Short Rib Cigar and my new addiction
    Mike S.

I don't what took me so long to get here, but now that I've tried TLV Tapas I will be back...often. I'm already a fan of Tel Aviv Grill, but this restaurant space feels elevated. The decor, music, and feel is definitely a vibe, and yes I feel ridiculous for using that term that too - except it's true! Let's get into the food because we tried a ton of dishes. Spoiler alert - we loved everything we tried, with my favorite being the short rib cigar and bluefin crispy rice. The short ribs are so tender and delicious, which leads me to believe they have been braised for a very long time. The cigar itself was perfectly crunchy and mixed with the tender short rib and dipping sauce made me want 10 more. Bluefin crispy rice at an Israeil tapas bar? Yes! The fish was so fresh and creamy, and the crispy rice was flavorful and crispy without being overly crunchy. Loved the rest of the sushi we tried as well, and they use interesting seasonings (za'atar, sumac) which ties sushi to the theme. We also tried the Zaaluk which is smoked and roasted eggplant with peppers and garlic, which paired extremely well with the chewy and crunchy jerusalem bagel. Also loved the hummus because it was creamier than many I have tried, but still had that satisfying garbanzo sumac flavor I wanted without being overpowering. Lastly, I need to talk about the oyster mushroom which comes on a skewer with an herb gremolata and looks like a meat kabob. It left us wondeirng how a mushroom could be so rich in flavor, meaty, and perfectly grilled as a skewer. There is so much more we tried (and snapped pics of), and tons more I want to try, but you'll have to get down here and see for yourself. Really nice for date nights or eating and laughing with a group of people worth eating and laughing with.

Such a cute spot! A little difficult to get a reservation though, seems quite busy. Rightfully so as everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We wanted to try a bit of everything and our waitress helped us pick a good variety. To drink we ordered the Nights in Tulum which basically is a spicy cucumber margarita. My goodness was this delicious! Refreshing, perfect spice and potent! We asked for tajin instead of salt and they delivered. To we went with the short rib cigar: perfectly crispy and sides complimented it nicely; having tender skewer: succulent and delicious not one crumb left behind; the bluefin lime roll and yellowtail roll: both fresh and had the perfect rice to fish ratio. The quality of the food is amazing and service was great. They ARE on the pricey side however. And when we told them it was our anniversary we weren't offered anything. Not that it's a huge deal but those little details really can make a celebratory night that much more special.

Thank you for sharing your amazing restaurant with us. My daughter and 8 of her friends enjoyed the most amazing and delicious food and entertainment. So much fun and such great ambiance and atmosphere. Wonderful birthday it was!!

Came here with a couple of friends to try it out! We sat at the only table outside, which was kind of nice. We got the bread, oyster mushrooms, and the beef cigars (I forgot what it's called). And some drinks! We were all happy with our cocktails. The food? AMAZING. So delicious and flavorful. My favorite was the oyster mushrooms. But honestly all of it. The staff were super friendly as well! I also didn't know it was kosher! That's awesome. Will def be back!

Located in Tarzana you can find street parking or there's a parking garage directly across the street Located in Tarzana you can find street parking or there's a parking garage directly across the street. it it's pretty spacious with seating downstairs and upstairs This restaurant left me craving more! When I say every dish was amazing, it truly was! My friend and I stopped by a few days ago for dinner. We got the oyster mushroom, grilled okra, and their specialof the night the Dubai sushi. I can't describe okra. It's a southern dish, but I highly recommend it if you've never tried it, and wow, it was my first time trying the mushroom oyster. You're eating meat. It's grilled and seasoned perfectly. We got the short rib pasta with mushrooms for entrees, and honestly, this might be the best I've ever had!! we had a few other entrées, but you must get the Arias. Overall, everything was a hit from service. Our waitress was Ciara and she was delightful and helpful with suggestions as well as the other staff. I'm already planning a trip to come here again highly recommend it, especially for special occasions.

TLV Tapas Bar's 2nd anniversary was very tasty. The atmosphere was electric with a live DJ and a lively crowd. The set menu (see photos) featured vibrant Mediterranean flavors, and I had the chance to try: *Jerusalem Bagel - Warm, fluffy, and perfect with za'atar olive oil and tomato purée *Tzatziki - A cashew cheese twist with cucumber, garlic, dill, and chili flakes. *Zaaluk - Smoky fire-roasted eggplant with spicy shushka peppers and garlic confit *Okra - Tossed with lemon, soy sauce, and urfa pepper for a tangy, slightly spicy bite *Oyster Mushroom - Tender, with fresh herb gremolata, citrus, and sumac *Cauliflower Steak - Hearty, with beef demi-glaze, capers, and wild dill *Salat Hashuk - Crisp and refreshing with radish, cucumber, tomatoes, mint, and citrus vinaigrette *Arugula Salad - Peppery and balanced with fennel, pomegranate, beets, pine nuts, and sumac vinaigrette *Chilean Sea Bass - Buttery and perfectly cooked, paired with charred bok choy and Persian lemon Beyond the food, TLV's partnership with the LATTC Foundation made the night even more special, supporting scholarships for aspiring chefs. Overall, a fantastic celebration of food, community, and giving back. Cheers to many more anniversaries, TLV!

