I sat and listened to the clerk have 101 reasons why they couldn't take customer boxes and things they had ready to ship - but how they could Redbox things "in the back" and charge all these crazy charges for a must-needed extra strip of tape, etc. It was the strangest experience. I'm very familiar with mailing from an eBay and craft side hustle - but needed to overnight something for Christmas - this was crazy. Strange. Went in to drop off four envelopes for UPS. I was reusing padded envelopes, just needed a piece of packing tape to close them. Four pieces of tape. For which I was charged four dollars. One dollar per piece of tape. How petty. $4 is no big deal, but do you really want to nickle and dime your customers over pieces of tape? I find there notary services lacking. No, not every employee is a notary, but they have at least one working. But, these are college kids, with limited knowledge of what a notary can and cannot do. I always get frustrated dealing with them. I'm looking for another place to do my UPS business, a little extra drive is fine to get better service. read more

This UPS store location is great. Near the heart of Elk Grove, this location provided me with excellent service. I came in the middle of the day and it was kind of busy. Each person was helping a customer so I understood and waited patiently. What I appreciated the most though was even though they were so busy, right when I walked in the door they still welcomed me and told me they will be right with me. Little acknowledgements like that can really make a huge difference in what makes a certain store location great or not. When it came to my turn, it was very breezy in and out. Update: I have read your response and I stand by what I have stated. You should check your cameras again. (Even after I exited store and walked back to my car my watch and car clock both read 4:02 pm) I was not there at 8 pm I was there before 4 pm. I wasn't aware that the closing time was 4 pm. As I stated I thought you closed at 5 pm or I never would have gone there. Your employee was rude (as were you by calling me a lair) and needs to state your policy of closing and related charges of $50.00 prior to letting someone stand in line. It's only good customer service. I had a Amazon return so I went to this UPS store. I walked in at the same time as another lady and she went straight to the counter to be helped. There was another lady there that was already being helped by another clerk. I waited patiently as I was next in line. After around 5 minutes the clerk was free and says "ma'am it's going to cost you $50.00 if you want me to help you". Confused, I said excuse me? And he repeated "if you want me to help you it's going to cost you $50.00, other wise you can come back tomorrow cause I'm on overtime now, cause we're not open". I asked him what time they close as I thought it was 5. He said they close at 4 and it now 4. I couldn't believe he was going to charge me $50.00 to do one 30second return, especially since I had been in the store and waiting prior to the closing time. I took passport photos here for my family and was told, like most places, that if the passport photo gets rejected, bring it back for a refund. So I went to my passport appointment for my son, and the agent at the post office rejected the photo and told me to get a refund and I had to pay for new passport photo at the post office. So then I went back to this location, as I was told I would get a refund for rejected photos. Nope, I didn't. Now I got a different story. I cannot get a refund without a rejection letter, the photo got rejected by the passport agent in person, there is no rejection letter. They didn't care. Instead was told basically no. I was told the owner wasn't here and he could call for the owner but the owner would say the same thing. I said that you were there with the other employee who took my photos and said I could return if rejected. I had both photos as proof that I didn't use it as it was rejected. I didn't want to make a scene so I left. I would steer away from this place for taking passport photos and making false comments. read more

Terrible experience with this store. They changed their mailbox fee policy (added an extra charge per package received over a certain minimal number) without due notice and without the ability to cancel the mailbox lease and receive a refund. This is bad business practice - not giving due notice before changing your fees and allowing a customer the option to cancel service if they do not agree with the new policy is simply no way to do business. Fair warning to anyone considering a mailbox with them ... they can increase your costs at any time and you won't get a refund even if you don't agree to the new terms. read more

The broke my gym equipment. They packaged it and took it fir delivery. It was red turned to me broken. The wouldn't even replace it because I purchased my shipping through a 3rd account. It's so stupid. They made a case of damage product before it got back to me but won't refund or replace my equipment. read more

