Chinese food was good. We had the dumplings, Chinese pancakes, sweet sour eggplant, and pork with green peppers. Pancake was smaller than expected, but still good. Service was great and they even gave us free brown sugar jelly dessert to share. The decor was nice, but the seats need to be refurbished.

We went for an early dinner, got served right away and the staff is very attentive and friendly! The food was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations for sure. A really clean and nice sit down place and definitely affordable. Definitely coming back to try the whole menu! Oh and can I add... they packaged our leftovers for us!!

When kids speak, listen. The younger generation may not have been around the full block but they need to be heard. They have things to say and we can learn from them. Favorite niece and nephew by default definitely have a palate for spicy foods and they raved over SXY Szechuan (SS) to me for several months now but I passed. Duck blood, frog legs and large pigs intestines don't get my attention. Instead, I walk away. It's been some time since the family dined together and I was extended an invite where it was SS. I decided to keep an open mind and agreed to the venue selection. I reminded myself to "listen." Located on the 2nd level, Ewa side of Ala Moana Center, SS opened in January 2021. They offer Szechuan cuisine that will wake up your palate with hot chilies and numbing spices. I was the first to arrive and usually I study the menu but decided to trust the kiddos and allow them to take the lead. They've been here multiple times and spoke so highly about the restaurant where the food is better than Chengdu Taste, another restaurant where the kiddos also raved over. Until they tried SS. After the family bounced back and forth with what to order, we flagged down the waitress and nephew placed the food order. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived so it didn't take that long for our food to arrive. Here's a summary of what we had: Dan Dan Mian (4.5) We ordered 2 of these with different spice levels. I opted for the mild one and it was tasty with some heat. Well seasoned and great noodle texture. Solid. Griddle Frog Legs (5) I'm not a fan of frog legs but these were delicious. Flavorful and moist. Loved the wok hei in this dish. Accompanied by sliced potatoes, red onions and bell peppers sautéed with red chilies and minced garlic. Highly recommended. Griddle Spicy Shrimp (4) Another tasty dish that was prepared similar to the frog legs but has sliced lotus root instead of potatoes. However, I took off a point as the shrimp were considerably small - - disappointing but great flavors. Sweet and Sour Pork (1.5/5) The worst dish of the evening. Clearly the pork was cooked twice and reheated. It was hard in texture and not heated through. I'm generally a fan of sweet and sour but this version was underwhelming. Not recommended. Fried Lamb BBQ (4.5/5) I'm a fan of lamb and this overall was good. Tender and seasoned well. Not tough, no sinew nor cartilage. Tossed with garlic and spices. The only setback for me was the fact that too much baking soda was used where the dish lacked the lamb flavor. Hot Pot with Pig Blood (2/5) I was scarred previously by large pigs intestines and not a fan of blood cubes. Just not my thing. But my family immensely enjoyed this dish. I had the pleasure of watching them feast away. Also had book tripe, Spam slices and soybean sprouts. Fried Fish Fillet (5/5) This dish was indeed a family favorite. Fish deep fried to perfection - - nice golden brown and tossed with spices, minced garlic and sliced jalapeños. Absolutely delicious. Service was above average. Staff are trained well where they attended to our needs. Water cups were refilled and brought cups of ice as we requested. Had a few hiccups here and there but nothing major. Overall, a surprisingly great first experience where I'd be game for a return visit. This time I'd like to explore more of the menu, which includes dumplings and some veggie dishes. NOTE: Check your bill prior to paying. For our table of 6, we were automatically charged gratuity. You are also given the option to add more gratuity.

The food is OK but not as good as Taste Of Chengdu. The wings were crispy fried. The ribs were garlicky fried, the match stick fries was OK. The eggplant was deep-fried and tasty. The garlic fried rice was tasty. The cumin lamb was excellent and the Dan Mian noodles was disappointing. We took it to go, but they forgot to give me two orders of Dan Dan noodles. So doublecheck your orders.

First time eating here. My sister in law picked the place. Staffs are professional, helpful, and engaging. We ordered so much food because we wanted to tasted everything. No disappointment. Place is located 2nd level by Longs drugs, Zara. Really cute, clean ambiance with ample of seating. I absolutely love the depth of flavors and spices of ever dishes. Their fried rice was all our favorite. I also love their eggplant dish. You can taste the fresh vegetables on every dishes. Every dishes are carefully well prepared with no mediocre efforts. You can literally taste it. I will definitely come back here.

We came here while shopping at Ala Moana since my family is from sichuan and we were excited to taste it! Everything looked so good and we ordered a bunch of dishes. We got mild spicy level for all which was perfect for us. The price was affordable as well with large portions. All the employees speak Chinese which was perfect for my family. This place is definitely authentic sichuan food and my grandpa even said it reminded her of growing up in Sichuan and the food made her feel like she was back at home.

Came here on a whim at 830pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was half-full; there was one big group and a couple of smaller groups. We were seated very quickly and iced waters were brought without prompting. It was our first time, not too hungry, and have a picky teenager, so we ordered dishes he would eat: spicy fried chicken wings, stir fried bok choy, and pork wonton soup. The bok choy was served in like five minutes! And then pork wonton soup came not long after. It was insanely fast. Even though we probably didn't order the dishes they're known for, everything was good. The bok choy was light and perfectly crisp, the ten wontons were adequately seasoned and the broth was light and simple. The chicken wings were crispy outside and tender inside, def not re-fried. The server asked how spicy we wanted it; we said however it was supposed to be, which is medium. It wasn't spicy at all, unless you munched on the dried chili and garlic bits. Service was good enough for us in a family-style restaurant for a simple meal. We considered briefly adding another dish, and almost flagged a server down but we used the QR code instead. I'd be interested in trying their griddles and hotpot dishes next time. Solid 4.5 stars.