    Happy Birthday to mom!

Great service! Delicious food! Cesar is the best server! Ask for him! Can't believe it took me this long to try it out! Branzino and Arais is the best on the menu!

This place never disappoints and always delivers! We typically come on Saturday night early sit on the bar and enjoy really good food. The shook salad, humus, the newly added sushi rolls (so good) everything is always consistent and prepared to perfection. Overall great food, great ambiance and the service is always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Full disclosure my review is based on being a guest at a party that was held in this restaurant. I have seen this place a lot as I live around this area but first time to go to attend a party. Well first off it's a Kosher restaurant and bar so that tells you that this is probably going to be more expensive than your regular bar and restaurant. The party I attended had about 50 guests and the service was great, servers paid attention to our drinks make sure we keep getting wine (well they sell each bottle so...) and the table setting and prep was really classy. We were served a 4-course meal so the starters, appetizers and salad was a lot. There were probably about 5-7 apps - my favorites are - Jerusalem bagel (so good especially when it was hot) the oyster mushroom skewers were delish the bluefin sashimi was also good and I'm glad my section of the table most of the guests didn't eat the raw fish. For the mains - we were served ribeye steak medium rare and I think it's very well seasoned and cooked right. The branzino was perfect and was a favorite at our side of the table. The desserts were served as well - there's one that stands out - the pistachio - I've never had that before and it was definitely worth a try. Place looks like a high end date night for those who observe Kosher and music is also to their taste. It can be loud for some people but I'm fine with it - definitely giving you that party / late night vibes.

The mocktails were refreshing and balanced!!I was so glad they weren't to sweet. We indulged in the Sierra Sunset, which came on a light up coaster showing off the sunset colors. And also the Lychee's & Cream, which was my favorite. I think it was the use of the kaffir yogurt that really balanced the mocktail and set it apart. The tapas we had were the Salmon Tartar, Patatas Bravas (add crispy Jamon), and Wagyu Empanadas. The citru notes in the salmon tartar really made this dish sing to me; bouncing off the creaminess of the avocado mouse and the richness of the salmon, then finishing with the crunch of the tostada. The Patatas Bravas were nice and crispy, and toped with a creamy aoil then a spicy Bravas sauce with added a nice spice and depth to the dish. However, adding the crispy Jamon is definitely the way to go if you order this dish!! Those Wagyu Empanadas were just the right ratio of meat to dough. Then those Manchego cheese cracker not only are a nice crunch, but also bring a nuttiness that balances the richness of the meat and that succulent mole sauce. Next was the burrata bowl, another favorite of mine. This must have been a whole burrata ball spread out and topped with cherry tomatoes an herbal basil sauce and crunchy kale chips. They even have us some tostada chips to dip in this delicious burrata bowl. They have a whole pallela section under the main dishes, so of course we had to try this out. We went with the Paella Negra; squid ink, gulf shrimp, clams, scallops and broccolini, and of course we added the Iberian ham. This was so decadent and delicious. Definitely recommend topping it off with a squeeze of the lemon they provide you with, it complements the dish. The corrners of the rice were nice and crispy, while the center remind fluffy. Shrimp were cooked to perfection, the dolops of aoli complemented the side ink rice. The addition of the Iberian ham really brought a smokey and salty addition to this dish. To end the night we decided to indulge in the desert trio, this included churros, an orange Mochi, torrija and ice cream. The orange Mochi was light and delicious and definitely and Instagram-able dish. But the one that stole the show for me, was the torrija. Something I had never had before, nice rich brioche style pastry filled with a passion fruit cream.

