As the reviews clearly state, TOP NOTCH place even after our UNFORTUNATE situation... Corporate should seriously consider giving these people some sort of award at this location lol. They are nothing but class. Back in 2021 when I first moved to the area my parents came to visit for Christmas. Without looking at reviews or asking around I came across capital grille and booked it for our "Christmas dinner." When we arrived we got seated at a beautifully set table and was served by an extremely friendly wait staff. Long story short, this was the first time I've ever heard my critic of a father say he loved his meal. Overall 1000/10 experience. Unfortunately I was late to the game the following year and couldn't get a reservation but did for 2024! 2/17/2024 - We had a reservation for 7:30. I had dropped my sister and mom off at the door to get our table as my dad and I found parking. We had to park far away so I guess my mother was standing at the door waiting for us so we weren't searching for the table we were seated at and a lady came around and asked if everything was ok. My mom said yes and that she was just waiting for us and the lady said "if you are waiting any longer, I'm bringing you a martini on us!" Like ok wow first of all lol. We sat down and ordered the crab app. and calamari, 2 glasses of wine and 2 bourbons. Our waitress was beyond friendly, wish I remembered her name. We placed our order and around 10 mins later the fire alarms started going off. Management came around to tell us everything was ok and there was no need to evacuate. Turned out there was a grease fire in the kitchen and the kitchen could no longer continue making food for the night. A very unfortunate thing. Our waitress came over and told us and was super apologetic about it and told us to stay and finish our apps and drinks no charge to us. We did, left her a generous tip as she was indeed great and we left. As we were walking out not a single person at that place looked upset or mad that they weren't getting food, as I really believe the service was that great that people couldn't be mad. We walked across the street and got the last open bar table and ate there. We sat by the window and not even kidding, we watched valet parking at the capital grille get all the cars out in maybe 5-10 mins tops. Like, they got everyone out as quickly as they could so no one left frustrated. It was pretty impressive lol. The following day, around lunchtime l received a call from the manager. His words... " Hello this is ___ from the capital grille and we wanted to thoroughly apologize for last nights incident. We are really embarrassed. We never wanted your Christmas dinner to turn out like that. (I had put on the reservations when I made it that this was our Christmas dinner together since my parents came out a few months after Christmas). I hope you are willing to come back and let us make it up to you at some point. " I responded reassuring him that things happen, we absolutely love the place, we will in fact be returning, and that it was very unnecessary but appreciated that he took the time and called us. Even after all that happened, this was actually such a positive and great experience. This place was PACKED and they definitely lost out on A LOT of money that night yet they were nothing but great. Then they took the time to call us to apologize? I have never had that happen before. I will seriously be contacting corporate. They really deserve the recognition. Gosh, where do I even begin... I guess I was just super disappointed with this place from the very start. When my friend and I walked in for our 11:30 reservation (we got inside by 11:34) the lady at the counter told us our table would be just ready. While we were waiting, a larger group of over 15 walked in and were seated right away, and then another group of 3, who had reservations for 11:45 were also seated right away...Then another person came behind the counter and asked if we had been helped, so I told her we were waiting for our 11:30 reservation, and she said we will seat you right away. Then another group of 2 came in for reservations at 11:30 and were seated before us. Finally, our original host came back after seating the other groups and then seated us....by this time, I'm really shocked that this just happened, but once we were seated, our waiter came right away and took care of us. He was amazing!! He asked us our orders, went over the menu, made sure our drinks were always full, and kept checking in to see if we needed anything else. If it wasn't for our waiter, I probably would've just left and gone to another restaurant next door. As for the food, everything was just OK. I've definitely had better food from restaurants nearby. I enjoyed the corn soup, but the sirloin burgers were just average as well as the truffle fries. We ended our meal with the creme brulee which was also average. This is the public school giving chances to cut decent quality steak in decent prices. I am not the person who eats steaks in franchise restaurant, thinking their lacking conviviality with locals, less home-made, less specialities, no old school, no history, but inflated prices. However, this steak house stands out in our neighborhood steakhouses with decent quality of steaks. Coming here on Monday lunch, it's very nice to celebrate bday, nice ambiences with comfortable chairs, clean table clothes, and friendly services, no crowded at all. We ordered French Onion Soup, Clam Chowders, New York Steaks, and Filet Mignon as we seated. Due to the fact, this is the steak house, I had to focus on the steak first. Steaks were superb with lots of flavor, right seasoning, perfect chars, and well aged, and perfect sizes. The reason people coming steak house is to me for the experience to cut and chop bloody meat with a folk and knife, and thrust into the mouth to taste the victory of primitive in manhoods, Capital Grille is right place. We were treated like a very special guests. Our server Arif was very attentive and helpful. Ambiance - we have really enjoyed atmosphere of an upscale restaurant here. We went to the Plano location tonight. It was a wonderful meal, my husband had the filet with peppercorn sauce, I had the halibut, and we shared a wedge salad. Everything