I'm so glad we were able to experience this spot during the week day to avoid the crowds! The seating is limited. I love that they hang colored pages as their decor. Family said it was the best French toast they've had. My boyfriend cleaned his basic breakfast plate. I swallowed my toast lol. And the fried chicken was seasoned amazingly with a little heat! The pancake balls look unique but taste pretty basic. I'd probably skip this next time. It was one of the better breakfast meals we had while visiting. I'd come back next time we're in town!

I was recommended this place by a friend who lives in New Orleans . The service was good, especially on my first visit. I went two days in a row for breakfast because there's so many different items on the menu that I wanted to try. When I come back to New Orleans, I will be trying more items on the menu. The fried shrimp and grits was so tasty. The shrimp was fried extra crispy and fresh. I order an espresso martini and added lavender syrup, which was a great idea. It was one of the best espresso martinis I've had because it was made with fresh coffee. I had the prosciutto and brie crêpe the next day with cheese grits it was very tasty but prosciutto and brie are both very salty foods so be warned that it can be salty. Both portions were really big so I definitely was stuffed when I left. I think the prices were decent and it is a cute little restaurant to stop by for breakfast with a friend or by yourself. My only downside is there is very limited street only parking. I had to circle the block a few times until a spot opened up, but it was worth it.

I've been to both locations of Toast and the Gentilly Blvd location is my preference. The service is always speedy even on busy mornings. On my most recent visit, I kept my order simple and had salmon and eggs on toast. It was tasty but not mind blowing. To be fair, I got what I ordered. I usually get the catfish and grits which I really like but I'm trying to avoid fried foods at the moment. I also had a tall glass of unsweetened hibiscus tea and it was great. My uncle had an omelet and a side of grits. He enjoyed it- it disappeared in a matter of minutes.

Update: Just took my mom and aunt for breakfast here and the prior review still stands. The food was so good! Those grits were the best I've ever had and the spinach crepe with veggies and goat cheese, surprisingly delish. I consumed the mayonnaise potatoes on the side and we all took our drinks to go. It was a great start to the day. Highly recommend! It's a small place, very homey. I was greeted with a big smile and great welcome. The food is absolutely amazing. I got the chicken and waffles and a black coffee. The service was friendly and polite and I was very happy eating there. I knew my chicken was going to be perfectly seasoned and juicy once I smelled it. Yep, iykyk, the southern belle came out. The waffle was so good you could eat it without syrup and the cayenne aoili butter, not sure if that is the name, was fantastic. I'm brining my mom and aunt to this place. Their chicken is giving my aunt a run for her money so she needs to try it.

When I first entered the restaurant, I immediately appreciated how small and quaint it is. No one was at the host stand, so I waited and watched everyone work busily. The gentleman walking from the kitchen, the cook on the line, the gentleman at the soda station all looked at me, but no one spoke. Finally the lady behind the bar whose back had been to me, finally turned around and with a surprise welcomed me to the restaurant. The service was quick and thorough. The food was good. My favorite item was the flat white espresso. It's the best I've ever had. I frequent the location in Gretna, and this location doesn't compare.

The toast with bacon, mushrooms, mornay, caramelized onions was really good. All the ingredients complemented each other well. I was pleasantly surprised to get full. The banana and Nutella were okay. I wish they added more bananas. The fish and grits were 10/10. Best grits I've ever had. Food came in really fast also.

I visited here for the first time today for brunch. We found nearby free street parking. It's not a large place but we didn't have to wait. We got there about an hr and half before they closed. It is a very casual vibe. The staff were friendly and showed good service. I ordered a pineapple mimosa, some waffles, eggs and lyonnaise potatoes. I enjoyed everything and I would return.

this is the SPOT to go for brunch on a weekend with friends and family in nola beloved neighborhood. although it's a small place, the wait time is bearable and the service is expected for a busy place. but the food is great!! you forgot all about the wait time once the food enters your mouth and your eyes rolls back. the catfish was perfectly fried and seasoned. the grits were phenomenal. can not rave about TOAST enough. this place deserves the same hype if not more as the infamous brunch place that rhymth with care bat

I finally stopped in at the Gentilly location, and I was seated surprisingly quickly! Everyone was friendly, and the cozy space was decorated very warm and cute! Our waitress was great, and the food came out quickly. My steak was tender and cooked perfectly, and so were the sides. My boyfriend's catfish and grits were really good, but he wasn't a fan of the scrambled eggs. I could have used a bit more seasoning on my sides, but overall it was pretty good food for a reasonable price!

