This location has quite a lot of seating (both indoor and outdoor). They have an additional outdoor seating area in the back. The two of us weren't too hungry so we opted on a couple of drinks and some of the appetizers. We ordered the Crab Cake (only comes with one piece), Mac and Cheese, and Cajun Fries. And for the cocktail I had the Hurricane and Frozen Pina Colada. The drinks were pretty good and they definitely did not skimp on the alcohol because the Hurricane was a lot stronger than I anticipated. The portions of the appetizers were much less than I expected considering the price but was pretty good. The fries were on the saltier side but paired well with the drinks. At times it was difficult to get the server's attention because they didn't have anyone that manned our area. But that wasn't a huge deal for us. This place has a fun vibe to it and the nautical decor makes you feel like you're out of town and near a beach. The menu has so many Nola style options to choose from, but I must say it was the Apps and drinks for Meee!! The chicken wings were so crispy and it comes with some kind of Cajun creamy dipping sauce I can't stop thinking about. We put our names on the list. It was an hour and 45 minute wait. Yup, an hour and 45 minutes. We killed time at Barcade, got drinks, played some games and then our table was ready. When it all boils down to it, it was not worth the wait or effort. The food: - fried oyster sliders We were told they were out of oysters so we decided on the calamari instead. - crab cake We never received the crab cake but we didn't press the issue and never asked for it. It was still on our bill at the end of our meal so we asked our server to take off. She did. - Calamari This sucked. Too much breading. Calamari did not taste freshly battered. It definitely tasted as if previously frozen and then thrown in hot oil. combo: shrimp + crab with "theBoil sauce", spicy - this was MEH. The sauce lacked any kick. No spice even thought we asked for spicy. I appreciate that it was not oily and it had a really nice texture. - Sides: steamed white rice + noodles The steamed rice was... just that. And the noodles were not good. They didn't compliment the shrimp and crab sauce at all. We didn't eat the noodles, I ate half of my rice. The drinks: 2 hurricanes They had a drink special: $8 hurricanes. We both got one. They were actually pretty good. Overall this place isn't that great. For our main course, we ordered the king combo which includes a pound of king crab and a pound of crawfish. We ordered it with the boil sauce and spicy. The sauce was incredible!!! Highly recommend the boil sauce! Spicy has just the perfect amount of heat! It's served right in the bag. You also get a corn cob and potatoes scattered in the sauce. Potatoes cooked perfect. We ordered extra butter thinking we would need it. We didn't. And we found out they charged us $3 for it on our bill. Come on! It's freaking butter. Ridiculous. This place is great! Went here for dinner with my friend last week and we had a great time. The hostess made sure to take down our name, number, and email in case there needed to be contact tracing, took our temperature, and gave us hand sanitizer. Was a great initial experience We split fried oysters and each got the headless shrimp with The Boils house sauce Pros: The oysters and shrimp were delicious! The automatic 20% Hospitality Service fee is insane. Customers should be given a choice on how much to tip the server. I would not mind to give a 20 percent tip or even more if the service was good. However, the waitress that greeted and served us was not even welcoming and friendly to the point that we felt not welcome in this place. I could just have left a 10 percent tip for her. Me and the roommate decided to give this place a whirl since it has been a new addition to the neighborhood as of about 3 weeks ago. I'll start off with the negative first. 3% convenience fee to pay with a credit card. I think it's a bit asinine on their end and would have preferred they just said cash only. Prob for that reason future visits there will not be often but that is the only one glaring negative. However, the food was out of this world. I do not reccomend wearing nice clothes as the seafood boils are messy to eat. We got the king combo with crawfish and king crab with the seafood boil and Mac and cheese as a side. Food was fantastic and perfect for a Lent Friday for us Catholics. I loved the outdoor sailor theme. We went to the back where they set up tables outside. There were also seatings in the front by the sidewalks but we preferred our privacy. The servers were very attentive and kept asking us if we were doing well. My server was very knowledgeable, he knew it was my first time here so he recommended the spice level (I was going to go with hot but he said to try medium first and if I wanted it spicier the can add it) and medium was PERFECT for someone to loves spicy food! I think The Boil Special Sauce was fantastic, the garlic taste made it spicy so I would recommend starting with medium and if you want it spicier, the chef can adjust. 