was perfectly cooked and didn't disappoint. The bread pudding for dessert was the best ever. But the standout of the dinner was the service. Our server, Jamie, was the server of the year. I wish I could take her with me to every restaurant. She is a pro, and we will ask for her when we return in a few weeks. The manager and executive chef also came by our table to say hello and see how we were enjoying our meal. I have never in all the years of restaurant meals had such gracious and friendly service. Love at first bite. The tuna tartare was everything I never knew I always needed in my life. Wow. I mean... wow. I was slightly embarrassed to be the only one doing the happy dance in such a nice place. The bartender Sean was very pleasant, helpful, and professional. They had a pineapple infused Stoli vodka that was really just the bees' knees. Suggested as a martini but I'm personally a big fan of infused liquors on the rocks with a little club soda, so I did that and it did not disappoint. We waited 20 minutes before we reminded her. She then proceeded to not be bothered to take our entree order. Look, I understand a book can't be judged by its cover -- but my cover doesn't say they are broke and not spending a dime. That's not me being conceded, facts are facts. As complete strangers she doesn't know if we have a home in Monaco and summer with Bezos or live in a trailer park. You respect EVERYONE. From rags to riches. Doesn't matter. Your money spends the same way money does. I'd say this is a teaching experience, but my gut says it's not even worth it. I am a fan of this franchise, and the dinner and service matched the high standards i have come to expect from the Capital. We were seated at a nice table near the window and we had a superb serve. Andrew take care us. We were celebrating a graduation so they provided some celebratory dessert for our graduate. We started with some salads, crab cake, shrimp and the tuna tartare. Everything was very nicely presented and enjoyed. The tuna was particularly fresh and was solid red with firm content. Shrimp were solid and were large and as described. We ordered steaks and the fish. The fillet was cooked medium rare and was very tender and a nice thick cut. The fish was also perfectly cooked and had a nice vegetable bed along with a light broth. All were presented well and tasted better... We have a few sides, which included the asparagus and sautéed spinach. Both the vegetables were over salted, which was OK when you had them with the steak but alone were too salty. The Capital Grille is the perfect definition of a High end steakhouse. The ambiance is very nice tables with linens on all the tables and the waitstaff in white dress jackets. After being seated we were given an assortment of breads and flat bread. I have had better at other places but it wasn't bad. I had the aged 24oz Porterhouse and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and tastes amazing. The steak was not over seasoned and had a great aged flavor. My wife and daughter shared a aged filet and it too was very tender and had amazing flavor. For sides we all shared the mashed potatoes and the lobster mac cheese and both were delicious. For dessert we had chocolate cake with port infused cherries and vanilla ice cream and it was over the top good. The only thing I can say negative about the evening was the drinks and we tried several and didn't care for them. Great food! Subpar service :/ My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner. We had a great table with a view of Christmas lights. The suggestions for our appetizers and meal were delicious! We were very satisfied with the food! But the disappointing part was that we had to wait 5-10 minutes until the waiter came back to our table because they forgot to give us utensils . We were promptly seated at the perfect table - quiet - which works well with hearing aids. We could actually talk. Our server, Christopher, arrived with toasts and a welcoming attitude. The toasts were followed by recommendations, fresh bread and water. Then calamari, which was excellent. I had a strip which was well prepared with an Oscar topping and the birthday girl had scallops. It was a last minute decision to spend another night in Plano, TX in order that I could meet a former British Airways colleague for lunch. Whilst waiting for Christian, Paula and Catalina to arrive, Lady Lural and I caught up on old times with an Adult Only Arnold Palmer (Stolichnaya Elit Vodka, fresh crushed mint lemonade and fresh brewed iced tea. Garnished with fresh lemon and mint) for Lady Lural and I opted for a glass of the Raeburn Russian River Chardonnay. Once the luncheon party guests were all in attendance, it was time to order. I took the Plates/20 and upgraded my starter to the Lobster bisque and the Ancho Rubbed Sirloin for my entrée. I thought that the Lobster Bisque at one of my favorite Austin venues was the best but Capital Grille's Lobster Bisque was rich and creamy and loaded with scrumptious lobster and was absolutely beyond. The medium Ancho Rubbed Sirloin was with tomato jam and Summer Potato Salad. The Sirloin was executed perfectly and enhanced with the tomato jam and the Summer Fingerling Potato Salad which was a first for me and will certainly not be the last!. My niece ordered the Warm Double Chocolate Cake with Port Wine Infused Cherries and Ice Cream that unfortunately for her, she couldn't finish so fortunate for me, I could. It was absolutely devine. Everyone who came by the table seemed genuinely concerned about our dining experience. We were asked by several different employees if they could assist us with anything. Clam chowder was as fresh and oceany as possible. So creamy and rich. Yummmm. My sirloin was cooked to perfection but it tasted like it needed more seasoning. It was hard to tell if that was done on purpose to show off the awesomeness of the meat or if it was forgotten. Regardless, I ate every bit of it. And the accompanying green beans and mashed potatoes were perfect. My husband's filet mignon was like butter. The dessert was portioned just right because it was so rich. I kept taking a small bite of it and saying that was all I was going to eat because the richness was overwhelming but for