We were in the area and craving sushi, so we looked this place up and saw it had a lot of great reviews. We decided to give it a try, and we're really glad we did. It did not disappoint. Staff were very friendly and attentive and took good care of us. Big sushi bar wide open with the cooks all friendly and smiling. The fish was extremely fresh -- nothing smelled fishy at all -- and everything we ordered was delicious. Portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and we left very happy and satisfied.

We've been multiple times to the Sawtelle and Little Tokyo locations, always an exemplary dining experience. Rock solid consistent food and service. The same was true at the Pasadena location. Of the items we ordered, favorites were the cherry blossom roll, lemon roll, and happy hour white fish set C (included 2pc of each: yellowtail, snapper, kanpachi). I rate each of those three items 5/5 and so did my dining companions. I was less of a fan of the tiger crunch (in my opinion this was a 4/5 roll), but one of the three of us, the one who is a big fan of tempura crunch topping, LOVED this one. Crispy rice with spicy tuna is always a hit. Perfect texture and balance of components. Tea and water were refilled promptly and we were treated, as always at Enya, with kindness and suburb service. Will come again, enthusiastically!

A highly regarded sushi spot in Old Town that offers really good sushi and more. The vibe is casual and the presentation is pretty good depending on what you order. I had a couple of à la carte items and the Chirashi bowl to start off with. The cuts were really good and I could taste the care put into it. It's a good spot for sushi but when they look at you like you can't afford it and keep telling you the price of each item and trying to question you if you're sure you want to order the item? I definitely have a problem with that. I didn't get the memo that you had to dress a certain way and look a certain way to get decent service. Everyone around me seemed to be normal like me, so I really didn't appreciate or understand why this was happening to me. So not freaking cool man. That's probably my only gripe with this place besides the parking, LoL. Our last item of the awkward evening was the Chawanmushi which was so good but I was wanting a little more bang for my buck if you know what I mean. Are the Tariffs still in effect? And that's my take on it, Peace.

We were here last night, and honestly the host experience was pretty frustrating. There were about 4-5 tables open, but we were still made to wait outside in the cold. The host just walked around looking busy instead of seating us, which didn't make much sense. That said, the food was good. We ordered Chef No. 1 and Chef No. 2 rolls -- both were great, but Chef No. 1 was my favorite. The salmon sashimi was also our favorite dish overall, very fresh and tasty. The interior is nice and clean, which we appreciated. Food was solid, but the hosting situation really needs improvement.

As good as it gets when you about to drop some money on sushi. Clean quality seafood, and amazing service. Love the restaurant vibe the moment you walk in. Greetings from the host, the chefs all acknowledge your presence, and the aura you get just by sitting at your table speaks for itself. Always get the lemon roll! One of my favorite. I mean everything is spot on. The fresh crab hand roll. Truffle halibut, one of a kind. Chu-toro for the win! Super fatty and subtle. The yellowtail and yellowtail belly is my utmost favorite cut when it comes to having sushi. Fresh flavor and Enya delivers the quality. Also assorted sashimi is amazing. They don't skimp! Just remember you're going to pay for this quality. They do things elegantly here. You receive a story with each bite. When I say top tier this is it. Love everything about Sushi Enya. Always remember top off my food with some sake and beer x2 cause you know sushi ain't sushi without some shots and palate cleansers (21 and over that is) Enjoy!

What a great restaurant. Impeccable service, friendly, and great sushi in an area where there are a lot of amazing Sushi restaurants. Sit at the sushi bar and get Omakase like I did. You don't be disappointed. Can't wait to come back!

Our fourth time back at sushi enya because my boyfriend says it's his favorite and I agree! Food is amazing from rolls to sashimi! Pasadena location has a convenient park and pay next to the business. When entering we usually get to choose where we sit.(we time our visits and come right when they open lol) Service is great workers are always attentive, filling up our water when it's almost empty, checking up on us when we are ready to order more! It's nice quiet and the bar seems like a nice place to conversations with the sushi chef. We usually order a couple of rolls and end up the meal with sushi if we're hungry. The rolls here are great, nicely cut so it's not too big and perfect for a bite. Fish is fresh, sauce is not too overpowering or overwhelming. This time ordered albacore helly but they were out! Gotta try it next time, love you sushi enya!!

