Throw the peanuts on the floor. Food is great and they give you a lot. The price is reasonable. Drinks are good also.

Continue to visit this location, but things seem to be sliding a bit. Had to send back raw chicken, steaks have been served cold, and the wait staff isn't nearly as professional as they once were. Almost feels like there are new managers who aren't managing. read more

First time for us to eat here. Worst thing was TC isn't prepared for more than 10-12 people waiting (12+ and you're jammed in uncomfortably, trying to stay out of the way of servers and departing customers). Stick with beef for dinner! One of us had chicken quesadillas, another crab Alfredo and the third a bacon burger and it was the burger that easily rated the best. We did not have a good experience here today. A friend and I met here for lunch. It took while for the hostess to seat us but once we were seated our waitress was there to greet us. She took our order then brought rolls and a bucket of peanuts. The rolls were hard and dry. That's never happened to us here before. The rolls are usually pretty awesome. So instead we each grabbed a handful of peanuts- they were stale and chewy. Awful! We heard other people complain about their peanuts too. She replaced other table's peanuts but not ours. (We didn't complain- it saved us some calories). Our meals arrived. I ordered the cactus salad. It was a plate of brown lettuce, avocado slices so hard i had to use a knife to cut them because a fork couldn't do the job, and a handful of "pulled chicken." The chicken was old and dry. I couldn't believe the kitchen sent this out. My friend ordered her favorite, the pot roast sandwich. She said hers tastes "off." It was greasy and just didn't taste good. Everything we ordered seemed old or stale. The waitress came back to check on us and I told her my salad was old and inedible and asked her to take it back. She offered to bring another meal but lunch was over and we had to leave. I was shocked that she brought me a check for my food that I sent back uneaten. This is my 2nd time in 6 months trying this place for a late lunch and disappointed woth both attempts. Today frustrated me so I finally had to post a review. I walked in and nobody greeted me. I walked over to the bar where most of the tables were filled with customers. I sat at the bar for over 10 minutes. Two waitresses walked by me and slightly glanced at me but didn't acknowledge me. I finally walked out after not one employee acknowledged to me and went down the street to Gino's steakhouse and spent $40. Service was awful. Out of mashed potatoes and shrimp. Table of two, and we only received one entree after ordering two (??) Server blamed the kitchen. Was told it would take 10 minutes for second entree to come out. Did not check on us after this. Came back 30 min later and asked us how we were doing. Really?? Still didn't get our second entree. We stopped on a whim while heading to Chicago. What a treat! The stuffed mushroom appetizers were fantastic, the ribs were tender and tasty, and the chicken was flavorful and juicy to the last bite. We are glad to see that the locations list includes a spot in southern Indiana. read more

The raspsberry ice tea was very, very weak. I asked for another tea and it was just as weak. I feel as though I deserve a refund of $2.39 for the watered down tea. But I didn't request a refund. I don't feel like going back to this restaurant. Plus there was a couple next to us that was smoking and it was very distrubing and uncomfortable to smell the smoke because we were in a non-smoking section. We stopped here on the recommendation of a friend who frequents this place from the neighborhood. First thing that bothered me was the rock n roll music was annoying and very loud. The peanuts on the table were soft and stale. The waitress was nice enough. I ordered the chicken fried steak and a cup of their famous chicken and dumpling soup. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ Pork sandwich and a cup of the same soup. The soup was a combination of sludge and gooey dough dumplings, we didn't even eat more than a few spoonfuls before we pushed it to the side of the table. The BBQ pork sandwich came on a plate that looked like a serving platter with the size of a White Castle burger in the middle. No garnishes, no pickles, no coleslaw, nothing else of the plate. The chicken fried steak looked like someone dumped a garbage can full of white sludge over no indication of what was underneath which was a breaded chicken breast and mashed potatoes that became a surprise when we scraped off the gravy and discovered what was on the plate. I took three bites of the chicken and two bites of the mashed potatoes and couldn't go any further. My boyfriend ate less than half of his very small sandwich. The waitress asked if we wanted boxes because we obviously didn't eat hardly anything, we declined. When the bill came we were charged for an extra chicken fried steak dinner. They corrected the bill. My boyfriend said that the only way he would go back,as a retired owner of a 600 seat restaurant would be to go into the back room and show the numbskulls how to cook. We will never go to any Texas Corral location again. We have been to the Texas Roadhouse in Orland Park and had excellent food, service and atmosphere. read more

