Wonderful little spot! We visited with the kids for breakfast. The young man at the front door was very pleasant. Our server wasn't very interested in us or great service. In fact, we were never checked on. Another server brought us our food. Food was cold but still tasty. No cinnamon roles during the week was a bummer. Expensive for what we got but overall fine. I had the pleasure of working at The Hilltop for a while and can honestly say this restaurant is the best - hands down! 100% class. Not only does the ownership care for their staff, but they genuinely care for their customers (their regulars and their new guests!). The food is ALWAYS amazing and the customer service is something you won't experience elsewhere. Even the bartenders take the time to get to know you, get to know your order, and are always serving you with a smile. The Hilltop is family run restaurant and you definitely get the family feel from the second you walk in the door. They treat you like you're part of them. Highly recommend on all levels. Had a lovely experience one afternoon at Hilltop. They have really simple food that is perfect for a light lunch. I got the chili and a turkey sandwich and it was so delicious. The combination of a menu looking way better than the goods plus crappy service ruined this place for me. It was packed when we got there and sadly that made me think it was going to be good. the menu looked great to me, a whole page of unique open faced sandwiches and combinations of things you dont see all the time. Our waitress was a rude bitch. i know the job can suck, ive been there, but she was especially crusty. The 80+ age old woman in my group asked for coffee and a half an hour later asked again and the watiress had the balls to say, yes, im aware of the coffee, it is just finishing brewing right now. BULLSHIT. dont try to trick her cause shes old, you forgot it, admit it and bring it. our chicken quesadillas sucked, some items in them were hot some where cold and they forgot the sauce that was supposed to come with them til we asked, several times. the onion soup, we had been told, was the to die for item. i would barely cough for it, and why do they put half the cheese on the outside of the bowl where those of us who bite our nails cant pick it off. i like my cheese, but im not about to get a knife and go to town on the bowl. it was also freezing inside and on our way out, i had to point out a bloody band-aid on the floor to the host- when there is no way the servers and hosts didnt see this thing and just ignored it. i dont really care about it, it is nasty, but i more wanted to see if they would act surprised if i pointed it out to them. not too convincing of reactions. miserable staff with bad attitude+ mediocre food+ bloody band aid= one star read more

Still LOVE this place. It's just reopened after extensive renovations and has a much more modern interior. Still feels like a comfort food spot...with the addition of a full bar. I went for brunch and had eggs bene. Pretty good but I prefer some of the lunch items I've had in the past there. To be fair though, I am a hollandaise sauce snob so that might account why I felt a little "meh" about the meal. Tip: if you like crispy hash browns, just ask for them that way. The normal prep is far from crispy. But still great ambience, community/neighborhood joint feel and great service. read more

Talk about the GREATEST staff. This neighborhood restaurant is one of the best kept secrets of Edina. The owners treat their team and their patrons incredibly well. The menu is awesome - not a bad item on the list. Our daughter loves the kids menu and the staff always engages with her directly, which I love because it teaches her manners and skills to order her own food :) there's always a tv with the game on near by which my husband appreciates. Parking is easy and the year-round porch adds a great ambiance as well. The rebranding work is gorgeous inside. Such a cute place! We've made this our weekly weekend routine. read more

I'd agree with a lot of what other Yelpers have already noted. The menu sounds way more exciting than the food served and the clientele is on the elderly side. It makes sense because this place reminded me of Country Kitchen or Perkins (without the drunks). I stopped in with a few co-workers over lunch and had the Reuben. It was OK, but for $9 though, I wouldn't order it again. One of my co-workers also had the Reuben, and another had the "Hamburger" (as it was listed). They shared my sentiment on everything being pretty "meh." We ordered a basket of Sweet Potato Fries which was the highlight for me. Sharing seemed like the way to go, because f you'd like to add a side order of SPF to your plate it's $4, which seemed a little outrageous for this place. Overall this place was underwhelming. The service was fine, but $14 for an underwhelming lunch won't draw me back any time soon. Tip: The table next to us had cornbread and it looked amazing. This morning I met at Eden Avenue Grill with a group of 6 colleagues. We were greeted promptly and with a smile. Each of us got our drink orders, and then after a reasonable time placed our food orders. The server was attentive, but not too much. I ordered the Club Omelette. It was one of the BEST breakfast meals I have ever had, and breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. This is my second visit, and Eden Avenue Grill will certainly be a regular breakfast place for me . . . though I must admit that the lunch specials posted really grabbed my attention on the way out . . . just saying. read more

