This place is tucked away at the corner of a small plaza. It can be easy to miss but once you're inside it feels homey! I actually only found out about this place because of Yelp! I had been by the area a few times but I never noticed it because it's so tucked away. It's worth taking a look into nonetheless! I went on a Saturday night and it was actually pretty quiet, some people came by to eat or pick up orders but luckily it wasn't overly busy. It is a smaller restaurant, so it would likely accommodate smaller parties but i believe you can make reservations for larger parties as well. I really liked the appetizers! I couldn't choose so i decided to get the Secret of the Thai Village for all the above! I appreciated that the food was never too heavy or salty, it sat at a good level for me. The food portions were slightly smaller than expected but still a decent serving size. Thought this place is deep into pleasant hill and may be tucked away it's worth the try! This is our neighborhood restaurant and our usual go-to place when I'm tired to cook for dinner. Overtime, we've noticed transitions and changes, I would say food is not that great than before but for me, Thai food is comforting. Staff are nice, food presentation is good like any other Thai restaurants. It's sad to see a sign posted on their door saying there would be a change of ownership and they started renovating/redecorating again. Thai Village in Pleasant Hill is absolutely delicious! I had a team building luncheon here and the food and service did not disappoint. They have great lunch specials and I ordered the Thai Prik Khing and it was so good I look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu. Their menu has lots of breakfast and lunch options at good prices. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and was filled with locals and Door Dash drivers waiting to pick up their orders for take out. It appears that Thai Village has had a change in management in recent months. The interior has been redecorated and to my eye some of the former ambiance is missing. A friend and I have long called Thai Village our favorite place to celebrate our birthdays. After our latest lunch, we agreed that we will -- sadly -- be looking for a new Thai restaurant. We both had chicken dishes with a side of brown rice (extra charge). The meal began with a small salad, essentially spring green mix with a few shredded carrots and a drizzle of dressing. Am not a fan of spring green mix -- no substance to it. The entree and rice dishes were nicely presented on a white tray which also held a small dish of those colorful chips often found in Thai restaurants. Am sure some people like those chips. Pardon me if you, dear reader, are one. But like spring green mix, they lack substance. They remind me of styrofoam. The heat of both entrees was off. I ordered medium and found my chicken dish was more on the HOT side. My friend ordered Hot and declared her dish was TOO HOT. The server blamed it on a recent order of peppers. So order with caution! I had the opposite problem with my hot tea. A nice presentation, but the tea was room temperature. Back it went. Again, the server had an excuse ... the pot was not turned on. The final straw for me was the restroom. I had to pass by the kitchen to reach it and found two open doors. The interior door near the kitchen was propped open. Easy enough to close. The other door was a problem. Outside that door, two women were prepping some raw chicken. Whatever they were doing required an electrical outlet in the restroom so the door could not be fully closed. They relunctantly unplugged the cord so I could fully shut the door. While the restroom was clean, the whole setup with food prep just steps away struck me as very, very odd. Will not be returning. read more

Went there for lunch with my brother and his wife, mid week. The place was almost empty at lunchtime. Their food was delicious, and the service was very good. The lunch special comes with a salad, broth soup, rice, some veggies rolls and sliced fresh fruit. The salad dressing is wonderful! I wanted to buy some to take home but they wouldn't sell me any. It's sweet and creamy...maybe mango honey dressing? I had the green curry chicken...very tasty. They serve your food on a platter with each item in a separate bowl. Ordered yellow curry, and was surprised to see that it didn't come with rice when I came to pick it up. so I paid and extra 2.50$ for it, just for them to not even fill it up the container all the way. The curry itself was extraordinarily bland and way too sweet. I've been to many Thai places, and I love all curry, but this was by far one of the worst I've had in a while. I couldn't even take more than a couple bites. Quite a disappointing experience for my first time ordering here. This restaurant location has been a neighborhood staple but has changed ownership several times. I thought I would try this restaurant with new owners. I ordered the Somtam Set for $16.95 for take out. The description was spicy papaya salad with fried chicken and sticky rice. The salad was tasty but the papaya had an odd texture like it's from a jar and not fresh. I was very disappointed with the "fried chicken". All I got was 4 small overcooked and dried