Fresh baked sourdough and ale bread
    Stephanie B.

We LOVED the food here so much that we've considered making the trip (several hours) just to eat here ever since. Needless to say, our meal was so delicious and filling - easily the best seafood we've eaten in the area, and some of the best food we've eaten in Southern Oregon. The clam chowder, steamer clams, crab and artichoke alfredo, and seafood mama (crab, shrimp, scallops, parmesan cream sauce over fettuccine) were incredible. The wait staff was friendly and helped us out with our menu selections. It turns out that you can get both the fresh baked sourdough and ale bread with your meal, and each compliment the food wonderfully. The restaurant itself had a wonderful, lively pub feel to it. As aforementioned, we loved The Laughing Clam and will return at our first opportunity.

We came across this place while walking around the historic area of Grant's Pass. The place had a warm pub vibe with a nice wooden bar, and a fireplace in the back. It was a hot day, so we decided to have our lunch while sitting inside as opposed to out front. Our server was very pleasant. He seemed to anticipate when we needed refills and asked us before we asked him. I had a blue cheeseburger, and my partner had a bowl of clam chowder and fish and chips. Everything was very good.

This is the half order of the fish and chips. It was super yummy!

Great fish and chips. Easy to get to, and then walk the quaint downtown area of Grants Pass

We've been to the Clam a few times for drinks but we finally got to enjoy quiet a selection of the menu. We absolutely had a little bit of everything from soups, salads, appetizers and entrees. It was all well made and delicious. Only got pictures of a few items we had. The seasonal fried asparagus is delicious. The onion rings beer battered and perfect. I didn't sample the clam chowder or calamari but it was all wolfed down so I'm assuming it was good. The club was hugely stacked. The pesto burger was well cooked and a delicious pesto sauce hidden under the cheese. The cosmic cajun is seriously NO JOKE SPICY. Couldn't eat but half but it was tasty. The crab/lobster cakes were probably my favorite thing, absolutely delectable and cooked perfectly. Didn't need the sauce provided but it did give a nice change of flavors. Will say that their chicken wings needed more time in the fryer to crisp up the skin more. The Buffalo sauce was tasty.

Stopped in recently while in town, the place was packed and since I was solo I was able to grab a seat at the bar, which was a great call. A long shotgun interior, there wasn't and empty table and folks were waiting. My bartenders servers were all kind and professional and in spite of the business and crowd made sure I wasn't forgotten. Which sometimes sitting at the bar happens. Starters was the stuffed mushrooms with lobster and shrimp. This is a great appetizer and could be a stand alone meal, as well easily shared with others. After giving the menu a good peruse, the Seafood combo with shrimp and calamari was my choice, it proved to be a good one as well. Plenty of golden brown shrimp and a nice portion of lightly fried calamari, showing the skill of the kitchen. Dipping sauces and fresh slaw with fries. A nice basket of seafood. Well prepared, flavorful and nicely seasoned. 4 Stars A solid choice for a good meal, worth a visit and wait if you have to. I will return when in town next. 00942

Highly recommend the clam chowder and/or crab cakes! We also got the fish and chips which was alright. Overall great experience and food.

The Laughing Clam is a great place. They had only two things that really sound good. The place has a great brick wall and an old wooden carved bar. The menu is pretty good. The clam chowder and steamed clam appetizer and their sourdough bread. Both of the meals were outstanding but even the steamed clam appetizer should come with toasted bread because it would be a crime to not have bread to go with the broth. This should be added! I definitely recommend and would come back just for those two meals. Parking is a problem...it is on the street or in the lot across the street. Maybe locals have a secret spot.

Shrimp po boy, ale bread and fish and chips

Totally enjoyed our meal here. Sat outside, had a huckleberry cider, shrimp po boy , fish and chips and the ale bread. Everything was tasty, with good sized portions. The ale bread was particularly good, unexpectedly but not over sweet. The service was very nice and friendly, the food came out very quickly. A great stop on our way through town.

We came for lunch after a doctor appointment and expected an average pub food experience . How delightful to enjoy the freshest halibut fish and chips and a blue bird chicken sandwich. Cup of chowder was yummy, and sweet potato fries hot and crisp. Great service by Chase

Best fish tacos! Yum. Friendly staff. Only negative is the kitchen playing loud music that echoes in the restaurant- kind of obnoxious.

What restaurants with river view are located in grants pass?

Taprock NW and River's Edge. Personally I have not felt either one's food was worth the price. Taprock does have a decent happy hour.

Decent steak dinner. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller…read moreappetizer special and the value was definitely there with the four large oysters and creamy herbed topping; the hollandaise sauce, however, either curdled and went back to separated butter or was very very plain. I asked whether a mistake was made and butter was served instead, and turned out the hollandaise was just very subtle that day. I ordered the 16 oz Delmonico cut and the server recommended that one to be cooked to medium rare temp as opposed to rare because of how fatty the cut is and I'm glad I listened to Marci. There are no-cost toppings you can add and I selected the blue cheese compounded butter one and I'm glad I did. The special side that day was mashed red potatoes and I enjoyed how generous the serving was but I found them under seasoned. The steak was good. Maybe $50 good; I'd definitely melt but another cut next time that works well with the rare temp. The tiramisu dessert was divine and the texture and taste of the mascarpone mousse made up for the bland hollandaise from earlier. I ordered a side Ceasar and it was alright; really wish there was an option to add a steak onto the Ceasar salad entrée.

The steak was tiny for the price (they credited it), and the potatoes were cold. We still ended up paying a $118 bill plus tip, but I didn't even get a real dinner--just a side of potatoes. To make it worse, the owner wasn't even present, but was actively watching the security cameras remotely to micro-manage the workers about our drinks. If ownership spent less time spying on their staff through a camera feed and more time ensuring paying customers got hot, properly portioned food, our date night wouldn't have been completely ruined. Sad how much it has changed. Avoid this place.

Stumbled upon this spot while wandering around after checking into the hotel next door…read more We grabbed a beer from the bar and settled onto one of the patios to take in the scenery. Ended up striking up a conversation with one of the employees, Blade, who was fantastic. We mentioned how much we admired the potted floral arrangements lining the patio, every detail felt so intentional and looked absolutely beautiful. Blade gave credit to one of the owners, Elvie Cartwright. Well Elvie, if you see this: you have an incredible green thumb and an artist's eye for beauty. Kudos. Our seating was in the bar downstairs which was very busy and noisy which was ok for 2 of us unfortunately 2 of our party were deaf and that was an issue for visiting. Our dinners: clam linguine, small clams in butter wine sauce was good, lots of broth and noodles could have had more clams. Dinner salads were great, big, crisp and fresh. Hubby had the meatballs with whipped potatoes, not a big meal but very tasty. I often buy ribeye steaks at the Cartwright's market and they are wonderful. Cartwright's owns Taprock restaurant so I figured that's the steak they'd serve but no it was thin and tough like a top round steak, it was cooked med rare that I ordered. It wasn't cheap, won't order again. Margaritas were very good. Service was excellent and there was lots of hired help in all areas. Our waitress was attentive, personable and we enjoyed her service.
