I was excited to see a coffee shop opening in Convoy and decided to check out The Keep when they opened. The interior is very minimalist and has some spots for studying as well as hanging out. We got their keep latte and their basque cheesecake. Service here was friendly and quick. The whipped cream on the latte was really good but other than tasted like regular coffee. When I came here the drink was $6.50. I liked the basque cheesecake more than the latte. It was creamy but not too sweet and had a nice carmelized top. We visited at around 12:30 PM on a Saturday. The line was already outside and wrapped around the building but went by pretty quickly considering. The interior was interesting and had a nice ambiance with a lot of seating. The menu is only listed at the front counter by the register, so you don't have much time to look it over before you get to the front. They also didn't really take time to explain the menu or make recommendations. I understand it was busy, but it felt rushed. I ordered the Keep Latte, which comes with their house made whipped cream, and my other half ordered the cappuccino. We both felt underwhelmed by the coffee quality. The house made whipped cream was tasty but made the drink feel more like a dessert. We also shared the cream cheese garlic bun, which was good, but I was expecting a more savory flavor, but it was actually sweet instead. Keep Coffee is the the cool new modern coffee shop on the block! Lot's of coffee shops I notice in LA/OC are of this type of ambiance and chic-ness, but not many are appearing in SD, thank god for the Keep Coffee! I tried their signature Keep Latte which is made with espresso, whole milk and their signature house cream. I appreciate that they also have an option for oat milk, and I will be sure to try that next time. The latte definitely gets you your moneys worth with the quality of the espresso that they use here at Keep. I definitely will be awake for the rest of the day, that is for sure. Their house cream is actually to die for! This has got to be one of the best in-house made creams that I've ever had. I would say, if you're used to a sweeter type of latte, this definitely is not for you. However, they do have matcha and Thai tea versions of their signature Keep Latte which might be better options if you are more used to a sweeter taste. I did watch them prepare the matcha while waiting in line and they do some legit preparation of the matcha, freshly whisked with a proper matcha whisk and all. I did wait around 20 minutes coming at around 1:45~2pm on a Sunday, this may be because Keep is relatively newer and the shop is being shared on many social media platforms. I even saw many people taking footage for what looked like online content (Admittedly, I did find this place through an instagram reel). Although I waited 20 min in line, it did not take more than 5 minutes to get my latte (amazing!) and they have a straightforward system to get your coffee. You are handed a buzzer, and once it buzzes the order is ready! They play good music to keep a good vibe going in here, which is played at a pretty decent volume (for all my students and hard workers out there). The overall noise levels in here wasn't too bad with a full house and full line. If you have a hard time locking in for your studies or work, you may want to bring your noise cancelling headphones. They do provide free water and have a restroom. Parking is sort of rough because of the small lot in front of the store and the small lot located to the right of the store, you have to be careful with where you park because many of the spots are marked for other vendors in the two plazas. I parked right up the street (not on the main road but on the side road to the left of Keep) and there was plenty of parking and it is not a far walk (I enjoyed a little daytime stroll while on my way to get some yummy coffee!). I came here recently and was shocked to get a $61 parking ticket after being here less than 20 minutes. Keep Coffee doesn't provide customer parking, and there were no clear signs indicating that you had to pay to park as a Keep Coffee customer . Last time I visited (a few months ago), this wasn't an issue but now, apparently, you either have to pay for parking or risk getting ticketed. For a quick coffee stop, this is completely unreasonable. At the very least, the business should post warnings for customers or work with the lot to make parking clear. Sadly, the lack of transparency and inconvenience really ruined my experience. The matcha is also MID lmao not worth it at all! First time at this coffee shop and all I have to say is the wait is completely worth it! My roommate and I ordered the Dirty Coffee, Almond Croissant, and Burnt Ube Cheesecake. All of it was absolutely delicious. As you can tell in the pictures everything is already consumed! They also have a good amount of selection with nothing too overwhelming or complicated. The espresso in the dirty coffee was very smooth and not too acidic or bitter, paired very nicely with the cream/milk. Aside from looks the almond croissant had everything I desired in an almond croissant, from the buttery flaky texture to the almond filling. The Ube Burnt Cheesecake had the perfect intensity of Ube flavoring and was NOT too sweet, so it paired very nicely with our coffee. All I can say is absolute perfection! The service was very nice and the barista was putting out very good quality drinks. I could see the care she was putting into crafting all of the orders. I wanted to like this place as it was going viral but unfortunately my group and I felt that the cafe severely falls short in multiple ways. The interior looks unfinished and the chairs were really uncomfortable to sit in and seemed worn even though the cafe is newly opened. A lot of the tables were also completely taken by people doing remote work/hw which is inconvenient. If you have a party of anything above 4 I recommend planning to get it take out. Also, the only menu is sitting in front of the cashier (nothing on the wall) so it was a little awkward standing in front of the register trying to decide what to order. The drinks are also severely overpriced for the quality; for $8 I was expecting the drinks to be high quality and delicious. The matcha tasted like baking quality matcha, grainy, and the drink was not sweetened at all. The thai tea and coffee was okay - nothing to write home about. The soda and cappuccino was decent. Everyone felt that there was way too much cream in the drinks and it was too heavy even for it being an einspanner style drink.
