I went with friends for a Sunday brunch. It was busy, but there are lots of tables and our party of 6 had to wait about 20 minutes. There were large parties in front of us but the queue moved fast. We went to the hangout because it was conveniently located to Rossmoor and what an amazing place! OK here's the bad first. There was a yelp sign up sign when we went in. We signed up to be on the waitlist and we stood outside for like at least 12 minutes and it was obviously not crowded and there were lots of tables so I went in and the gal right away said "oh let me seat you" and I said @well I've been waiting all this time" and she said "oh I'm sorry no we're not using that" so that kind of was bad and I thought oh no, is this going to be an indicator of what's to come? Luckily it wasn't. We had the best service and the sweetest most patient server. The food was phenomenal. We ordered a wide variety of things. First to drink Thai iced tea and lavender mocha tea drink both were amazing. The food we had were the Loco Moco which my friend loved. My other friend had the garlic noodles with the chicken, and we all tasted the garlic noodles and they were so good. My other friend had a curry chicken dish which she loved and I had an Egg, bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich put on the brioche instead of the ciabatta with roasted potatoes oh my gosh, it was so good and huge. The servings were so huge. Now the price was also huge for everything but I think it's cause the servings are so big. I would rather pay less and have smaller servings especially people near Rossmoor because we're old and we don't have that big of appetites anymore but I would still say go to this place! Make it successful because it is so much better than Creekside inside Rossmoor and this is just a little bit outside of Rossmoor. Came here a second time on a weekend around 12:30. I put my name on the waitlist and the approx wait time was 30 min but we were able to be seated just 10 mins after we arrived. The berry love toast looked incredible. Homemade strawberry jam was good, but I was a bit overwhelmed with everything in the toast. The texture of the toast was too mushy and soggy to my liking and couldn't hold onto the shape once it was cut due to the many fruit and cream stuffed in it. We finally had a free morning to try The Hangout for brunch. We had a short wait but got a nice warm outside table on the covered patio. Server was very friendly. We ordered a Trio Scramble, Western Omelette, and Ube pancakes. Food came out pretty quick. The food looked great and tasted good. There's nothing like bonding when your family's favorite thing to do is eating together. My sister excitedly suggest we try the hangout at their new location in Walnut Creek. Parking in the bay area can be stressful at times, but here there is a large parking lot! A friendly face is always a good start to a meal. From the first hello to the end when paying for the meal the staff have been patient and helpful. From taking a bite here and there from other plates of company and my own food, we all have come to the conclusion that the food is delicious! Might I add the portions are more than plenty. My favorite is the garlic noodle with crispy chicken. The savory garlic noodles weren't soggy at all and paired well with the crispy chicken. My husband's go to are the ube pancakes. They are balanced without being overly sweet. You can win me over with potatoes any day! They are slightly crispy and seasoned just right. We wanted to try a new place for Sunday Brunch and decided to give The Hangout a try. We had a great experience! They were very busy and there was a line of people waiting outside but we thought we'd try anyway. They have a great system. You just enter your name, phone number, and the size of your party into a device at the entry and it tells you immediately the approximate wait time and that they will test you when your table is ready. It told us 13 minutes and we had a table in 10 minutes. They took our order right away and before we knew it the food has arrived. Just check out our photos! The food is prepared beautifully. And it tastes every bit as good as it looks. The chicken and waffles are a huge portion?! The chicken was dark meat and not just chicken breast but it was moist and the batter was great. They had a unique spicy syrup that you may love but if that isn't your thing make sure to ask for regular maple syrup! The pancakes are amazing and my eggs were prepared perfect over easy. I was a little bummed that they didn't have sourdough toast but both the ciabatta and the English muffins were good options. Give the crew at the Hangout a try! I really love this location! Not sure if they have any association to the pleasant hill hangout but if it does- I'd prefer this one. Hidden gem in the plaza at Tice valley - ample parking and one stop shop for grocery, amazon returns, Starbucks, etc. The staff and service- so good. The staff was so kind to us and they were good at checking on us and filling our coffee if needed. Ube Latte- hot 5/5 Loco moco - 4/5 Chicken and waffles (didn't really like the batter on the chicken, needed a little more seasoning ) but personal preference. 3.5/5 Potatos 5/5 basic but crispy Ube pancakes - 4.5/5 could do without some of the fruit. The pancakes had good flavor, not an over obsessive Ube flavor. The glaze that goes on top wasn't too bad either. Over all good experience with my family- would like to try dinner here sometime. As usual, the spot was popping and there was a bit of a wait but it always goes fast. The service was still excellent despite being a full restaurant. Our food was fresh and delicious. Presentation is a big part of brunch for me and this place meets expectations! The potatoes are quite starchy, if you prefer that. I ordered a chai latte and that was pretty good. Driving to the Bay Area early morning, we were feeling hungry. We wanted some brunch, so decided to check to see what Yelp has. We stumbled upon The Hangout. It was on the way so we decided to drop on in. This place is located on top of a hill in a plaza with several other stores. Parking was easy, which is a plus. I saw lots of people, so we were getting our mind ready for a long wait. We entered the restaurant, and they had a tablet where you sign in with your name and number in your group. Maybe 5 minutes after doing that, our party was called. Even though the place is packed, they move quickly. The Asian fusion style brunch was a nice change to our normal brunch. I guess this is the other location. We had a basketball game down the street, and happened to come across this one. I really like the area - my kids commented that it felt like we were out of town. The area has a nice charm to it, even though it looks newly built. Looked to be busy still on this really late brunch. Got seated quick and read the menu. Very similar to the PH location. A lot of fusion stuff, but what really caught our eyes were the menu prices. Holy moly have things gotten outta hand. It's not unique to this restaurant, but just in general. Not sure when I ever saw $16 for french toast, French friggin toast. Bread, eggs, butter, syrup. Anyhoo, we ordered it anyway haha. Also got some garlic noodles with chicken. French toast was nice, a couple thick slices of soft sweet bread. Drizzled with fancy butter and some fruit randomly tossed in. The garlic noodles were amazing. Such a simple dish, but this one was very nicely done. Tons of garlic butter flavor. Came with some fried chicken on the side. Like katsu, but not really. Service was nice and friendly. And prompt. Although the actual food took a little longer than we expected. Pricey joint, but you're in a pricey area, so can't say I was too surprised. I'll come again, for sure. read more

