Hubby and I are traveling through SLO looking for nice spot for lunch with outdoor dining and found this spot on Yelp. We didn't have a chance to try the food because as we walked up to ask for a table, we noticed that NONE of the staff were wearing masks. Honestly really good food. They are busy yet friendly and the wait for the food isn't long. The two times I have been in, I have had excellent service, excellent food and lovely waitresses. Stop by here so your mouth can thank you. The only downside is they don't have a bathroom in the restaurant. You have to go to the second floor a bit away to use the restroom. My favorites are the chilaquiles (I prefer with chorizo), the breakfast carnitas enchiladas and for lunch the ruben sandwich and the club sandwich. They open really early in the morning. Breakfast served all day. I came to this restaurant after seeing so many good reviews. And glad i did. You can opted to eat inside or at the garden in the back. Servers are all.so friendly and tentative. They kept checking back to my table to make sure everything is good. We order the breakfast burito with chorizo and bacon. Perfectly made. Bacon was crispy and perfect. Even the tator tots were still crispy inside. My boys ordered country fried steak with scrambled eggs and pancakes. Soo good. Even the gravy was spot on. Had breakfast here this morning and not only was their menu plentiful but it had a lot of mix and match options (ex. Half waffle, 1 egg, bacon or sausage). We got side orders for our daughter and everything we had was delicious and homemade. From the butter for the waffle, build it and sausage - you could tell they take pride in their food. The Nest Cafe is pretty much our favorite local breakfast place. It is a small family-owned restaurant that has thrived in a space where others have struggled. They managed to survive the pandemic with great/friendly service, generously portioned & delicious food and a large outdoor seating space behind their indoor dining area. They get pretty busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait if you arrive any time after 9:30 or so. They tend to have self-serve coffee available in the front waiting area, which is a nice feature if you do have to wait a bit. They also have specials running for lunch and breakfast, the latter of which is served all day. On our last visit, I ordered the orange swirl French toast from the specials, and my husband ordered his usual: the Papa Daddy scramble (heavy on breakfast meats). This scramble is such a large portion that he is rarely able to eat any of the toast it comes with. The French toast was delicious and came with heated syrup (which is always a plus for me--I hate getting cold syrup with pancakes or French toast). The orange swirl bread gave the dish a fresh, citrusy flavor. I really like their patty sausage, which has a nice spicy bite to it and is so juicy (not dry & overcooked). The side of sausage is such a generous size that I always give half to my husband. I hope they plan on staying in business a good, long time, because they have lifelong customers in us!! read more

Thanks previous yelp reviewers. Traveling through heading to San Fran. This place is Clean Updated rustic hipster feel. Small town kinda friendly. They knew the regulars names. But showed the same hospitality to their newbies. Don't be alarmed if your GPS has you turning into the Urgent Care. They are located on the side of it in the same parking lot. Great lunch overall. Fish tacos- big, 2 corn tortillas for each one with a sizable period of fish on each. Good amount of cabbage and some mildly spicy sauce. Sweet potato fries that came with it ( you get your choice of fries- or tater tots) we're big, seasoned and a good sized portion. My wife's ahi salad was very large, with a big piece of sliced ahi that was seasoned perfectly and paired with a soy vey or similar dressing. The presentation of the dishes was impressive and whoever is in the kitchen knows what they are doing. Service was great and food was reasonably priced. Patio out back was pleasant as well. This really is a cozy little nest! It is hiding in an office building which through us off when our gps said arrived. But once we found it, we were happy we did. Friendly, good service. Fun shirts. We were there for lunch and arrived at 130. Even though they close at 2 they welcomed us and didn't miss a beat. I had the pastrami with onion rings and loved it! My husband chose the D's Pastrami which was a spicy melt on grilled rye with fries. That was a hit as well. All the food we saw coming out around us looked great and the portions are large. I ate more than I should have . The only negatives are; : 1. bathroom is in the office building not the restaurant and it is locked with code and cold. 2. Ironic that they are right next to Urgent Care. Maybe they get a commission for how many COVID cases get referred over. It was bustling at 9am on a weekday, so that was a good sign. They took down out name and told It wouldn't be too long of a wait. They were correct, we were seated in just a few minutes. My husband had the Traditional Eggs Benedict and I had the Bacon and eggs. All cooked well, nothing super impressive... that is, until we dug into their cinnamon rolls. Handsdown, BEST cinnamon rolls we have had. They were light and fluffy, the perfect amount of sweet and cinnamon. We even ordered one to take home. My first time here and will not be my last. I was so focused on the deliciousness in front of me forgot to take any food pics! My food partner and I decided to split one of the specials. Belgian waffle with chicken fried steak on top. All with a dusting of powdered sugar. Syrup on the side. We asked for a side of gravy as it didn't come with the meal and it was delish. We each added one egg as a side as well. I really love and appreciate the extra thought and attention that goes into splitting the plate in the kitchen before it comes out so we each have a plate and don't have to fuss with split of our own plate. First of all, the food is PHENOMENAL. Old-school breakfast faves, some wonderful innovations sprinkled throughout. My friend got a waffle and sides, and I got the Papa Daddy (note: ALL the meats) omelette, with hash browns and a biscuit. The meats were flavorful and full of great textures; the hash browns were perfectly crisp, and not oily; and that biscuit is one of the best I've EVER had: still soft, but a ton of body. Also had a mighty fine cup of cold brew. Seriously, you're going to love this food. Secondly, our server Shawny was absolutely wonderful. Warm and friendly, prompt and responsive to our requests, and just a freaking lovely human being! If the food hadn't sold us on the place, Shawny would have.
