everyone to act the way you would in any given situation, even if he was unwilling to budge on the refund I requested (told him to keep the tip for our waitress even), I wish he would have at least been kind and tried his hardest to come to some kind of compromise to avoid a once extremely loyal customer feeling appalled and offended. I'm typically easy going, but the entire situation was atrocious from every angle in my opinion, and even if their sushi was actually amazing I would no longer choose to support this establishment. read more
