Great little restaurant! Long wait for table (1 hour) but they took our number and called when a table was open. Worked well for us! I got the basic breakfast with a biscuit and it was great! The biscuit was so flaky and it was served with real butter and strawberry jam. Breakfast potatoes were seasoned well and were not the usual hash browns but rather roasted chunks. Very tasty! My husband got the Eggs Harper Rose and he really enjoyed it. It was a unique and delicious breakfast entree served again with a delicious flaky biscuit. Service was friendly and quick. True to the name you have to get a real biscuit. Since culinary school with my master chef Mike I haven't had it this good! No mistake the absolute light, flakey buttery real biscuits. I had the Lilly's Hash and it was every bit as deliciousness every bite as described. We totally will be back to try more! Great service and food worthy of master chef approval. Loved the coffee too! Great food. Took us about 40 minutes to get a table. I wish they had open table or yelp waitlist but once we got seated service and food was quick. We shared French toast Berry's and cream and breakfast tacos. Both were great but I'm glad we shared because the French toast was really sweet and would have been a lot to only have that without anything savory to break it up. Can't wait to go back! This is my favorite breakfast spot in Holland! However, be prepared to wait. Whenever I go, there's at least a 45 minute wait. And there's no call ahead seating (even though I live a mile away). It's worth the wait! They make homemade biscuits there (hence the name). Plus homemade jam. You MUST get a biscuit (or 2). They're AMAZING!! Found this gem while in town for a wedding. Went for breakfast around 9:45am and had to wait about 25 min but it was well worth it! Our server was top notch and super attentive. I had the special scramble and my husband had the chorizo scramble. Heaven in my mouth! Biscuits are scratch made with homemade strawberry jam and melt in your mouth. This was a super cute little place to grab breakfast. The service was quick and extremely friendly! The waitress kept drinks filled the whole time, the food came out quickly, and was it absolutely delicious. I got the Spanish bennies and it was fantastic. My friend got the biscuits and gravy and the gravy flavor was remarkable! It was surprisingly light compared to other super heavy gravies I've had in the past. Great place for brunch! Hostess was wonderfully warm and engaging, especially since it was a packed house waiting for tables. Sausage gravy and biscuits was perfect! Gravy comes in a separate cup so you can determine how much you want to eat of it. Waitstaff was attentive and available, answered all our questions regarding the menu. read more

We stopped here on the way home from Grand Rapids for brunch. I really enjoyed the food, as did my husband; everything we ordered came out quickly and was hot and delicious. However, it's hard not to be slightly disgruntled at the horrible waitress we had. The lady who sat us was very nice, as was the guy who put our name on the waiting list, but this waitress was just awful. At first it was mostly just that she didn't say or do much beyond take our orders (no small talk, didn't ask if we had questions, etc.) and then it became slightly ridiculous to get refills on coffee. It was almost as if she was deliberately ignoring my husband. The worst though, was when she laid down the check and started to walk away (again, not saying anything like "thanks", "have a good day") and I asked if we paid in the front. She gave me this look and response as if I was an idiot. We couldn't believe how rude it was; we actually laughed about it in disbelief! I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what, but that's unacceptable. We were extremely polite and pretty low maintenance, so I don't understand why we were treated that way. As a result, the next time we're in the area we will NOT be back. read more

We drove from our cabin in Fennville to Holland because the menu seemed unique and the reviews were good. I loved the atmosphere, very artsy with a touch of cuteness (A quote from one of the owner's daughters is painted on a wall for all customers to see.) They had a nice selection of teas and their menu was definitely very interesting. It seemed like the local hang out for brunch, so that was also pretty cool. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I ordered their Spanish Benny and Tim ordered the biscuits and gravy, which were both served room temperature to cold. My hollandaise sauce and his gravy were both bland as well. I really want to give it more than 2 stars, but the food was the deal breaker. It is a restaurant, after all. read more

It also was around 10 dollars which was definitely expensive. My friend had a spicy chorizo type omelette. He liked it. I had the Sedona scramble and it was amazing. Other people in my party had biscuits and gravy, apple hash and eggs and the buttermilk pancakes. Everything came out quick and it was perfect. Our waitress was very busy but she checked up on us frequently. I live in Holland and I will definitively be back for lunch next time and for breakfast. I would say my first impression of this place is that it's cute and homey looking, but the overwhelming mildew smell in both rooms almost ruined my entire day. I cannot believe I am the first person to notice this! I ordered a greek salad, and I'd say it was just passable... could have used more than a few crumbles of feta cheese, and the dressing was pretty tasteless. It also included artichoke hearts (which don't really belong, in my opinion, but I do like them), however I am almost POSTIVE the pre-tossed dressing over everything was what comes out of a jar of marinated artichokes. Our waitress seemed a little young and clueless- she first asked if I wanted cole slaw or chips with my salad (??) and I asked for chips just see what would happen. (she realized later that she made a mistake). I also thought it was a bit weird that she was asking us personal questions, like, curious what we had planned for the day, and then later asking if lived in Holland- like why would she want to know that? Maybe we looked like tourists? Strange. To be fair though, she was quick with the coffee refills, fast to get our check and run our CC, and was nice overall. My husband got eggs/meat/toast, and really enjoyed his meal. The rye bread toast (swirled rye) looked great, and he said it was good. My coffee was good and strong, and super-hot. read more

I am so glad this place has been added to Washington Square. What a nice spot to get together and have a meal. I got a cappuccino here and they make their own caramel syrup. It was delicious. I was tempted to get another one to go. I got the Eggs Harper Rose, and it was pretty good. The portion was smaller than I expected. The harsh thing to say is that it's a glorified breakfast sandwich, and if there were potatoes or something on the side I might feel differently - like I had gotten my money's worth because it is basically $8 for a breakfast sandwich. I feel like I should have gotten something else where I felt like my plate was filled. I would still come back though. My mom saw The Biscuit being promoted on the local news channel, so off we went to Holland for some brunch. A cute, quaint, restaurant in downtown Holland. Definitely full of locals- walked in, and most of the restaurant consisted of gray hair. Nonetheless, we were seated right away. I was about to order the berries and cream french toast..and they informed me that they were out of brioche french toast. What???? It's in at least two of your menu items...you couldn't tell me this before???? Sadness. Instead, they substituted their walnut and cranberry focaccia bread instead. Nonetheless, it was a good substitution- the bread was light and fluffy, and the combination of fresh berries plus berry flavored mascarpone cheese and cream was super light, refreshing, and tasty. My parents split the eggs liliana- pork hash and tomato gravy. My mom thought the potato was a tad overdone...but they commented the flavor was good with the entire tomato gravy sauce flavors. They also enjoyed the biscuit. Overall, they gave it an "it was okay...I've had better." They liked my dish better. So, definitely go here for french toast.... for the price they charge, the portions are not really up to par with the price, so the portions could be bigger...and don't run out of ingredients!
