This is a awesome divey karaoke bar in Ocean City. As with all karaoke bars, the place is only going as fun as you make it though. If you're ready to let loose, sing some songs and act a fool, this place will be great. If you're afraid to sing or are uptight then you won't enjoy this place. Came in with a group of 10 on a random Sunday night to close out our vacation and I don't believe anybody in our group had a bad time. The MC was great, he was fun, easy going and more importantly kept the party moving. He kept the list right, he kept the stage filled and didn't waste a lot of time making it all about him instead of the people who wanted to sing. The rest of the staff was cool too, the bartenders made decent drinks. The selection is limited but they work hard to give you strong booze. My husband, sister, and I just wanted to go out and have a good time. The owner came to my husband and told him that he was not serving him anymore drinks until he tipped him. My husband told him that he was going to tip when we we're finished. The owner's response was then, " bull s***" my husband got offended and asked if the owner wanted him to leave. Some words got exchanged and the next thing I knew, three men tried to jump my husband to kick him out of the establishment. Then we flagged the police down just for him to leave us on the sidewalk to answer another call. The owner did not tell anyone else at the bar to tip him. We we're the only African Americans in the establishment and never have experienced anything like it. read more

Went to Sandbar for the first time. If I could give zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I are locals in this town and have been for years. We usually go to other bars but decided it would be fun to try out the sandbar, I was let in immediately with no questions asked, when my boyfriend gave his ID to the bouncer he was told in an aggressive manner that his ID was fake and to "get the fuck of the property." My boyfriend is 24 and has a Maryland ID. It wasn't until he told the bouncer to call the police that he gave it back. I went into the bar in order to get my friends so we can leave and the atmosphere is ultimately disgusted. Hot and musky, absolutely repulsive to be in. overall, it was a horrible experience. Do not go here and ever expect decent service! WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND. read more

This is pretty much the only place for karaoke in the OC. I wish there were more!!! The place is great with decent prices and great bartenders, But the DJ sucks the big one!!! I only check in twice but this is my third time going there, spent hours and never got to sing my songs. My wife is a ringer, she sings like an angel but HE NO LIKES and lets all the terrible hoe trains sing song after song, that's not cute.... This place was pretty cool coming in and a lot of people were having a blast. The dj guy running the show was really loud and judgemental and picked which songs he wanted to hear rather than have an order of singers along with making sure he had his chances to sing(we were there an 1 and he sang two songs) The drinks were terrible, worst Long Island ice tea out there. Upon entering you'll immediately take note of how dim this place can be. The highlight of this bar is karaoke and it is well done; with added light effects and smoke, it makes for a good stage. Also, all the guests present on our visit were really into it and decently talented so it was fun and lighthearted. However, as a bar, this place could use some serious work. The drinks are steeply priced and confusingly prepared, "shots" come out in 8oz. plastic cups with at least half a can of energy drink in each so, after about 4, you feel quite ill from all the carbonation and sugar. I love karaoke, so I checked out this bar while visiting Ocean City. After the second song somebody did after I got there, which was by Elton John, the KJ just had to get up on stage and make a homophobic joke. There was no way I was going to have a fun experience after that, so I left without waiting for my name to get called. Not a friendly place to go if you're LGBTQ. read more

I went here with a group of friends over Memorial Day weekend. The crowd there was super supportive and warm of everyone performing. There was lots of dancing. The emcee was hilarious and not douchey at all. The bartenders were friendly and fairly quick considering how crowded it was. We didn't pay a cover charge. The bathrooms were clean and stocked, which I was surprised by. My friend got to perform 4-5 songs and it changed his life forever. He never had as much fun ever in his entire life. The rest of us had a great time, but this was truly life changing for our friend. He loved going up on stage and feeling like a rock star. We are looking forward to making this place part of our annual OCMD trip tradition! read more

Expensive drinks, had to pay very high prices for drinks after a cover charge. The bartenders only paid attention to females. It took us 15+ minutes to get drinks. Didn't even get to sing karaoke. After 30 minutes we got fed up and walked out. Service was ridiculously poor. Will never be back. read more

Myself and a group of friends went to this bar for karaoke last night. Most of the night we were having a good time. Close to the end of the night was when things took a turn. I was notified that a member of my party was not being allowed back into the bar because her vape was "blowing too much smoke near the door". This then escalated to her being "too drunk" and "stealing drinks" (neither of which were true). Come to find out the guy accusing her was the owner. He was inches from her face towering over her and calling her derogatory words. The bouncer just watched and didn't step in. What started as a fun night changed to us never wanting to return to the bar because of the actions of the staff. read more

