Thai Time on 8th Ave & Clement is one of those cozy neighborhood spots that feels like a warm hug the moment you sit down. The fish cakes arrive first, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with that unmistakable Thai herb kick that wakes up your taste buds. The Panang tofu is the real comfort hero here: rich, creamy peanut sauce with just the right touch of sweetness, perfectly coating the tofu and eggplant. The spice level brings a gentle, lingering heat that builds slowly, never overpowering, just deeply satisfying. Everything tastes homey, generous, and made with care like someone's favorite family recipe rather than a rushed restaurant dish. Thai Time isn't trying to be flashy; it's simply serving soulful Thai comfort food, and doing it very well.

We were craving Thai food after some drinks and found this place! We ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and a Pad See Ew with chicken. We also asked for making them spicy, and they did a really good job, the spicy level is at the right amount! Pad Thai is a stir-fried rice noodle with shrimp mixed with fried tofu, bean sprouts, egg, and peanuts. Their fried tofu was so good that it's crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside! The noodles are full of flavors, sour, and a bit sweet! And the portion is huge that I couldn't even finish it.

We visited Thai Time on a Sunday evening for dinner. The slightly cramped restaurant was fairly empty but there were lots of takeout orders. We ordered a pad see ew and pad thai, both of which we asked for spicy, and I would say they delivered. For both the noodle dishes, the flavor was solid and as mentioned, the spice level was perfect. I would say I have quite a high spice tolerance and it was hot enough to make me sweat a little bit. The portion sizes were quite large as well, which is a huge plus. If there was one thing I could critique, it would be that the pad see ew noodles were cut a little bit on the short end, but I think that comes down to personal preference. Overall I would say this is a great thai restaurant in the neighborhood!

The pork is just a little bit warmer than body temperature. Hopefully it was not leftover from yesterday.

Passed by this place multiple times. It was a carry out only restaurant during pandemic time and reopened for dining in last year. It is a small place with about 6 to 7 small tables. Tried it today and here's my comment: the service is good and the owner served me. The decoration is great too. But for some reason the food is not good. Being eating in such a small space, I expect to get very hot (not just warm or even cold) dish. But unfortunately the dish I got is just warm. Especially the pork is colder than the noddles. I don't know if they cooked my dish and let it sitting on kitchen table for a long time before serving the dish to me. But there's no reason they would do that in such a small restaurant. Another possibility is something I hope is not true: they served me leftover food.

Stopped for lunch as I was in town for the day. This restaurant is really small but food was tasty. They have lunch specials. I ordered the lunch special #13-PAD MA KEUR and the mango sticky rice. It wasn't bad. They have decent prices for their specials. Staff were ok. We found parking right in front. Came in around noon on a Weds. I would dine here again if I'm in the area. They have 1 restroom and you have to go through the kitchen to get to it.

Came here for lunch on a saturday. Was not busy at all and we were able to be seated immediately. We ordered 3 dishes: green bean curry fried rice, pad see ew veggie, and panang curry with tofu Panang curry with tofu was sooo good! very thick curry, generous amounts of tofu that were fried but not overly oily and delicious garlic rice to go with it. Green bean curry fried rice was also good, more like a red curry fried rice with beans added - was good but didn't blow my mind. Thought the pad see ew was a little oily but overall it was good just not as good as the other two. Very small space so would recommend not coming here with a big group. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to go again but it was good and I wouldn't mind revisiting.

A friend recommended this place when I visited San Francisco recently. I trusted him and viewed the website menu then placed an order - Pad see eew, Pad Gra Prow, and chicken wings with curry sauce! I got there about twenty minutes after placing the order and the food was packed and waiting for pickup. The restaurant is very small and. and I probably wouldn't have gone there if it wasn't recommended. It appeared to be a one man operation. I paid for the food - a bit pricey but that's the norm nowadays especially in San Francisco. When I got back to my destination and tasted the food - great! Not skimpy on the protein either! And spiced to my liking- medium spicy. So, don't let looks deceive you - Thai Time does not disappoint!

===TL;DR=== - 17. Yum Woon Sen Salad - 33. Hor Mok Talay ===TMI=== Surprised I haven't review this place yet but I've been here throughout the years. They've been operating since 1997 so let's keep small businesses running!! I've always been a returning customer for one thing mainly - Hor Mok Talay. Creamy, a tad spicy, red curry sauce covering delicious seafoods! Perfect with a side of rice to clear all the sauces off the plate! First time trying their #17 and it was also very good. A bit tangy, good for opening the appetite. Small restaurant so don't recommend a huge party - though I'm sure they can make something happen if so. I think they fit around 12-16 people inside. PSA: no restroom inside the restaurant.

