My wife found this place on our most recent visit to Paso Robles - Good eyes! We dropped in on a Tuesday night - we came in after a group of 6 were seated, and were seated within a few minutes. The place was really busy. I could see several flat screen TVs over the bar playing the World Cup, and the bar was slammed. We dithered over the menu - they provided a drink menu and a food menu. I ended up ordering a Trio - which was comprised of a Spicy Tuna sandwich, a Baja Burger (which was also spicy) and their Garlic Fries, which were served with a dish of a very spicy garlic aioli sauce that my wife and I shared. My wife ordered a Duo with a Vacation Mode sandwich which featured pesto chicken, hummus, olive tappanade, and garlic aioli. She really liked her sandwich. She paired that (Duo you get 2) with a California Cowboy Cobb salad, which as you can see in the photos, was quite large. The food was served hot and fresh - the fries were very nice shoestring type, and were cooked properly. I have had "spicy" Tuna sandwiches before - this was the first one which was really spicy - it was perfect. A nice slab of seared tuna as well. The burger was just plain good. They call the burgers "sliders" because they are around 3 inches in diameter. If you have a larger appetite, figure it out. The drinks were good - I ordered the Old Fashioned (if you don't know what that is, try one) and my wife ordered the more exotic Beauty School Dropout, which had Crowbar Pink Gin, Elderflower liquer, lavender and honey syrup, lemon AND lime juice which was served in a chilled cut glass coup glass. Yes, I know I used "glass twice". It was very tangy and refreshing. The place has large doors which were open with seating both inside and outside. There were larger tables for larger groups. Take a minute to go over the menu, or you might miss the slider of your dreams.

This restaurant is such a fun concept and allows for many mixed match plates. I go the vaquero slider and spring chicken slider with the French Brussels. All was delicious but I realized it was far too much food for me. Our waitress was great, I loved the cozy feeling of the interior. Great dinner.

Nice variety of combinations. Fits all sizes of appetites. Drinks and service were satisfying! Open air dining. Beautiful day!

This very unique place is a must visit in downtown Paso Robles. The food is delightful, the menu style is unique because you can choose small bites in various combinations. So much amazing and delicious variety! Service was stellar and food tasted superb. Appeared on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives... Lives up to the hype!

We recently discovered Taste Craft Eatery while we were walking around Paso Robles for a fast and convenient place to eat while we were staying in the area. We wanted a place that had some wine and beer and a nice selection of food and Taste seemed to fit our needs perfectly. We didn't have any reservations so we were prepared to wait but we lucked out and were seated immediately out on the patio under a heat lamp. SCORE! Although it was chilly out, the heat lamp was just warm enough to be outside on the patio. It was a great spot to see all the foot traffic and all the holiday lights on display at the adjacent park. We had a wonderful server (unfortunately, I can't remember her name) who explained how we could best sample the Taste experience. We got a quartet of: California cowboy Cobb salad, super power spin salad, gouda burger and a blue bird chicken sandwich plus an order of truffled up fries with a few glasses of Paso Robles wines. Everything was just delicious and the portion sizes were just right so we didn't quite overeat. The restaurant was busy with all of the tables getting turned over with great efficiency. The outdoor patio was filled with joy as we observed families and friends exchanging tales of the weather and their journeys to Paso Robles. We truly enjoyed our first Taste experience and look forward to returning to Paso Robles for another adventure! I hope more people come in to experience all that Taste has to offer!

Poor attempt at photo eating :) some of the mushroom flatbread and fries, along with teen munching on sliders

We stopped here to get a quick taste of Paso Robles on our way back to the SF Bay Area from SLO. It's situated in the nice square with a charming playground and walking area. Honestly, I came to charge my car at the nearby supercharger. We were lucky though, as this area has a fair amount of traffic at lunch. Getting to the actual craft eatery, we were seated quickly on a Tuesday near lunchtime. Our waiter was polite and patient and even offered to explain their menus. They typically have many slider types that you can choose from in groupings or 1-4 (or more, I'm sure!). We had a hungry teen with us who got 3 of his own. I split a duo with my spouse and got some supplementary appetizers (mushroom flatbread and fries). I found their fare pretty tasty! My slider was the lamb burger which had a nice spice zing to it. It was a little too zingy for my teen though. He still was fine with his other sliders. My spouse had the steak ish burger which was also delicious, if not a bit harder to bite into versus a burger. The apps were also great and filling. Supplemented by a glass of wine, I'd say it was a fantastic outing for us. A nice option for those in the area in my book!

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, sat at the bar. Great ambience and beautiful interior, food came out fast and was actually a decent portion for sliders (I eat a lot and I was full after). Have to say, the Cubano and Gouda were ridiculously great, the blue cheese was good as well but the other two were culinary masterpieces - never had any sliders that amazing before. No complaints, and heard a couple people sitting nearby saying they specifically come here whenever they're in town so it seems to be a crowd favorite and for good reason.

