Decided to give Tamarack one more try as we've vacationed in LG for decades. Place used to be fantastic w/good food in decent portions for an ok price. Didn't mind paying a little more for good food. They even used to put a twisted orange slice on the plate because they cared. But for many years now, the owner is happy to rip off vacationers w/no conscience. I VOW THIS VISIT WAS THE LAST. 4 of us went to breakfast on Sunday: 2 waters, 1 juice, 1 hot tea. 2 omelets, the eggs/toast/home fries/bacon combo, and 1 order silver dollar pancakes. Nothing fancy. Let's start w/the eggs. There's NO WAY they use 2 jumbo eggs to make a pathetically small 2" x 3" pile of scrambled. Home fries were a small dry pile of teeny diced potatoes w/no onions or peppers. From frozen?? Average & rubbery omelets were not made w/4 eggs. They looked just like 2-egg omelets I make at home. And the 2 slices of toast they came with were so small & dry - almost no butter & tasted stale. No extra butter, no jams on the table. Owner should be embarrassed! All food was nearly cold at delivery & flavorless. And 5 flat silver dollar pancakes for $8!!? What the actual heck! Breakfast wasn't worth $88+. If you are in Lake George this is a must stop for breakfast. The Colossal Breakfast is delicious and more than filling! Choice of two pancakes or French toast, sausage or Canadian Bacon, two eggs cooked to your liking, and home fries. It's a hopping spot expect a little wait, ours was 10-15 minutes. Service was slow but I enjoyed the Adirondack atmosphere and breakfast was delicious! I believe they also sell their own syrup and French toast came with a cinnamon butter that added a unique twist. read more

Over the years this place just never gets better. The food is not seasoned and comes out cold. The corned beef hash is not good at all. Tastes like it comes out of a can. The sausage links are dry and overcooked. No more chances on this place. I've been coming to the lake for many years and every time I tried Flapjack Pete's it was awful. read more

We arrived on a Saturday morning and waited outside for about fifteen minutes for a table. Inside is all wood, log cabin style with hunting and boating memorabilia on the walls. We had coffee, scrambled eggs and strip steak with hashbrowns and toast. Everything was very good, the steak had a little too much salt on it, but it was cooked medium rare as requested. We asked for whole wheat toast but were given white toast. However, the toast was delicious and tasted homemade. The hashbrowns were excellent, thick pieces of dark browned potatoes. The waitress did not bring the requested Splenda stevia with the coffee for about five minutes later and we were waiting while coffee got cold. They only gave a small amount of half and half which had to be replenished and as the waitress had only come back to the table once, we had to ask another waitress to get it. I was not entirely happy with the somewhat neglectful service. There are some stairs to the entrance so not wheelchair accessible. read more

Old school Lake George breakfast vibes! I've been twice, and it's always been great service from waiters and nothing but sweet greetings and goodbyes at the door and counter. The staff work so hard and it shows, rarely having to wait for food or any questions we had. Food is good, and consistent each time. You know what you're getting. I took a chance on this place even though the reviews are mixed and I'm glad that I did. I had a mushroom omelette with home-fries. The omelette was perfect, just a tiny bit brown on the outside and very flavorful. Home fries were crispy on the outside and made on the grill, not out of a bag. I tried a slice of my wife's bacon and it was also excellent. My son had French toast which was also really good, it came with maple butter. Our server was on a summer work exchange from Romania, and I suspect that a lot of the service related reviews have to do with seasonal help. The food was very good. read more

Breakfast was phenom. We both had specials....I had the bagel with cream cheese and lox. It was chunks of lox. Bagel was soft and the cream cheese was light and whipped. It was awesome. Husband had Belgian waffles with walnuts and maple butter. Waffles were so light but crisp, walnuts were candied. To top it off.....fresh real maple syrup. Definitely come again! read more