This is our go-to place for random business services. The location is convenient, employees are friendly, and the hours are decent. We primarily end up there for notary services, but we've also used them for fingerprint livescans and faxes. Always a seamless process. I will say that the fax prices add up quick at $2/page. I'm not sure what they are elsewhere but there is a probably a way to fax via our home computer...and the $24 for 12 pages will encourage you to figure it out quick :) read more

I was told today that they do not accept packages wrapped in "wrapping paper" (his words) for the USPS drop off. I had my package neatly wrapped in plain brown paper with all the seams taped with clear tape. I was told the driver that picks up the packages will not take any boxes wrapped because they can get lodged on the conveyor belt and get lost. I have been mailing packages for years, always the same way and have never had a problem. Wrapping packages in plain brown paper has been a known standard since the dawn of time. In fact, I have dropped identical packages at this specific location before and had no problem. I had to leave and take it to another mailing location. The employees at the second mailing location told me that this UPS store tells customers that excuse when they don't want to take packages for USPS. Y'all just lost my business read more

UPDATE: More than a year after my review, I receive a response from UPS Store. Really, why bother at this point!

I must first begin this review with a disclaimer. I have been coming to this location for some time and have usually been provided with great customer service. Moreover, it has been my personal experience that employees go out of their way to assist patrons; and, based on previous experience, I would give this establishment 4 or 5 stars. With that being said, my most recent visit to this UPS store was nothing short of offensive and left a lot to be desired. After patiently waiting in line for a significant period of time this morning, I was called up to the counter only to be told to stand to the side to allow another customer to receive service ahead of me. Why anyone would think that it was okay for this customer to receive preferential treatment at my expense perplexes me: it was not. For clarity, the customer had rushed in as I and other customers were waiting in line. He asked for a dolly, left the store, and returned with packages on the dolly about 5 minutes later. By this time, I was at the head of the line and there was another person behind me. Suffice it to say, I took my business elsewhere but returned to speak directly to the owner a short while later (because he was the person who provided me with sub par customer service.) To his credit, he listened attentively and apologized. I will return to this store with the full expectation that I be treated fairly and with the respect that I am accustomed to. read more

I had to scan a 9 page document. The kid helping me shocked me by saying $3 for first page and $1 each additional page. I decided that was ok I'd just bite the bullet and do it. He scanned and when we sat down to email the doc he said $3.50 more to send to an email address. So now the cost went from $11 to $14.50. That's probably the same cost to actually mail the document!!! I told him he never said anything about $3.50 email fee. I mean really, sending an email is free. A scanner is just part of a printer so it's not a specialized machine. He apologized. I told him I understand COVID has put business in a bind but that cost was ridiculous and he never disclosed this additional amount of $3.50 when I initially asked about the cost to send the document. Needless to say I did not use their services and took my document to Staples. For them to scan my doc was $9.00. Or I could use self service and it was half that cost. I paid $4.50. I just hope that not all UPS stores are all the same with these inflated prices. I imagine they are an essential business so they are not forced to close. Plus I image they have more business because of COVID because of all the on line ordering/returns. Shame on this UPS store!!! read more