Came with a large group and had a slightly private section at the very back of the restaurant. Service was good! I do think some dishes are better than others. Some of our group got the Macs and complained that it was watery on the bottom. I opted for the trio and got three different sliders. They aren't terribly big, so you can probably eat multiple if you're hungry. I do wish the sliders came with a different bread like something toasted or buttered. The bread it comes with is very plain. I had the dirty bird, tip o Argentina, and a third one that I forgot the name of. The dirty bird had a grilled chipotle chicken, which was fairly good but I wouldn't order it again. I would say the standout burger is definitely the tip o Argentina - really good chimichurri and aoli and the steak was soft. Paired with the sweet potato fries or other fries, and it was a great combination.

Located in the Park Square is Taste. This modern restaurant is very nice, clean, and modern. The service was kind of lacking. There wasn't many people in there, but to even get our waitress it took like 10 mins. Then everything after took awhile and wasn't even asked if I'd like more lemonade. The food was good, but let's be honest, the portions and price don't match, especially when not being served organic food. The chicken on both my sliders were dry. Everything had good flavor though. Ambiance and location are better than a 3, but everything else was a 3 or 2.

This is my second time at Taste. The first time was at the SLO location when it first opened. Prices were more reasonable then. I got a slider and fries for $18. I can get a whole burger for close to this, if not, this price. My burger was good and the fries were good. Service was okay. Our server was never around when we needed her and the place was not busy. It's a cute restaurant in a great location, but it's not worth the money. Unfortunately, I won't be back.

We came on a Saturday night around 7:30, and there was about a 40-minute wait for indoor seating. However, there were plenty of outdoor seating options available, all equipped with heat lamps. We ordered the quartet, which allowed us to choose four items. We selected the savory sprouts (roasted Brussels sprouts), the mac and cheese made with cheddar cheese and topped with broccoli, the earth patty, and the grilled veggie with sweet potato fries, which came with a chipotle sauce. The fries and the Brussels sprouts were my favorites! We also ordered the flourless chocolate torte for dessert, which was super rich and delicious. I would say the price was a bit high, considering the portions were very small. However, I think the restaurant is still worth a try!

Located in the downtown, near the park, and there were roadside and near restaurant parking. On Friday afternoon, walked in around 3pm ( just in time for happy hour). Five steps up and towards the main dinning area, clean and modern design. There is bar towards end and on the left side, there are some outdoor patio seating area. When we walked in, there are ten tables occupied. By 4:30ish, 70% seating occupied. Really like the mini Duo -$17 , Trio-$22 and Quartet- $32 options. You can pick and combine from sliders, Mac, sandwiches, salads and sides. They are all very small portions except the generous fry portion. The service is ok, took about 15 mins to take out order And the food serving time is descent. Atmosphere, menu idea and service 4 stars, food 3 stars, the veggie slider was dry and no flavor, and the slider bread is mini pita--- dry dry and very dry. Place good for friends and family .

So the website says Brunch, but there are no actual brunch items on the menu. Are there breakfast items made available? The thought of fries, fish, and pulled pork after an evening in wine country does not sounds appealing.

6 Star Alert. 6 star Alert. 6 star Alert. 6 star Alert…read more SIX STAR ALERT. SIX STAR ALERT. That right people, I said it.... And 6 times to be exact! Because let me tell you, the Spice of Life in Downtown Paso Robles not only deserves those 6 stars, but they truly EARNED each & every star (plus a bonus star) that I am awarding them for their exceptional hospitality. Now, let me tell you why! While in Paso for my wife's weekend birthday getaway, we had such fun time casually strolling the streets with no where to be. While window shopping, going in and out of the various shops, and just meandering through the downtown area.... We suddenly came across a little business called: The Spice of Life From the outside, it was pretty obvious what we were about to get into... ----Spices----Herbs----Teas---- Hey, they had me at Spices, but the rest is what kept me from leaving there anytime soon. Upon entering this quaint little shop, we were immediately immersed into a world that I Love. Spices, Spices and more Spices!!! Yeah, I'm that guy that at home, not in public of course, that will put a little spice on my hand and lick it off (to test it of course). I know, but I'm just a spice freak, what can I say! Yeah, give me a good lemon pepper, a blended steak seasoning or even a Kansas City Bbq Rub and I'll gladly give it the "Lance Lick of Approval". Yeah, I'm a Spice Man, & I'm not afraid to admit it. And let me tell you, this place has got spices!! Yeah, there are Jars and Jars, & more Jars of the finest, most incredible spices you can dream of. But on Top of the Spices... There are Oils, Vinegars, Teas, Tea Accessories, Herbal Supplements, Books, and More! And with all that shopping... Why not grab a quick bite alongside a freshly brewed coffee or tea at their mini cafe right on the premises. Heck, we did! (We had the Vanilla Chai Tea Latte) And it was Fire! So what makes this place earn a well deserved 6 star review?? It wasn't just their great product. Or even their beautifully prepared drink. It was their hospitality, their graciousness, and the human connection that we felt that went above the typical customer vs. retailer interaction. The lady who assisted us (forgive me but I forget her name) but she might have been maybe the owner or maybe even manager of the place was so kind, helpful and made our experience exceptional, so thank you for that! With so many great gift ideas and things that we needed for our own household, you know we did some damage and got a few things to take back home. So.... If you are a fan of spices like me, love yourself some tea, are looking for some unique, fun gift ideas or just want to enjoy a nice, quaint shop where the service hopefully exceeds your expectations like it did for me... Then take my highly recommended suggestion and get over to the... Spice of Life in Downtown Paso Robles ASAP!!!