In spite of the negative reviews shown, my husband and I were very impressed with our visit on Saturday June 16th, 2018, Took my husband for Father's day there and first of all the waitress was very friendly and helpful and was right on top of getting refills and checking to see that everything was ok. My husband had a steak and said it was very, very tender and done just the way he likes it, Better then Texas Roadhouse where he had to keep sending his steak back before they got it right. Walk into this place and saw peanut shell all over the floor put doubt into my mind about the place. I dont really like peanut but a big bucket was on the table. I order a bill in a big mug of beer to my suprise it was that huge. The watress was nice but the menu was full grill meal. I order a steak that took about 15 minute to reach my table. My husband and I went to Texas Corral Saturday, November 16, 2013 for dinner. It is close by our home so we go there a lot. This time my salad and his was full of water. This is actually the second time I've experienced my salad being watered down. My husband ordered a steak well done and it was so tuff he couldn't finish it. I would have sent it back to the cook but he was afraid someone would do something to his food. He also ordered sweet potato fries. They had sugar on them. Who does that. First time we ate here. I had the 6 oz petite filet with a butter potato and added the ribs. It came with soup or salad I chose the salad. The salad was bigger than I was expecting. The filets were tender and delicious, the ribs were falling off the bone and the barbecue sauce was awesome. The baked potato was very good. My wife got the baja salad. She liked the salad had plenty of chicken in it. She couldn't eat it all. The service was excellent. Will definitely be going back. read more

Texas Corral is like a Tale of Two Cities, or in this case two restaurants inhabiting the same space. We come here a lot for lunch with our "frequent cow killer card", and a couple of times a month for dinner. I have never had a better piece of fried chicken in my life than I had here once at lunch time, very crunchy and juicy. I get the chicken fried chicken with gravy on the side and it was and usually is great. Their steaks are typically good, but the small lunch version usually is dry. When you go to a lot of places like this for lunch you can always tell about when everyone comes in to work by how soft the baked potatoes are and how warm the soup is, they need to work on this. I really love their salads, they are all fresh large pieces of lettuce and veggies, but I don't think about half or so of the staff understand that you need to drain it or there will be a puddle at the bottom of the plate with runny ranch in it. The last few time I've been there the salads are getting a little small compared to what they were. I, like many others that don't run down the street into a bus stop screaming Allahu Akbar, love ribs. I craved some and got them last night and they were really tough, dry, and with big chunks of fat on them, not anything like the last time I had them here. I really try to get food at a restaurant that isn't typically served from a can, is re-heatable from the previous night (like ribs or baked potatoes), or lends itself to assembly line preparation, like a lot of Mexican food unfortunately falls into, but these ribs had to be a retread. The staff here is usually friendly, but I feel bad for them having to suffer with the architect that thought his remodeling plans were a stroke of genius and just not a stroke. They are going to have to cover and heat the porch so there is a place for people to wait without getting frostbite. Still love the place, will always be our favorite lunch spot! read more

My family and I came here on a road trip going to Michigan with my 3 dogs who I love more than anything in the world and we decided to get a hotel here and eat at this place and oh my god this place is pure shit. First off the waitress came at us with 30 different piercings and she reeked of alcohol she told us the specials we said no and she got really sad and said we have to get it slow said we already know what we want and she said FINE. We ordered our food I had a ribeye and it was the driest food I've ever had I could had eaten crackers and I would have gotten more juice. It wasn't just the food that turned us away it was the god awful metal music blasting throughout the restaurant. We got our bill and they charged us with food from another table we told them this and they said well that sucks doesn't it and we were forced to pay because of how threatened we felt I will never come back here again and may God have mercy on anyone's souls that comes to this awful piece of shit restaurant we actually took some of our food back to the hotel and gave them to our dogs and they yelped and threw up the food and one of them passed out this place is run by psychopaths read more

