We enjoyed the Sunday brunch today. Friendly and good service. Omelets were cooked to order and both were tender and ample. Pastries were sweet and tasty. Eggs Benedict was slightly over cooked. We shared a fresh fruit plate with pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and orange slices. Coffee was good and the Mimosas were the best way to drink orange juice. I recently had a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. Matt Zamora was my contact and was very accommodating in helping me plan the party. We had 30 guests. The menu consisted of 4 dinner choices, one being steak which was served exactly as each guest requested. Feedback from the guests was very positive. Food was served in a timely manner and our waitress was great. Their private banquet room was perfect for the event and was set up as requested when we arrived at 3:30pm to decorate. We like Bourbon Grill a lot. The new patio is great, we were there on Wednesday. Small but nice. Gas heaters warmed it up quickly. We were looking for an alternative place for a hearty piece of beef/pork and since the BG was nearby we tried it out. My fiancé ordered a 14oz porterhouse pork chop and I ordered a bowl of the soup of the day (chicken tortilla). The soup was average, I've had much better in Santa Fe. The pork chop was terrific. It would serve two for sure! For dessert we had the pecan pie alamode. It was ok but baked different than we were used to. Next time we will try a steak (a little pricy) but seeing others, definitely worth a try! read more

Terrible service.. we were asked if we wanted bread. We said yes, which never came.. our salad dressing was sour and carbonated so seemed spoiled.. was still charged for salads. Our Pasilla pepper was cold. Ordered a filet and got a over cooked rubbery sirloin, when we questioned it our waiter said we were incorrect. Excellent atmosphere! I grew up going to the Steaksmith, so I was wary of trying the Bourbon Grill. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the new decor and homey atmosphere. They had a mariachi band playing and it was very lively. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the food came out a little late. I don't think they were expecting such a rush and I think they were understaffed. For a new, small business, they are really trying to change things up and the menu was diverse and delicious. I'm happy that they have turned one of my childhood spots into a spot I'd like to visit more often. Thanks! read more

Been here several times. Always reliable for a good meal and is pretty good service. It's like two restaurants in one. There is more of an upscale bar with a few tvs and sports on one side and more of a nice family dining experience on the other. When you're sitting in one area you don't know the other exists. It's pretty clever. My wife and I sat on the family dining side last night for our anniversary and both ordered prime rib. The prime rib was really good and we had crème brûlée for dessert, also very very good. We didn't order any alcohol and the bill was about 60 bucks. Not bad at all. Will definitely go back. We had superb service from Jonathan, which really enhanced our dining experience. What a lovely young man. I had the small cut of prime rib with a delicious baked potato and good dinner salad plus an added side of mushrooms. My end cut prime rib didn't appear to have any seasoning or rub so the result was pretty bland. It was cooked to my desired level of medium even though it was an end cut, which I appreciated. My mushrooms were boring. I only ate two. Again, no seasoning that gave them a good flavor. The baked potato with sour creme, chives, real bacon, and real butter was delicious. We asked for extra cucumbers on our dinner salad in lieu of red tomatoes and added avocado. It was fresh and quite good. My dinner companion ordered the small filet mignon, which she thought was very good. We both very much enjoyed the roasted poblano pepper on each of our plates. Carol had come to an event here earlier in the week. She said the Bourbon Sangria was dang good but we weren't in the mood for a cocktail. We had an excellent meal here last week while visiting on vacation. We are vegetarian and weren't sure we'd find much, but were pleasantly surprised by how many choices we had. The cheese stuffed pepper appetizer was really good and not too spicy so my young kids even enjoyed it. My son loves pizza and ordered the margarita flat bread from the bar menu. He loved it but if you have a kid who doesn't like balsamic you might ask for it without the drizzle. My daughter had the mac and cheese from the kids menu and seemed very happy with the meal. My husband had the vegetarian meal from the main dinner menu - it was grilled poblano stuffed with couscous and served with grilled veggies that he loved (even the mushrooms and he generally doesn't like those). I had an excellent salad with grilled stone fruit and friend cheese. I haven't had a salad that good in a long time and it was a nice break from the heavy but delicious New Mexican food we'd had the rest of our trip. I highly recommend the Bourbon Grill for a nice meal a little outside of the hustle and bustle of the plaza - it was just what we needed. read more

Excellent experience with both the service & the cuisine. Having moved from Santa Fe & just returned, I remembered the restaurant as being Steaksmith. At first I was a bit disappointed; until I sat down & had my meal. I ate the spinach balls (tasted just as I remembered) & the Chicken Schnitzel. Both were delicious. The server was attentive, friendly & helpful. The ambience is laid back, with the Santa Fe vibe. If you're new to Santa Fe or just visiting, you should definitely check it out, especially if you're looking for a "locals" type of setting. read more

