Stopped in TLC last night for dinner and what a treat it was!! We were specifically looking for somewhere we could get a good boil at and this checked that box. We started off with the hush puppies which were my personal favorite and I'd probably go back just for those. We also got an order of mac and cheese which was both creamy and cheesy. And of course we ordered a seafood boil with snow crab and shrimp. All of it was excellent and the sauces were truly the icing on the cake. The food was ok, but the service was very odd. We had my mom with us who is not tech savvy and they were insistent that she order from the app and with much difficulty the waitress finally took the order the traditional way. Mom was having a hard time seeing the menu on our phones and was getting upset when we were trying to put in her order. The technology wasn't the only concerning thing, our waitress left and didn't bother telling anyone she still had a table pending, so we waited and had to flag someone else down to pay out. Excellent spot for a bite or dinner! We discovered this place a few months ago looking to get a few Oysters and were very happy with the find. The happy hour food menu is great and usually our go to when we go. All the food items have been excellent with honorable mentions going to the mussels and the hush puppies. The restaurant is open, bright, clean, and all around nice. Service has been excellent all but one time, where the server seemed new and a bit scattered especially considering it was 3pm and quiet in the restaurant. First round of beers took a good 25m and flagging down our server to which she blamed the bar which seemed kind of a cheap cya response. Every other time has been great. A surprisingly empty restaurant for a Saturday evening. The atmosphere felt like we were at a beach town restaurant which I liked and the food was similar as well. The TLC margarita was good. We had oysters to start and they were a hit. I enjoyed the boil but didn't realize I'd have to peal the shrimp and cut the sausage and potatoes. Best place to eat fresh oysters ($1 until Aug. I believe). Tried to take advantage of the $1 oyster deal but got completely KO'd. I overestimated myself because the oysters were very large! Also, you can never go wrong with some garlic mussels. I've also had the deviled eggs and they are alright. I'd say come during happy hour or whenever they have specials to get the best bang for your buck. Open seating (seat yourself wherever), order via barcode, and sit under the misted fans available outside to accommodate for the hundred degree Texas weather. Had been craving a seafood boil after all these cold weeks in Austin and my girlfriend found this place and I was blown away. The atmosphere was light and fun and the food did not disappoint. We started with the hush puppies and Mac and cheese for starters which were both excellent. Our server even offered us hot sauce for the Mac and Cheese which was greatly appreciated! The seafood boil came out quickly and the Cajun seasoning had just the right amount of heat! The shrimp were excellently cooked, which I appreciated because often times the shrimp come out of a boil completely overcooked. The crab was also excellent, though beware - prices for crab are very high right now! You can also choose your sauces and we did a lemon garlic butter and a mango habanero - both of which hit the spot. The corn and potatoes on the boil were also cooked to perfection. I really like the look of this place. Very chill with a beautiful patio area. Pet friendly and I believe I saw cornhole games set up. I found a seat at the bar and chatted with the bartender a bit. Friendly service but that's about it. Note their menu has no prices. We asked why and they mentioned everything is "market price". But I can tell you the margarita is $13 and the beer sis $9 for a draft. Also curious about the excellent margaritas cited in the reviews-- mine was average at best. Food is also just truly bad. I haven't been so disappointed in a meal in ages--- and paid $90 for it. Based on how empty the restaurant was I didn't trust the shellfish or the boils (which since there was no price listed I didn't even bother asking). They were out of most of the apps so we ended up with their "special"-- fried pickled green beans. For a meal we got the chicken fried steak. The green beans were awful. We should have sent them back. Hard fried, shriveled beans. I get kind of sick thinking of them. Btw they were $10 for the honor. The chicken fried steak was subpar-- hard fried, and the steak tasted old. The steak was too thick for the cut and the batter was the same as the beans. Flavor was so so. And for $32 I would've expected better. Overall, for $90 for a meal that just wasn't good I'd strongly recommend avoiding this spot. Update:: I received a thorough note from the restaurant manager shortly after this review. While my review still stands, I appreciate their outreach and due to their outreach am open to the possibility of trying this restaurant again at a future date. read more