The food was amazing! I ordered the chicken and waffles, it was really good and well seasoned. I also got the grits and a biscuit on the side, both items were okay, they aren't something I'd reorder. If you plan on sitting in here be sure to try to make a reservation! They stay booked and busy, inside and outside are always filled. This is why I got my order to go.

I wrote a very nice review about this restaurant years ago. My family and I would eat there often. Boy has things changed. The last couple times I've been there the food was mediocre. If that wasn't bad enough staff from the host to the manager has some of the rudest employees I've ever run into. Not just this once but the last three times I've gone. There's a lot of breakfast places in New Orleans and I will scratch this one permanently off my list. read more

Don't sit at the counter unless you want to watch half your party's dishes get all soggy sitting under the heat lamp while the rest of your dishes are made. My omelette was supposed to come with toast, which never arrived. I asked about it and the server put in a separate ticket for it, didn't mention it being a rush order. I watched a good dozen plates of toast get made but screw mine right? Yeah never got it. When I asked about it the server said "yeah, I'm waiting on it too" GO ASK FOR IT FROM THE KITCHEN YOURSELF! It's obvious the kitchen staff was not getting along with a few of the servers there, who in turn couldn't get what they needed for their tables in time. Vibe was very off. Never ever recommending this place to anyone again, and none of their businesses are getting my money. This place is called Toast, but no toast for me. read more

First off nobody greeted us when we first arrived, nor explained the seating arrangements being first come first served. Secondly, as me and my BF sat at the bar watching the food being prepared, we noticed a few things that make us nervous about our first experience at this restaurant. I noticed everyone preparing food without the appropriate food prep equipment to prevent cross contamination or any food born illnesses. Nobody wore hairnets, gloves, I'm constantly seeing them touch their face and head while preparing food. I'm watching a chef throw lettuce on a plate with his bare hands. This worries me especially with all of the food poisoning outbreaks we've been having as of late. read more

We went around 10:30am for brunch, my wife and I were visiting from Austin, TX which has a great good scene. We waited about 30 mins for our table, we relaxed outside on a bench and enjoyed the morning. Once being sat, we ordered coffee and reviewed the menu. Coffee was good, we ended up ordering bacon, egg, avacado, pimento cheese waffle sandwich contraption, we also ordered the bacon, cheese, onion crepe, and lastly we ordered the chicken and waffles. The sandwich contraption was good but great, the chicken and waffles were extremely pleasing, and the crepe WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. I would highly recommend this joint, great good, good service, and fun atmosphere. read more

I wish I could give it more stars. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the BLT and added pimento cheese. It was so damn good and huge. You will have leftovers. My boyfriend had the catfish special which was huge. The Abelskiver ball thingies were delightful. Definitely a place I would go several times over. Amazing. read more

I got the prosciutto and brie savory crepe, which was a bad choice. It was way too cheesy (I didn't know that was possible), but it was completely my fault since I picked one with a cheesy cheese like brie. The prosciutto also made for a quite salty experience. However, every last bite of the other dishes (and drinks) was amazing, and I know if I don't get that same crepe next time, it'll be a 5 out of 5 experience. The aebelskivers with lemon curd really saved the day for me. I'll definitely get those again. Also, the BLT and fried oyster toast special were to die for. I'm really ready to go back and let this place redeem itself from my bad decision. I'll update my review when I do! read more

Literally my favorite place in New Orleans! The servers are all incredibly warm and friendly and the the food is so fresh and totally out of this world. I can't rave enough it's absolutely worth the hour wait they have at times. I've also never seen a staff work so well together. This place always sets my day up for success! Now that said - Having been to both locations I would say the Gentilly/Fairgrounds toast TRUMPS the Uptown location. The servers at the Uptown location aren't nearly as welcoming (actually the girl I had was a bit rude) and the portions were much much smaller, quality overall lacks a bit, and it's not as clean looking inside. Pumped I live by the Gentilly one! I'll continue to come in daily. read more

Cute breakfast place with good food! I had the ratatouille omelet, which was pretty delicious! I wasn't a fan of the toast surprisingly, but the omelet itself was very tasty. My husband had the chicken & waffles, which came with syrup & a cayenne butter that really brought it all together. Nice breakfast place, would recommend trying it. read more

Came to this place on my second day in NOLA and it was hundred times better than those overrated brunch places in the French quarter. We were told to expect a 45min wait but it only took 5min. Probably my favorite brunch spot in the city. Food is always great. It can get crowded/busy with longer wait, but if you use the "check-in" feature, it saves a lot of time. If it's just you, or one other person, the bar is nice to sit at. Highly recommended. read more