I waited in an extremely long line on Sunday 3/28/21. It was warm outside and the line curved around the building. The clerks had no Covid instructions in place for social distancing,etc. Customers were confused to where the line began outside, and where to take your place once inside. It was a mess! When I was finally helped, a young man helped me for passport photo services. The clerk ( don't recall his name), refused my TripA auto membership discount. I thought that was strange cause they had ALWAYS done it before. Anyhow, got my passport photo, and thought it was the end of that. Today 3/30/21 during my passport application appointment, my passport photo was declined for submission. The federal representative told me it was insufficient. I had to have another taken immediately at the facility and paid an additional fee so that I could fulfill my application in time for my travel dates. I called the UPS store and spoke to a Carlie or Karlie who stated, "she cannot refund me", but only take an additional pic at no cost. She was clueless to passport procedures and couldn't comprehend why the pic could NOT be retaken. Passports are a huge deal! All things have to be done in order, officially, and sworn in with a federal agent. The UPS store ( at least this location), has no business doing so. If you need a passport pic avoid this place! Total waste of time & money. I'm disappointed to say the least!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! The owner Greg was a complete jerk to me and it seemed like I was a burden to him. He was very short with me and not helpful at all. I had a few questions regarding shipping my package and he treated me like I was dumb. The manager was a lot more helpful and friendlier then the owner. I will never go to this UPS Store again! ZERO Stars. My husband & I own a business requiring hundreds of dollars spent on these services weekly. We choose to spend our money at this specific store weekly. NEVER AGAIN!! I will drive across town, no matter how inconvenient to another store after the horrible customer service received today from Zachary C. From the moment I entered the store until I left. Zachary needs a course on customer service. This UPS store has ALWAYS had stellar customer service. We've had our UPS box for 7 years now & have NEVER had an issue. The owner & crew all know our names & box number. If they're not busy, they'll run my mail out to me too. Checking the mail is my favorite errand because I enjoy chatting with everyone. I'm even connected with a few of them on social media. I went in there today to do a ups drop off with a motorcycle tire for amazon. When I got inside the two young guys were on the computers . After talking about what I had to to do and One of them informed me that they weren't taking tires without boxing them. I wasn't paying for that , I asked if they New which ups store accepted tires and the one yelled from the computer he was at that they're individually owned and the guy helping me said I can look it up on my phone . Do not go here for a passport photo. They took a photo and gave it to me and charged me $17 for it. Went to the passport agency to apply for a passport, and the photo did not meet the qualifications set by the US passport agency. Went back and UPS store and they refused to give a refund, stating that the US government does not allow them to give refunds for photos. They could not provide me with a written policy either by UPS store, or by the US government. Just an arbitrary statement is all they gave me. Their incompetence and inability to take a simple photo cost me $17. read more

Although this isn't the closest UPS to me, I love that this UPS opens later than the other surrounding locations. They are also open on Sunday's, which sucks for the workers but works out for me when I have returns for online orders. No point in going to the closest UPS when they're not even open right? I gave him my number and asked him to have his boss call me. Needless to say I never got a call until today!!!! That call was supposedly from the owner saying that my box is on hold! On hold! Are you serious? Where were you when I called you before it was due? This is not a huge store and there's no reason I should not have gotten a call, and then charged a fee for their negligence. I was on vacation so there's no way for me to go in there. I even asked Chelsy multiple times to clarify that her boss , who she said was the owner Greg Higley did indeed refused to speak to me. To which she said yes every time. Every question I asked she really had no answer for and had to ask him. He would then answer and then she would speak to me!!! Disrespect, prejudice, and just complete bigotry is all I felt!!! I mean it was obvious that she was completely uncomfortable being in this position, but I guess being an employee she doesn't have a choice!?!?!? Is that the way the world works now ? Oh and the best part is, when I asked for the number to complain they gave me a wrong one! I don't think I was letting that go I googled it! Needless to say, I have to renew just long enough to change my addresses for everything. But I would not suggest this place and encourage anyone not to take part in a business that's unprofessional and doesn't even have their employees trained or best interest in mind!!!! I actually have to call my sister from across country to go walk in there and pay for it for me because I'm so uncomfortable doing anything over the phone with how unprofessional my experience was. Love this particular location! PROS: CUSTOMER SERVICE: They have the BEST customer service I have ever seen at a UPS Store! I've been in here on various occasions for shipping, faxing, and professional printing and binding. It doesn't matter who helps me out, they've all been super nice and willing to assist. Thank you! PRINTING: I had a report that I needed printed out which was around 22+ pages and it came out perfect. The colors were awesome and the binding gave it a professional look even though the report was for one of my college business classes. The price wasn't bad, it was less than $20. CONS: SHIPPING PRICES: I've only ever dropped off packages where shipping was prepaid by the merchant. I did go in there once to ship an iPad that I sold on eBay and the packaging and shipping was about $30! I ended up taking it to the post office for their flat rate shipping instead. CONSENSUS: I will keep going back for the customer service, printing, faxing, and any pre paid items that must go out. Thank you for having such amazing customer service! Keep it up! read more

