I really enjoy going to Temple to do work. The Temple on H street is my favorite. They have a small parking lot that fits about 7ish cars. It's usually full, but there is street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding. There is plenty of indoor seating because of the giant "family-style" table in the center with plenty of chairs. There are small booths that line the wall, but those are quick to fill up. There is also seating at stools along the window. There is a lot of outdoor seating as well. I was happy to find that the WiFi reached all the way out there. The WiFi was easy to sign into and did not need a password. In my experience, the baristas are very friendly here when I've asked questions about the menu. They now sell gelato at this Temple. I was happy about that because I like to stay away from caffeine. For flavors, they had pumpkin, vegan Biscoff, vanilla, and lemon honey lavender. I got the lemon honey lavender and it was delicious! Super creamy and a perfect ratio of lavender and lemon. However, it was quite expensive ($6) for 1 scoop. It was tasty, but not worth $6 for the amount in my opinion. Love coming here and will continue to do so. read more

Nestled in a sleepy neighborhood, it has all the advantages the crowded downtown locations don't have. I promised to write an update post full-on COVID restrictions. While we aren't quite there yet, I can finally sit on the patio and soak in what I like most about this spot, which is it's spaciousness, it's ease of access and the friendly folks behind the counter. VEGAN OPTIONS - Yes. Temple is my go-to spot for a cappuccino and other espresso based beverages in the Sacramento area. They have a good selection of alternative milks (Almond, Oat & Soy), the Dharma blend beans make a delicious espresso, and the drinks are consistently well made. The seasonal drinks are great - I've especially been enjoying the Ginger Snap Latte, but the Mocha is a standard that always tastes delicious. I've purchased the Dharma beans whole to grind and brew at home (Moka pot style), and they perform very well in a home environment - although they obviously shine best when brewed through a professional grade machine. Temple is one of my favorite coffee purveyors and I was thrilled when I saw construction of the new space in East Sac. When they opened I couldn't wait to grab a latte and sit to enjoy their coffee and pastries. Then COVID hit. I'm grateful they respected the health of their community and followed best health practices without hesitation. They provide individually packed masks (so NO excuses for patrons) and hand sanitizer at entry and sanitizer at checkout. The staff wear masks and are always so friendly, even while dealing with the stress of a new business and county restrictions. Their outdoor area is lovely and allows for distance while having your coffee. The inside is beautiful and relaxing and I can't wait to use it when being indoors is safe. This review is about the ambiance, rather than the food or the service. The coffee was as good as I expected for ca. $6 a cup. The service was also en par with most fancy coffee shops of this kind. No complaints there. The tables and chairs were the problem. We were in town, from the Bay Area, and took some extra time to see an old friend of ours, whom we hadn't seen in a long time. Temple had come highly recommended, so we went to coffee with him there. There's one big, long table, inside, as well as smaller tables. The big table is way too high compared to the chairs. Sitting down, the table was shoulder height for me. I had to reach up to get my coffee, and I'm not particularly short. The only alternative seating was these little wooden stools, but I have a back condition, and I need a back to my chair, and stools were very uncomfortable. We went outside to look for alternate seating, since it was crowded inside, only to find another table that was too high for the chairs. Finally, a party left, and we were able to grab their table, which was more of a standard table/chair setup I had expected to find. Don't get me wrong, the tables, chairs and stools were all beautiful to look at. They had the look and feel of being hand-crafted by carpenters in a quaint village long ago, or something. But function should go together with form. If a place is going to charge $6 for coffee, I think they need more than just good service, good coffee, and tables and chairs that are nice to look at. They should have places to sit down that are comfortable. If they had that, I wouldn't hesitate to give bump my rating up to 4, at least. read more

I love the Temple locations and decided to try this one out for a change. The parking is pretty limited so when it's crowded you have to park on the street. The interior is nice and clean and of course the staff is really friendly! I like how they have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi did not work for me or my friend while we were sitting outside, so we had to leave and do our work elsewhere. read more