4-6pm is happy hour, buy 1 drink get 1 free! Went to the Jersey City location for the first time on Mardi Gras of 2020. If I couldn't be in New Orleans, I figured I gotta have some Cajun cousins somewhere. The crawfish and snow crab legs were good. For seasoning I think I got what's called the boil blend, which was very very garlicky and I didn't consider their hot to be hot, I guess I'll try spicy next time. Cajun fries were good, so were the fried oysters. Big gulf oysters, served with this slaw. You add some crystal hot sauce to it, very good. When you walk in, the ambiance and aesthetic was absolutely beautiful! The colors are so nice and vibrant. The music definitely sets a good date vibe! The menu is very simple &the servers were very informative and knowledgeable on what's included in the dish. Throughout the meal they were extremely attentive. We kept per pound a dry rub, even without the sauce the seafood boil was delicious on its own. We got a side of corn ,potato, and sausages and put it in ourselves for the pound because per individual pound does come on its own! However, the combo came with its own 1 corn and potato! This place is fantastic. The ambience and the food was great. If you're in the mood for shellfish, come to this place. Decently priced too for the amount of shellfish they give you. The staff was also super friendly. The mac and cheese was good, but a bit more garlicky than I'm used to. The sauces for the fries and the wings were very good. Had a craving for some crab legs and decided to check this location out. My friend made the reservation in advance and asked for booth seating. The reason for the 3-Star rating is due to the rude/condescending hostess and our incompetent waitress. Despite being on time, we were greeted by the hostess with "Oh, I almost canceled your reservation". We were STILL made to wait for our table, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was welcoming and made a great Lychee Martini. This, along with the crab legs, was the ONLY highlight of this experience. After waiting, the hostess sat us at one of the very cramped front tables near the entrance. We specifically asked for a booth! We had gotten the strawberry margarita & strawberry southern punch. The drinks was very good. Margaritas are stronger than expected which was a bonus for me. We got fried calamari for an appetizer & it was bomb. We did the queen boil but replaced the crawfish for headless shrimp. My son decided he wanted to meet up for dinner along with his girlfriend. I was stoked to go to The Boil as I've been there previously and I totally loved the food. Parking is horrible over there but I was able to slide into a spot and thankfully it was legit because my car was still there when we got out and I didn't even get a ticket. It was a Monday evening and my son figured we didn't need reservations since he checked online and found there was quite a bit of availability. When we got there however, it was crazy busy :-/ I can only imagine what a Friday or Saturday night looks like if Monday is poppin' like this. The host took my name and told me I had to wait until my 2 guests arrived before getting seated. No big deal. Good service and OMG the food was spot on! I got a soft shell crab and catfish sliders. My son ordered the lobster combo- the one that comes in the bag with potatoes and butter sauce mmmmmmm. I tasted it and it was amazing! The prices weren't too bad but my frustration is with a mandatory 20% gratuity. I detest when restaurants do that. No restaurant should ever mandate that. I feel like they are trying to get their customers to compensate for the low wages they may undercut their staff. It's not even so much about the money...trust me it's not because I don't pay the bill. When I'm out with my son, he takes care of that but if service is not up to par, you're still going to pay their mandated fee. The snow crab legs in spicy butter garlic sauce, may they cause tummy problems later, are sooooo worth it! Normally I stay away from frozen cocktails but the ooh la la is strong and amazing at the same time and worth the try. Also major bonus points for being dog friendly on the parklet outdoors! The snow crab clusters were full clusters, not the small broken clusters that you may get from other restaurants. The clusters were well seasoned and cooked to perfection!!!! The same goes for the shrimp ! My mom enjoyed the catfish sliders & Mac & cheese. My sister enjoyed the seafood gumbo. The food is just delicious!! Where to start.... Horrible service. Our waitress disappeared and even when she'd come back into the room, it'd take the entire table waving their hands to try to get her attention. This is a seafood joint, but several of us ordered crab legs and they gave us ONE cracker!? And, no crab forks or anything similar to actually pick the meat out. Drinks were way too sweet and lacked much alcohol at all. If I am paying $13 a drink, it should be strong. I was contemplating easing my strictness of reviews because restaurants have been through enough as it is. Luckily for the Boil, I had a great experience that would have landed them 5 stars pre-covid restrictions. This joint is a Cajun style seafood restaurant & it absolutely slapped. From the shrimp cocktail to the actual cocktails, everything was fantastic. An absolute must to order is the catfish basket and the Cajun wings. Everything was seasoned to perfection, and the next bite was better than the last. My only regret was not ordering a pound of the snow king crab legs. The only reason I didn't order was because I had lobster the night before (humble brag). I will definitely be back again this summer and crush a pound or 2 of those.