I just left a tip that said, "Nice, friendly place... Smiles all around!" Well, that doesn't tell HALF the story. This is a really pleasant establishment, and it located very conveniently (if you live in Elk Grove). As much as I like my "home" Gold River UPS Store, this one gives it a run for its money. I'm still glowing and feel like part of a family. It's all because of the prompt, attentive, and friendly service I received here. The young man listened, gave me options, alternatives, and executed my choices with aplomb. They're even able to add "hello," and "happy birthday" messages on shopping labels!!! I never knew that!! Let's go, Gold River, get with it!! If this place were closer, it'd be a tough choice. Know that whenever I need to ship when I'm in Elk Grove (which is often enough), THIS is the MBE I'm using!! I don't really understand why this place has so many negative reviews. This was the best UPS customer service I have ever received! I mean it's open until 8 unlike most locations. I went in to return a rented textbook and the gentleman that helped me was so nice! He ran to the door to open it for me before I even got to the entrance. I visited this store on different occasions 2-3 years ago, and was super satisfied with the service there. But the recent trip a few months ago had me doubting if they hired lower quality workers for less money. Few years back I was always promptly greeted in a heart warming fashion upon entering the store --if not by the counter cashier then by some dude in the back. The crew was very professionally looking, and the cashier girls were young, energetic, courteous, professional, straight forward, and had pride in their work and themselves. This time, I had a 20-30 something with energy level of a nursing home retiree and an attitude of a mud playing kid at a used car dealership after 5pm ... I went to this ups store to print out a work order out of my iCloud account. You get charged two dollars for using there computer then 30 cents a minute. I was having a hard time getting into my account so I asked is there another way. They told me nope then the 5 bucks was gone like that. West Sacramento ups store doesn't charge you so I ended up going to fed ex on Bruceville road and they helped me by emailing them the document and gladly charged me 30 cents. I am so frustrated with this store. I bought in a document to be faxed. I was charged $2.50 extra for the cover sheet. I didn't know I was not to be charged for the fax cover sheet. I had to go back another day to send another document. That is when I found out I should not have been charged for the cover sheet. I faxed the document the 2nd time and pain $2.50. The man helping me did not give me the confirmation printout that it went through. I called the business I was faxing it to and they never received it. I had to go back again to redo it. I had all of my recipes. They wanted to charge me again. I talked to the manager, Daniel Hargrove, and told him what happened. He said that happens. I asked him if it happens that some people get charged for a cover sheet and some don't and people pay for faxes that don't go through. He said yes and would not refund my $2.50. The money isn't the issue. It is that Daniel just said that happens and did not want to help. I will not go back there. read more

Went in to ship some items and Anthony was the employee assisting me. He was rude and lacked all professionalism. I have been shIpping here for years and I have never encountered this individual prior to today. I have never been asked for my email address prior to today so I declined to provide it as I have never been asked previously. He kept measuring the items one being a wire rack and the other a bag that was smaller than the rack. I stated the box needed to only fit the rack as the bag would squish into it. He didn't like that I said that and stated he has rules to follow. He then took my items to the back which I have never had someone do they usually bring the box out to put the items in. He eventually came back out without my items or the box. He then began advising me of the cost of the box and then asked what I was shipping and I stated you saw the items - he became upset and I then stated as you saw it was a wire rack. He began to give me attitude so I said let me just pay for the card and I will ship my items another day somewhere else and he said thank God and walked to the back to get my items. When he returned he rang up my card and I paid for it. I then said to him that he should watch what he is saying when a customer is standing there still referring to his comment of thank God and he then went off and said that I was rude and to get out and that I needed to watch myself. Mind you the owner was there observing the entire incident as the employee continued his incredible rudeness. I received an Amazon item via UPS and it arrived with as damaged box which in turn damaged the item. Amazon authorized the return and instructed me to return the item in the box to the UPS store so it may be returned. Upon arrival at this location, the associate, Logan, scanned the box, inspected the box, and said they could not accept it because the box was damaged and there would be a fee to put it in a new box. The damage was minimal and would not effect the shipping of the item. Mind you the box was damaged by UPS, not me, thus it should not be my responsibility to repair what UPS broke.