Went to this place last night, and was not impressed. They inside was much like a dirty, slimy dive bar. Pictures of women's breasts and butt lined the perimeter of the inside. It was disgusting. The drinks were overpriced and were served in rinky-dink little cups. The karaoke host was loud and rude. Some people thought he was funny, but I found him to be extremely disrespectful and vulgar. To top it all off, there were flies everywhere!!! We ended up leaving just to get away from the flies that were buzzing around our heads. read more

The Sandbar is a divey karaoke bar off the Coastal Highway in OCMD. It has decent drink specials and overall is fun place to check out. We went here on a Sunday in the summer and it had a decent crowd, not too packed but there was enough brave souls who were willing to go up and sing on stage. The host was pretty entertaining and the stage was a decent size with a small area to dance. They also have 2 pool tables for those who are looking for a more leisurely activity. Bathrooms are a little dirty, but the rest of the place is in decent shape. The sandbar is a unique bar from the rest off the Coastal Highway and would check it out again. read more

This is hands down our favorite bar in Ocean City! Yes it's divey, but it's a damn good time. The drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly. The karaoke "DJ" is our favorite thing about the Sandbar - he is the reason it's such a fun place! There's a huge selection of songs and who doesn't love a good fog machine? This is the best karaoke anywhere. I tell The Badboy every year that I want him to come down to Florida and do shows at my bar, which he does when his wife and him come down for vacation. It's immediately apparent he loves to entertain people. Always with a smile on his face and does anything he can, including making a fool of and fun of himself, just to get somebody to laugh. We make a trip every year, not to see the beach, but to enjoy the entertainment from this guy. The bar is on the smaller side, but the staff is always friendly and the Badboy makes it feel like a frat party for everybody involved. He even got an 80-year-old woman to get up and sing for the first time when we were there the last time. Making her feel like she was 21 years old all over again. We can't say enough good things about him and the fun times we have when we come to the sandbar because of him. read more

Charges a cover fee for a smutty experience. I use the word smutty because of the pictures of tits and thongs plastered all around the bar, which immediately made my wife uncomfortable. The atmosphere is dark and dirty, and every time the bouncer passed by us there was a terrible B.O. Regardless, it started off fun, with some good singers. I soon learned that the DJ was a total jerk, however, as he continuously catered to a bachelorette party in the audience, practically ignoring my group for over two hours after we put in our songs. Finally I asked how much longer we'd have to wait. He assured me I'd be coming up soon, but lied. Ironically the party would have loved the songs we put in, as we were devoted to giving a good performance that night - and the tickets prompt you to choose 3 songs, so he could have chose any one of his liking! This place is so much fun!!! The crowd is awesome, everyone is just fun loving and ready to have a good time. The drinks are good and affordable and THE KARAOKE HOST IS THE BEST!!! My friend and i went tonight and we loved it. The host is so funny, keeps the crowd going and is always there to jump in when people start panicking about forgetting the words. 5 stars especially to the karaoke host. This was literally the best night we've ever had in Ocean City. I go every year with a group of friends from college and we try out new restaurants and bars. We are usually a Seacrets crowd, but NOT ANYMORE! We found our home. We went our last night in town (Sunday before Memorial Day) expecting to have a low key night and do some karaoke for the first time. Boy were we wrong. This place was LIT. The MC started things off and everyone immediately started dancing and singing along. This isn't a place where people just sit and watch, which is great. Everyone was so friendly and supportive, whether you could sing or not. We felt like rock stars. My voice is still hoarse 2 days later. We were there for almost 5 hours. I think I found my soul mate...between the vibes his aura was putting off and his twisty dance moves, I think he was the one. A modern day Ferris Bueller if you will (he even sang Twist and Shout). If you're reading this orange flowered shirt guy, call me! We can't wait to go back next year. I'm trying to convince my friend to ditch her Vegas Bachelorette Party for a weekend at The Sandbar! read more

This joint is straight ass. Dirty, dingy, and smells like a gym locker room. Management has no clue but how to take your money. Crowd is less than desirable. Worst Karaoke bar ever! Very rude staff and misleading website. Owner clearly does not want you to go there and spend money. Doesn't open until 8:00, and they do not inform you on the website that Karaoke does not start until 9:30. We had a short timeframe, and were happy to show up at 8:00 when they open. We asked to get on the singer list, and were rudely informed that "everyone knows" that Karaoke doesn't start until 9:30. Apparently, if you are not already a regular, they do not want your business. We were well dressed, respectful (and white, unlike some of the reviewers with claims of racism), and our group probably would have happily spent over $100 there, but staff clearly had a strong preference for the owner to not make a single dollar from us. We are making an effort to tell every acquaintance as well as people on the sidewalk we pass to go ANYWHERE other than the Sandbar! read more

Super fun bar/lounge. Karaoke most nights -- with a great stage. That said, it would be fun to hang out whether you are into karaoke or not.