I don't like leaving one star reviews, especially since people tend to assume it was because I was an irate customer. This isn't the case. Their service was fine, the people were nice, great all around. Except the food. It was not good at all. I ordered a western omelette. First, an omelette, by definition, has cheese. This one didn't. A western omelette is ham and fresh veggies, but the onions were braised. The egg was flavorless, and they didn't use any seasoning at all. Yes flapjack petes, we were looking for someplace to have breakfast but we didn't want to drive and this was within walking distance, the ambiance is nice with big wooden tables, we were seated within 15 min on a Sunday around noon, the service was prompt. We walked here for Breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. I think our waitress was Tina and she was very good. She was attentive and accurate with our orders. There were 4 of us in the party and we all felt the same way. She volunteered for one of us to take home the uneaten fruit salad. First time eating here but it was a pleasure. This a family owned business and Sophie was our waitress and she was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy her family business. My Wife's says she thinks these were the best homefries she has ever had and I enjoy food that is seasoned and need no doctoring. AKA: FLAPJACK PETE'S Stopped in for breakfast on my birthday and oh what a breakfast it was... I have to say I totally loved this place!! It was just like a big log cabin. Nice & cozy! You can basically roll outta bed (if you're staying at Motel Montreal) & right into the restaurant. It's that close. The service was pretty decent & the waitress very nice. (Note: It was a Monday morning & not too busy). I ended up ordering the Bagel Sandwich consisting of 2 eggs over medium with bacon & cheese. OMG... it was SO good! And the coffee was outta this world! I was trying for a third cup but was too full from breakfast. My boyfriend got the Colossal breakfast & enjoyed it a whole lot as well. He especially loved the bacon! It was a nice thick cut. Also, I sampled his French Toast with the cinammon butter. Just the memory has me near droolin'... Sadly I have to change my review after our visit this summer. We come every year and look forward to tamarack's french toast & omelets. This year the hostess's daughter was our waitress. Super cute girl, we watched her grow up but they gave her way more tables than she could handle as a new waitress. You know it is going to be a bad meal when I'm sorry is repeated to every table she serves.. It was busy but we were seated right away. Took 3o minutes for our coffee. The food arrived in about 50 minutes, and my favorite French toast was hard as a rock. I sent it back and ate one of my daughters ice cold silver dollar pancakes. Said " I dont want to wait another hour so just take it off the bill" Thiss & Georges being closed really bummed me out this year :( My advice is to retrain your new staff and get a new chef. We were given a choice of one. I thought I didn't read it right or maybe we ordered off the dinner menu so the price would be cheaper because we didn't get both. Not the case. I read it right. $15 for a white bread size Reuben and 1/3 cup of slaw. The slaw was terrible. The Reuben average with not much meat. The club was big with a lot of turkey. This was one of the best breakfast I've had anywhere let alone in a seasonal tourist town. The food was great, quickly served and fairly priced. My friend and I were treated extremely well by Sophie. Even after she worked a double and went for a run that morning she was attentive and makes a mean corn muffin. Literally she made it and served it to me that day not just some boxed she was even nice enough to give my friend some fresh fruit. Had a lovely breakfast here with my family. Everyone enjoyed their meals (omelettes & waffles). I personally had the BEST lox bagel of my life. We came here on a recent trip to Lake George with vouchers(part of the package from Surfside on the Lake). It was by far the best restaurant we went to during our visit to the lake. Usually with vouchers, they do not offer you drinks(soda , coffee) or dessert, but this place did. My daughter had the shrimp scampi(and the shrimp were very large) and I had the pot roast. Both meals were delicious and served by a very friendly waitress. We then had rice pudding for dessert, and that was tasty as well. It wasn't crowded, It was dirty as hell, I sent 2 forks and a coffee cup back for being filthy, and there is little to no care about any food coming out from the kitchen. Well, we ate here on a Saturday night at 8 PM and it was empty. There was a reason why as i doubt most people would go back. Waitress was very nice. Appetizers took about 18 minutes to arrive. We only ordered calamari and fried zucchini. Calamari tasted and looked like the chicken you get from white castle and zucchini was Costco's worst. Dinner arrived at 8:43, 45 minutes after we ordered. Remember, the restaurant was fairly empty. They brought out 6 entrees and my chipotle chicken sandwich was still being made. My daughters french fries were cold and i notified the waitress. A few minutes later and still awaiting my chicken and my daughters fries i was told it wasn't ready yet. When it dis come out my fries were hot but told they ran out of fries but offered potatoes as substitute (ok, fine). Hamburgers, Chipotle chicken were actually pretty good but i 'd never go back and we've been coming here every year for last 26 years. read more

We showed up at a pretty busy hour of the morning and were greeted with a shorter wait than anticipated. We were seated and there were no placemats at our table. It took a solid 5 minutes for anyone to approach us, and then an additional 5 minutes for the waitress to hand us some coffee. I ordered the stuffed French toast, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. I decided to use the bathroom while in the restaurant -- I have seen gas stations with cleaner restrooms. The smell of that bathroom was honestly unlike anything I've ever experienced. We couldn't even use it. As I said before, the food took 20 minutes to arrive at our table, which was surprising considering the fact that I was handed a microwaved plate. The plate was scalding not to the point where I could barely hold it, and the food tasted microwaved. The French toast was more like hot bread smothered in raspberry syrup. Neither myself nor my friend finished our meal. My other friend had the pancakes which were not microwaved and quite tasty. I would not return. read more

We've never had a meal we didnt like- we usually go for breakfast, but have had tasty lunches & dinners as well. Friendly regular staff, great eats. Large portions.
