I placed a to go order for one sushi roll and a dinner plate.!I should have asked the total once I placed but I did not . Once I picked up my order my total was $46.00!?!? .. I had to ask for my order to me repeated back to me .. I was like "WOW OKAY" .. As I was leaving I asked for Siracha sauce only for the employee to say he can't . I had to say to him " I just paid $46 for a meal and I can't even get Siracha sauce?" I was so shocked and reese pieces away of asking for a refund .. I couldn't believe my ears .. SUSHIRAW - Caterpillar Roll sauce on side never disappoints!! - Japanese Near Me - Granada Hills, California

Since our favorite Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood is quite busy and we forgot to make reservation, we decided to give sushiraw a try. From the exterior/entrance, it has a nice ambience lighting. Unfortunately, the experience sort of going downhill from there. We were taken to our seats and handed the paper menus like a cheap takeout place which really didn't give me confidence of dining here but I figured we'll give it a try anyway. The menu has a lot of funny names rolls... and the lunch specials, dinner specials, another page of more specials(sorry I forgot my phone so there's no photo of it, but just like what I wrote, yes it's very confusing. Anyway, we got tempura, a "hush" roll, some sushi, couple rolls etc. They gave us a tiny sauce dish without saying anyway which we were a bit confused of what it's for, later found out that's how they give you to dip the tempura. If you ever order a tempura in your life, you know how the sauce is in a shallow bowl, so we had to ask for more than that one tiny sauce dish of the dip, and somehow they found a even smaller sauce dish... And in general, the fish was below average quality, the fish is firm in a odd way, somehow reminded me of candy corn which is the first time I ever had any fish like that, the Optus was extremely chewy that my cheeks got really sour when I'm done with it. The rolls... on top of the fact the fish were kinda off, the rice was mushy. If you know anything about sushi at all, you know the rice is the fundamental of a decent sushi! If you can't make the rice right, you really shouldn't be making sushi. The hush roll was ok, but the yuzu sauce tasted nothing like yuzu at all, not even any citrus flavor, just sour and sweet. Tbh I wasn't expecting anything superb but this was extremely disappointing. And the service was a total miss too. There were three servers and four tables, but they were really busy talking to each other in Korean, the whole time we had the server maybe came by once. I finished mine and my husband's water and waved at the server for some more water. He came by and and said "ok water, you want some desserts?" while we still have lots of food on the table and nowhere near done. And this was also the server when we asked him for more sauce and he gave us the "wait a minute" with some strange attitude and went to talk to someone. Not "sorry one moment" or "be right there", he said wait a minute with a diva attitude which we thought was so weird it's funny... It's quite an experience... but it's not one I would recommend if you are looking for good Japanese food with decent service. read more

Sushiraw has pretty good roll selections. My friend and I ordered three rolls and we probably should have stuck with two. The prices are reasonable for the portions that they serve. The parking lot is big so you shouldn't have much problem finding parking. The spaces are a bit compact but not too bad. This location is close to O.Tofu and is in the same plaza as the Regency theatres. The service can be slow at times but the waitress and waiters are always friendly. read more

Thought we'd try something new and was really impressed by the portions for the price. We ordered the 2 item combo with beef and chicken teriyaki. It came with miso soup, rice, and a side salad. My fiancé said the beef was good thanks to the awesome sauce. The chicken was spicy and used darker meat. The miso soup was light and perfectly seasoned. The salad had a sesame ginger dressing. I ordered the Vegetable Power Bento Box. It came with a large portion of tempura, agedashi tofu, vegetable rolls, rice, miso soup, and salad. It could have easily fed two people. Everytime tasted really fresh and light. The tempura was perfectly crispy and the sauce was flavorful. The rolls were very filling and had asparagus, cucumber, carrots, cabbage, lettuce, and pickled beets which was cool to see. Definitely will order again! read more