Terrible idea to try and have a nice steak dinner here. While the server was very sweet, she brought our water and then never refilled them, even after coming back only one more time to see how we were doing. Ordered everything straight off the menu, no substitutions, nothing fancy. My husband ordered a filet mignon, medium rare, and a baked potato, everything on it. My mother ordered a grilled sirloin, medium well, and baked potato. What we got nearly half an hour later was a well-done sirloin with vegetables, and the most butchered steak I have ever seen with vegetables. We were so baffled we thought they had the wrong table with the order. Luckily, my mom was kind enough to excuse the over cooked beef and asked to just get her potato. My husband's steak (the butchered one) was not only NOT a filet mignon, it was a tri-tip that had nearly been cut in HALF to check its done-ness. Now. I will give them the benefit of the doubt: their best cooks are hopefully still on Christmas break, but really? We came at just after 6pm, prime dinner time, so you should be on your game. Also, if your job is to cook steak and you have to bludgeon a piece of meat, THE WRONG CUT of meat, to see if it is properly done, that is an inexcusable issue for a meal that runs almost $30. When the plate came back nearly 15 minutes later, there technically was a steak and a potato, not fully loaded as ordered, but a potato. The meat was AGAIN a tri-tip and it was medium, but by that point we just wanted to eat and get out as quickly as possible. The servers were sweet, but made no attempt to apologize for the numerous errors. I am so thankful we had gift cards because under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will we ever eat there again. If I could give this restaurant no points, I would. We took friends for New Year's Eve. From the beginning it was so bad that it was almost comical. Our reservation could not be located, Because despite spelling the last name twice, they just picked a random name. Only the phone number saved us. We were seated, given water and then . . . nothing. Til 20 minutes later we flagged down a passing waiter and asked. Soup and salad service? Two of us ordered soup, the other two salad. The soup came and then, when it was almost gone, one of the salads appeared. After again having to ask, the second salad was served. On to entrees. One entree (prime rib) was not only cold - even the baked potato, but the size was apparently a child's portion. One entree was totally incorrect, and the correct entree was delivered when the rest of the table was almost done eating. The they waiter told us that we needed to order our desert immediately, because the kitchen was closing. At 9:30,on New Year's Eve. To add insult to injury, a comment to the restaurant sent via their website has gone unanswered for four days now. Not an apology or a we'll do better next time. We will never go there again, and you shouldn't either. read more

So disappointed. I planned to take my friend here for a nice birthday dinner, as we'd loved Steaksmith, and were looking forward to checking out a new restaurant close to us. The hostess was nice and seated us right away, and the menu looked fantastic. That was the good part. We waited 25 minutes without being greeted by wait staff. A busboy brought us water, but no one else came by. The woman I assumed was our waitress spent the entire 25 minutes folding napkins around silverware at the bar. I tried a number of times to catch her eye, and I could have sworn she saw me waving, but each time she immediately looked back down and continued with the silverware. Was this our intended waitress? Maybe not, but she was certainly an employee, so the least she could have done was locate the appropriate staff to come to our table. We considered going to the hostess stand to ask for service, but figured that if no one could be bothered to come to our table, that didn't bode well for a good meal, so we decided to leave. As we got near the exit, an employee (maybe the manager?) asked if everything was ok. My dining companion said, "No, we never got service" and rather than apologize immediately and do something like offer us a cocktail on the house, the manager turned away and asked the hostess if she'd seen us waiting. I can't comment on the cocktails or the food, as we didn't ever get to try either. It's a shame, as we used to enjoy going to Steaksmith a few times a month and had hoped to find a new local place to enjoy regularly. With Harry's right next door and Santa Fe only a few more miles down the road, pretty sure we won't be trying this place again. read more

First the good: The service is great especially for Santa Fe where it frequently is bad. Our server Tiffany was really friendly and attentive. The rest of the staff from the hostesses to the bussers were doing a fine job as well. Next the not so good:It is just not the Steaksmith. I admit It is difficult to be objective as the Steaksmith is a local institution and most people going to The Bourbon Grill will be comparing the two. However nothing was so spectacular that we thought "Yeah, this is different but still really good." We did not eat in the main dining room we sat in the bar and ordered from the bar menu which is what we always have done in the past. First the prices are MUCH higher and the food is just not as good. The spinach cheese balls were the same except for the sauce. They used to be served with a warm citrus hollandaise and now have a cold red chili cream sauce on them. The drinks were very weak and my husband said his Margarita was the worst he ever had. I had the teriyaki steak skewers the they were ok my husband had a steak sandwich which was also just ok. For dessert we ordered 1 chocolate mousse to share it was watery not set up properly at all. The total for this was $70 before tip for 2 mixed drinks, 1 appetizer,2 bar menu entrees and 1 dessert. read more