Tasty breakfast our first morning in town. He had an omelette with toast and a homemade strawberry marmalade and I had ham, onion and cheese sauce in a crepe. Both were served with fresh fruit. The portions were so huge neither of us made it through our meal. This restaurant is a neighborhood place away from all the hubbub of the Quarter. It got us geared up and ready to go for our first full day of touring. We'd definitely return. read more

My mom absolutely hated this place. The eggs were terribly undercooked, and they gooed all into her food, and she couldn't eat it. They did refund the price of the eggs, but I had to listen to my mom complain about her eggs all day, so thanks, I guess. However, our waitress was nice and efficient. The chicken and waffles is actually pretty good. To sum it up, maybe skip the eggs. read more

Toast is a cute quaint breakfast spot! I ordered the bacon, spinach, & gruyere omelette and it was AMAZING! I even loved the side of toast that came with the order; I was very impressed by the quality. I also ordered a buttermilk waffle; the waffle texture was very fluffy, but I felt the buttermilk was a bit strong for me personally. However, that did not take away from the experience. The staff are amazing and very accommodating. I definitely will be back to try other items on the menu. If you want a good quality & affordable breakfast Toast is the place to go! read more

So freaking good every time. So much variation on the menu, so there's something for everyone. All of their toasts are creative and delicious, and the bread is made fresh in house. Service is so friendly (and dog friendly!). Most recently we had the fried oyster/bacon/mushroom/poached egg toast and it was perfection. I seriously love this little place! read more

This is the kind of place where you go even though you know you're going to wait at least 45 minutes but it's worth it for those aebleskivers. So delicious. The lemon curd is fantastic. Very unprofessional I didn't even get to try the food yet but heard very good thing. I got a table for three they told us a 30 min wait for it but it ended up being an Hr and we got the message to come inside but when we went in we were told we had to wait another Hr because a yelp reservation ended up coming instead (late) I might add and ended up having to wait an Hr again but eventually we cancelled manager was very rude about it host was apologetic read more

This spot is such a extrordinary brunch spot. We came here after the Swamp Tour and was not disappointed. The service was fantastic and the portions are huge. We got the waffle sandiwch and a omlette, they don't skimp on the eggs. I highly recommend this place. The little pankcake balls are a must! read more

Been to Toast dozens of times, today I went with a party of 6. Definitely a bad idea. Some food was brought to the table in bout 15 minutes other food had not been delivered after 30 minutes. Our waiter explained even though the food was not delivered after 30 minutes for some, it usually takes 35-40 minutes. That would not have been a problem if everyone food came out the same time, I don't believe the waiter understood the concept that when people go out to eat they typically all eat a the same time, not 30 minutes apart. All in some of us ate and the rest left hungry with no food. read more

Our servers were friendly and nice and moved quickly about the restaurant tending to the customers. They decoration of the dinner was interesting, reminded me of od school rustic. We opted for french toast, a side of grits, a side of bread, shrimp and grits and a mimosa. All the food and drink were great and fresh. We really enjoyed it. So much so we tried to come back the next day but they were closed. Definitely recommend for someone looking for good breakfast food for a low cost.

We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! Service was friendly and helpful at the counter/bar. The food runner was nice and then another member, assuming the Manager, that stopped by to check on us mid meal. She was super friendly and nice. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and drinks at Luzianne. Minor things noted, mainly on the cook of the eggs, but nothing awful. It his the spot and checked the boxes!

It feels all the way "working CBD lunch" yet unhurried, a reflection of Cochon's greatness but scaled down and with utterly no pretense. There's simply a real sense of both care and expertise in everything done here no matter how simple or complex. Beyond all else, they're doing what they love here with no scaling back or dressing up to make it anything else. A winner through and through.

I ordered a Bloody Mary and a Virgin Bloody Mary for the prego sis (btw this place has a liquor license unlike the other one, yippee). I thought it a bit odd to charge full price for a Virgin Bloody Mary ( the only reason I noticed is 'cause my sister has tried every Virgin Bloody Mary from here to Portland and I love that she's a cheap date) but they came out with all the accoutrements and held us over 'til what I can only describe as God's fluffiest gift to the world ( right next to Gabriel Iglesias); Apple divers, no wait that's not right, Able skivvies? Is that it?! Æbleskivers. Whilst I can't pronounce this word to save my life, they are so delicious and fluffy and made out of clouds in heaven. You get a dip with them, I prefer the Nutella. An order of six is decadent for me so definitely split an order or you'll have to go to confession for committing gluttony. I always love their crepes. Consistency is there from the other location. Cute place around the corner from where we were staying in the Fairgrounds/Gentilly area. All of the staff are really nice and service and food was great. Our 7 year old son declared Toast his favorite restaurant and begged us to eat there again before we had to leave for home, so we ended up being there 2 days in a row.