Decided this was the new lunch destination this afternoon. Absolutely Phenomenal! FAST, efficient service by knowledgeable genuinely sincere staff. Our server, Trent, was Exceptional. He explained numerous offerings from their menu. We enjoyed the Mussels, nicely done! The Grilled Oysters were the best I've had in the Austin area! Everyone always needs some TLC! I came here to grab a drink while in the area, and TLC was a fun place for it. I love the long list of draft beers on tap, mostly locals brews, and how dog-friendly it was! Yes, bring the dogs here! I only wanted to get a pint before planning to see a movie nearby, so asked the bartender what he recommended. He was super friendly and helpful, and was enthused about talking about beer. I knew I had the right person helping me out. I tried a local IPA, which was solid. Setting of this place was chill and fun, as everyone was watching the UT game, with the many screens displayed. The patio area looked like a fun place to sit, as it looks out to the other businesses on the main street and was where all the dogs were. Most of the tables here were picnic tables, which I like. TLC does have a food menu, with Texas comfort food. If I had been hungry I would've totes tried some grub. But I'm glad to have visited TLC for some beer and football. Can't complain about that. I came here exclusively to eat king crab during my first visit, but when they informed me that it was $75 for a half-pound, I abruptly changed my mind. You must be mad if you think I'm going to pay such an astronomical price for sea spider legs. Therefore, I ordered shrimp & grits ($18) instead - it was mediocre, to say the least - as the five shrimps were small and overcooked and the grits were, well, gritty. I also ordered a shrimp cocktail ($16) - it came with only four medium shrimps. That's four bucks a shrimp, folks. I ate all of this and was still hungry as the portions were meager. So against my better judgment, I ordered the brunch version of chicken fried steak ($28) which had an egg on top. It was okay, but it certainly wasn't worth the price. My wife had a BLT sandwich ($15) and it came with no side at all. Also, I had issues with the TouchTunes jukebox. For some reason, it was set somehow to only a shortlist of shitty music (in my opinion). For a jukebox that can play just about anything you could think of, why would it be so filtered? As odd luck would have it, we found ourselves in the area a week later craving seafood and such, so this time we went a different route and had some fried okra, hush puppies, and roasted oysters. My friends and I happen to stumble across TLC while in the neighborhood. We were immediately attracted to the design and decor of the place from their picnic benches over the astroturff to the cute teal-colored coolers for a backyard vibe. They even have a cornhole to play with, which was fun. On the inside, the space is so clean, modern, and open with high ceilings and space all around. TLC has an amazing happy hour deal: $5 bites and sips all night on Monday and 3-7pm for the rest of the week. Unfortunately, the happy hour on Monday doesn't start until 3pm, so we weren't able to get the amazing deals (i.e. half a dozen oysters for only $5!). Despite that, we still grabbed some beers and margaritas to drink. The TLC margarita is very tasty here --definitely recommend. The entire vibe and environment that TLC has going on is on point. And they're right, everyone does need some TLC --whatever that means in your mind, wink wink. read more

Usual condiments and cheese with avocado on the top and Fritos on the bottom- the Brioche bun was sturdy but not heavy and the Cherry Limeade should not be missed! Saw this on the Gram many times and finally made it there for my birthday. Love the spaciousness of the layout, we felt very safe there. Staff was very friendly and helpful since it was our first time. Before I tell you how food the boil was I HAVE to talked about this Mac n cheese. Y'all, it's what dreams are made of. Creamy, saucy, gooey, of course cheesy. Comes out in a cast iron so the dish keeps the cheesy oozing, genius! We didn't add any bacon and I'm glad, it didn't need it. I'd go back for 3 orders is this alone!! I'm also not a fan of baked Mac n cheese, it normally comes out dry, but not this one. Then of course the Seafood is incredible. Building your boil is so fun. Lots of options, but we did king crab, sausage, and shrimp. It didn't look like enough but boy were we wrong. Lots of food, very filling! I'd skip the lemon butter, it sounds good but the texture was odd and fell flat flavor wise. We switched to classic clarified butter which is always a great choice. Our flavor was Cajun and had the right amount of heat! Also major kuddos to them for using quality tequlia in the frozen Rita, Dulce Vida! Rita's with a chilly rim and a floater equal heaven! Love coming to TLC and have been here many times. It's a place we know we like and feel comfortable going. My favorites are the seafood salad, the lobster roll and the snow crab boil. It's overpriced for seafood in my opinion, but I'm from Florida so I am spoiled. The service is usually good, they're friendly and quick. You order from a QR code at the table and they bring everything out to you. The decor is casual and feels like a seafood bar. My salad was tangy and plentiful. Drinks are always tasty too and strong. PROS: + $10 1/2 dozen fried oyster Rockefeller was spinach cream with fried oysters + $5 1/2 dozen happy hour raw oysters were tasty + $5 strong and tasty margarita on the rocks (no slush aka frozen margaritas at this time). Margarita cups' rim had spicy red salts on it, can request without. CONS: - $10 Charbroiled oysters taste like oysters with spicy chimichurri. This was least favorite of the three kinds and I feel they could do this one a bit better. Not bad though. - Other regular item menus seem to be high priced but I have yet to see the portions or any other specials related to them.