Decent food and service was on point. Nice atmosphere compared to the old restaurant here. Had the carnitas tacos. They were good however next time I would order it without the Cole slaw. I am giving 2-stars because they make their own black bean burger (I'm not vegetarian; I just like black bean burgers and dislike paying for what amounts to boca burgers at many restaurants). If it were not for this, I would give one star, since I was not given the opportunity to try the food. I called at 1PM on a Thursday to place a carryout order for lunch. The person who answered put me on hold to go find a server and never came back. After 10 minutes, I hung up and called again. Checked this place out last weekend and it was a nice, cozy experience. I ordered the tuna melt with a mixed greens house side salad and both were delicious. The bar area is really nice and they had a good selection of wine, spirits and lots of good comfort food. It was busy - people of all ages. A friend/co-worker and I decided to try this place after work on a Friday night. There was a very short wait and the place was pretty busy. The atmosphere was a little dated, but charming and comfortable. It seemed that some of the diners knew each other and that was a nice friendly feeling. The service was good and everyone was friendly, but the food was underwhelming. I also agree with a lot of the other posts. It's an older crowd, but that doesn't bother me. What matters most to me is service and good food. Unfortunately then fell a little short on the food end. The menu looked very enticing, but the open faced sandwich that I got was not very good. They really need to rethink some of their recipes. I would still go back again and try something else. read more

First time visiting here the other week, I went with my significant other and an old professor of ours. The wine & beer selection is top notch and our food was delicious! Highly recommend the Beer Cheese & Pretzels, French Dip or Fajitas. It's on the more expensive side, but if you're looking for a nice dinner with great service, it is totally worth it here! Both the Tuna Melt with pumpernickel bread was well flavored and taste of fresh tuna and deliciousness. Dined here for a casual dinner recently. I can't believe I've never even seen or heard of this place before; it's kind of tucked away. We sat in their patio/porch which was great- loved the heat lamps! Our server was nice, just a little awkward at times! They have a great happy hour. Food was pretty good, I ordered a salad and got fries instead, but the server was very quick to bring a salad and insisted we still try the fries (they were good). I recently started working a couple blocks away from The Eden Avenue Grill. On a particularly frigid day, I headed out for lunch and decided to go to the nearest option -- which unfortunately is this restaurant. Service was the slowest I have ever experienced. We were seated and then left alone for 15 minutes. I finally flagged down a gentleman that was setting silverware on the tables and asked him who would be helping us. He went and tracked down our server who came over without apology or even a greeting and said, "So you're ready to order..." Now mind you - we were one of only 3 tables in the restaurant. My lunch-mate and I each ordered a Reuben and French Onion soup. It took at least 20 minutes for the food to come. The food was mediocre at best. The soup was watery and especially disappointing. When the server dropped off our food, she said she'd come back with water and asked if there was anything else we needed. I requested the check since this was a lunch break. We ate all of our food and were waiting for her before she came back by with the water. Plus, I had to remind her to bring the check. Another 5 minutes later, the check came. The service alone gives me reason to never return and I'm not sad about never eating their food again. read more

Went on a double date here on a week night around 7 PM and the 50's and older crowd was out in force at this place! Definitely seems popular with the older crowd. I go the warren burger (open faced) and it was good but not great. not really memorable. My hubby got the horsin' around burger (open faced) and he thought it was really good. The couple we were with got a cheeseburger and chicken ciabatta sandwich. Was told the chicken ciabatta was okay but not great. So overall it seems like the food is kind of mediocre. I had the braised short rib with mashed potatoes and my boyfriend had the Greek salad with dolma. The salad came sans any dressing. The short ribs were drenched in a lackluster brown gravy. The only thing edible was the asparagus. The short ribs were covered in gravy due to the fact the meat itself was severely lacking in flavor. When you receive meat covered in gravy, they are trying to cover up its lack of flavor. $21! Two days prior, I ate at Kincaids for dinner and had the mushroom ravioli with braised short rib for $24. That meal was stellar out of this world delicious. I feel highly ripped off from this place--overly-priced food that wasn't that good. Will not return. read more

Server knew my wife and I were going to split the salad so she had the cooks prepare it on 2 separate plates. Overall feel of the place was a little higher class but yet still casual.