some reason I ate the whole thing... The only complaint I have was the lighting. I saw both the wait staff as well as customers struggling to see what they were doing. Customers were using their cell phones and waiters were using flashlights to read customer's receipt. I'm pretty sure that I have mentioned this before, but when my father comes down to Texas he likes to get a good steak. We have been to many of the high end steak places around DFW and there is always one more that someone says is the best. Like the last time (Steve Field's Steak & Lobster) I did a search on Yelp and found the Capital Grille. Surprisingly my father had been to the Capital Grille, in New Jersey. I didn't know it was a chain. But when a place is this good, does it really matter? When you go to a place like this you have certain expectations, and amazing service is one of them. We didn't have one server, we had two going tag team on the three of us. We ordered drinks and then we were given a quick little bite to eat. A wine soaked apricot with smokey bacon and bleu cheese crumbles. Personally, i'm not a fan of apricots, but this little bite had it all. Sweet, meaty, smokey, creamy. If there was a little heat kick to it it would have been Nirvana in one mouthful. Kind of surprising but it's little touches like that, that make a restaurant a five star kind of place. We had a great selection of bread and pita crisps (?) and then it was time to look forward to the rest of the meal. We spilt the Capital Grille Chopped salad amongst the three of us and there was more than enough for us to be satisfied. Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, artichokes, cheese, asparagus and a clean tasting olive vinagrette. Very satisfying. Next on the hit list were the main courses. I had the Double Cut Lamb Rib Chops and they were like butter. Four chops with minimal seasoning and they didn't need anything else with them. They came with a rasberry mustard, and I didn't even look at it. These chops were perfect and nothing but the bones were left behind. My father and brother both had the Bone-In Kona Crusted Sirloin and they too didn't have any problems finishing off their hunks of protein. Everything is A La Carte so we chose two sides as well and there were many to choose, from French Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach, Mushrooms and Creamed Corn. We had the last two and those mushrooms were simply perfect. Cremini, Portabella, Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms with very little spice and they didn't need it. The creamed corn had flecks of bacon through it and we all know bacon makes everything better. Somehow we had room for dessert and there was room for a slice of chocolate hazelnut cake. It was large enough for all three of us and then we were all toast. It pains me to write this review as The Capital Grille (this particular location) has always been a favorite of ours. What really (usually) sets them apart is their service. This is why we chose to come here for our first year wedding anniversary. Unfortunately this is one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had and knowing that we paid over $200 for it, just added insult to injury. We ordered the Lobster and crab cakes, Porcini rubbed Delmonico Ribeye, lobster mac n cheese, creamed spinach and the 2 lb lobster to share. The lobster and crab cakes, creamed spinach, lobster mac n cheese, and 2lb lobster were all pretty good, but the steak is where things took a turn for the worst. We frequently order ribeyes so we understand that it is a fattier cut of meat which usually results in a more marbled and flavorful experience. Now yes, the steak was very flavorful, but there was so much gristle/sinew that my husband couldn't even finish his first bite. He chewed on it for nearly 15 minutes before finally spitting it into his napkin. Now let me just note that our server Ashe (Ashley) hardly ever came by and we even had to ask random waiters to send our server by several times (for instance when we wanted to order another drink or when we needed steak knives because they brought out our steak without them). When she finally came to check on us, we politely told her that although the flavor of the steak was delicious, it was so chewy that we could barely eat it. I even pointed out that my husband had to spit his bite out in his napkin. Well for whatever reason, she felt zero need to remedy the situation and only latched onto the polite part of my statement. She simply replied with a huge smile "Well at least the taste was delicious!!" and walked away as if spitting steak into a napkin is normal. She didn't ask if we wanted something else nor did she ask if we would like different cut of meat or make any attempt whatsoever to make it better. I shrugged it off thinking that maybe we would see it taken care of on our bill, but when we got it, there it was.... $56 for a steak that we couldn't even chew and had to spit out. WOW. The service is USUALLY what puts this restaurant over the top, but the fact that our server thought it was acceptable to ignore our feedback about our steak being inedible actually blows my mind. This would have been bad at any restaurant on any given occasion, but the fact that it was at what is supposed to be a "fine dining" restaurant and it was our first anniversary just put a really bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). This dining experience was really disappointing in every way. Needless to say, we won't be back :( read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Capital Grille at Legacy. The food was superb as always and our waiter was very professional and attentive. What made our experience horrible was an evidently very drunk woman two tables down, who was cacklIng and screaming so loud that conversation was very difficult, and Nobody from management asking her to keep her voice to a tolerable level. Management should have taken action but apparently they do not care how uncomfortable their guests are as long as they can make more money out of the alcohol they sell. I could see that the people sitting next to us left as soon as they finished eating and so did we. That is why I"m giving the restaurant a 2 star rating. I will not return. read more