Iberian oysters (4/5): Amazing presentation with the dry ice, but I felt like the oysters were not very tender and kind of hard. The flavor from the oyster was mild, but the sauce was good. Grilled octopus (5/5): This was so amazing. The meat was tender and the spices complemented it well. Prime Wellington (5/5); This probably won't make you fool but wow this was great. I really liked the meatballs. Paella Negra (5/5): Now time for the headliners. This had seafood mixed with squid ink. There was plenty of seafood to go around and the squid ink really enhanced the flavor of the rice. Iberico Paella (5/5): If you want meat, you have to get this. Ambience amazing the reflection of stars has nothing to do with the service whatsoever. Actually our service was excellent. It was the food that ruined the experience. This is recently not uncommon in LA. We ordered the patatas bravas, camarones alijillo... I understand that every restaurant has to put their spin on it but this was really missing the mark... since when do we put a aioli sauce in paella or even on potatoes. Yuk!! Amsterdam, maybe but not in seafood. Also chimichurri on shrimp wow this is super new - I ordered paella in Spain at least 20 times and I've never seen it like this. Sangria excellent! Paella 5/10 - I know that they are cooking the seafood whilst still having the paella come out al dente - but our seafood was severely overcooked not much lobster, and a very thin layer of paella - incredibly disappointed, although it was date night and that made it great. I would not recommend this restaurant for paella. It has a great atmosphere. Good drinks nice atmosphere. I know this sounds terrible, but I'm just going to have to go back to La paella for the time being since a few of the restaurants that we frequent have closed - so we will see how long this lasts. Off to look for more restaurants with excellent paella. We definitely have a lacking here in the prime Westside.

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

I just saw mezcal and picked it. I finished it though. I started off with the cornbread and 10/10! The butter on the side had a ever so slight hint of spice that I loved! The blueberry compote on the side was good too but made it taste more dessert-like IMO. Then I had the tomato and stone fruit salad and i think that was my top favorite thing all night! The flavors had umami, spice, sweet, acid, texture....I highly recommend I'm not vegan but I got the sticky maitake mushroom. Verrrry flavorful with all components combined! Not too salty like i saw some reviews mention. I enjoyed it better as a build your own taco with the naan than I did the lettuce cup. But I love bread! Lol. Price was on the high side for this dish though for what you get. Most of the sides were very pricey as well (Ordered half portions to-go). Finished off with the mango sticky rice dessert! I know this is crazy but I almost wish the portion size was a bit smaller. It was SO good! Maybe too big for one person given it has rice, but I finished it LOL.

We came here after a recommendation from family and the red book. Apparently there is some sort of…read moredeal you get an entree for free with purchase of two appetizers with that book. There is street parking that was free and is limited to certain hours, but we had to walk a couple of blocks. It wasn't too bad. The restaurant is pretty small, so it may not be the best for large groups. The ambiance is intimate, dimly lit with purple lights. They played this Korean kids' show on one screen (which was actually very interesting to watch) and another DJ set on another screen. I liked these touches actually! Staff were very friendly. Items we ordered: - Perilla oil noodles: Very simple, but flavorful. One of my favorite dishes from the evening. - Tuna dip with trout roe: It came with two types of Ace Crackers (one was square shaped and one had rounded corners). The square shape tasted *fresh* to me and the rounded corners one had a slightly sweeter taste to it in comparison. They refill your crackers as you eat the dip. This was a solid dish. - Uni Tteokbokki: Also another favorite. I loved how cozy this dish was. I wished there was more tteokbokki to soak up the sauce. At times I actually used the crackers from the tuna dip to dip in the uni butter sauce. This was well seasoned. -Rigatoni alla kimchi vodka: I don't generally like red sauces, so I can't recommend it for myself. It tasted like fresh tomatoes and some kimchi to it. - Clam sujebi: The broth was quite salty, probably a combination of clam and seasonings.. This dish probably would have gone well with crackers to soak up the sauce. Ingredients were fresh though. - Pork jeyuk: The pork was seasoned well, went great with rice and the gochujang aioli. - Kace study drink: Very strong alcohol taste, I couldn't taste much of the peach unfortunately. Of note, they did recommend Your Ex's Favorite as a popular drink choice. Overall, I would totally recommend coming here!

arrived on a sat night and was told there would be an hour wait. was seated about 1.5hrs later at…read morethe end of the bar area. i did not enjoy this seating as the workers were constantly bumping into me and it was very overwhelming having to hear the manager talking to all the workers. next time i will just request a different seating ~ food: tuna mayo: 10/10! it tastes like the korean tuna crackers i used to have as a child but even better. i love how there's two different types of crackers that have different textures rigatoni alla kimchi vodka: 9/10 wow very delicious. not too spicy but very flavorful. my only complaint is that it's very very salty ~ service: the manager was very friendly, even helping us open our makgeolli and talking to us about the drinks. there was a server though who was new (manager said she was new lol) who refused to help us with the inkind order. we already paid and asked if we change to inkind order and she said no straight up without even asking the manager. the manager was not there so we couldn't even ask him for help so we just left with paying card. bit disappointing ~ ambiance: small interior but well decorated with neon signs and posters ~ parking: limited valet self parking