Today I got to try the Sliced Beef & Ox Trip in Chili Sauce and the taste was great. Also, the service was very friendly and helpful.

Very good food & tolerable spice level. Taste-wise would definitely come back for the pork dumplings & garlic pork slices. Minus a star for service because our waters were empty and it took quite a few attempts to get a refill.

Can't wait for this to open! Hope it's authentic!

Finally! I've been waiting and waiting to come back to SXY Szechuan ever since learning of new ownership, and that the new owner is the same as Spicy Pavillion that was in the Chinatown Cultural Plaza. Must be more authentic now, right? Yes, it is! And all the dishes match the photos on the menu too. Inside was clean, organized, and busier and livelier since the last visit. Prices are the usual shopping mall level, but good portions! We started with the Spicy Pigs Ear. These were very good! The ears were quite tender, and the flavors came through. The spice level was on the light side, but still acceptable (and understandable). Next was the stir-fried lotus root. A simple and tasty dish. Lotus root was crunchy, and nicely seasoned. Lastly was the Szechuan Flavored Hot Pot with Duck Blood. This was really good. A well-portioned hot pot with a good amount of duck blood, pork intestines, beef tripe, Chinese cabbage, and etc. We went with the "normal" spice and numb level, which was light for us. The flavor was more garlicky. Everything was still tasty and delicious. Overall, everything was good. All the flavors were there. Spice and numb level were toned down, which makes sense. Next time, we'll request for extra or authentic level of numb and spice. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back to try more things because everything looks good!

Clean and spacious dining room. I feel like I'm sitting in a neighborhood restaurant in Shenzhen where I lived for four years. Good can be ordered as mild or as spicy as you like. I recommend mild to medium if you are not familiar with northern Chinese cooking. deliciousness !!!! If you like vegetables; you have to try here. Every veggie dish is delicious with as much heat as you can handle ; and do many selections. I've tried most of them and I love them all. With all these seasonings and spices you will want a light sweet treat at the end of your meal. My preference is the fried mochi with a honey glaze. Tastes just like my late MIL's. Just enough to end your meal Service is very good.

We will have to try this place again but so far this has been the best Chinese food that we've found on island! And my aunt used to have Chinese cooks from China that worked in her restaurant so I'm very picky!

It was just us and one other party at first but they quickly become packed after we were seated. The water didn't have the same dish soap taste issue I had last time so that's an upside. We ordered: * Salt and Pepper Lamb: 7.6/10 This was flavorful and fried pretty well. It's seasoned very similarly to the fish dish I had the last time I was here. They seem to utilize curry powder in all of their "salt and pepper" dishes. My main gripe about this dish is that the CHUCKS of fat. Maybe that would be appealing to some but each lamb stick had like ~35% fat which is A LOT if you consider that there's already not much meat on each rack. * Broccoli and Seafood Stir Fry: 7.5/10 This was nothing exceptional, I feel that you can definitely get this at any Chinese restaurant. It was flavorful and the veggies and seafood was cooked well (not over or undercooked). * Orange Chicken: 7.5/10 Tastes exactly like panda express but with a slightly better frying method? However, the pieces of chicken was a lot less substantial (many random thin and small pieces) I would note that the dishes do take a while to be made and brought out. We honestly wanted to try the pan fried pork buns but the quantity was too much for us to justify ordering it for just the two of us (on top everything else). I think that may be the only thing I would come back to try. Since it is very close to my home that's another appeal but otherwise, I feel like most other Chinese spots are comparable.

I never dined in here, but I did order delivery twice in less than a week through doordash. Both…read moretimes the food came nicely packed, well organized, and hot. The first time I've ordered almost a week ago was the pork hash, garlic green beans, mabo tofu with noodles, rice noodle and dumplings, and a pork belly dish with rice (can't remember the name). My favorite has to be the rice noodle cake with dumplings. It had peanut sauce and even reheating it on the stove made it satisfying to eat as leftovers. Each dish had between 6-8 pork and shrimp dumplings. The portions are generous which is enough for two meals. The pork hash came in 3s with the hot mustard and shoyu. Again these were good as well and not as oily and greasy. The pork belly was stringy and the rice was meh. It tries way too hard to copy Tom Khem which is a Laos dish. My mom had the tofu dish and after a while she did mention that the noodles got mushy and had no flavor. Then again she had to take a blood test so she had to watch her salt intake. I also tried the tofu and it was soft and not overly salty. The second time I ordered which was today, I replaced the rice dish with the char siu noodle soup and it was so good. It was the right portion size and the hot broth that's separate from the contents help soften the noodles. I also ordered coconut pudding and even though I have yet to try it, my mom said it was really good so I'm looking forward to it. Edit: I have now tried the coconut pudding and it was a generous portion. A nice refreshing and cold treat especially since we are now in the summer season. There is just a hint of coconut flavor though and shredded coconut flakes don't exist but it's still worth eating as a dessert or a snack. On both orders, I've ordered garlic green beans and it was the best tasting garlicky green beans I have ever tried. Overall, this place does serve good food but I'll probably skip the rice dishes and focus more on the noodle dishes and their sides.

This place surprised me when I got the won ton mein to go. Huge won tons, and great amount of…read morenoodles, that were still crunchy like the traditional version. Add some chili and you are good to go! They have an assortment of Chinese dishes to try, and I can't wait to go back. Maybe braised beef next time!
