The staff was cool no problem...The menu is located behind the serving counter and if you go with the platters or plates you pick your meat choice (brisket, sausage etc) and your sides tater salad cole slaw beans etc I Went with the 2 choice plate brisket - even tasty without bbq sauce sausage - nothing special IMO Taste same like thr frozen kind from the market..coleslaw - okay but I prefer raising caines more better IMO but it was ok.. Portions was okay prices I thought was expensive but I this is probably the third time I ever ate at a bbq place so what do I know.....I think was around $20-$22 .... I noticed this place while running an errand. I came back after the errand and ordered the double bbq plate. I chose brisket and ribs, with macaroni and cheese and baked beans as my sides. Everything was already cooked, so my plate was assembled by the time I was finished paying for the meal. Everyone was nice. The food was good and plentiful. I couldn't finish the sides, and I barely finished the meat. My only problem is the checkout process. There's a prompt for a tip at the end. This isn't a sit down restaurant, but I reluctantly tipped anyways. I'm tired of this. I love TEX 808. The people are always so nice. The place is pretty small but they work with what they have and are able to work through their lines quickly. I once ordered food for Thanksgiving. Employees were nice and friendly, we were able to get our food pretty fast, I ordered the triple plate and chose smoked sausage, brisket, and ribs, with potato salad and bbq beans. The potato salad was so dry and had little to no seasoning, it definitely needed more mayo or mustard, tasted bland, all i could taste were the chunks of potato mush and the red onion.. Service sucked. The wanna be hunter (Guy with the camo hat) is the worst type of worker to have. We chose to get our food to go as he must want to go home. Literally sighed when we came in. He made us feel very unwelcome. He threw his phone shortly after coming in, hit the box of gloves off the counter as it was in his way and when I asked what does he recommend he sighed loudly and said "it's all personal preference". Decided to try this eatery for the first time after a trip to the airport post office. It's located in the Moanalua Shopping Center across the parking lot from McDonald's which sits on Valkenburgh St. Plenty of parking by the way, although it was a little congested due to the lunch hour. Must be the same owner(s) as Teddy's Burgers, because our drink cup had their logo as well as Tex 808's. The restaurant was well-lit and appeared clean. Country music was playing overhead at a comfortable level. We were promptly greeted as we approached the order line. We checked out the large menu on the wall and made our choices with some help from the very courteous staff. Headed to the end of the order line and paid at the register. Less than a minute after my receipt printed out, all of our items were on the tray, and we headed to an inside table. I had the Brisket sandwich, which was topped with coleslaw and BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. The brisket and slaw were overflowing out the sides and it tasted good. My side was the mac 'n' cheese, which had a great balance of flavor and creaminess. I've had some mac 'n' cheese offerings that were either too dry and salty or soupy. This one was spot on. My wife had the 3 street tacos and was able to order a mix of the pulled pork and brisket. They looked on the small side, but she wasn't disappointed and could only finish 2 of them. Her side was the tater salad, which is their spin on a potato salad. Washed it all down with sweet tea, which did not disappoint. Having lived in the South for a couple of decades, I know my sweet tea. The only thing that could have made it better was crushed ice instead of cubed. The prices were a little steep for me to make it a regular stop ($17 for the sandwich and $14 for the tacos), but it's a nice detour from the usual plate lunch. We'll be back. read more

Really love the vibe this place brings. The St. Louis style ribs is by far their best dish. Tender, moist and flavorful, can stack up well vs most BBQ joints. The corn on the cob is perfect, not soggy or overly seasoned. Sorry the rest isn't so great. The prices are a bit on the high side, even for today's high inflation environment. For example, it's $29 for a full rack of ribs. A 3 meat plate with sides will be around $25, will take a little hit on your wallet. Feel like my blinds are being stolen every 3 rounds of the cycle. The potato salad was strange, with dill and pickles. Way too sour and a bit unpleasant. Because don't like to waste, it's close to not edible and that's saying a lot. Less pickles and more dill maybe can see it working. The pulled pork was too dry, didn't have much of a smoky flavor or actually much a flavor at all. Maybe comparing this to other places on the mainland and it's a bit harsh. The beef brisket was ok not