We tried this place for the first time & ordered in restaurant for take-out. We got our order in probably about 10 minutes, overall reasonable. We ordered two Steak Teriyaki bowls, a Crab Rangoon, and pot stickers. Both appetizers were fine although the Rangoon was a bit under-stuffed for my taste. Digging into our entrees, we had a huge problem. The "steak" reminded me of reconstituted beef chew that had been pressed together. I can't even say what cut it is or fat content, but I couldn't eat it. As per the rest of the bowl, the rice was cooked well and the veggies were shockingly fresh. I had higher hopes that the steak would have been any kind of recognizable cuts though, or at least been to ground beef standards. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember, and is always packed any time I go which is definitely a good sign if you ask me. Staff is always friendly and the business is family owned which I really like. Portions are huge and the flavors are out of this world. Spoke with the owner and all of the sauces are home-made with their own family recipes - from the nice, thick teriyaki sauce from scratch (not that simple sugar and soy sauce you usually see) to the marinated beef, chicken and pork. I also LOVE the pickled cucumber salad - it's a lot different than the generic salads you usually get at teriyaki places and I actually get cravings for it. Read some other reviews on here and some say the cucumber salad smells like pine-sol. Seems like some people may need to revisit what vinegar smells like, because I'm pretty sure that's an ingredient in what they use to pickle the cucumbers. Ordered via UberEats and wow... really disappointing. The garlic shrimp teriyaki was totally missing the teriyaki sauce! Just the two skewers of shrimp over rice, a little side of sliced cucumber, and two mini containers with about a spoon of garlic sauce in each. Also the yakisoba was a flavorless mix of noodles with some vegetables (no picked ginger or anything else adding a tasty punch). So annoyed with this meal. read more

The spicy chicken is addictive. I literally cannot drive or walk past this place without stopping in. I've also tried the Bi Bim Bap and Udon, which are great. Good things: The staff is nice. You get a lot of meat for your money. Bad things: The food is horrible. When my work got hungry for some food on Saturday, we decided to order from here because Moli Bento was closed - where we normally order our teriyaki from. Upon getting our containers, I was so disappointed. Lots of chicken, for sure, but the sauce was light honey colored. I've never had teriyaki sauce be so lightly colored. When i actually ate some of it, it was not good, almost like the soy sauce wasn't added. The rice was just not good either. As for the cucumber salad (which i was happy to see at first) it just tasted like cut up cucumbers. When I saw what another person ordered - the tofu and veggies, I almost started laughing. Did they just slice some tofu up from the container and then microwave it for a few seconds? It looked so horrible. From what I heard, it was tasteless. One of my bosses called it "Teriyaki Sadness". Amazing Asian cuisine! Lots of choices listed as a Teriyaki place but more similar to fusion. Friendly, crazy fast, clean and insanely tasty! Decent price especially for large size and incomparable protein portion. Over 20 plus take out and eat in orders within 10 minutes or watching while we ate. Not bad teriyaki, but certainly not my favorite spot in the city. I do like that they have brown rice. They also offer many other asian choices which makes me want to come back from kung pow chicken or some other favorite when im not in the mood for chicken teriyaki, my standby. This place looks like they grill there meat, but im not sure if its done to order. I see grill marks, but I dont get that grill cruch on the outside, now do I get the crispy edges like I do at my favorite teriyaki place on Pike by the QFC. Oh and the wall of mirrors is a little freaky. Soooo 70's. Why not just deck it out with a disco ball and make the tile floor lighted. If im starving, walking on 15th, and craving teriyaki I would think about coming back here. They close at 9pm M-Sat so be careful if you want to eat late, go elsewhere. read more

Teriyaki Madness has spoiled me. I can't eat teriyaki anywhere else now! Super small location, with only a few tables so get it to-go/phone ahead. Almost always busy, with a line out the door, which I think is a great sign. I tend to be a picky teriyaki eater, so I only order the chicken breast meal. It's always cooked perfectly with a HUGE portion of rice. Cucumber salad is alright. I really like their sweet teriyaki sauce. I see a few complaints here on yelp, but it's one of my favorite things about the place. They also don't drizzle your meat with it (like some restaurants do), they give you two sides to do it yourself. Boyfriend gets the spicy chicken and it's *really* spicy and good. When I go to Teriyaki, I generally stick to their name sake. They do have other choices of the Chinese style menu, which I cannot comment on since I wouldn't go here for that. I almost always get their #2 house special - All Teriyaki, no salad or veggies. This place does Teriyaki right. Very good crisp to the chicken. Great sauce, thick but not too sweet. I love pouring the sauce along with Sriracha on it. I take it to-go since my office is across the street. Restaurant wise, its not very big, kinda sticky tables. Last night we ordered teriyaki and General Tso chicken from Teriyaki Madness on 15th Avenue. The people who run the place are very, very nice, but I would caution you regarding their teriyaki. If you are looking for a teriyaki with a very, very, very sweet viscous sauce, this is the place for you. The chicken underneath the sauce was grilled, smoky, and tender, but the sauce ruined my appreciation. The General Tso chicken has a very heaving breading, more sweet sauce with only a slight hint of heat, and the coating soaked up an incredible amount of oil in the deep frying process. read more

The Capitol Hill Teriyaki hunt continues ... I turn up at Teriyaki Madness at about 11:40 thinking, "Goody, I'll just squeeze in before the lunch rush". Wrong! Maybe Group Health let's everyone get their lunch at 11:30 ... it was packed! TM is a typical teriyaki joint. Basic, no-frills with about 3 4-tops, 2 2-tops and seating for 3 at the window. The menu gave me pause for a moment. Either they are connected somehow to Teriyaki & Wok or they use the same sign maker. It looks the same and the items are similar if not identical. Huh. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and gyoza which came with a cucumber salad and white rice. The cashier was pleasant and my food was ready in about 5 minutes. I shared a table with a cutie called William, who made a little banter, but I was too shy to keep the conversation going (can you believe it?!) and buried myself in my Google phone. I'd say that the food was decent, but not above average. The portion size if big, the white rice perfectly cooked. The gyoza were pan-fried (as I like them) but were a hint soggy. The cucumber salad was a bit boring - just cucumber (personally I prefer english/hothouse cucumbers) and your typical sweetish asian dressing. The chicken? Well, pretty much standard fair, though good long strips of chicken, charred nicely ... though I thought the teriyaki sauce was a hint runny and a hint sweet for my liking. And for the price, they give a lot of food and the quality is consistently good. My chicken Katsu was under cooked, which undercooked chicken is NO good. Another great institution on 15th Ave. east. At least once a week we get the house special & chicken or beef fried rice. Two servings feeds 4 ... with leftovers for lunch the next day.At that and Capitol Hill they usually is parking so we order head is ready in 15 minutes we run down and pick it up and bring it back to the north end of Capitol Hill.