Love going to this Temple location to study or have a casual catch up session with a friend. It's spacious indoors and there's plenty of seating and outlets at each end of the room. There's also a nice outdoor seating area. A big positive to coming here instead of the other locations is parking. Even with a small lot in front of the shop, there's plenty of parking in the residing neighborhoods. I've tried their drip coffee, lattes, and teas and enjoyed them all. They sell a variety of coffee blends to go, accessories, and merch too. My main gripe is that it is very pricey here for a drink (~$6-7, and that may not even include add ons or substitutions). It may be more worth it to just brew your bag of coffee at home that you get here. I think the ambience and environment is what keeps me coming back. I love the other Temple Coffee places in Sac and stumbled upon this via a Meet Up Group (Shut Up and Write!). Check them out. Well, this is a gem of a place! Big, quiet, well-lit seating area, far from the bustle and noise of the front counter barista/cashier area. I easily found a table and the eclectic and attractive people that frequent the place is inviting. The coffee selections, of course, are great and worth any price and don't even get me started about their amazing zucchini muffin-OMG, amazing. Only problem: both times I've been there it was warm and inviting inside, but it got cold in the place after a while (had to put my coat on). I think I found the issue. Leaving today I found that the employees had opened the front door as well as the back door (kitchen/office area). Now, although I have great empathy for the employees, the customers' comfort comes first. Close the damn doors and get a fan or something. Nobody should have to wear their coat inside. The other suggestion I have is that they have an impressive back patio area; however, only a small portion has a canopy (seemingly temporary one). There is plenty of room to make the entire patio area awesome. Put a canopy over the entire area--at least during the winter for heat and rain, but maybe also the summer for the hot sun. Also, the patio would really benefit from propane heaters, ideally overhead as well as the stand-alone ones. Such small changes would really enhance the place. Nonetheless, I'm thank you for an amazing refuge for those of us who want to get out of the house, be with like-minded people, in a comfortable setting sipping coffee (or tea). read more

I stopped by this location after visiting another business in the area. This location is really spacious, and the staff are also friendly, as with other Temple locations. I ordered a Bliss which is their peppermint tea sweetened with soy milk, coconut milk, and honey. I'd usually opt for their Enlightenment which is a jasmine tea base, but decided to try something new. I was pleasantly surprised about the Bliss. First of all, I expected it to be iced for some reason without specifying, and it came out warm, which is fine...so if you're set on iced, make sure you specify! They offered two cups for me and my friend to share and it came out in a tea pot. They told us to let it steep for at least 5 minutes before drinking. Second, I am not a fan of minty tasting teas generally, because they remind me of toothpaste. This tea was not too minty at all! It tasted refreshing and was almost calming like chamomile. Combine that vibe with the vibes of this shop, it was heavenly! The drink overall was not too sweet, and I would definitely get it again. Overall, plenty of seating indoors and outdoors...especially outdoors, since they are still distancing indoors. You are not required to have your mask on at all in the shop, although they provide masks in ziplock bags at the door and hand sanitizer for your convenience. Staff are wearing masks. I did not know about this temple location until pretty recently. I love how spacious and how many seats this coffee shop has. The customer service here alone is 5/5. Temple is a Sacramento staple. What is not to love? This new location in East Sac has everything you know and love about Temple coupled with a great layout and lovely ambiance. Due to COVID, I have opted to not stay and enjoy my beverage in-house. However, the layout is conducive to both studying/working and hanging out with friends. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, both of which are very spacious. The staff here is friendly and helpful, always greeting us with an upbeat mood and happy to answer any of my questions. I tend to gravitate toward the pour over coffees, which never disappoint. They also have their typical selection of baked goods, similar to their other locations. Their safety standards are high. They ensure social distancing and require everyone to wear a mask. The last time we went they even had masks and hand sanitizer available for those who came unprepared. They all wear their masks properly and still deliver high quality service. If you are in East Sac looking for a quality coffee shop, you cannot go wrong with this Temple location. I had the pleasure of visiting Temple Coffee Roasters on a chilly Saturday morning recently. The East Sacramento location was perfect for me because I could walk the 2 short blocks, but it's convenient regardless given it's H Street corner location. I had the Ginger Snap Latte and a pumpkin muffin. I'll admit I went a bit heavy in the seasonal offerings, but I was embracing the chill in the air! :) The latte was delicious and tasted exactly like its namesake. It was like a cookie in liquid form. My pumpkin muffin was wonderful, too. All the pumpkin-centric flavors we present. It was moist but not overly sweet or dense. The perfect accompaniment to my latte. The staff was really friendly, but not quick to welcome us in. Once we ordered they seemed to warm up, but they didn't add to the experience. I live in the Bay Area and know pricy, but I thought $28 for 2 lattes, a muffin and a scone was a bit much. read more

I've been a fan of temple coffee for so long and to see a new location open up, I had to go by and check it out. It's a bit hard to notice when driving and you might drive past it. It was also nice to see there was an outdoor seating area to enjoy your coffee. Going in, this is probably one of the spacious Temple locations. I can't wait to be in here when it's safe and enjoy the indoor seating. I ended up getting a matcha latte and it was done so well, the matcha is prepared well and also was caffeinating.