She was handling tables inside and outside but keep in mind when it gets busy you may wait a bit longer for things. I ordered "The Steak" which is a hangar steak with a compound butter on top and Brussels sprouts on the side, I subbed potatoes for coleslaw. The steak was cooked nicely and had a great crust on the outside, very flavorful with just the right amount of saltiness. The Brussels were some of the best I've had even though they were so simple. I ate every last one! The slaw was ok but not a ton of flavor, it was pretty light on the sauce. We also got an order of bacon wrapped jalapeños with cilantro ranch. They were so good! November 2025 Since…read moreI gave such a stellar review of the Bacon Crusted Burger at Street Side Ale House, I must update the comments since people do go to restaurants based on other's reviews. And I am so embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to dozens of people. We raved to our friends about this place and this burger in particular. So, when we traveled with them to Paso Robles this week, we took them there on Thursday night. We passed on having the Wagyu 8 oz. burger and fries at In Bloom (Michelin listed) the night before in anticipation of this burger. Service was abysmal. We sat for quite some time with no service. My wife went in and asked where our server was? Finally, a woman showed up and said our waiter would be with us shortly. Sometime later, a friendly waiter arrived. He was obviously new, under-trained, and spread too thin. He was very personable, but our drinks sat on the bar for a long time and my wife had to go in and ask if she could take then. "No, the waiter will bring them out." Meanwhile, our friends were sipping on their drinks. We got our appetizers and then ordered our meals. The food came quickly, maybe too quickly, and I noticed no egg yolk oozing out (it was halved for us in the kitchen) and the burger overall was much thinner than the last time and the arugula was so wet under the patty. So, we ate a couple bites of it and it just did not taste right. I opened it up to find a baked or boiled grey patty with no crispy bacon wrapping. The bacon was soft, I mean boiled soft and was a small lump on top of the burger patty, not even close to crispy. More like a damp towel. The avocado was sliced but not spread out, so stuck on the left side. The egg was hard cooked with a solid yolk. No pepper to be found. I showed the waiter who was stunned. He thought we were kidding. The manger came out, looked at it, asked what we wanted to do. I was a bit surprised given the wreck that this burger was and said I don't know, what do you want to do? He said the chef wasn't there but took the plate back to the kitchen. He came back and said the chef (wait, he wasn't there) was surprised and said it was not right. The chef (if he was there) should have headed straight out to us and apologized. So, the manager took the burger off the bill but left the same horrible burger ($22) on our friend's bill. I should not have to tell a manager how to fix such a mess and disaster of a meal and service. I hope they fix their kitchen, whoever is checking food at the pass, and the service or they will be another casualty to the restaurant business in Paso. Sorry I had to write this as I rarely post negative reviews in order to not hurt a business and their employees.

It's definitely nothing fancy, which is exactly the way we like it. There's plenty of parking and the young lady taking our order was incredibly friendly. We split the BLTA along with some salt and vinegar chips. The sandwich was delicious! Nothing special but everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the bacon was delicious as was the soft tender bread that it was made on. 10 out of 10 for us we would definitely be back. There is no indoor seating just outdoor patio seating which was ample and on hot days it has fans to cool you down. Looking forward to our next visit. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the sandwich so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Road tripping and in Paso Robles, CA…read more We wanted breakfast. So we did some internet sleuthing and saw the Red Scooter Deli. So off we went. We ended up at the Red Scoot location on 6th. They have two locations which we found out later. Initially we were headed to the one in downtown. This location on 6th Street is in a retail suburban type of shopping plaza. Plenty of parking. This location has no indoor seating, it's all outdoor patio which is covered. Basic patio, not alot of character or ambiance. But so much potential. As I was sitting enjoying my food; I noticed a lot of folks taking their orders to go and many picking up catering. It's counter service and not particularly roomy inside with folks standing in line and others moving about can get crowded. We ordered a plain toasted bagel with roasted red pepper schmear. They are generous with the spread. Nice! Lactose intolerant me just popped a pill and indulged. And we also ordered a breakfast sandwich on croissant with bacon. Yum. That croissant wasn't flimsy but also not too dense either. The sandwich was picture prefect. Next time I'm in Paso, I'll give their downtown locale a go.
