When I go to a thai restaurant, I get the exact same thing the first time I go. Green curry tofu is an excellent meal to gauge the quality of a restaurant if you are a vegetarian. The problem is that if they mess it up, its awful. If its good, its usually amazing. Here it was 3/5 *s, but the quality of every thing else made it spectacular. My husband and I went to Tida Thai last night for take out. My husband ordered a calamari appetizer and pad thai with chicken. I ordered pad thai with shrimp. It was very good. However, this morning my husband got severe diarrhea and horrible stomach pain that has persisted the entire day. He is sure that he received food poisoning. I did not have any symptoms so it could have been the calamari. We have had good experiences here before, but we will never be coming back. Note: The food smelled and tasted fine. read more

Good food, fair prices, cheaper than Bangkok Garden in the area, but mostly the reason I go is the Stuffed Chicken wings, YES! Stuffed with minced crab meat, cellophane noodles and ground chicken, deep fried and dipped in the sweet chili sauce!! Your mouth is watering, that's ok!! I'm a bit of a food snob and Tida Thai did not disappoint. I dined in one time and ordered the second time off Order Up. Food was delivered within 40 minutes and was DEEELISH! Chicken lettuce wraps are excellent, papaya salad was so good I drank the juice out of the container and my toddler gobbled down the Chicken Satay sticks. I will be back! Absolutely love the Tida Thai in the Nimmo Shopping center. The place rocks. Can't get enough of the food. The spice does depend upon the dish you order, even if both have the same "spice-number" (0-5) it may still be different between two dishes. Great place though. read more

I am a fan of Thai food. This restaurant wasn't a disappointment either. Their Thai Iced Tea was absolutely fabulous. I tried the Thai Coffee too but didn't like it as much. We had calamari as an appetizer and it was very delicious. For my entree I got some chicken and cashew meal which was good also. But after we finished our meal two businessmen came in and they ordered some kind of mango dish that's not on the menu that looked I really delicious. I really wish I would have known about that one. But that just gives me a reason to go back to this restaurant to try this secretive mango salmon dish. I will definitely return. read more

She kept cutting me off and was honestly acting like I offended her or something. I thought she might have confused me with someone. Tida Thai is one of our favorite places to go to for Thai cuisine. The ingredients they use are fresh and full of flavor. If you've got a sweet tooth, you'll want to try the Thai Iced Tea. It's just the thing to wash down a delicious Thai curry dish! You must try the papaya salad and chicken satay. We also recommend the Beef Siam and Drunken Noodles dish. Of course, their Pad Thai and crab fried rice are our favorite go-to dishes, too. You definitely cannot leave until you try the mango with sticky rice dessert! Came here mainly for drinks, but ended up ordering a dish and trying some of my friends' dishes. For some reason, everyone ended getting the penang curry. i tried it and it had a pungent coconut flavor. I ordered the lad na (often written as rad na, a noodle dish with gravy. it's not offered at many thai restaurants, so it was a nice surprise). It had a little too much sauce than what i'm used to. the tom ka was decent, and you can definitely taste the cocunut. Their specialty drinks were ok, though a little sweet for me bc i like my drinks a bit stronger. It ended up being a 4 hour evening when we were just getting together for casual drinks and a bite to eat. the waitress was very patient and did not rush us to leave even though it was closing time. all in all, this is decent food but is not completely authentic thai food if you know thai food. however, for most palates, it does the trick and is quite satiable. most of the flavors are there, though it's just missing some of the authenticity that i'm used to. everyone had a great time and would most likely go back. ambience is relaxing and a little bit more modern than what appears on the exterior. if there is not a traditionally authentic thai restaurant in the area, i can see myself coming back here to get my thai fix. read more

My girlfriend and I really had high hopes for this place. We were definitely not disappointed when we ate there. The outside looks misleading because the interior is nice. The thai iced tea, which I highly recommend, was amazing along with both of our orders. The staff was very friendly and prompt to our dining needs. I recently traveled to an asian pacific area and it tasted as authentic as the thai restaurants that were there. I have been here twice now. The first time I got the drunken noodles because everyone on here rave about them... I felt they were ok. Perfect level of spicy-ness though which is a definite plus! Second time I got the pad thai... and I'm in general not a huge fan of pad thai it's just too plain for me but it was ok. I would still come back again and try something I know I really like to see how theirs rates like pad pak or kang ped. As some people have said one of the ladies that works there is very short with people... not rude but borderline. I'm glad I read YELP. We tried Tia Thai based on the great ratings on Yelp. My wife (who is Thai) and I were not dissappointed. This Thai restaurant ranks with the two or three of the best Thai restaurants we've ever experienced in the Northern Virginia and Virginia Beach/Williamsburg area. The food was delicious -- consistently excellent the three or four times we've eaten there. The service was great -- but my family tends to get great service from Thai restaurants once we start talking to the staff in Thai. First time I eat a thai place I always get the pad thai, and decide from there if I'll go back. If you expect your pad thai to have a little kick, you definitely need to tell them. I got mine to go unfortunately. Found it very bland, mostly because it was lacking any kind of spice to it. I've never had to order something specifically spicy at a thai place before, a mild kick is all I'm looking for. My Pad Thai had no sting what-so-ever. Now on to the good. Portion size was pretty large. This makes me happy, especially when you order to-go because it's so easy for the place to skimp. Everything seemed really fresh. Good meat to noodle ratio. Spring rolls were pretty good. The ladies that worked there very nice. Normally I probably wouldn't go back after the pad thai I had. Bangkok Garden's pad thai was much better. But all the great reviews can't lie, so I'll give it another shot soon and order one of their hot dishes (Drunken Noodles or Spicy Fried Rice maybe?), or just ask them to put a lot of spice/seasoning in my pad thai. read more

Looking for a new Thai Place and based off reviews from Yelp and Trip Advisor, we decided to try this place. Woman on phone was very polite. Ordered Chicken pad Thai, Tofu pad Thai, and vegetable spring rolls. Spring rolls were pretty good. A bit greasy compared to others I've had but I'd order them again. Both pad Thai orders were a bit disappointing. They were literally just that, chicken (or tofu) with a few scallions and noodles. No other vegetables cooked in. I have been coming to this Thai restaurant for a few months now. Before moving to Virginia Beach I had only had bad experiences with Thai food. Luckily I had family in town and they wanted to try some Thai food while they were here and I was very surprised with how good the food is here. I usually eat my normal drunken noodle for dinner but I just went again last night and tries out some new stuff on their menu. Last night I had the Thai dumplings for an appetizer and my main dish was Chicken pad Thai. Both of these dishes were just as good as the drunken noodle that I normally get and I would recommend it to anyone. The service at this location is also great. After only going there once the waitresses already remember who I am and are very welcoming every time I go there. There is no doubt that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
