    Thai Fried Rice with chicken

We ordered from this place for takeout and it was ready pretty fast. The thai fried rice with chicken was great! It was seasoned well, had the right amount of chicken, and came in a good portion. The mango sticky rice was alright. The sticky rice and coconut cream was good but the mangoes were not ripe enough.

Thai Village in Pleasant Hill is absolutely delicious! I had a team building luncheon here and the food and service did not disappoint. They have great lunch specials and I ordered the Thai Prik Khing and it was so good I look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu. Their menu has lots of breakfast and lunch options at good prices. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and was filled with locals and Door Dash drivers waiting to pick up their orders for take out. So folks know this place has good, fresh and delicious food! Look forward to coming back and trying them for breakfast.

    Lovely presentation for lunch order

It appears that Thai Village has had a change in management in recent months. The interior has been redecorated and to my eye some of the former ambiance is missing. A friend and I have long called Thai Village our favorite place to celebrate our birthdays. After our latest lunch, we agreed that we will -- sadly -- be looking for a new Thai restaurant. We both had chicken dishes with a side of brown rice (extra charge). The meal began with a small salad, essentially spring green mix with a few shredded carrots and a drizzle of dressing. Am not a fan of spring green mix -- no substance to it. The entree and rice dishes were nicely presented on a white tray which also held a small dish of those colorful chips often found in Thai restaurants. Am sure some people like those chips. Pardon me if you, dear reader, are one. But like spring green mix, they lack substance. They remind me of styrofoam. The heat of both entrees was off. I ordered medium and found my chicken dish was more on the HOT side. My friend ordered Hot and declared her dish was TOO HOT. The server blamed it on a recent order of peppers. So order with caution! I had the opposite problem with my hot tea. A nice presentation, but the tea was room temperature. Back it went. Again, the server had an excuse ... the pot was not turned on. The final straw for me was the restroom. I had to pass by the kitchen to reach it and found two open doors. The interior door near the kitchen was propped open. Easy enough to close. The other door was a problem. Outside that door, two women were prepping some raw chicken. Whatever they were doing required an electrical outlet in the restroom so the door could not be fully closed. They relunctantly unplugged the cord so I could fully shut the door. While the restroom was clean, the whole setup with food prep just steps away struck me as very, very odd. Will not be returning.

This restaurant location has been a neighborhood staple but has changed ownership several times. I thought I would try this restaurant with new owners. I ordered the Somtam Set for $16.95 for take out. The description was spicy papaya salad with fried chicken and sticky rice. The salad was tasty but the papaya had an odd texture like it's from a jar and not fresh. I was very disappointed with the "fried chicken". All I got was 4 small overcooked and dried chicken wing pieces that were not freshly fried and was tasteless. The menu description was a bit misleading and should have been described as 4 chicken wing pieces. The sticky rice was also not fresh and was not made within a couple of hours. The new staff wasn't as friendly as the previous owners which was disappointing.

This is the $16 cashew nut chicken for carry out. Talk about shrinkflation. Guess it's back to just not eating Thai again. ‍If I turn this package sideways it's about half full. It was good but I'd have to order one for everyone to make a meal.

Wonderful ambience: this spot is perfect for a date-night. Tucked away in a rather unfrequented shopping area of Pleasant Hill, away from downtown bustles, you'll love the cozy privacy this place affords. Food matches the atmosphere: unassuming and yet super delicious. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

When we moved back to Pleasant Hill after living in different places for a long time, we were thrilled to find a Thai restaurant that we could always count on. It's been 10 years since we've gone to this Thai restaurant, and our review is long overdue :) Unfortunately, they were closed during COVID, but I was thrilled to hear that they are now open again after calling a few months ago. We used to dine in, but now we prefer to have everything to-go. We've always had a great time! Service: They always have a smile on their face. They forgot my mango and sticky rice order the last time I ordered. Although they had already contacted me to let me know about their mistake and offer to remove it from my account if I didn't want to drive back, I still picked up my phone to give them a call (as i missed their voicemail). They knew my phone number and answered the phone with my name when I called to say, "Yes, please refund it." It's not that difficult, but I've never experienced this before in my life. I was blown away. Food: The food at this restaurant is always top-notch. A few of our personal faves include the Pad Thai, the fried rice with crab and egg, the angel wing chicken, lamb kapap, and the mango sticky rice and mango. Their servings are enormous. The crab fried rice my mother always orders is enough for two people. If you come here on a leisure day, they are very willing to talk and share stories about their history. I give them my highest recommendation and will definitely be ordering again in the future! PS: so unfortunate that they are not available on UberEats, DoorDash or GrubHub. I talked to the cashiers but they explained they may not.

Tom Yum Gai soup w/ chicken - excellent!

Not great. Food was fine. Atmosphere was awkward. There was a child in the kitchen coughing the entire time we were there...

The crispy coating adds to enjoyment of the experience. The syrup is buttery and the presentation is really eye catching. The good thing is this dish is as delicious as it looks The downside was it took 45 minutes to get the orders of chicken and waffles. The other people at the table were almost done with their food. It appeared there were 5 orders of this , but only one gadget to make the waffle ? Or was it the chicken? It was a good thing we enjoyed the company of the people we with otherwise we would have been annoyed, but honestly, I am glad the waiter told us what was happening so we were prepared. Our company slowed down their eating. Paella had lobster, shrimp, clams and the paella rice was delicious!! The person who ordered it absolutely loved the paella and all the toppings. Everyone at the table got to sample the dish and agreed it rivaled the paella at the Catalan restaurant in Walnut Creek. The rice had a crispy crusty and the seasoning was just right. I plan on ordering the paella when we return. Avocado Croissant Toast The person who ordered this said there was too much lettuce. It was a delicious sandwich, but she would not order it again especially since there were wuite a few items, she wanted to try on the menu. She eluld recommend only if you like croissants and avocados. Ube Latte The people next to us ordered this. The bear was so cute. Based on what we saw, we ordered our own Ube Latte. The late was topped with a purple bear ice cube! I loved the bear and when I went home, I ordered my own ice cube silicon mold We want to return in a couple months. This is a great breakfast and brunch place. It is eorth the money. We love the Royale. Didn't love the LONG WAIT for the food.