The food was okay but our waitress seemed snarky. Service wasn't slow but she definitely dialed it in. No small talk or eye contact. We tipped her 20% because nothing was wrong with the meal but in retrospect I would have tipped less because we got scolded for shoving a couple peanuts into our to go bag. I get it, we're not allowed to take peanuts because other people will take advantage and blah blah. It wasn't a big deal and we took the peanuts out but stern tone and angry talking to was unnecessary. Reviewer Collin nailed it. This place is simply atrocious. Terrible. The food is just cooked slop. Steaks are completely devoid of flavor. No grill flavor or even salt and pepper. The salad was just sad. The balsamic dressing was actually so bad I gagged. Tasted of unripe tomato and vinegar? Potato (baked) was hard and dry and brown throughout. The Mr had catfish and it was embarrassingly bad. A huge thick low quality filet that was also unseasoned but reeked of a smelly fish smell. He cut into it and it actually cut like a chicken breast and was grey inside. The baked potato soup he had with his meal tasted of cheese whiz and was simply awful. As I read the reviews prior to writing mine I could not believe that no one really mentioned how horrid the food is. I mean it is just wretched. Huge waste of money. Just ate there a few hours ago. Damn it was atrocious. I ordered the filet with a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. The Caesar came out and looked horrible; a pile of mostly the "butt" of the lettuce, a dressing that didn't even taste like Caesar dressing, and no Parmesan. Absolutely disgusting. Filet comes out in two small chunks. It had no seasoning whatsoever; bland as all get out. I wound up smothering the thing in A1 to have some flavoring. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had come out of the freezer, thrown in a bowl and microwaved. I had 3 other member in my party and even their food was disgusting. I most decidedly will not be returning ever again. It's an insult to other steakhouses that actually put effort into their food. To top it off, service was mediocre. Visited a week ago and this place has gone down the tubes. My daughter came in to town and even though we had bad service and bad food the time before i took her as she requested. Our waiter was vic. Not sure if it was his first day or what but the experience was terrible. We always love the onion blossum or rose, whatever its called, but this time was undercooked just like the last time. We order food and i got the rib and steak combo, med well. It was over cooked and i couldnt believe how small the steak was. It was honestly 4 bites. We also had other stuff and my wife and daughter got side of soup. It was terrible as well. My wifes spoon was dirty and after vic never came back around i went looking for someone to get a spoon. On my way i saw vic and asked him for a CLEAN spoon. After 10 min he never brought one so i ask the young kid bringing food from the kitchen. He quickly brought it out. By then the soup was not very hot. Vic never once came back and ask how our dinner was. A woman came around after we picked through the dinner, not very happy. She asked how dinner was and i told her we had better food at other places and she just smiled and walked away. Not sure if she didnt hear me or what. As we sat there shaking our heads the customers on one side of us were talking about how they waited for a long time to get service and were thinking about leaving. The family directly behind us were arguing because vic had messed up their order and the wife wanted to leave but the husband wanted to continue to wait. Was very bad night. Vic was waiter at all our tables and he failed miserably. The manager or whoever that ignored us never came around again. We requested our bill and left the custumery tip of $.25. My wife did tip the young man that brought the spoon and xtra plates the $10 vic should have gotten. There was much more to this nightmare but i really have other things to do but type all night. I guess its my fault because i gave them another chance. $80 special night with my family down the tubes. We used to eat here weekly about a year ago. Guess they have changed staff since. We have a history of dining at Texas Corral about 5 times a year, mostly during the fall/winter . The most recent time was 10-16-12. We almost always order the filet and were ready to do so only to find out that the filet wasn't a steak, but rather "medallions". Medallions are typically sirloin tips or stew meat, not prime steak. It seams to me that premium prices for a few small chunks of meat is somehow demeaning. Apparently the management has no idea of the impact of cheapening a premium item, and continuing to charge top dollar. Surely sirloin tips have a place on the menu but not representing itself as the top-of-the-line steak. There are too many other choices that don't cheapen their top steak. If you desire filet mignon, like I do, maybe it's time to consider other options. read more

We were really disappointed in this place, we haven't been here for quite sometime and remembered it as a decent restaurant. My husband and father both ordered the steak and all you can eat shrimp, according to both of them the steak was tasteless the shrimp were hot and crispy, both had no complaints. My dad ordered coffee, it must of been cooking all day, I can't tell you how many creamers he used just to lighten it! He did let our waiter know, the waiter just smiled and left! I ordered the kabobs, one filet and one chicken and once they got my order correct I felt the steak although tender was tasteless too. It's like they used no seasoning what so ever, the chicken was awesome, but by time I got it I was too full to really enjoy it. Our waiter was attentive, but neglected to pick up dirty dishes.