Date: Sunday, May 19th. 2024 Meal: Late Lunch / Early Dinner Delivery Food For: 2 people Ordered: via DoorDash DoubleDash Time Ordered: around 2:45pm Time Arrived: around 3:30pm Delivered To: Outer Richmond 13. Som Tum ($13) 38. Gang Keaw: Chicken ($15) 47. Pad Gra Prow: Ground Chicken ($14) 74. Pad Thai: Shrimp ($16) *Brown Rice ($3.50) I first tried Thai Time about 15ish years ago. When I was craving Thai earlier this month, I decided to revisit as I didn't remember much about this spot. Delivery was quick as we double dashed, but they are in our neighborhood, so fairly close. Best dish hands down was the Basil Chicken. So flavorful. Plus this spot has huge portions! The curry and the pad thai fed us for multiple meals. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the rest of the dishes as much. The curry was very thin. Almost soup like. The pad thai was mushy and a tad too sweet. I added a bunch of sambal to it. The papaya salad didn't have much flavor. 5 STARS for the basil chicken, 3 stars for everything else. I'll average it out to 4. REVIEW #3427

    Pad Kee Mow
    Benson W.

Pad kee mao; Random little hole in the wall spot and decided to try it out. I always get pad kee mao at Thai restaurants. I normally just order pad kee mao without looking at what's inside and was surprised to see baby corn and bamboo shoots. I personally love bamboo shoots in my ramen but I don't think it mixed too well in this dish. Noodles were fair, not completely soft but not overly oiled. Wasn't spicy at all and I forgot to ask them to make it spicy. Overall, it's a decent pad kee mao. Good price and quantity but just didn't have that spicy and savory quality that I'm use to.

Heard a lot of good things about Khao Tiew from friends and it recently was rated #1 Thai…read morerestaurant in SF on Beli! The biggest deterrent was just the wait...they have a waitlist but don't do reservations. We got there at 3:05pm on a Saturday and were the 2nd ones in line. At 3:30pm, staff came out to set up some benches and queue poles, and there were probably 50 people in line then. By 4pm restaurant open, there were probably 100+ people in line...If you're coming on a weekend, I'd recommend coming at 3:15pm to get 1st seating. I brought a camping chair in preparation and was quite pleased with my decision LOL. I heard weekdays aren't as bad. It's located in a residential neighborhood so street parking was reasonable to find but it is located on a hill. The inside is clean and homey with brand posters in Thai posted on the walls. Even though they're known for curries, our group isn't big on them so while we ordered a LOT of food, we didn't get any curries. They're also known for their kaya toast but we also didn't get it but TWO separate parties next to us were celebrating their birthdays there and they both got it and it looked so tasty. Service was fast and responsive. They ask for your spice level and we noted mild and I felt that to be true. Everything was tasty and flavorful but our top 3 were: Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk, Pad See Ew, and Khao Soi Pad Haeng! - Crispy Papaya Salad: tasty and unique take on papaya salad. Kind of huge though, definitely need to share with a group - Crispy Shrooms Yum Yum with Ground Pork: this was our friend's favorite! - Nuer Nam Tok (boneless short rib): loved the short rib! Comes with cucumber and lettuce for you to wrap it in. They ask you to mix the dish together and it had a spot with red spices in the corner and I accidentally ate a serving with a bunch of it and got kind of cooked lol but spice levels were good other than that! - Pad Ped Nuer Sabb (very spicy ground beef): really flavorful and not actually that spicy even with the warning and I'm saying this as someone that's really bad with spicy! - Goong Pad Kai Kem (shrimp w/ salted egg yolk): the egg yolk made it really heavy, you definitely need to share this. Probably the weakest dish out of all of the ones we ordered - Moo Kra Tiem (wok fried pork): good but nothing too special - Khao Ob Mun Pu (crab clay pot rice): they did not hold back on the crab portion! Very flavorful and the clay pot got the bottom of the rice crispy, yum - Khao Soi Pad Haeng (w/ fried chicken): fantastic! It's dry khao soi with some coconut milk (?) mixed in. Tasted amazing, great noodle texture. Fried chicken was also really good - Pork Pad See Ew: wow probably the best pad see ew I've ever had!! So much flavor and great noodle texture - Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk (short rib fried rice): my favorite dish! Short rib so good and the fried rice is soooo fragrant and especially delicious when mixing in the egg

Had to go physically since they don't do reservations online anymore…read more The wait was about two hours but we actually walked around and went to an open bar a short walk away. They text you when your table is ready and got have about 5 minutes to get there. Right away I knew I wanted the Khao soi which I got with tofu. This was beyond delicious, but I wish they have more broth. I've had Khao soi before but it was a bit more broth which made the noodles less dry. Also I wish the tofu was cut into smaller cubes, the tofu wasn't very crispy which made it pretty bland and one dimensional. Other than that it was very good. The Thai tea was also good, not too sweet which was perfect. The duck breast curry had a similar taste to the Khao soi but the duck was one of the beast we had. Super moist and flavorful in the broth, definitely one of the best dishes of the night. Also the beef fried rice (Khao pad mun neur) was cooked well, my favorite was the flavor of the fried rice. Had a smoky wok flavor to it which made it addicting. The ambience was very nice my favorite was their music playlist. Was nostalgic and gave good vibes in the restaurant. Definitely a great experience and worth a try when in the city. I would come again for the duck curry and maybe the Khao soi with a different protein or ask the tofu to be extra crispy.

Fresh rolls - crisp and springy with lots of greens and tofu and a good peanut sauce to dip. Crispy pork belly sweet basil - the CRISP and flavor of this pork belly was to die for. Chicken larb - this was my favorite dish of the night. Heavy basil/herbs, just a little kick from the chilies, full on flavor explosion. I will be thinking of this dish for a long time haha. The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked.