After a day of shopping, we decided to go to this restaurant where we were greeted by the hostess and lead to a table. I wanted something light, then ordered the avacado salad.when I received it the presentation was beatiful, sliced avacado, chopped lettuce, mixed greens, with string turnips were a delicious combo that was both light and satisfying. 3 vegetarians descended on Sushi Raw for our first experience there which was just fine. We had the crispy dumplings which were tasty, the mushroom ramen soup which had a very nice mushroom savory flavor to it, and veggie rolls, which tasted okay, but which were a little loosely rolled and hard to pick up without them falling apart. (The veggie roll also had lettuce in it which didn't seem necessary and probably affected the physical integrity of the roll.) I also had a glass of plum wine which was super sweet. The person who greeted us when we walked in wasn't particularly friendly on the Friday evening that we showed up, though we were seated fairly quickly and the serving staff took good care of us. In between then and now - I've been a few handful of times. But this evening I was disappointed. First off the Chefs special rolls between $22 and $25. I said to myself, since when do they think... never mind. I ordered a couple of salmon sushi nigiri, an albacore in and seared Albacore out roll aka coco roll, a garlic albacore hand roll and miso soup. My son had Philly Roll, two salmon hand rolls and an order of mackerel sushi. Dry. All my fish was dry. Like nothing was fresh. The hand roll was like a dry paste. Mushy ground up albacore not slices. Barely garlic. No dressing no ponzu nothing. My salmon sushi, dry. No wasabi no shine. No moisture. Bland. I think they gave us all their oldest sushi. Then the seared albacore roll. The sear was like it gave the albacore Rigamortus. You could see through the albacore- you know how chicken gets on the sides when old? Like that. The miso soup was okay needed a hair more salt. Sorry but for the money, I could have better. You must serve fresh wet fish, not fish that dried out in the refrigerator. I wished I took photos. The service was okay. When I asked for mustard sauce she said I don't think we have that but I'll ask. She brought me a tablespoon in a tiny tiny sauce ramekin. I guess she asked and they did have it. I asked her for the garlic hand roll, she said she didn't have any more. But let me ask. If they don't have do you want regular? I said no just the garlic one. Let me ask. I said no worries. I guess they have it we went back n forth with hand roll and cut roll. I opted for hand but she kept asking Cut roll? Hand. Cut regular? Hand garlic. Hand regular. No please make it hand roll not cut and garlic. What do you want to drink? Water please. Last call is 915pm I said no problem. I left my already charged and signed receipt. 18% tip I'm worried about getting sick from how dry the sushi was. And this review letting all know about that experience and taste and prices. I wasn't Wowed. Nor was I happy with the prices. I spent over 106.00 with tip. There are better more affordable places in the valley. I won't be coming here any more. After asking them why they would charge us for 6 people they responded with "if they sit on our chair then we charge" and so I asked what do I do with my kids if I wanted to dine here? O man - I love this spot. First time here and I ordered the 10 piece sushi lunch special with Spicy Tuna and Miso soup. It's a great deal considering I'd expect to pay more than 30$ for a plate like this. The fish was a good size with small rice. Spicy tuna has a nice kick without being too overpowering. This review is overall from serval visits. The first visit the service was extremely slow but the food was very tasty which is what got us to keep going back. We sat there for over 20 mins watching them make take out orders and not feed the people sitting there waiting. Everything was fine then. So the next time I ordered online and picked up my order which was ready after a really long wait time and I didn't mind since I knew my food was going to be great but it wasn't it was just okie. I always love to order Ikura which I did and I come home to 3 orders with mainly rice and the smallestttt layer of Ikura on top. I don't mind paying for my food if it's not all rice I was disappointed. You don't just add extra rice and hope people don't notice they're not getting what they deserve. Putting that aside, my family and I went to dine in since I thought our sushi might be better if we are there. And boy was I wrong! The service is good but not from our waiter from everyone else. Again I ordered the Ikura which I always do and it was a joke the portion of fish. I decided not to say anything just not to order that from there again since it's all rice! But what really made me want to write this review was our rolls! I had ordered a few rolls, the no rice rolls were great because they couldn't add pounds of rice to it. The rolls came out breaking apart, not fully cooked or prepared. It was very unfortunate that they just slap things together and put it in front of you to eat. The amount of sauce on my rolls were unreal!!! It made me think that this actually might be old sushi that they are trying to sell off and they just overload the sauce so no one knows. The sauce was so much that I couldn't even enjoy my food all I tasted was the overly sweet sauce which was all over the plate and you couldn't get around it. I had to tell our waitress and she just brushed it off I told her that's wrong to serve people dishes like this! If I wanted to eat rice and nasty sauce I wouldn't be spending over $100. Overall I know I made the decision not to support places like this and find better ones who actually take time and care in the food they prepare.