chicken wing pieces that were not freshly fried and was tasteless. The menu description was a bit misleading and should have been described as 4 chicken wing pieces. The sticky rice was also not fresh and was not made within a couple of hours. When we moved back to Pleasant Hill after living in different places for a long time, we were thrilled to find a Thai restaurant that we could always count on. It's been 10 years since we've gone to this Thai restaurant, and our review is long overdue :) Unfortunately, they were closed during COVID, but I was thrilled to hear that they are now open again after calling a few months ago. We used to dine in, but now we prefer to have everything to-go. We've always had a great time! Service: They always have a smile on their face. They forgot my mango and sticky rice order the last time I ordered. Although they had already contacted me to let me know about their mistake and offer to remove it from my account if I didn't want to drive back, I still picked up my phone to give them a call (as i missed their voicemail). They knew my phone number and answered the phone with my name when I called to say, "Yes, please refund it." It's not that difficult, but I've never experienced this before in my life. I was blown away. Food: The food at this restaurant is always top-notch. A few of our personal faves include the Pad Thai, the fried rice with crab and egg, the angel wing chicken, lamb kapap, and the mango sticky rice and mango. Their servings are enormous. The crab fried rice my mother always orders is enough for two people. If you come here on a leisure day, they are very willing to talk and share stories about their history. I give them my highest recommendation and will definitely be ordering again in the future! PS: so unfortunate that they are not available on UberEats, DoorDash or GrubHub. How have I been missing out on this place for so long?! I used to get my nails done right across the street and always wondered about this little restaurant. Now I know that Thai Village cooks up some bomb ass Thai cuisine! Tucked away in a small unmarked shopping center, you'll find this delicious family owned Thai food restaurant. Waltzed in on a random weekday evening and was surprised to see only one other tables filled with diners. I was greeted and seated promptly and given a menu. It's a cute little place but nothing spectacular. More cozy and homey than anything but it serves its' purpose. When it comes to Thai food, I'm pretty much a creature of habit (especially when trying a place for the first time). I usually go straight for the Thai fried rice. BUT... on this particular day, I was feeling a little adventurous. I changed it up and went for their Tom Yum Gai soup. Okay fine... this wasn't really very "adventurous" since it's one of my favorite Thai soups. Considering that I rarely order this during a first visit though, I'd say it was quite the adventure for me. And boy was it an adventure! The FOOD was just exceptional. I don't often try many different Thai food restaurants because this is a cuisine that I'm kind of picky with. Thai Village totally hit the spot for me. First off, those wonton chips made me cheese like a little kid. I didn't expect these at all and they were so yummy. Brought me back to my childhood when I first had them as a kid at a restaurant back in SoCal that I can't even remember the name of. All I remember was that crisp and crunch. Nostalgia? Bringing me back to my childhood? Well, you're already starting off at 5 stars with that one. Next came the dancing prawns appetizer. These were very different for me. Unique but still tasty. The l presentation was definitely something to see, and the flavor was something that I feel I would need to acquire. It wasn't bad by any means, but different. Basically raw style prawns cut in half and stuffed with a special sauce, served skewer style. Very different. The Tom Yum Gai was definitely the star of the show. It was so hearty and fragrant. The amount of Thai spices that were emanating throughout that bowl was kind of unreal. A soup that's good to have during any season of the year. ANY season. I've always seen this soup as an appetizer, but you can literally call this a meal here. It was packed with so much meat and veggies. Loved it to pieces. And let's not forget about the sweets! The Thai iced tea was perf. A glass full of sugar and condensed milk basically, but that's just the way that I love it. You just gotta go all the way in and indulge on the sugar when it comes to Thai tea in my opinion. I even saved room for dessert and ordered roti with condensed milk. It was lovely! So moist and sweet! Prior to this, I had only ever had savory roti. Can't believe that I've been missing out on this goodness for so long. This is a hidden gem for sure. The family who operates this restaurant is so kind and humble. And just so you know, they're native Thai. Not that there's anything wrong with non-Thai people running Thai food restaurants, but it's always amazing when you can find this kind of authenticity. Waitress did not greet us when we walked in, I had to be the first one to say hello after standing there for almost a minute (awkward) and she still did not say it back, only asked how many people.