The Hangout is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast in Walnut Creek! They have the most amazing Ube pancakes! You're probably asking what is Ube?!! It's a purple sweet potato ! The pancakes are stacked high with fresh strawberries, blueberries and grapes on top. Delicious! I also love the avocado toast with salmon! It has fresh tomatoes, avocado and pickled onions! This restaurant is located in a strip-mall near the senior development, Rossmoor. Parking is super easy in the free lot. This restaurant has some outdoor seating in the shade but it didn't look too appealing so we sat inside. The wait was only about 10 minutes on a Sunday morning, and the restaurant was full and busy. Service was good. I ordered an Iced Ube Latte just because it's so colorful, it doesn't contain coffee (you can get it with coffee if you wish), and you have a choice of milks, I chose oat milk and they were also able to make it for me less sweet, which I appreciated. The drink is a little on the bland side, but good. I had the Crispy Chicken Burger which was HUGE, I was getting Claim Jumper vibes, I had to take half home. It would be good for sharing. And then trying to be a little healthy I got the salad that came with it, instead of fries. The salad was pretty ordinary, just spring mix with a champagne dressing. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes, however we felt the food quality overall was pretty average. This is my second time at the Hangout, I've also been once to the location in Pleasant Hill. While I don't feel either will be on my regular brunch rotation, I can see why they're so popular. read more

We have been to this location a few times now as well as the one in Pleasant Hill. This one is closer to us. Each time, the wait has been minimal, if at all. If it is crowded, the counter seems to always have instant availability. The service is always great. So for the food. I'm a basic bacon and eggs kind of guy, the more bacon the better. I usually get a side of bacon with my bacon and eggs. Saying that, I do get bites of what ever Benedict or scramble or toast combo my partner gets. All are great. My partner usually does the momo's where I stick to prosecco and coffee. There is a 60 minute time limit on the momo's. Not sure I have eveer seen it implemented. The place is in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. Great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. read more

What's with the rave reviews? My sister and I recently met for a late lunch. We sat outdoors because she brought her dog. Crispy chicken salad was greasy fried chicken with a bunch of undressed lettuce! Our server was either tired, stoned or just didn't care. Afterwards both my sister & I felt sick all afternoon.