20 years of spinach cheese balls . I had to go! Unfortunately they were soggy and salty. The sauce was basic mayo and ketchup poured over, instead of the Asiago cheese sauce I remember. The signature Burger was cooked well and very tasty with fresh cut fries. Shrimp scampi was below par. Shrimp was too fishy and $24.95 you think the portion would be bigger. I sat at the bar watching 2 employees cook basic burger and appetizers. Saw one cook touch raw meat and not wash his hands. Came on a Sunday night. Reservations were at 6:30. We are locals and brought family from out of town to have a nice dinner. We sat in the lounge. Service was intermittent if not absent. Staff was very young and seemed to feel like we were a bother. Once our food came, right after our salads came.. no time in between... we were abandoned. Had to go up to the bar to order a beverage. Never had our water refilled. We were told by the bartender that last call was a long time ago. We were never told this. This was supposed to be a nice relaxing dinner. Instead we were rushed and getting dirty looks from the staff. We are regulars and this is our date night spot... even before it was Bourbon Grill. We've dropped a lot of money here in the past. We are now questioning if we come back ourselves much less bring out of town guests here... sad... read more

The first thing you notice is the smell. It smells like chlorine, because the restaurant shares a wall with the El Gancho fitness center and its indoor pool. So it's a little jarring to sit down in a restaurant and the air has a distinct pool smell to it. You get used to it and it goes away after a few minutes (or after the drinks start taking effect). The food was bland. Prime ribs did not seem prime. Meat was rather flavorless and felt old. Mashed potatoes were flavorless. Sauce was clearly a sauce, I could see it with my eyes, and it sloshed around like sauce, but when tasted, it was flavorless. The service was okay, but they never re-filled the water glasses. I guess they were hoping everybody would order more drinks (and spend more money). The place was almost entirely empty. Eventually a few tables had customers but it did not give one confidence that the Bourbon was going to be a lasting business. Bottom line: it was okay, but like Yelp suggests, "Meh. I've experienced better." They're going to have to improve the tastiness of the food, especially considering the behemoth of Harry's Roadhouse practically across the street, which draws in a packed house every single day, morning noon and night. Hopefully in time Bourbon will improve and we'll try it again. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. When we first walked in, the smell of chlorine from the nearby indoor swimming pool was very strong. The dining room is austere, with no decor and the windows have fogged which gives the room a shabby appearance. The main entrees are relatively expensive at $23 to $40 so we opted for the steak sandwich on the bar menu. The sandwiches were mediocre. And last, all through out our meal, a trio of diners at the next table had a cell phone call, set on speaker. At the point when they asked the woman on the line what the weather was like, I was stunned by this lack of consideration. So this wasn't a call about a close relative on life-support. On the way out, we asked one of the staff if they had a policy about cell phones and he said no. We told him we won't be back. read more

I had a shrimp salad that had almost no flavor and my husband had the filet. Typically filet should be the most tender cut but his had a lot of fat leaving me to believe it wasn't filet at all. I have been to the Bourbon Grill twice. Both times, the food was excellent. Our first time was when they first opened, so things were appropriately busy and improving. The second time was great. The attentive service is hugely appreciated, and a pleasant change for SF. I highly object with other reviews, comparing The Bourbon Grill to the Steaksmith. First of all, there is no comparison. The steak smith was worn out, filthy and plagued with low quality food and service. It is easy to be nostalgic about the past, but lets be honest, the Steaksmith was not good. On the other hand, the Bourbon Grill has dramatically improved the quality of their meat and food products. The steak is prime, the sides are great and the wine choices are superb. I guess if your idea of a good restaurant is to go and order the cheapest item off the bar menu, and complain that they changed the sauce, go for it. However, if you want an excellent steak, and would prefer to pay the proper price for a great steak, as opposed to $18 for a below average steak, then, again, go for it. We live in the area and rarely ate at the previous restaurant. We had a good experience at the Bourbon Grill. The food was tasty, the bar is now very nice and the service was excellent. I think that the menus is too narrow in choices .. Steak and potatoes and expensive seafood. Perfect for a special occasion but I'd like to see a creative special that changes frequently. I think the creative specials is one of the things that makes Harry's so fun to eat at. We will go back to Bourbon Grill .. The bar menu had a little more variety. BTW I liked the red chile hollandaise.. Not the same as Steaksmiths but good none the less. read more

The Bourbon Grill was an incredible experience. The service was outstanding, the food fresh and delicious, and great vibe (there were great flowers!). We ordered 2 beers, fresh oysters, shrimp jeanie, hot buffalo wings, ribs, and the fresh fish mahi mahi special, home made ice cream, and chocolate cheesecake. Everything was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, lots of gluten free options, and very large portions. Highly recommend and cannot wait to come back. read more
