I usually come to the location for a Thai tea to go You should know they close between three and four (for lunch breaks...) Often times when I have come, they are still closed after 4 o'clock. The reason for my shit review is: Today I went and ordered my drink and forgot to ask for no ice, so when she handed it back for me and it wasn't even full... I asked for Boba and she was like OK just let me know kind of rude. I paid in cash and she went to grab the drink back from me and I just said OK never mind... When you go in for a to go drink that sometimes has Boba isn't that a question you should ask? Part of serving is anticipating guests needs... won't be back. The place was packed, yet we were afforded prompt courteous service for seating and taking our order. We asked for water and Singha and both appeared rapidly on our table. Our food was quickly made and served at the correct temperature and was extremely tasty. Loved the Ba-mee Moo Dang and the Prik Khing. Having tried ALL the Thai restaurants from Atascadero to Paso, none of them met the quality standards for food and service of this place. Having eaten Thai food around the world (multiple times in Thailand) this is a solid choice for this cuisine when you find yourself in the Central Coast. As is the problem sometimes on Yelp, this establishment has been low rated by spoiled, self proclaimed experts on various subjects including how to prepare Thai food and how to run a business. Suspect that none of them know a fraction of what it takes to provide a good tasting meal to the public, or they would have posted their restaurant name & address for all of us to enjoy. They take protocols very seriously and their customer service has been excellent. Take out times are pretty speedy, but that doesn't mean the quality suffers. In pre-pandemic times I went there for the atmosphere and to sit down and eat and luckily for me, their warm atmosphere is brought forth through their food and into my stomach! My absolute favorite Thai restaurant on the central coast! They restaurant is nicely decorated with a beautiful outside patio area. The staff is so friendly and if you go there enough, they will memorize your order and treat you like family. However, we decided to give it a shot and are glad we did. We ordered some classics, including Chicken Larb, Pad Thai, Pad See Eew, tofu yellow curry, tofu stir fry, rice. All the dishes were tasty. I now have a service dog. She is my lifeline. Twice I've tried to eat here. Both times they tried to put me on the patio and gave hard looks at my dog. I explained each time that she's my Service Dog and they just looked at me like I was speaking garbeldy-gook... I do not handle conflict well so just left. This was so close by our Airbnb and we needed some asian fix on our trip. Thai Elephant helped satisfy those cravings. Just so you know, this place is AUTHENTIC THAI CUISINE. For starters, we ordered the tom yum soup. I love tom yum soup and to say that this was the best I ever had, is an understatement. It had just the right amount of spice and tang. This is a must get here. You won't be disappointed. If I was hungry, I would've ordered the pot version which is double the amount. Its that good. Next up, I ordered the drunken noodles (also known as the pad kee mao) with mild spicy. It was good, but I should've got the medium spicy like I usually get at other Thai restaurants, but I was afraid it would be too spicy for me. My boyfriend got the pineapple fried rice and it came in a big pineapple (only right way to do this, is this.) The pineapple was fresh and sweet and it was a huge amount. I couldn't finish the drunken noodles and took it to go. Overall, the staff and service here was spectacular. They made sure our water was refilled constantly and I even expressed to the waitress that their tom yum soup was out of the world. This was a hole in a wall, you wouldn't think that you'd find an authentic Thai restaurant, but I'm glad I did. A perfect way to end our day. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Atascadero. I love the Tofu yellow curry. It is always perfection! Tofu is silky, veggies are cooked just right and the curry is so good I could drink it. We recently had the sampler platter and the spring rolls were some of the best I have had. Lots of variety inside which was a great surprise. Service: The gentleman who took my order was very polite, food was ready within the timeframe estimated, and the pick up at the restaurant went very smoothly. COVID practices: Excellent. Hand sanitizer was available outside of the door before entry, social distancing markers in place, tables blocked out to maintain distancing, everyone in the restaurant was wearing masks and the guests who were dining inside were far away from people picking up food. Clean pens and dirty pans were clearly indicated next to the cash register, they had protocols for handing your credit card to them, and they even asked if we needed utensils (Trying to limit our waste now that everybody's doing takeout). After some of the awful practices we've seen all over town while we were here for a long weekend, we were very blessed to come across this restaurant. Best of the three Thai Elephant locations! The food was perfectly seasoned and generous portions. My husband and I ordered the yellow and green curry, medium spice. It could've been a little spicier but still had exceptional flavor. We also ordered the fried tofu with dipping sauces. They were like tofu French fries and tasted great dunked in the curry. So...I've been to this restaurant numerous times, and my food has always been hot and tasty....whether it's dine in or take out! The only problem I've ever had/witnessed has been with the service. Most of the people that work there are incredibly lovely and helpful! But there are a few bad apples. No one has ever been truly rude to me, but they have been a bit short/unpleasant. Which is a bit off putting. That being said......if I went through life basing my decisions on grumpy butts, I'd miss out on a lot of great experiences! AND yummy Thai food!!!