exceptional. Somewhat fatty which is good but not that tender or moist, (common theme), a bit dry. Maybe this is because food was left out too long? One of my coworkers volunteered to pick up lunch so I said sure! I've went to the one in Hawaii Kai before but it's been a while. My coworker made a phone order and he was back so quick! I'd definitely recommend calling in or ordering online for quick service. I'm not a big eater, so I decided to try their kids plate with pulled pork and corn on the cob. The corn was so juicy and I'm glad they gave 2 instead of 1 because it was the perfect amount. The pulled pork was flavored well and the sauce was great. I'd definitely recommend the pork if you're only trying one meat. The only thing was the bread was a soggy on the bottom, I'm guessing from the pulled pork juices. The two donkeys with the goofy haircuts gotta work on their professionalism. One guy has his pants sagging so low I can read the text on his underwear, and the other guy is just in socks. The guys and I decided to head here after our round at Navy Marine Golf Course for some barbecue and beers. Nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The friendly servers explained the menu and we opted for the family pack which included a pound of pulled pork, pound of brisket, a while slab of ribs, baked beans, mac and cheese and six rolls. I noticed the way he interacted and treated all of the customers around me - which was definitely nice to see. I assume he must have been an owner/manager for him to be so unnecessarily friendly. For food - I did some quick research while I was waiting in line and saw some pictures of their Brisket Sandwich and couldn't resist. It comes with a brioche bun, your choice of meat (brisket), coleslaw, pickles, and BBQ sauce (original or sweet). The cashier let me have both since I wasn't confident which one I'd like. You also can't forget the Sweet Tea - Hallelujah! My side was Mac-n-Cheese. Everything tasted phenomenal. I definitely didn't want to share. The Sandwich was amazing. This is for the Hawaii Kai location. Let's start with the positives. The Frickles or fried pickles were great. BBQ baked beans were excellent. The service was good. When you HAVE TO PUT SAUCE ON THE MEAT FOR FLAVOR... you have literally failed! You know the experience of a great BBQ place? You walk up to the door and the savory smell of meat being slow smoked over mesquite or hickory hits your nose.... You start to salivate with anticipation! Please note, and it's a pet leave of mine, they charge you a 3% surcharge if you use your credit so I paid cash. Bill went from $17.11 to $16.74. Brisket was pretty good, on the lean side, and not a heavy smoke. Cause it was so lean, it really needed sauce. I chose the sweet sauce vs hot or mild which I liked. Recall trying the hot version at their hawaii kai location previously and didn't like it too much. It was just spicier without adding flavor. There are many kinds of BBQ, but there's a few compulsory things I look for: gotta try the brisket, the sauces, and whether the sides can elevate the experience. The brisket was flavorful and firm. I'd prefer it a little softer but that's a personal preference.While the meats were good, the sauces made them a home run. Loved the sweet , spicy and tangy! The macaroni in the Mac and cheese was a bit undercooked and unique. I'm guessing a white cheddar sauce? I order coleslaw wherever I go. I'm sort indifferent about this one at the moment. It was all dry, though it had decent flavor. The beans were great, sweet roll was good, their potato salad had a good flavor , slaw was good as well. Their banana desert was soooooo sweet. Moanalua Shopping Center is a lot closer and more convenient with lots of parking spaces even if it is just as busy. Texas 808 BBQ + Brews: saying it is a mouthful and so are their meats...especially their brisket. Pulled pork is also good. But I wanted a bit of something different this mid-afternoon. Requested the Chili-Mac: which is beef brisket and mac-n-cheese. A delicious Texas-style version of the local-style chili and mac salad. It works just as well. Not spicy at all. I don't think I had the sweet tea before and it was so good...I drank it without any ice. Open for dine-in and there are two small tables outside the picture windows. The workers were very welcoming, even each time someone walked in. They explained how to order and what was on the menu. When I got there, there was no customers, but when I was done eating the place was busy and all the tables were taken. Meats were moist and not dry at all. They give a good size amount. I got the 2 choices of meat and 2 sides. The offer sauces on the side, I like the house sauce and sweet sauce. The sweet sauce had a little kick to it. I'm not a coleslaw person, but I like theirs. I didn't get to try the pull pork, which I will get next time. I saw someone order the sandwich and that looked gooood. The have variety of drinks but I stuck to water.