Wow! How refreshing to see a truly unique menu with creative options for everyone. As a vegetarian, my only choice at many Japanese restaurants is between a cucumber roll and an avocado roll. I got the Vegan Green Man specialty roll. However, I had a hard time deciding as they also offer asparagus truffle oil, sweet corn tempura and Japanese eggplant sushi rolls - flavors I have not seen on any other menu. My husband got the lemon roll and cherry blossom roll. HUGE! Everything beautifully plated in generous portions. Our waiter was fantastic. He took it upon himself to remedy our wobbly table even though it wasn't bothering us. He discussed the vegetarian rolls with me including which he personally enjoyed. The restaurant is very clean and it has a nice atmosphere. I can't wait to go back. Best Japanese I have eaten in a long time.

Ask the Community - Sushi Enya - Pasadena

    How much is omakase?

$180 pp for basic and $250 pp for deluxe. See my review for further information

    Is it Omakase only?

No, it is not only Omakase.

    Do you open for lunch?

    Yes

Is the Pasadena location less busy than the downtown location for a large group of 6?

This Pasadena location is definitely more chill than the downtown location. But with bigger parties we arrive at 5:30 when they open to make things easier :)

    How to change omakase reservation?

Call and speak with the host/ess. You need verbal confirmation of the change.

Since there are no reservations, how long is the wait time to get seated?

Good question! We usually show up 15 minutes before they open and get seated right away as they open their doors. Going around 7pm, may mean an hour wait or more...

How much is omakase dinner pp?

$225, but you can find it on their web page

    Do they have unagi bowls?

    Sorry I can't remember.

Do they have AYCE option, if so how much?

    No, they do not.

    Do they take reservations?

    Nope

Not a problem, the lunch menu was equally enticing. A 2-course offering for $25. I started with the Thai Prawn Ceviche. This course was wonderfully balanced, not too acidic, also a nice touch of sweetness and plump flavorful prawns. For the main, my selection was the Beef Truffle Wok-Seared Noodles. I was delighted that they were round noodles and they arrived at my table stirred in a dark sauce with sliced beef pieces on top. A small porcelain decanter was also supplied, containing the truffle oil. I poured it over my noodles. The beef was tender, moist and could be cut with the usual provided table knife. The whole dish was a winner, from start to finish. Service here, as expected, was well executed. Need to be aware of the parking though. There is a public garage around the corner that is advertised for this establishment and a few others. Problem is, that Star Leaf validates only for 1-hour, while their neighbors do so, for 2-hours. I addressed this issue with the manager at my last visit and this time too. The answer I got was not convincing to suggest that they care, or will do something about it, anytime soon. Oh well.

Of course, I went in because I already know the quality of their food. I always find their noodles fresh and chewy, and the dishes are rich in texture and flavor. But this time, since I was by myself, I didn't order a noodle dish because I was just by myself. So, I ordered the beef roll, which is also to die for! Just really enjoy their food overall. If you've never tried Noodle Street before, definitely check out their menu and give their noodles a try. This particular location was clean, the staff was nice, and the wait wasn't long when I arrived. I would definitely come back again! I'd like to add one more detail. While I was waiting for my food, one of the staff members, possibly the manager, Justin, came over and asked if I'd like to have a small bowl of broth on the side. I said yes and was impressed by that offer. Why? This young man understood that I had ordered only the beef roll, which is a dry dish. Having a little warm broth on the side made it much easier and more enjoyable to eat. I had water, though, but I personally never drink water before or after my meal, so the broth was definitely a perfect complement to the beef roll. This is the first time in my Noodle Street eating history that I've been offered something simple to enhance my dining experience. A small gesture that I think is worth mentioning, as it showed that he was attentive and had very good common sense when it comes to customer service. Thumbs up to him, and an extra star from me for this location.

While I was staring at the menu deciding whether I wanted to get anything, several people came and went with their orders and everyone told me to get the fried chicken. So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good.
