You get what you pay for. Quantity not quality. Been here twice with consistent results. Large portions of fresh but low quality fish. Second time was take out. Was told it would take 30 min. I arrived early to make sure to get it fresh. I arrived and the place was not busy and the food was already waiting. Got home and it was clear the food had been sitting around for a while already. In my previous review I said that it was worth the wait, but I take that back. I was there yesterday for take out and it took 50 minutes to get my order. Several parties walked in after I had already placed my order and they all received their lunches way before I did. Originally I was told 25 minutes, 30 minutes max. When my order was finally ready to be bagged, the guy helping me out made me wait even further so he could refill drinks and run out plates for seated customers. If I hadn't already paid, I would have left. The food is good, but the service I received was inexcusable. Came here for the first time because our favorite local sushi place was closed on Monday. The asparagus roll was good but that was about it. The sweet shrimp head tasted fishy and was rock hard. I am pretty shocked this place have such great reviews. My gfs and I decided to check it out on a Saturday afternoon, it was not busy at all. The service was mediocre, the server brought out our dishes in random orders, appetizers came out last and she forgot our calamari order. But that is not why this place deserves 1 star, it is because there were gnats flying around our food and the avocado in our rolls were BROWN, which made us believe, if THAT isn't fresh, how fresh can the sushi be? I've been here twice this past week and these are my experiences. First time: Came with my boyfriend on a Monday evening around 6:30pm and it was very crowded. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food so we had high hopes for the place. Checked yelp also and saw that the reviews here were decent, which made us even more excited. Was able to be seated in 15-20 minutes and after looking over the menu, we ordered the Crunch Roll, Maru Special, and Seafood Yakisoba. Crunch Roll was absolutely delicious. Hands down the best Crunch Roll I've ever tried. So creamy and what I loved was that they were generous with the avocado, and I love avocado. It was $7.99 which is the average price for a crunch roll. The Maru Special, which was $11.99 I believe and a Chef Specialty roll, was good, but honestly the Crunch Roll was just as satisfying, if not better, and cheaper as well. Lastly, the Seafood Yakisoba was great too. Not the best Yakisoba I've tried but it was still very good. Service was mediocre. Not the best and one of the waitresses seemed extra grumpy. We were charged for garlic edamame that we didn't order and so we asked to have it removed from our bill. She did that without any questions, but was also very unhappy while doing so. Overall, we were satisfied with the food, but the service was a bit lacking. Second time: The boyfriend was still craving the Crunch Roll here so we came on a Thursday evening around 5:30pm. Wasn't very crowded at all so there was no wait. Ordered the Crunch Roll and this time we decided to order the Spicy Seafood Ramen with the California Roll. BIG MISTAKE. The California Roll was superb since once again they were generous with the avocado as well as the crab meat, but besides the lacking service, the Spicy Seafood Ramen is the reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 5 stars despite loving all their rolls so far. When I see "ramen", I expect long, chewy noodles in a rich, flavorful, beef broth. Instead, I got instant noodles. I kid you not, when the bowl came out, the "ramen" was instant noodles, and the "broth" tasted like the packet that comes with instant noodles except extremely diluted and slightly flavored with some vegetables and some seafood. I understand that this place is Korean owned, and correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, in Korea "ramen" is the same thing as instant noodles. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that this is the reason for labeling instant noodles as "ramen" on the menu, BUT I still think that it is unacceptable to even serve instant noodles at a restaurant even though it was only for $8.99 (with the California rolls) which I think is still expensive considering that it's basically instant noodles. My boyfriend and I were so disappointed and our moods had gone down the drain because of the "ramen", and so we decided to just go to Shin-Sen-Gumi to eat real ramen. Service this day was alright since it wasn't crowded. Had a very sweet and soft-spoken waitress. Last but not least, the Crunch Roll was still as good as it was the first time we came. Overall / TLDR: Coming back for the rolls and ONLY the rolls, and to try their sushi a la carte. DO NOT GET THE SPICY SEAFOOD RAMEN. Looking back, it's probably called Sushi Town for a reason haha. Mediocre service and tends to get crowded. It's also located in a small plaza with limited parking spots so it's best to come a bit early. Very tempted to give this place 2/5 stars because of the "ramen" and the service, but the rolls were fantastic so 3/5 stars. read more

Borderline 2-3 star place. I had the Chirashi bowl, which consisted of two slices of each of the following: Tamago, synthetic crab, salmon, tuna, shrimp, albacore, and yellowtail. All of this is served on a bed of sushi rice topped with a bit of roe and seaweed flakes with 2 pickled asparagus and a pickled carrot on the side. Texture and quality was a bit of a letdown, but portion size was not half bad. If you don't plan to sit in for a meal, it would be best just to head straight to the fish aisle at Marukai. read more

I would rate this place 4 stars, but the service was absolutely terrible. 6-7pm on a week night and they had only 1 server. My date and I ordered three rolls, and sat there waiting for nearly 40mins (no lie). I really felt bad for the people waiting at the door for upwards of an hour for seats to open up. When we did finally get our food, it was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, and certainly not the worst. Definitely not worth the long wait. My suggestion is to sit at the sushi bar, people got their food in less than half the time it took us. I saw a couple come in 10mins after us seated at the bar get their food, eat and were leaving just as we were served our first roll. read more

I have been here 5 times now and the food is good and relatively inexpensive. You can bring your own saki and they charge you a $12 corkage, so it's totally worth it if you bring the magnum sizes. But the service is pretty awful. At the moment we have been sitting at the table we have been seated at (Saturday at 5 pm - so not busy at all for this place) for 10 minutes and have not been greeted by our server or even been given water.
