This was my first time eating from here, but I really wanted some Thai food, and Thai Charcoal Pit closed. After searching high and low, giving up, and coming back, I found Thai Barbecue. I ordered the S. Combo, the teriyaki salmon, yellow curry with tofu, and pad thai with tofu. The chicken in the S. Combo fell off the bone. My mom and sister loved the chicken and ribs. The salmon was so good, and you taste the smokey flavor from it being grilled. The yellow curry had the perfect amount of sweetness with the spicy. The shrimp fried rice was really good. The sauces they provided were all really good, and complemented their dishes perfectly. The pad thai was the perfect spicy. I absolutely love my pad thai to be spicy, and it was perfect. The food is incredibly flavorful and fresh. The prices are very reasonable. The service was good. If I lived closer, I would order for delivery or takeout more often. Takeout window is convenient. The restaurant is on a business corner off of a busy street with lots of parking during the day. So it's very convenient and they cook when your order. It's fast. I remember going here over a decade ago, glad to see that this gem is still around. They remodeled the inside so there's a nice clean modern look, lots of booths and tables with leather accents. What's sets this apart is that there is so much fresh food that's served by Thai people. Other places are new fads that are overpriced with too much oils and grease, not much flavor, mixed with other Asian cuisine and just kinda fads and flashy. This place is a mom and pop no thrills place and affordable with lunch specials. The beef is excellent. There is a good array of beverages lemonade raspberry tea sodas, and Thai iced tea. No boba drinks, but lots nearby. I like this because temptation is at bay, a mere block or two if you crave for dessert. But one block or two is enough to keep me from drinking boba. I went tho Tai Barbeque on 7th and Temple in Long Beach California and bought two S1, which is the Kiang Chicken and shrimp fried rice meal. My rice had 3 shrimp and about 6 shrimp tails disguised as shrimp. I spent over $30 dollars for my food. One of the best Thai restaurants in Long Beach. We always drive by this place, but somehow overlooked them until recently. On the outside, the place looks like an old diner turned Thai restaurant. Their menu includes a great selection authentic specialties, with a focus on BBQ. There are lots of vegetarian options as well. I placed on order on Yelp, which arrived 45 minutes later. The delivery guy was nice. My boyfriend got the Yum Nuea Salad and Chicken Satay, and was impressed by the quality of ingredients. I got the Pad See Ew, an incredible rendition of this classic dark soy sauce noodle dish, and Panang Curry, whose thick, rich consistency dazzled my taste buds with multifaceted sweet, spicy, and nutty flavors. I got both dishes with tofu, and wow-there was SO much tofu! Enough protein and substance for at least 4 meals. My only complaint was the severe lack of vegetables-just 4 pieces of American broccoli in my Pad See Ew, and 3 tiny slivers of bell pepper in my curry. I've been eating there for over 15 years but today the family decided to try the one in Long Beach, since we were running errands over in that part of town. I'm normally excited to receive my beef sate meal but when I first saw it-it didn't even look like what I'm used to. What i usually like about a chain is that there is usually consistency in the taste and preparation. To my surprise, that was not the case here. The waiter was a sweetheart. He unfortunately brought me an incorrect part of my order. I let it go as there's no need to throw away food. As we ate, I found a nice medium sized beetle in my food. Since I had already just about finished my meal, I let that go too. As I get to the end of the incorrect part of my order, an INSANELY LARGE hair was found in it. As we quietly and professionally informed them of the hair and asked for the item to officially be removed from the bill, and argument ensued. The manager REFUSED to issue and apology and replied verbatim, "I'll refund the drink, but I don't believe that hair is one of ours". At that point, we had HAD it and requested an apology. another refusal. The manager took the payment used, allegedly processed the refund, returned to our table and THREW the receipt and credit card to the incorrect owner of the credit. Now I'm disappointed at his actions and I call him back to tell him that his actions were EXTREMELY unprofessional and he was being rude for absolutely no reason. Now, he's yelling at the owner of the credit card, and causing a scene in front of myself and other patrons and vehemently refused to apologize for vermin and human biological refuse in our food. Tried two dishes, one with pork and one with seafood. The seafood was undercooked, much of it was tough and had awful textures. But worse was the sugar content of the sauce. It was so sugary it was basically inedible. I wasn't warned about the sugar content beforehand, and I couldn't even eat the seafood dish. The dish was completely soaked in this awful concoction and laid in a giant pool of it. I wouldn't be surprised if it pushed 2000 calories on its own. The pork was similarly awful. The meat was likely precooked and frozen, the texture was alright but it must have been marinated in a terribly sugary sauce because it was WAY too sweet. The rice that came with every meal was likely pre-frozen as it was pretty tough and I've made better rice at home many times. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone until they cut back on the ridiculous amounts of sugar in their food. It's basically fast food dessert disguised as Thai food. Maybe that's the point of an Americanized Thai restaurant in California, but I'll never eat there again. read more

What the (beep) is this that I'm eating...evn my 2 year old niece chewed on the beef satay and split it out (no evn exaggerating). What a waste of my money. Fantastic! 5 stars all around: food, taste, portion, delivered hot and packaged with care. Came here one night wanting some thai food, but didn't want to drive terribly far as it's in my neighborhood. Luckily, they have a parking lot, so that is one plus. Going inside reminds me of a cheap diner or typical donut shop. The cheap seats are all plastic and uncomfortable. The place is also very cold, and even more so being that it's been like 48-55 degrees lately. Turn on the heat at least a bit, come on now. The tom kha gai was probably a 3 out of 5 for me. Not only have I had much better, but I can make it better too. The soup came out cold and the flame went out super quick too. The mushrooms didn't even fully cook... you know that taste and texture of uncooked mushrooms? Yep. The soup was also lacking a galanga flavor. But hey, I was hungry and am sometimes not too picky when I should be. So I ate it anyway. The red salmon curry wasnt bad. Maybe another 3/5 for this. The curry itself was ok, but I dont know what it was about the salmon. It didn't scream out fresh to me for some reason, but it wasnt terrible to the point that I couldn't eat it. That's the problem when you get a fish covered up by a strong curry, it's harder to decipher the actual quality of it. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just one of them slow weeks or what not. I will come back again because they're seriously like a block away from where I live. Ordered from Uber Eats. My Tom yum noodle soup was horrible. A lot of noodles but the ground pork came in giant lumps instead of smaller pieces like ground pork should be in this soup. Shrimps were so over cooked they were like shrimp jerkey. The broth had NO lemon grass or galangal flavor or kefir lime leaves. It was super sweet with no sour and not enough savory so pretty much it was sweet but this is NOT the soup with coconut milk which is mildly sweet. I literally ate three bites and threw it out sadly. I couldn't eat it. It also took them almost one hour to have my one item order with two Thai ace teas made for pickup. The diver even had to wait a while. Some restaurants don't put as much effort in to their delivery orders bcz they don't get direct contacts w the customer Idk. I only come here for Thai BBQ which is oh so good for your tummy. If only I knew their secret recipe and know what they use to marinate the meat I'd forever be in BBQ heaven. I've been here before, as well as the other location in Cerritos many times. After a conversation about their stellar Pork Ribs (S-2), I had those bad boys on my mind for weeks. Sure, the ambience may not be as swanky as the Cerritos location, but their food is definitely on par. Seriously, just try their Pork Ribs. It is a dish I believe everyone should try once in a Lifetime. Their Pad See Ew is also another dish you shouldn't miss; however, they do have their off days when making it. The food here is not even mediocre. It looks good sure. Smells good? Yes. Clean tables? Okay. But why then is it not as good as the Carson branch. I sort of had a huntch it wasn't going to be good when I looked at the fish tank and saw my favorite fish (blow fish) was dying. I'll give it a half star more just because the waiter was very attentive. Maybe also I should've known it wasn't going to be good when we pulled up and the parking lot was empty and we were the only ones in the place. This place is just okay, as far as delivery service goes. I think they have a new person working the phone lines who isn't as good as the previous guy. It takes a lot of time figuring out credit card details and addresses and such. Plus, there is a twenty dollar before tax minimum for credit cards. This turned out to be kind of a pain because I was at 18.00 before tax, 20.40 after tax, and I still had to beef up my order to use my credit card. Lame. Especially because I suspect there was some creative interpretation of that rule: the girl slipped and said 15 dollar minimum before she changed her mind. Double lame.
